Amin81, I wanted to thank you the other day for taking the time and posting what you eat and your exercise routine.

Not much news here. I'm still about 246. I'm hoping to break 246 by the weekend I can't wait to see that number on my scales.

Official post-binge weigh-in: 143.2.

I waited a day to weigh in because I wanted to get back on track. I gained two pounds. Not the end of the world, but still. That's more than a week I set myself back with a one hour binge.

I plan to have another DownDay today to use up my glycogen stores and maybe drink some dandelion tea to help get rid of extra carb water I might be retaining.

My weight is holding steady and making me happy. I would like to get down to 145 if possible. I'm exercising consistently and constantly changing my activities. I continue to get firmer and hope adding some muscle will help me burn fat. My original goal is to wear a bikini this summer and I think it's a very doable goal. It won't be pretty but it will be much better than missing out on summer activities. I did buy some new shorts that are a medium and some 9/10 capris. I'm looking forward to summer for the first time in three years.

My 14 year old got a fancy fishing boat the other day and can't use it without an adult. We are going to use it together and it's my motivation to continue getting fit. We will be on the water a lot and I want to soak up the sun in cute summer clothes.

Actually, to get back into deep ketosis I have changed my mind; I've decided that today will be a fat fast day (1500 calories at 90% fat), then tomorrow will be a DownDay, then Friday will be another fat fast day. By Saturday hopefully all the carb-related water weight will be gone and I'll be back in the optimal ketosis zone.

Hoping to be in the 160's by April. Finally got back into an exercise routine (3 times per week- Zumba and Yoga. Keep up the great work everyone!
That's fantastic! I haven't checked in for a while either. I have not lost 23 lbs and begun exercising 3x week, lol. However, I have been eating better and moving more. I have a new middle # to enter.

All in all, however, I'm disappointed in myself especially with respect to food. I'm truly an addict and I need the accountability of checking in somewhere.

I have a hugely busy day today, so I will just say: my fat fast worked! I am pretty much back to my pre-binge weight. Today's a DownDay, then another fat fast day tomorrow. Tomorrow or Saturday I'll check in with a new low weight and a blood ketones/glucose reading.

Happy Friday!!!

This challenge has really changed my mindset towards food and exercise. My determination to not have another fat summer has really changed the way I'm doing things. Earlier this year I would go to bed at night and mentally plan my breakfast for the next morning and it wasn't a nutritious meal. Now when I go to bed I'm planning my exercise for the next morning. I look forward to getting up and working out which is new. It's no longer a chore. I'm trying exercise videos I've had for years and never used. I now like using weights and challenging myself. I've been a walker for years but it was no longer effective and I think the change has really helped me break a plateau. I've gone out to eat too many time this week but it hasn't caused a weight gain. I used to gobble up everything on my plate and now I'm able take 1/4 to 1/2 of it home. I would really like to get in the habit of taking at least half home but haven't gotten that far yet. The little changes have really changed my outlook and helped me mentally and physically.

I really enjoy reading your post because they are so uplifting and positive. Food portions are a big deal to me too. Lately I have been using a smaller plate when dishing up my dinner. Keep up the good work!

Wow.

But a fat fast surrounded by two down days turned out to be more than my body could handle. I was deferred from donating plasma today because my iron levels were one point too low. I bought a liquid iron supplement; I plan to take it tonight and again tomorrow morning. I'll try to donate again tomorrow.

Almost there!

Good news for me this week. The scale said 125.8 this morning so I am so frickin close to my goal weight. However, I still don't look Bikini ready so I must need to loose another 5 pounds or so and tone a bit. I did go shopping for some more vacation/summer shorts and was amazed that my sizes at JCpenny must have changed. There were so many options and I kept picking too big of a size.
Ultimately found 2 cute pairs at American Eagle (one of my friends turned me on to that store recently, she is pear shaped like me, so I got over the "preppy" aspect of the store since they do have nice jeans) one size 8 and one size 10 (more wiggle room for end of summer where there will be so much yummy fruit between our house and our Michigan hangouts). They tend to run a bit smaller there vs JCP so it feels like an accomplishment vs my 9's.

I am loving this Low carb diet and finding it easier and easier to say no to the goodies that show up at work. Walked past mini snickers on someones desk atleast 50x this week. He always seems to have something to share, sometimes I get lucky and its pistachios or trail-mix i can have a taste of. I brought in some beef stick ends before (super cheap at Hyvee) and people were saying they looked like dog treats (although atleast 1 person agreed they are addictive). May have to bring in some pork rinds to share.

