bad day for me, tweaked my shoulder a few days ago, was sore, but hurt today, exchanged my insanity for tomorrows rest day, will pick back up tomorrow,

almost did it anyway and remembered injuries aint helping anyone,

saw some movement on the scale today, but that was before dinner, not going too crazy yet,

i may hit the induction or 30g level carbs/day starting monday,

Shiner - hope things get better. Your right on about injuries. Better to let it heal than to upset it.

Last night, I had some strong cravings and ended up finding some carbage that bumped me a few pounds on the scale. I wrote it off as a "planned" cheat. It was the end of my work week and I just decided to enjoy a few treats.

Conversely, today went very well. Temps were in the low 60s, winds were gusty at times, but nothing major. Lots of sun. Took the family about an hour from here and rode an 8 mile paved trail. Also did some off-road riding to. In total, I bet we rode 12-13 miles. To top the day, we went to a steak house. I kept everything low carb.

Ok day here. Found some high sugar stuff. Did not go too crazy, but I am sure it is not going to help. Cooler day. Biked for a bit but decided to quit early. Hope all is going well for the rest of you.

Shiner - I had that stuff earlier this year. I credit that with saving one of my Monday weigh-ins and keeping me on track. Hope you get feeling better soon.

Pretty good day here. I was not as hungry and handled the day well. I went ahead and did a P90 workout. I can feel the difference from two weeks ago. I have been more active and am down a few pounds which translated into a much easier time doing pushups. I had a goal in January of starting P90 up again once I hit the 220 mark and I am mostly there. Just as well kick my metabolism up a notch.

I had another small victory. I fit a pair of 34" jeans today that I have not been in since my last major drop in poundage. I tried them on because I had no other clean jeans. Fit good. My new goal is to make those loose.

Keep at it all.

Goo job Huff on the loss for the week!

Had my first race of the season this weekend. Full report is on the blog, but basically I kinda sandbagged the race as I was running it with the wife. I broke free with about a mile to till the end and wound up missing my PR by 21 seconds. UGH. First triathlon is this Sunday. The nerves are starting to set it, especially as it feels like I haven't really trained for it.

I'll post up weight tomorrow for me.

Just checking in, guys - haven't gone anywhere....

In Austin, Texas, it's difficult to tell whether one is sick or is suffering from allergies. Last week, I either had the flu or the weather change stirred some of my allergies up. I literally sneezed over 100 times within an hour.

I tried to OD on EmergenC packets, and thankfully, I'm feeling pretty good right now.

I am following the Primal Blueprint, although I'm averaging one to two cheats per week. My cheats normally come in the form of Ethiopian injera, Indian naan, or an alcoholic beverage.

On the positive side, I am maintaining my weight with no cardio. I returned to the gym yesterday for the first time since my hamstring issue. My hamstring didn't seem to bother me, but I had a tough time keeping up with the rest of the class.

I have to travel to San Francisco on business in 2 weeks, and although it isn't set in stone yet, I am planning on having my gynecomastia surgery sometime mid April.

I've been having a lot of nightmares about it, especially since watching a YouTube video demonstration by the same doctor that will be performing my surgery.

For some reason, I am on a spicy food kick. I've been making an Indian curry each morning for breakfast, usually consisting of ginger, garlic, onions, tomatoes, jalapenos, madras curry powder, and some type of meat, sauteed in coconut oil. This has been going on at least three or four days in a row, and I don't see it stopping any time soon.

Tonight, if I get hungry again, I am craving fried chicken, so I'll probably be pan frying some almond flour battered chicken breasts in coconut oil.

Low carb definitely does not have to mean low flavor

CTI - read your blog about the race. Way to push through. Your are doing a lot! Love the active lifestyle. That group cross fit picture just screams COLD. That is awesome that your class participated. It would make the run a lot of fun.

Chasing - That is a heck of an ingredient list for an AM meal. I make ham and cheese omelets and feel like I am overdoing it. You may have to share the details out. I can only imagine what watching YouTube of your surgeon practicing his craft must be like. YIKES! It makes you appreciate the anesthesiologists more.

Hey Guys...quick check in.

My heavy travel season just kicked in, so I am going to be checking in when I can.

Still at induction levels and plan to stay there for the next 3 weeks. I feel much better after my Mexican Vacation while on plan. I haven't been on the scale since and I may stay off until my 4 weeks of induction are over to see.

Peace!

Checking in. Overall good day. Woke up early today to get work done. That left me lacking motivation to work out so I took it easy. I was quite hungry tonight. I think I need to eat more tomorrow - primal style. I almost went on a cereal and chips rampage tonight. Luckily I snapped back to reality before I undid weeks of progress.

Yo, I remember when you told us you got engaged. I missed the part about actually getting married. Congratz! I can't think of a better excuse for "sandbagging".

I'll be cheering you on from the other side of the mountains. I used to go on long (20+ miles) hikes in Illinois, and I never felt like I'd trained for it until I'd done it (plus it was 30+ years ago, but leaving that aside...) Think of it as finding your baseline.

That does sound good. I'm going to thaw out some chicken today and make that for dinner tonight and lunch tomorrow.

I went on an Easter candy binge Thursday night and yesterday. Now it's all gone. I hope I've got that out of my system! All I've had so far today is bacon and eggs. I'd like to keep partying in the carbs forever, but it is taking its toll. Thursday night, I was coming home from work, and I could barely hoist my carcass up the step onto the bus.

