Jan, it’s weight loss has a large mental component for me too. All through the time I was regaining weight, and sitting at a higher weight than I wanted to be, any of the weight loss plans “worked” but I just couldn’t muster the drive to actually do them. There were some physical issues, and I would have needed to take it slowly, but the real obstacle was not having the energy to focus on doing it.

Hey hey my lovelies...I am back in the cold climes on the UK brrrr ha ha.

Jan: Congrats on the grandchildren due...you will be very broke now!!

Juno: Great to see you back and we all slink off and back again but we did miss you. Also sorry about all the accidents with the duck fat and falling over. I am the queen of falling over I can tell you lol.

Mimosa: Sorry about the back pain it is so debiliating and starts to really really get you down I know. The camera that you bought is the same one that we bought my DH for Xmas last year and is really lovely little camera - good buy.

Ailuros: Hope that you can get the plumbing and heating sorted once and for all you must be freezing are you moving from London to Hertfordshire or are you already in Hertfordshire?

Kissa: Glad that you are getting the extra weight off from Xmas etc. You look fab in your new Avatar...

Hi Vicky wherever you are and hoping that you are back in the club for losing weight in the New Year.

Slow Good to see you too and doing so well on your weight range...you have all done so well. Good luck with the move.

Shy: Sorry that the motivation is hard to summon up but I think because of the pain you in that isn't helping its making you feel so low and down so sending hugs and keep those scales out. I am sure it is the way forward for you. I am sure that you will have lost if you stick with LC...cos It's worked for you before.

Hi to Blotto wherever you are. It was her Birthday a couple of days ago so belated wishes to Blotto. YAY

Good news is that I only put on 3lbs YAY which I was so pleased about as going straight on holidays after Xmas I was worried it would be more like half a stone..phew. That's soon going to come off next week. However, Mimosa I need to be with you. I just seem to stick in the same place and don't go down. Think I need to focus more on actually what I am eating wrongly which is holding up the process. Thinking of trying JUDDD again or even the 4 hour window that you mentioned Mimosa. Can you eat what you want in the 4 hours or is it JUDDD?

Can anyone please also help me with the 500 cals day with a plan of what and when I can eat. Is it best to leave all 500 cals to the end of the day and have one meal or split them over 2 meals of 250. Also a couple of sample menu's of what you eat Kissa or Ailuros on DD would be such a help. Thank you

Jan, well done!!!!!!!!

Lola, nice to see you back here! I'm sure you'll drop the weight in no time.
I actually did JUDDD with LCHF, and then saved up my calories for one meal in the evening. It suited me best. I now fast, but will drink a BPC in the morning and one in the afternoon, which adds up to 500 calories, and then have a well balanced meal in the evening. I make sure I eat 2% from carbs, 23% from protein and 75% fat. Takes a little calculating, but with a little practice it becomes routine. I am not really counting calories as such, but I seem to be at around 1200-1600 calories a day, depending on my evening meal. Hopefully this will shift things a bit! I'm giving it a month and if I haven't lost more than a couple of pounds, I'm going to have to go back to EOD fasting with LCHF.

Shy: WOOHOOO!!!! well done, that is a fabulous result so far!!!!!

Everyone else: Hi!!!!

Not much to report: no weight loss, even retaining a little water... I was good food-wise but had lots of wine on Saturday evening, so I'm bloated... Hoping it will go and take a couple of pounds extra along too!

My menu today:
B and L: BPC with a little pure whey protein
D: eggs, bacon and cheese in some way, garnished with half an avocado.

Mimosa I used to do the same BPC coffee breakfast and afternoon then lowcarb evening meal and poss a snack then Nothing til next morning BPC again, lunch dinner and no snack. Repeat as required lol. That's what I am aiming to get back to. I should add I hate breakfast so is easy for me to miss it!

Partly moved in, with more to do this w/end. I'll be between London & Herts for a while with the commute being shorter because of London place.

Great start...5lbs YAY.

Mimosa thank you for sharing. I.ve just had 2 coffee with a little cream so far today and will have some carrot soup laters to keep to 500 cals.

Glad the moving going OK Slow. I am sure that you will love the rural side of living in Hertfordshire.

Yay on 5 lbs shy. I think missing breakfast is always good. I don't enjoy it either unless it is a full on brunch with friends or family.

Seems we are all knuckling down for the New Year.

Lola, you know there are hundreds of great DD suggestions on the JUDDD threads. I am inclined to have nothing more that coffee until evening, if I do eat during the day it is likely to be an egg or occasionally an apple.

Today I was hungry at lunchtime, after a good workout, so I had toast and a small mackerel fillet that was liking. But it is an UD

Hmmm, mackerel, I love smoked mackerel, Cindy! Hope you had a nice UD.

I lost a little weight, so amended my stats. Hopefully I'll keep seing a downward trend! I had back rehab class yesterday: Ouch! Had to do tons of body weight core exercises and awkward stretches. I realised I am terribly unfit, and am aware of muscles I didn't think existed! And despite that, and all the water I'm retaining in my muscles today, I managed to lose 1.4 lbs!

My menu today:

B and L: BPC with whey protein
D: ground beef, feta, parmesan and a cup of bone broth

Have a good day everyone!

I am sure you knew I meant lurking, not liking Mim... Yes I love smoked and pickled fish. I hope to have lots of herring done in interesting ways on the Norwegian ship.

