Thank you so much, all of you who painstakingly explained why weighing can be A Good Thing!! Honestly didn't know. My weight fluctuates wildly, I discovered, with so many variables that for *me*, working out what tight clothes fit better is so much easier...

Mimosa, SO sorry you've been zapped with a snotty cold. Gute Besserung, sweetie x

Kissa, just backwarded (is that a word? Why not, if "forwarded" is?) a bit too far by accident and discovered your definition of a weed. Still laughing. Thanks!

Cabbage lovers, oh I am with you all!! Damned good thing, huh, seeing as I live in Germany?

Lola, that sounds like a fabulous weekend - how did it go?

Shy, sorry about the holiday!! Have you managed to book it for a bit later?

Aitch - congrats on the loss!! And am flabbergasted to read of this hailstorm. Was sunny here today - like spring!! (I'm on the Rhine, in Germany.)

SlowSure - thanks for the virtual coffee :-) Much appreciated!! Do keep us updated as to the German baking - still seems too sugary for my taste...

Anyone I missed - apologies!! And hope you're all off to the start of a great week.

I still don't feel comfortable in those dratted velvet trousers. Have until the beginning of March to get there, though! Otherwise, due to the weighing/measuring thing, was thinking, hmmm, apart from the very top bits, my legs are never going to get much better than this. After the horribly still summer, they have regained their shape, and whilst it's not the same shape as for e.g. Kate Moss's, it's as good as I'm going to get.

Love to all!!

Juno x

Morning all!

Juno, you make me giggle! I am so with you on the cabbage, good thing I know how to cook Dutch traditional foods, it is pretty similar to German food. Keeps the BF happy, LOL!

Cold has practically gone. I think it is because I really stuck with my diet, and I overdosed on vit C, vit D, Magnesium, Probiotics and spirulina... On the other hand, it could be all that fat I eat nowadays!

No huge news, I seem to be fairly busy at work today, at least that's how it looked when I started my day. We'll see...

My menu:
B: BPC
L: BPC with added whey protein
D: smoked mackerel, maybe some saurkraut on the side, maybe not... For the rest, not sure yet, will have to browse the fridge when I get home.

xxx C.

Hello! Still alive if a little 'bruised' emotionally. Too many friends sad or dieting.

Also I have some kind of ongoing virus ? which is causing me to feel continually under par. Headachy, stiff and bad tempered.

Stood on the scales for the first time in over a week and it wasn't bad, 12.8.

Will catch up later but just want to send greetings to everyone.

Yes, I am just not my usual positive self, and poor DH bears the brunt of it of course.

But this too shall pass.

By the way, you are getting so little! Brilliant work.

Hi all!

Nothing much to report, apart from that I actually have muscles, they ache, LOL!

Feeling fine, the cold went away as quickly as it came. Only lasted 3 days!

I'm sending good thoughts to all with sniffles, Ailuros and Kissa hope you get well soon!

Shy, did you find a nice gym?

Lola, cabbage day sounds nice, reminds me to go buy some more, LOL!

Mint, how did the move go?

Juno: are you having cold weather now? We are, unfortunately that isn't going to last. More rain Saturday!

Slowsure: how are you?

Aitch: did you see any more scale movements?

Everyone who's lurking: pop in, hope to hear how you are doing!

I keep waking up at around 4 am and then not falling back asleep for an hour or so. By the time I get up at 6 am I feel exhausted! Really annoying. I need to get out of this rythm somehow.

My menu today all depends on hormones (TOM), so it is very vague:

B: BPC
L: BPC with whey protein or sardines
D: ground half and half meat with whatever takes my fancy!

Have a good day everyone!

xxx

I’m feeling a bit better now, but this thing has come and gone a few times, so I’ll wait a few days before saying it’s really finished!

I’m just about to move from low calories on alternate days to just two days a week. I’m about 117 at the moment. I don’t know if the 5/2 will stop weight loss, or just slow it down, so I want to try it before I get to a weight that’s anywhere near the lower end of my comfortable range. Also, I now fit into pretty well all of my small clothes, & if I get too small for them, it could get really expensive!

My local, Council-run, sports centre charged £11 per swim for non-members (and you were only guaranteed 45mins).

...Slowsure: how are you?
It's good to read that your cold improved so quickly - and what a pest about your recurrent sleep disruption.

I'm well, thank you. I'm clearing up a fair amount with the non-stop rain/bits of flooding back in Herts (both for me and former neighbours). I'm sick of cleaning and painting but it has to be done altho' this isn't a good time of year for painting and it's far too wet to dry readily.