I did something similar on Friday/Saturday - but more of a general and somewhat controlled binge. I am not sure why. My appetite was up and carbage was easy to find. I was down to 218 lbs on Wednesday which may have been too fast of drop in my weight causing more hunger. My weight was 221 this morning. I am having a real hard time getting past 220, but I know I need to get some good exercise going (which has not been happening as of late).

I purchased more Paleo/LC snack type food to try and have good alternatives for such moments this week.

Decided to go for broke tonight - I did a P90 workout (light cardio), AB ripper 100, and a 5K walk on the treadmill. I don't know why I put off exercise. I was riding high on endorphins over the last two hours. I also advanced an one episode in Season II House of Cards.

See everyone in the morning.

My favorite breakfast:

I saute one tablespoon of chopped ginger, one tablespoon of chopped garlic, one small onion (I like red or purple the best), 1-2 jalapenos seeded, and a tablespoon of Madras curry powder in coconut oil until golden brown. I then add a can of tomatoes drained, or one whole raw tomato and saute that into the mix until the liquid is gone.

I scramble 4 or 5 whole eggs and make an egg omelet with the above mixture and shredded cheese as the filling. I usually add some salt to taste.

I never saute in anything other than butter or coconut oil, as vegetable oil isn't Paleo, and I don't think it's healthy.

I would say that a tablespoon each of garlic and ginger is the minimum. Also, I typically don't chop my own garlic, and when it's readily available, I use pre-chopped ginger also.

I would not recommend using the curry powder that you purchase at a normal grocery, as most of the time, this isn't Indian curry powder. I think that it's a West Indies curry powder, and I don't like the taste of it.

For whatever reason, I'm getting to where I can't eat anything other than spicy/flavorful food.

My weight has stabilized around 212, and for now, I'm pretty happy. I'm able to maintain at this weight while having occasional cheats, such as alcohol, once per week.

I am meeting with the gynecomastia surgeon tomorrow. I don't know what his schedule is like, but my thoughts are that I will probably try to schedule the surgery on the morning of Friday April 11th.

One of the interesting things is that after the liposuction of my chest area, if I gain fat again, it will likely be in parts other than my chest. Since I store most of my fat in the chest or stomach now, my stomach is likely to get fatter at a higher rate than ever before.

Anyway, I'm excited and terrified at the same time.

Been super busy being a nerd the last week or so, and haven't really made the time to post up or write anything. Anyway.... I made time to run my first triathlon yesterday morning. I'm still waiting on official times, but it went a lot better than I thought. I killed the swim, struggled through the bike, and kept a steady slow pace throughout the run. Overall I'm super happy with the race. I'll post up some pics etc in the near future, and hopefully tonight on my graveyard shift I'll be able to write up a blog post about it. #slacker

My gynecomastia surgery is scheduled for April 29th. It's been a long journey, and although I'm scared, I'm excited to finally know that I'm going to move forward past this.

Race times posted last night, calculated sprint time was 1:50:45. Basically they took my average speed on swim laps/bike/run and averaged it out to what a sprint distance would be. Pretty happy with that, though I think I shoulda pushed harder on the run. The bike killed me. Full race recap is you know where.

Thanks for the support, guys!

The doctor is reportedly the best gynecomastia surgeon in the nation. With that being said, he acts like an arrogant jerk.

I basically went for a second consultation to try and figure out if I should shed some more weight before the surgery, or if he thought it made a difference.

He has a New York accent. He said, "Yeah, look at yah! You're too fat! You need to drop a few pounds. Will it make a difference! Nah. If you were my brother I'd have done the surgery yesterday!"

I wanted to ask him what my chances of having dimpling or a deformity were. I said, "I saw one guy in your before and after pictures that had dimpling and...."

His reply was, "If you think another effing hot shot doctor can guarantee you a perfect result, then you're wrong! Yeah, out of 700 cases, there's one case of dimpling!"

He totally took offense and didn't get what I was asking....He thought I was insulting him or calling him a poor surgeon...

His nurse brought him a perfectly plated cup of coffee on a blue dish with a blue cup, with whipped cream and chocolate sprinkles on top....

He asked, "Do yah want some coffee???"

I said, "No thank you."

His reply was, "Well, you sure are eye ballin' mine!"

I said, "I was just amazed how it's on a blue dish, in a blue cup, and it matches your blue shirt and blue tie perfectly...."

I'm not sure what he said, but if this guy weren't so good, I'd have definitely walked.

Weird.

Chasing - I guess when you are the best people come to you. Still, what a JA.
Harley - Keep working hard buddy! Being on the road is a huge challenge.

I am learning that putting my results into online systems is not ideal. I decided I am not going to weigh myself everyday (again). I measured my waist and found it to be 43" - a lot higher than I was hoping. So I wondered what my waist size was last time I was around 220 lbs and the reports on the website I use only go back one year.

You guys probably noticed that LCF deleted old posts too. Not that I need to be nostalgic, but I had not considered the need for these websites to dump info off the database. It would be nice to easily dig back and find what the measurements were when things were good OR bad. I will probably start keeping my weight loss data on a local drive or a cloud drive.

Hey boys. Got back yesterday from a week long conference, and I was way off plan. Back to task now and keeping up the jogging. I've got a formal event in 3 weeks and need to drop about 5-10 pounds to fit in my tux properly. Got some work to do!