Hope you soon get over the discomfort and start to feel the benefit from your physio.

I am slowly get back into my fitness regime after a pretty poor end to the year. I know what you mean about feeling 'lost' muscles.

Heading off down to Devon shortly, 2 weeks down there is always good for the soul. But then, when we are in town, we enjoy all the wonderful theatre and the Heath on our doorstep. I dread the day we will have to choose between them.

By the way, kudos to Ailuros who has lost 20 pounds in 6 months on ADF without counting a calorie. That is a cause for some very serious congratulations!

WOW 20lbs that deserves a big round of congratulations.

Thats good news Mimosa...down is the way forward

Yes core muscles are so important in maintaining a healthy back. So try to keep them up cos they will help stablilse your body. So hope that you can get some relief soon from the pain.

Good Dd for me yesterday. May have gone over a little but that's OK I've started the plan. So UD today but will be controlled and count properly.

Hi all. I've been pointed in this direction by Mimosa so here I am.
Nice to meet you all. I hope I will soon get to know everybody.
I am Heather and I live in Milton Keynes, England. I am 52, nearly 53 and lost three stone last year but still need to lose a lot more. I am diabetic, insulin dependent, so my diet helps a lot with that.
Great to meet you all.

Hello, Aitch, good to have you on board, we all do our own thing here but are great at offering advice (wanted or not sometimes) and support.

You have done so well already and Paleo is a great way to eat, so good for your condition. Looking forward to getting to know you.

Hi Aitch, nice to see you found us!

BTW, I'm Chloe, 37, Dutch but live in Germany now. I have a lovely BF, a dog and I'm struggling with losing weight because I have no self control and I'm coping with back problems and inflammation.

That's all for now, I'm sure you'll find out lots more about us from here!

Hi ladies,

Wow, Ailuros, I hadn't realized you'd lost 20lbs. That's awesome - well done!!

Mimosa, glad you're on a downward trend too! And Shy, to have a 5lb loss must have been a lovely surprise!

Hope you're adjusting well to colder post-vacation climes, Lola. Love how you're always so upbeat

Have a lovely break in Devon, Kissa. I have enjoyed getting reacquainted with Devon on visits to my sister since she moved there a few years ago. It's gorgeous!

Pleased to hear that your move is going well, SlowSure - moving is always a bit stressful, though, even when everything goes to plan.

Hello Aitch and welcome to the group. I am another 52 year old! I have been in the US for 20 years, but am still totally British at heart (and accent!). My parents live near Harpenden, so not too far from your neck of the woods.

Weight wise, I have been stuck at 135lbs for 5 days now. I'm beginning to wonder if my body's trying to tell me something. LC means low fibre, and with my medical history that's not good…….just pausing for thought……I may rethink my diet next week.

Hello to anyone I've missed

Hey Jan good to see you. Thank you for the compliment. Once you get out of the dreaded M phase you feel so much better - or that's the plan lol Hopefully I am out the other side now (except for the sleeping issues which still raise their head from time to time).

I think that our bodies have a level at which they are happy I truly believe that. How many times have you seen people lose weight and reach goal only to put a little bit back on afterwards (I know some people put loads on) but most people seem to hop up half a stone and I think that you then toggle backwards and forwards between the lowest weight and the set weight.

I understand completely what you say about fibre cos its an issue that I have to have in my diet too.

Slow: Hoping that you are not too invaded by cardboard boxes and can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Kissa: Bet you are nearly back to your weight after the Xmas celebrations

Shy: Sending hugs and hoping that you are having a good LC week too.

Blotto: I know that you will be back soon

Vicky: Also wherever you are.

Ailuros: I must admit I didn't realise either that you had lost 20 lbs...gives me even more inspiration to carry on with JUDDD not that I really need it after Kissa's success as well. you are both an inspiration.

Mimosa: Hope that you are not suffering with pain too much and get regular appointments with the Physio and are working on the core muscles ha ha.

Aitch: Have a good week are you doing LC, Atkins, JUDDD?

Hope that I.ve not missed anyone.

I.m in a training day all day and its a DD so that will be good cos I cannot pick at things whilst being at home. Will eat a token piece of fruit of something similar at lunch so not to draw attention to myself. ha ha.

Enjoy

Morning all!

Well, I think starting the back rehab fitness is a good thing! I'm in pain but it's the muscle ache type pain, not the horrible shooting back pain type. My physio is very happy with my progress, and even though I am still experiencing days where things aren't so good, I can now help myself better and get out of the whole pain cycle by stretching and exercises.

This has motivated me a bit more, and I don't feel so helpless. I'm doing a Kundalini yoga class tomorrow, to see how I find it. I know it's a lot about meditation and such, but there are a lot of movements and stretches that will help me. Also, I'm a bit airy fairy, so I'm sure it's something I'd like, LOL!
I actually got on my rebounder and did some bouncing and I walked the dog yesterday evening. All in all very satisfying.

I ate lots of protein yesterday evening, and thought for sure I'd see a gain from water weight, but nothing. The loss seems to be stable, yay!

My menu today:

B and L: BPC
D: omelette with three cheeses and bacon, cultured organic saurkraut as a side.

Have a lovely day everyone!

I hope all the exercise helps your back, Mimosa! Tell the yoga teacher that you have back problems, and if any of the movements feel risky, ask if he or she can suggest an alternative/adaptation. If the class is too big for individual attention, then just miss out anything that your back doesn’t like.
