Good Morning.

Still on track. I decided to get on the dread mill after all last night. I did a slower couple of miles just to try to get some of the soreness out of my legs. It seemed to help because I am almost back to normal this morning.
I mistakenly got on the scale this morning and I am way up in weight from Monday which doesn't make a whole lot of sense since I have been very diligent, but I assume I am holding onto some water from the exercise.
Keep up the good fight.

Peace!
Harley

Day 9 - 2119 calories, 42 grams carbs (10.9 fiber) - 2.2 miles on the treadmill

Carbs were a lot higher than expected. I ate out at lunch, thought I made good choices, but came in at 25 grams when I tried to recreate the meal in ******. At least the vast majority of the carbs were from good foods.

The scale has been stuck a the last four days. I know it means nothing, but after dropping a pound a day last week, it's a little disappointing to bounce around the same pound. I guess that's just week 2!

Checking in. Things are going good here. I have not been overly hungry and cravings have not been too bad. The only thing that needs adjustment is getting on the dreadmill. Mostly a time issue, but last night a motivation issue. I decided to decompress. The issues that have sidetracked my focus have eased. I am going to get on the tread today.

Despite the setbacks I feel much better when my carb load is light. Last month when carb intake was high I just didn't feel good. I have also been diet soda free since Christmas Day. Still have a case of diet Dew on standby. My new craving is a good cup of coffee with heavy cream.

Hope you get better soon, Ken. Nagging illnesses can be a killer on motivation to eat right and exercise.

Huff - I found that the only way I can stay away from the diet soda is to just not have it around. I can't get past the attitude of it being carb free, so I can indulge. I let it run out at the house and told my office manager to not buy anymore for the office. I too am a coffee with HWC junkie, but only one or two cups in the mornings. HWC really packs a ton of calories.

Checking in. Eats are still on track. We have been trying out some new low carb. recipes lately and found a couple that are pretty good......some are really, REALLY bad. Last evening I made pork and mushrooms with "gravy" and it turned out ok. I would make it again, but not for a month or more. My wife made a spicy chicken breast with avocado salsa and it was excellent.
I took the night off from exercise last night....was still a little sore and just plain lazy. Today is my son's 9th birthday, so we will bring him out to dinner. I plan on eating low carb and don't think it should be an issue.
I still haven't given up my diet soda yet...good for you that did (Huff and Big D)! Keep it up.

Peace!

Harley- mind passing on that chicken and avocado salsa recipe? That sounds awesome!

Big D - you are right about getting rid of it. I'll have to find another junkie to dump it on!

Decided to check in....

I tried to eat and drink myself to death between Thanksgiving and the end of the year....

I officially started my "diet" on January 2nd.

1/2/2014: 218.2
1/9/2014: 213.6
1/16/2014: 213.2

I've joined a class at the local gym called "cross training". It pretty much involves doing random stuff that the teacher makes up on the fly for about an hour. My heart rate monitor says that I'm burning about 700 calories per hour. I haven't gone to a class yet where I wasn't on the edge of throwing up. It's supposed to get easier, but I'm not counting on it.

I take the cross training class 3 days per week, and I lift weights the other 3.

Diet wise, I'm following the IIFYM plan, which stands for "If it fits your macros". The basic premise is, "If it fits your macros, then you can eat it."

Theoretically, you "can" eat anything you want, but if you want to hit the correct amounts of carbs, protein, fat, and fiber, you can't really..... It's all just a fantasy...

So far, I've been able to say "no" to 3 different cheating opportunities.

"Do you want to go eat donuts today?"

Well, of COURSE, I want to....Geez..... Am I going to? No. It's too close to January 1st to start cheating.

Great job, everyone. Harley, that's a great name for a treadmill.

Kudos for everyone in trying to kick the diet soda. Against our wishes, my mother in law purchased a bunch of Keurig K Cups that contain a bunch of artificial sweeteners. We threw them out. Studies show that artificial sweeteners pack on the weight, somehow.

Burpee Challenge? That sounds interesting.... I can't say fun, though

Hey Guys. Checking in on a Friday Afternoon.

