Woo hoo! That is awesome about your summer clothes that were too big. The job, keep up the good work. Your progress is a great inspiration.

When I was in my 30s I too found out that the lack of sleep made me feel worse than alcohol. I used to think that hangovers were due to the alcohol but in reality it was lost sleep that took me at least three days to recover.

Congratulations on your weight-loss. Old photographs can be a motivator. Keep up the good work!

Weigh-in day for me.

Last Tues: 71.5 kg (157.6)
This Tues: 69.5 kg (153.2)

Big big deal for me to come down into the 60s kg range.
I still don't quite trust our scale but as long as everything keeps fitting better and better, I won't panic about the number.

I'm also thinking about adding some vitamins into the mix, specifically Omega 3 and Magnesium. Anyone have any experience with these and advice when to take them etc?

I have a blood condition that prevents me from donating blood, but I was able to donate plasma yesterday for the first time ever. The initial interview/physical was pretty invasive (and loooong) but I am happy to be able to help. Not to mention, unlike whole blood donation, they PAY you (the plasma is for pharmaceutical development, not for emergency use).

I found out, though, that it really depletes your body. So I had to eat far more than I ordinarily would on a DownDay to replenish my protein, because I don't want to lose muscle tissue. I ate two additional eggs and several Weight Watchers cheese sticks. And still lost weight!

Here are the stats of the plasma they take out of you:

110 lbs - 149 lbs
690 ml Plasma:
483.69 calories
Protein 49.51 g
Carbohydrates 63.65 g
Fat 3.45 g

Hah! I have found my new weight loss plan! lol/jk Donate twice a week and it's like burning almost 1000 extra calories. Plus $$$.

3/3: 147.0
3/5: 146.0
3/6: 145.6
3/8: 145.2
3/9: 144.2
3/11: 143.8

lol nikki! My husband used to go donate plasma. He actually had an acquaintance who started going to different clinics for the money ... didn't turn out so well. Silly of them to not check that he was giving in various places but there you go. Anyay, he ended up skinny and with green-tinted skin. Not so healthy.

Grats on the loss!

In our town they have two clinics and they work together to verify that you aren't donating at both locations.

It makes sense that they do. Not sure why these ones weren't doing this at the time. But I think they learned their lesson.

My scale read 247.5 this morning. Woo hoo! Okay so it may not stay there because I did not eat dinner last night. DH and I went over to our new neighbors house for hors d'oeuvres and cocktails at six o'clock and ended up staying there till midnight. I ate a couple of pieces of cheese and some little hot dogs that were lathered and sugary barbecue sauce. Yuk! By the time we got home last night I was too tired to snack and I was exhausted from paying attention to the conversation for six hours.

Both DH and I have had this weird headache for the past three days. It is really strange that DHS headaches because he gets one or two year unlike me that struggles on a weekly basis. My headache was odd though it was at the front of my four head not like one of my typical migraines that is usually on the right side behind my eye. Anyway, I got up earlier to make the coffee and noticed an open bag of coffee. It wasn't our usual cheapo coffee from costo so I asked if he had been using what was in the open bag from our trip. DH said yes he thought it would be a treat. Well, that tree from our vacation is decaf! Oh my, we have been going through caffeine withdrawals for at least three days.

I like my scale today. My weight was 149. I always wait a few days before changing my stats to make sure the weight loss isn't a fluke. I've lost six pounds in the last month which is a major accomplishment for me. It really helps to exercise and watch what I eat. I'm doing a variety of exercise videos and think it's made the weight loss possible.

Thanks L2L. And no, I don't mind posting a bit on what I've been doing.

Exercise - that's the easy part: I get at least 13K steps in every day. Usually I start the day with a 40 min power walk, gives me a boost of 6000ish steps. I tend to skip this at the weekend coz the hubby and I walk a lot around town anyways.

Food - I do 16:8 intermittent fasting, meaning that I skip breakfast and only eat lunch and dinner and those two sometime between noon and 8pm (my 8hour eating window).
I do start my morning with coffee with a dash of heavy cream and will have one more such coffee before breaking fast.
When I first started this, I would eat lunch exactly at noon. Today, almost two months later, I can easily go until 2pm and it's not even painful.

Lunch is almost the same every day since I found the salad place close to my job - they make the salads to order and these are awesome. I tend to get bacon or chicken, blue cheese, radishes and kale as my toppings. Today I had tuna, pickles, avocado and kale. I always get their vinegrette, which I'm sure has some sugar in it but it doesn't seem to impact the loss in any major way.

