2014 "NOT ANOTHER FAT SUMMER"

I originally posted this on the main board.... but this is where it really belongs. Yes... me again.... well... I figure one year .... it will stick!!! Planning to start my challenge on New Years... not that I plan to be bad between now and then... just that it is a good date to technically start I figure it is a hair over 24 weeks until June 21 (beginning of summer).... actually 171 days. So ...... I need to get some of this weight off.... I want to ride again (horses) its been 40 something years I am 60 heading into 61 and one of the few things I ever really enjoyed were horses. Now I cant afford to own one at this point in my life..... but I think I can swing a lease. Anyway.... I do not want to put my approx. 230 lb butt on their back.... I just dont!!! I would feel so blimpy... and beside that.. I just need to get healthier and most of the problems I have (that I am aware of) are caused by my lifestyle.... aka: weight and no exercise.

I can use company in my quest to change.... all are welcome. No specific diet.... just what works for you, since we are all different

Kinda think that covers it.... Fat is different to all people.. to some... being 20 lb over weight is fat.... to others it could be more. I have approx. 70 lb. to drop.... I want to be 160 and I am at about 230 now. I will weigh on New Years morning to be sure. I will also take measurement... may list them... may not... that is a personal decision for all.

So... think about it... and join me on the 1st of the New Year and actually make it a NEW YEAR!!!

I'm overhauling my eating and exercising and will join in. I haven't been to the pool or waterparks for three years because of the weight I've put on and REFUSE to be missing out on summer activities because I'm ashamed of the extra weight.

Girl.... I can't begin to tell you how much I do not do because of my weight..... and this has went on for so long. What was Shawshanks saying.... "Get busy living or get busy dieing".... ITS TIME FOR ME TO START LIVING.

Headed to Planet Fitness today to check it out. They have a 99.00 for the year special.... thought I might do that. I am not a big gym rat so this is cheap enough that if when warm weather comes I dont go as much since I will have outside things to do... well... not a biggie.

I'm in! I've been looking for a summer thread the last few days. I have a bikini that I bought last year that I've never been close to wearing, I'm going to dig it out of my closet and put it somewhere so I'll have to see it all the time as a reminder/motivation. Really, I'll just be happy if I can just wear shorts comfortably. Don't want to be stuck sweating it out in denim again this summer. I'm doing an atkins/keto mix. Today is my restart since I've been off plan for months. I originally started low carb at 165lbs and I'm now at 190. I have some compulsive eating/bingeing type issues I'm working on. I hope I can get it to stick this time too!

I am SOOOOO in! According to my fitness software, my "final" weight loss goal is due to be achieved by June 6 (my birthday), so this challenge will help keep me on track.

Yep.... I had been looking for one to start also... and when I seen none I said.. crap... just start one yourself and it basically says it all.... I do not want another fat summer... not this fat anyway. So wish for a bikini... but at my age.... well... lets just say I dought anyone would want that sight

My goal date will be my birthday June 11th. I'll weigh in and post my goals on the 1st. I almost said "after" because I wasn't sure of our plans for the rest of the week, but that's my first goal: Stop making excuses! If I plan to live a lean and healthy life it's time to figure out how to enjoy life without over indulging.

Looks like we have a great crowd shaping up!

HERE I AM!!!!!! ok....I'm soooooo in it to win it!!!! I WANT 160 by June 1, 2014. I HAVE GOT to be there. My ultimate goal is 140 but 160 by June....I will settle for no less....I have challenged myself with working out for 30 minutes each day....30 minutes on a tracker says these 3 activities burn 383 calories for either jogging, exercise machine (elliptical) in my case or Workout DVD such as 30day shred. I would like to stick to 1500 calories a day intake. I HAVE no EXCUSE!!! and with your support this I feel can be done! Good Luck everyone and Thank you in advance

I have joined several challenges in the past, and I've only completed one. Hopefully this one will keep me motivated. I have been trying to get below 200 for a long time now. I think it's almost become a mental block for me. I will get within a few pounds of it and then go on a three day binge. I am determined to meet my goals in 2014.

I would like my goal to be at 175 by the summer. That would put me at losing 101 pounds. I know I can do it if I just put my mind to it.

I'm in with you ladies So are we actually starting on the 1st? Sweet poison,I am 62 and it is a totally different challenge getting the weight off now than when I was younger but I know we can do it I have a g-daughter getting married in July so I know I will be in pictures!

Well.... seems as we are growing.... thats great... the more the merrier. I bit the bullet and joined Planet Fitness today...... there special until the 31st was a year for 99.00 plus tax... that makes it like 8.91 a month with no connection to my credit card or bank account... I was good with that.

I just turned 35....just to give an age, I def lost better in my 20's and can use everyone's advice as to how to eliminate age as a factor for slower loss, would more exercise boost my metabolism...I just watched a commercial for "......system" that has a rev up your metabolism shake and a cut cravings shake....got me thinking, AND another commercial that just had women who were older and FIT mocking age as to say "im a victim of slowing metabolism....NOT" and hocking some metabolism healthy boosting vitamin....I would love to say that growing older isn't hindering me to lose but as you just pointed out may be it is!?!? Have you found anything that helps your metabolism rev up??

It's great to see this group growing!

I'm 46 and losing weight has been impossible for me. I know my problem is my diet and I'm going to be cleaning it up along with increasing my activity and trying more things besides just walking.

Today was my first day towards the challenge. My mindset is in the right place to be successful and today was a success with my food and exercising. I'm restarting weight watchers and plan to be completely honest about my food intake since that is my weakness.

I'm in. My goal is to get down to 175 by official summer. That is a reasonable 1.5 pounds per week.

I am looking into joining a gym on Jan. 1. I went today, but the salesperson suggested Jan. 1 for a better promotion.

I'm eating meat, veggies, eggs and some dairy. When I am working, I usually use personal trainer food to make planning easy and keep costs lower than eating out.

friend..... We can do this. I am not allowing anything stop me this time... it has to happen. I have wasted so many years of my life not being all I want to be. I am passed bikini age... .but I can still be hot for my age.

I'm starting today! My ideal dream-weight I believe is somewhere in the 140's but I would be extremely happy to achieve 175 by summer. I lost 16 lbs last summer and stalled from late August to current. As of 2 weeks ago, I had not had any gains, but I'm afraid I did put a few lbs back on within the last week or so.

I'm 42 and my metabolism slowed down drastically in 2005..thyroid is ok, but now I just simply can't eat 'whatever i want' nor can i NOT exercise. Atkins has been my favorite WOE, and seems to be what my body handles best. My favorite form of exercise is walking and when the weather climbs up to 40 degrees, I'm outside walking whenever I can. For now (this morning it was 1 degree) I will hop on the treadmill a few times a week to at least stay somewhat active. I work from home and my job can keep me on my butt for hours without me even realizing it. I enjoy sharing low carb meals that I've made and love it when others share what they make for dinner/lunch etc...as it helps me stay motivated. I'm excited to start and I can't wait to shed some clothes this summer!

I'm thrilled to see so many people posting How many can go the distance until summer? I plan on being one of them
SweetPoison,that is great that you joined a gym I have to get off my butt and do something.I love to walk but have arthritis in an ankle I broke and sometimes it gives me fit if I walk too much.I will get moving somehow I was thinking today that I have really gone downhill in the last 5 years since it started giving me trouble.The Dr said getting some weight off would really help