I think that both Carly and Dawn initially carried on losing (albeit at a slower rate) until they adjusted their kcals to suit the pattern and their maintenance needs. I know a fair amount of science researchers who adopted 5:2 and lost remarkable amounts of weight (mostly chaps, and, like your DH, they mostly opted for abstinence on their DDs, so to speak).

Kissa, I hope that your neighbour's final few days are as comfortable as they can be. And that your recently bereaved/distressed friends come to some peace of mind. Look after yourself.

Juno, I shall see what I think when the books arrive and I finally get to look through some of the recipes. The ones that I looked at make interesting use of fruit which is good to see.

General to anyone I've missed and I hope that things are well with you.

Just looking at the calories, it seemed that if Iím losing about a pound a week on an alternate day pattern, it might be around half a pound on 5/2. If so, by the time you allow for disruptions like holidays &c losing half a pound a week in between those could be a reasonable way to stay at about the same weight overall.

Ailuros u must be nearly at your comfy weight now?? Your plan makes sense to me

Slow I think although it's 5:2 u can't just eat anything on the 5, some control is still needed otherwise it won't work. Sorry to hear about the continued decorating not the best time as u say but needs must

Kissa more hugs for u cos there is nothing i can say to make it better

Glad u cleared that up lola!!

Well new place is council but us £26.50 a month for off peak gym/swim trouble us u can't use gym during day as school use it BUT u aquarobics during day is included which is sort of gymish and I only do 20mins or so in gym.. Hmmm decisions decisions

Shy, yes, I’m more or less in the comfortable zone — but high enough in it that if I drop a few more pounds in the transition, it’s not a problem.

I’m not actually counting my calories. My obsessive tendencies don’t need that kind of encouragement. But the eating days aren’t “eat as much as you can.” Not too restrictive either. I’ll see how it goes.

It doesn’t help that a lot of the intermittent fasting variants market themselves that way, talk about “feast” days &c. Not all of them. JUDDD gives calorie targets for both up and down days, and some of the 5/2 variants do too, but a lot give the impression you can go completely wild. It makes for better publicity, I suppose.

That's an amazing deal. The cheapest membership in my (used to be) local Council fitness centre was £460 for off-peak and you have to purchase a year's membership, lots of restrictions, no gym/use of the weight room at all, and schools use the swimming pool for much of the day.

I'd really like decent access to a pool for swimming and aquarobics.

As per Ailuros, I agree that the 'Feast Famine/Fast' rhetoric is very unhelpful. None of the researchers I know went overboard on their Up Days/normal days which is probably why they've had decent results.

Even better found one £27.50 a month can go anytime gym and swim which includes 3 aquarobics sessions a week if wanted. On,y downside is it's packed in school holidays between 10 and 5. Half the price I am paying at the moment and half the distance. Got trial day on Monday

Slow come join me at mine, it is essex tho so maybe bit of a trot lol

Mimosa correct away please I won't feel bad, feel mor bad when I get it wrong lol

Just popping in before bed. Thanks for all your lovely kind wishes. My dear neighbour is still fighting on, they made them tough back then.

My headaches seem to be lessening and I wasn't aching today, so hope whatever it was is leaving me.

Saw Coriolanus at the cinema tonight. Wow. Harrowing but excellent.

Cindy, sending hugs!!!!!! Hope you will be fit again soon, and also sending good thoughts for your neighbour.

I don't have much to report, another person is leaving our team here in our office. It is one of the people who is a real disturbing factor, and a non-team player, so I can't say I'm really sad to see this person go. Hopefully the last one left who is a problem will realise that they need to pull their pants up and get on with it and try harder! The pressure is on...

I have decided to follow the example of making gym 'appointments' and have set two for now, just as long as my back rehabilitative fitness lasts: Wednesdays at 18.00pm and Fridays at 16.30pm. Mondays is my back fitness, so once that is over I'll add the Monday as well!

No huge weekend plans, I'm off to the gym after work today and then this weekend we will be cooking up a storm, probably. Planned to make some broth, some protein bread, and we're having a big pork roast at some point too. That, and there's quite a bit of laundry, cleaning and clearing in the house to do!

So have a healthy, relaxing, dry and good weekend everyone!

My menu today:
B: BPC with added whey protein
L: small tuna salad with tuna, saurkraut and olive oil and a sprinkling of nori flakes
D: omelette filled with herbs and a bit of cheese

xxx Chloe.