Other than that I plan to try out some new recipes and do some spring cleaning, house is a disaster. Made up my own recipe for ground turkey pizza this morning which was delicious but weird looking. The turkey looked suspiciously like ground beef when cooked but was better than when I tried flattened chicken breasts as the crust.

Hope all are having a fun and possibly productive weekend yourselves.

Awesome that you are so close to goal! Sometimes the goal moves when you get close to it, and that's OK. You want to be happy with your results, and you seem to be all about health and fitness and not just being skinny.

WTG walking past all the poison on your coworker's desk! Pistachios and trail mix would be HUGE triggers for me, but if you can manage them, kudos to you.

--

No weigh-in for me today, but good news! I took a new liquid iron supplement and it did the trick, in spite of the fact that it tastes like honey-dipped rusty nails and has six carbs per dose.

I brought my hematocrit up from 37 to 41 in one day! I was able to donate plasma again this morning. It is important to stay on schedule, because they give you bonuses for donating twice a week consistently.

I expect to be out of the 140's by early next week.

Da na na nah.....

25 pounds of sickly fat gone forever!

I ought to be in the congratulatory mode but the only word comes to mind is shameful. When I think about how much my poor heart had to work to carry around that extra 25 pounds, I am in disbelief. I love you my heart.

I spent most of the weekend at my granddaughters three year birthday party. My goodness do my granddaughter, all of her friends, and the parents have a lot of patience and energy. Not me! The weather was so nice and beautiful--I forget how beautiful all the colors are in California when I drive over there.

I started packing today to go back to school. I'm trying to limit each suitcase to a little under 50 pounds because of the extra costs at the airport, and boy books sure do add up. I ended up buying the suitcases that look like they're made out of plastic and they seem to work pretty well. My cats are running around the house crazy because they know what it means when the suitcases come out.

I've been trying on all of the clothes before I put them in the suitcases. I'm already tired, hence the break and posting here. And my room is now a disaster with piles of clothes to go to the thrift store, clothes to throw away, clothes to put in another suitcase, and an I don't know what to do with pile.

Okay, I have to get back to work. I hope everyone is having a great day!

good job everybody!!! I know what you mean about loving your heart....I'm down almost 25 too and man, I just carried in my dogs 28lb bag of food and was like that's what I have lost.....it's quite surreal to think of a giant bag of kibble strapped all over my body....Good for us for not quitting, giving up and going for the gold....I know that 15lbs down every stinking cute thing in my closet will fit!!!! come ooooooon shake it shake it !!!

Mayleesa- I love your dog food example. I looked at the bag I bought yesterday and lifted it up to get an idea of what I've lost. It was a 16 pound bag (about half of what I lost in the past year) and it seemed heavy and bulky. It's shocking to think I was wearing that extra weight on my weight. It was a good visual reminder to be diligent with a new way of life so I don't get heavy ever again.

It's so fantastic reading everyone's happy posts! Really feels like we've got a lifestyle going for everyone, rather than a diet. Proud of all of you!

Tuesday weigh-in, keeps me accountable but I have realized I shouldn't get on those scales more than once a week! That's one of the keys to my new-found balance and not obsessing.

Last Tues: 68.9 kg (151.9)
This Tues: 67.3 kg (148.4)

This means I've reached my original goal! Which then turned into the semi-goal in time for my friend's wedding. And it's still 3 weeks until the wedding so woot woot!

I can't stay off the scale this week - but I go through phases. I know I should stick to once per week...I'm so bad!

Donating plasma is ruining me! I had been adding a few additional carbs on donation days because supposedly the plasma donation uses a huge amount of blood sugar. I mean the plasma is supposed to take 64g of glucose and 44g protein out of my bloodstream, so I have been adding back in an additional 15-20g carbs on donation days, plus 30g or so of extra protein so I don't lose muscle mass. But apparently this is throwing me out of ketosis so I am going to change my approach. Probably the amount of glucose the plasma donation is supposedly taking from my bloodstream is very different for me. More likely they are getting a smalal mount on glucose and a whole lot of my ketones instead. So apparently, in my case, adding in extra dietary carbs is actually doubly counter-productive.

From now on, I am going to add in only the non-negotiable additional carbs from the liquid iron supplement (it's sweetened with honey and has 8g carbs). I have found a source of liquid iron online which has no added sweetener; it should arrive soon (crosses fingers). I will continue to add a protein shake (add'l 20g protein) the day of the donation.