Went out to eat for my son's birthday last night. I had the riblet-type things with the BBQ on the side.....a little dry and terrible, but I stayed the course. I had a couple of bites of the coleslaw which I am guessing they added some sugar due to the sweet taste and veggies with cheese. I did have 1 bite of the ice cream to celebrate his 9th year.

I just got in from trying to move some snow so I can get my truck out of my back garage.....it has been blowing pretty hard here and the retaining wall I built when we moved in seems to catch every snow flake that blows, so it is a constant battle. I had to shovel, use the snow blower and my 4 wheeler with a plow on it to move the rock hard stuff. I think I am going to consider this my workout today as I was huffing and puffing and sweating like a pig. We will see how I feel tonight after the fam goes to bed.

Stay Strong this weekend!

Peace!

Oh and Huff....I will post that recipe when my wife gets it to me. I think she got it on Pinterest or some chick site like that.....I almost put a smiley face because I am sure someone will take offense to that but I remembered the rules and refrained.

Peace!

Day 11 - 2773 calories, 60 grams carbs (27 fiber), 2.3 miles on the treadmill

Stupid high carb day. Went out to dinner and had literally 10 chips with a bunch of guacamole and 3 miller lites. I should have just used a fork with the guac. I guess I'll do an extra week of induction to make up for it. WEAK

Bulk - welcome back for the new year. Sounds like you are off to a good start.

Harley - I can honestly say that I've never had to shovel, blow or move snow in any fashion in my life. On the rare occasion when it does snow here, it is usually a small amount and gone within a day or two. Feel free to remind me of this when I am complaining about a 100 degree heat wave in May.

same thing here, still on the lower carb, the scale is moving pants fitting better,

working a lot lately, pulled a sorta all nighter at work but they paid me well so it was worth it,

i have less than 2 weeks to my trip to vegas and i have about 7 or less lbs to lose by then, im sure i can do it, the wife is on board with my meals, and she shopped for LC stuff so things are good there,

being at work yesterday for 35 hrs straight was a food challenge for sure, but i was able to work things out and eat very low carb, non breaded hot wings and omelette this morning worked out well,

keep it up guys, things are rolling here very nicely

Not a good day, not a bad day. Ate carb heavy today. Did not over do it, but so know it will have a cost. Did do a 5k on The dreadmill. Look forward to the recipe. Never used pintrest. Maybe it is worth checking for low carb.

Good to see you Chasing Bulk.

Day 12 -2210 calories, 27.1 grams of carbs (9.0 fiber). No jogging.

Much better eats day for me. Not eating out helps a lot. Despite going a little off plan yesterday, the scale has steadily crept downward the past 3 days. I should post a nice loss for the week.

Ken - good luck with your Vegas goal. At your weight, 7 pounds in 2 weeks will be tough. If any of us can do it, it would be you.

Huff - my wife has pulled some good recipes off pintrest.

Happy New Year, Gents !
(what year is this, anyway? ...getting old....)
This may be a 'drive by' as... ..Dallas? once called it but, if I may, I'd like to pop in here and there, with any progress in, once again, losing the excess.
Been years..back when, saw a pic of Epix with reddish wig and did not post a 'cut back on the biotin, Pete' I'd wanted to.
Generally, past year and a half saw a HUGE loss of emotional-baggage weight, charcoal-colored lead clouds dissipated and I'm mentally ready- determined once more- to lose the regained, for most part, adipose. I'm not into Zen or spiritual programs but a positive-thinking habit is alive and kicking and may be the key to making what years are left happier- and hopefully healthier.
I'm 61 now (holy crap) and I think I have finally decided what I want to be when I've grown up - Grey and Gorgeous.
Some medical concerns at present, but I do not want that to deter me from my goal-if need be, leave a beautiful corpse.
My plan this time around will not be lo-carb but, even with eating more nutritionally, the bread and 'cake and coffee' habit must finally be extinguished.
later, guys.
Mack

Mack - Good to hear from you. Hope you can address those medical concerns. Love the outlook of Grey and Gorgeous!

