I'm carbing once a day. Keeping it simple.

I'll adjust that as I go along if I need to

I'm here, I sure need this fresh start. Starting off on induction, plenty of water and exercise.

Deb love that quote. So are you starting the year off juicing twice a day??

THANKS FOR THE NEW THREAD

I am doing CAD. VLC breakfast, all LC snacks if I have them, Lunch of whatever happens for lunch during tax season, and eggs and meat for supper....(DH and I had conversation today over restaurant lunch, and he said he would prefer Breakfasts in the evening.....and I jumped on that one BigTime. That would make life so much easier for ME!!!

Easy to cook, no planning required, and staying on diet plan!!!!

There may be hope on the horizon for me after all

Off-topic---Mom gave me $100 for XMas, and local store and a 2" memory foam topper for king bed for $80.....so I bought it for myself. What a gift to me! Slept excellent last night!!

Hi Deb and everyone,
Basically I'm ready to lose this weight. I'm a former foodie. I say former because that is all behind me now. I'm looking ahead for a skinny 2014. So I'm joining your challenge and gonna start off my plan with Stillmans and then I'll go from there. Probably do a little atkins and soup diet. Whatever gets me there. Hoping the best for us all.

Welcome Francis ! I'm not sure what Stillmans is

Karen great buy! I have a foam topper at the LH but it's not memory foam.

Deb juicing and fasting you're more woman than me!

Misty I needed the fresh start too. A new thread always gets me going.

Had a good day. On track.

feeling good here...had a good supper last nite and didn't snack

which is key for me for sure...lots of energy this morning so I hit the Y and did a 20 minute run/20 minute bike and a 10 minute elliptical followed by a nice 10 minute shaker machine

best thing about working out at the Y is I drink lots of water..working on my 5th liter of the day

is everyone drinking there water?

I would like to join you ladies, too. A new year and a fresh start is what the Dr ordered. I have been successful here in the last couple of years and through a combination of Atkins '72, homeopathic HCG pellets and a rogue plan, followed by just a nice summery plan of eating lots of fresh fruits and dairy, I got to less than 20 lbs of my goal. Then for some reason, I lost my focus and lost hope (apparently.) I say "lost hope" because I "slid" all the way back to almost my exact starting weight. (I'm 230 +/- right now.)

I am not sure if I will stick with Atkins '72 or if I will keep changing my methodology but I have to do something and I have to KEEP doing something. I can't stay where I'm at. Not for a single month more. I can't breathe when I bend over to put on my shoes and socks, I huff and puff with the slightest effort and I have only a few clothing items that fit me. I keep washing and wearing them over and over again. And I am in so much discomfort to my back, knee and hip joints, etc.

So, that's me. I like the motivational image you posted and would like to contribute one that I found online yesterday while I was searching for inspiration. I hope it speaks to you, too. I have much to look forward to in the new year, if I can make it happen. I think I need company.

Happy New Year!

new people. Looks like quite a few new ones. We are a good supportive bunch that love to chatter about anything.

Pat good to see you here. Are you back at yoga again?

Karen is breakfast for dinner working? That would make things a lot easier.

Deb you're really getting back at it !

I'm on track too. Doing my steps. We are family over for dinner tonight. Some ribs we smoked over the summer. we only had a 1/2 of a tree down at the LH from the ice storm so not much clean up there. DN cleaned the home yard while we gone did some hazels today.

Don't these look good !

Healthy Chickpea Poppers

Prep Time: 10 minutes

Cook Time: 15 minutes

Yield: 4 servings

Serving Size: just under 1/2 cup

Ingredients
1 can rinsed & drained chickpeas
1 tbsp olive oil (or coconut oil)
sea salt
chili powder
garlic powder
onion powder

Instructions
1.Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
2.Line a cookie sheet with a Siplat liner (or parchment paper if you don't have one). Spread well-rinsed chickpeas evenly atop Silpat.
3.Thoroughly pat dry beans with paper towels. The more moisture you remove now, the crunchier they will get.
4.Drizzle olive oil on beans, spreading evenly with a basting brush.
5.Heavily sprinkle chickpeas with sea salt, chili powder, garlic powder and onion powder. There are no amounts for the spices listed above because this is really according to our taste. You will use a lot more spices than you think you need, as the beans are quite bland by themselves. I recommend tasting one here and there, adding more spices as necessary.
6.Use a spoon to mix around the beans, making sure they are all evenly coated with spices.
7.Bake chickpeas for 20-25 minutes, checking periodically to make surer why aren't burning. This step is quite important, as most oven don't have consistent temperatures and will require varied baking times. You'll know they are ready when the beans are becoming a rich golden brown color.
8.Once you notice they are almost ready, turn of the oven, leave the door slightly open and let sit for a few more minutes.
9.Remove from oven and scoop onto a serving tray (otherwise they will continue to cook further).
10.You can also let one cool and test to make sure it's crunchy enough for you. If not pop them back into the oven for a few more minutes.
11.Enjoy!

Chickpeas. Humus. My unsophisticated palate Pat will like it.

Yeah Deb we're still repairing the damage from that. Oh so slowly.

Still juicing?

I didn't realize this was kind of an ongoing thread where you all knew each other so well. I feel very late to the party. Maybe I'll start one for people on my plan, beginning in January. I don't like feeling like I'm the one who doesn't know anyone. YKWIM?

Best of luck to all of you in 2014! God bless you and may you each reach your personal goals.

CherylB, don't go I'm new too!

Other Cheryl, Stillmans is more or less a kick start kind of diet to get things moving! It can be very inspirational, but I wouldn't call it a long term diet without tweaking it up a lot. The main theme is low fat style of atkins. There is a thread with this diet.