3/4:147.0
3/6: 145.6
3/8: 145.2
3/9: 144.2

3/19: 143.2
3/20: 142.0
3/21: 140.8
3/25: 140.8 ugh

I am experiencing a mini-stall. I am certain 140 is another set-point for me. I have hung up here in previous weight-loss attempts, too.

Portia - Thanks! And I think there are plenty of people who weigh like every day. Go with what works for you! For me, once a week is the good balance point.

Nikki - wowser. How long are you going to be donating for? Not just a once every three months gig like blood donation, obviously. Very cool that you're figuring all this out and making it work with your lifestyle. The stall will break eventually!

I would be careful about dropping the carbs too much. I'm amazed you can give so often with this lifestyle, kudos to you for doing it though, helps a lot of people.

We are having a blood drive next week at work but i'm too scared to do it. Had a really bad experience about a year ago when LCing. I had went back on the carbs for just that day, orange juice, G2, plenty of water, the works thinking I would be fine. I completely passes out 2/3 of the way through. They had to tap my face to wake me up. And as an unfortunate side effect...I pissed myself ...oh the horror to have it happen at work. Luckily they do it at the end of the day and I could leave. So I have been putting it off until I can manage a much higher carb level in maintenance. It pisses me off too because they call me basically every month asking for donations (I'm an O).

Maybe that was an over share. Keep in mind though...make sure you pee before you go!

It is easier to donate plasma than to donate whole blood. I would certainly pass out if they didn't give me back my red blood cells. As it is, I am wobbly and nauseous when I get finished. But eating back carbs isn't working for me. I had a HUGE stroke of genius! The reason is because there really isn't much glucose IN my blood to begin with. It's mostly ketones I am loing in the donation, and it's mostly ketones I need!!! That's why my ketones are lower than they should be: because they are taking them out of my bloodstream in my plasma. And in my case, a low blood ketone reading doesn't necessarily mean I am not in ketosis. How did I not think of this sooner?

I bought some raspberry ketones and I will be taking them immediately after my donation to fuel myself - without adding sugar. I will also drink my protein shake and eat 1/4 cup blueberries so there will be protein and a small amount of natural sugar.

I know it goes against what they say to do, but I always skip the coffee and go really light on the fluids the morning of my donation because the more fluids I drink, the lower my percentage of red blood cells to plasma and the more likely I will be deferred due to a low hematocrit. So I go in slightly dehydrated and I drink a whole lot of fluids immediately afterward, before I leave the lobby. A whole 8 oz protein shake and a 12 oz bottle of water. Plus my fruit and the veggies I bring with me. They are always trying to get me to drink Capri Sun coolers and eat their poisonous uber-processed cookie packs, so I show them that I have brought real food and they leave me alone.

Checking in today. Had a little too much fun last night so am paying for it some this morning. LC dinner at a friends house to watch the redwings hockey game and few too many drinks. They started low carbing a few weeks after we did.

I'm maintaining within a pound of my goal weight which is good considering I had a pizza roll binge earlier in the week. None are allowed back in the house for a while.

As for good news, a lot of my seed starts came up. So far broccoli, cauliflower, kohlrabi, and tomatoes have shown up. Still waiting on the bell peppers but i think they take longer. Hoping the boyfriend will take good care of them while i'm on vacation next week, leaving Wednesday night.

Hello all! Finally started dieting after 6 months of etching my weight creep up. I didn't weigh that first day, so I'm starting with 180 who knows. I feel like I ate a lot today. But on plan. Last year I tried nutritional ketosis. A couple of times but it gave me heart palpitations no matter how much sodium I supplemented with. I have quit exercising recently and need to do it again. Next couple of weeks are going to be super busy so I'll be moving a lot. Made a bunch of food Sunday so I have stuff in fridge. Hoping for that initial woosh of first two weeks to keep me motivated. Maybe get out of fat pants level II by Easter! Back into regular fat pants

Hi all and happy April! One month closer to summer and we're still here, pretty awesome really!

Tuesday weigh-in after a long weekend at home. I was pretty good but obviously not perfectly on plan with eating out so much and I did give in to some candy on Sunday.
Scales sloooowly inching down now but it's a loss so I'll take it!

Last Tues: 67.3 kg (148.4)
This Tues: 67.1 kg (147.9)

Three weeks until the wedding. Hoping to hit 65 kg by then but might be a real stretch. Maybe more realistic to aim for being somewhere 65 point something. =)

175.2 this morning. I know that it's mostly water, but very happy to be away from 180.

I'm still in this challenge after four months. This is the longest I've stuck with any challenge. I'm still making good food choices and exercising in order to be ready for summer.