Yesterday - not so good on self discipline, but not a loss either. Friends, good beer, and good food. Life is good! I felt the choices I made were good in light of the food choices in front of me. I am going to continue working back to induction but I am just not quite there yet.

I did get 2 miles on the dreadmill yesterday morning. Definitely a win considering that was Saturday morning.

Not a good day, not a bad day. Went out with my wife to our favorite Mexican restaurant. It is impossible for me to hold out when it comes to chips and salsa. Kept the drinks to water to make it up. I did, against my brain's wishes, get a 5K done on the tread tonight. I am calling the weekend a draw. I anticipate being down a few pounds for the week so I am going to set my sights on next week and look for more success.

Heck of a weekend for NFL football. I am just old enough to remember when conference championships and the super bowl was not very exciting. There was usually a clear winner for the super bowl before it was even played. Two weeks from now, I have not a clue who is going to win. I want Denver to win, but I would be fine with a Seattle win. I am just looking forward to watching a fun game.

Hey Guys,

Jan. 6: 238
Jan. 13: 238
Today: 242
Up 4 lbs. from last week.

I went off the reservation this weekend in a bad way. My son's friend birthday party was at the movie theater in town with 14 kids. I had 2 pieces of pizza and small piece of ice cream cake. Then I couldn't watch the movie without popcorn, so I ate a bunch of that. Yesterday I went ice fishing early in the morning (and most of the day) and all we had for a quick grab was pop tarts and granola bars......so as you can see, I ate very poorly this weekend.
Today is a new day and a new week. I am planning on drinking a ton of water to flush that crap out of my system and hit the exercise hard.

Peace!

1/6/14 - 230.6
1/13/14- 223.0
1/20/14 - 219.4

Nice first two weeks. Goal 1 was reached - Back down to my November 1 weight at the end of induction. Goal 2 is getting down to my 2013 low weight of 211. March 1 is my goal for that.

Day 13 - 2946 calories, 35.3 grams carbs (7.6 fiber) - 30 minutes riding bike
Day 14 - 2334 calories, 37.7 grams carbs (3.2 fiber) - no exercise

Lots of work around the house and yard on Sunday, so I'm calling that my exercise for the day. Carbs were a little high both days, with alcohol being the main culprit. I'll abstain for the next week or so to get those numbers back in line.

Speaking of alcohol, anyone else get really bad hangovers on low carb? A moderate amount of alcohol gives me a pretty nice headache the next morning. Maybe I should clue in and just not drink at all!

Big D - Nice drop; good goal.

I have learned to drink water while imbibing. It is my experience that dehydration is the key factor in the hangover experience. Combine that with dehydration that occurs in ketosis and I am sure that is why it is such an issue. Try more water.

Good Morning.

I was successful getting back on track yesterday. I kept the carbs very low (about 12) and drank plenty of water. I will continue this for the week so I can completely clean out my system again.

The alcohol seems to really hit me hard while limiting carbs.....I turn into a real light weight. I don't seem to get the hangovers like you describe, but I cannot have more than a couple or I am completely hammered. Must have something to do with ketosis or something.

Peace!

I do drink a lot of water, especially in the first month or so of being strict low carb. It helps that I eliminate just about everything else that I drink and replace it with water. I imagine I intake 120-150 oz of water every day. Maybe I should start tracking that, too.

hey guys,

i havent been posting any weights really , but been keeping track,

so far im down 8 lbs in the last 2 weeks, from 183 to 175

another week before i go away to vegas for the weekend, the goal was to try to get down to 170 or under, may or may not happen, already 8 lbs has made huge differences in my clothes, and i feel a lot better,

getting that hollow feeling again, but i should be increasing ffrom induction levels now, that will help,

will have to start throwing exercise back in the mix as well.,

keep up the good work guys, all seem to be doing well

Is Pizza low carb? I really hate being off schedule. So far I am still losing poundage. I've cut out a lot of the binge eating that was an issue a few weeks ago. I do great until evening. I think I need some new recipes and flavors to stay on track. I did do a 5K on the tread, so hopefully I negate some that pizza. I admire the discipline for those of you keeping carbs low!