Dinner is LCHF and varies quite a bit. Basically it's a side of some sallad variety (I go by gut feeling on how many carbs these are from last time I did Atkins and try to keep it to about 6 carbs) and protein with its more or less fatty sauce and this can be anything from goulash (made with sour cream) to chicken cooked with coconut milk and a dash of tamari soy sauce (gluten-free) to salmon steaks served with garlic sour cream to home-made burgers with false bearnaise (made with sour cream, stock cube and tarragon).

We used to do even more cream and sour cream sauces but I've started replacing quite a few of them with coconut milk to keep the lactose a bit more under control.
Oh and of course I drink a zany amount of water every day.

Okay, enough babbling from me. Hope it helps.

Ow man, today has been a huge unplanned cheat day. As bad as the cravings were the last few days it's just going to be worse tomorrow when I try to get back on plan after all the junk I've eaten. I don't think I'm going to weigh in the morning. I'm much to chicken for that. lol

Life is a series of unravelings and then periods of rebuilding. Praying that your chaos will soon level out into something more manageable.

I met a man last week who has lost forty pounds over a period of four years. That's right, he has lost ten pounds a year, and that was OK with him. He figures, if he can lose weight sloooowwwwly over a period of years just by making permanent lifestyle changes, then those changes will stick better.

I agree with that philosophy but, like you, I am personally too impatient to wait that long. On the other hand, it really is the best way. So be encouraged! Any progress toward health is still progress, whether the scale shows it or not. Eating healthy and trying to be more active is ALWAYS worth it.

I had a nice loss this morning. 141.8! I had to step off the scale, reboot it, and step back on just to be sure. I haven't really been exercising excessively or changed my diet much at all. I did add a new supplement, an improved iron supplement called "Blood builder" because the plasma donation center told me my iron was almost too low to donate. Which I knew, I have always been chronically anemic even though I eat well and take various supplements, including iron and sublingual B12. Maybe the more absorbable iron helped improve my metabolism. As I get closer to goal, mini-whooshes are few and far between.

Mayleesa, 0.8 is still a lot! Remember weight-loss is linear. Sometimes the scales cannot give an accurate description on the amount of weight one has lost. Do you have a exercise plan? And do you mind posting what you're eating every day?

Good Sunday morning everyone ,

I'm here to say that I lost another pound, that's 24 pounds since January 1st.

Today will be another one of those lazy days. I'll do some laundry, list more books on Amazon, and maybe going to town and pick up a few items. I have the corn beef but I do need to get some cabbage. I also need to organize the folders that are on my computer. But, every time I get on I end up surfing the net.

Have a wonderful day!

Mayleesa, You are doing great with the .8 loss! Stress is definitely a player is the gain/loss game and you are overcoming it. Think back to your old ways and how much you would be likely to gain if not doing LC when you are stressed. Would you be eating that pint of icecream or drinking a 2 liters worth of Mt.dew to make you feel better? Grabbing whatever junk was fast for dinner since you have other things going on? No you are taking charge of your life even if it seems that all you can control is what you put in your mouth. Eventually things will settle down and you can look back at how good you did with what you were given.

Anyway off my soapbox..

I lost a few pounds lately. Not sure how sustainable it will be since I managed it while laying around the house. Got what the doctor called an ulcer in my right eye, basically a pit, which made it hard to open my eye. I was miserable Wednesday at work (with contacts in) and had to take Thur/Fri off since my vision was iffy at best. Yesterday it finally got better, almost no cloudiness in vision, only aversion to bright light. Back to work today but wearing my glasses and some Birthcontrol safety glasses over them. Need to get some exercise and cleaning in now that I'm better. Spring can't get here fast enough!

Hope everyone has a good week. Maybe the woosh fairy can make some rounds!

Hoping to be in the 160's by April. Finally got back into an exercise routine (3 times per week- Zumba and Yoga. Keep up the great work everyone!
Wow wee! You are doing awesome.
I love Zumba but yoga makes me hurt really bad. Congratulations on getting back to the exercise routine!

L2L that looks so yummy!

Mayleesa - hang in there! Any loss is a loss.

Tricia - nice to "see" you again and way to go on that exercise!

Weigh-in day for me. Was nervous as usual, especially after a weekend in Italy but I kept mostly on plan and the reward:

Last Tues: 69.5 kg (153.2)
This Tues: 68.9 kg (151.9)

The coolest thing here is that I was basically never even tempted to stray into old eating habits while on this trip. My husband had sugary stuff, wine and ice cream and while I tasted a little of everything (except stuff with gluten), nothing set me off into cravings. One spoon of ice cream was enough as I knew more sugar would just not make me feel good.
We even had pizza - mine was gluten-free and I had 2 slices of the actual crust and then just more of the topping and it was awesome.
I've Never had such a relaxed attitude to food before, it is a liberating feeling.
Hope above makes any sort of sense and isn't just a rant. I just wanted to share as I feel like this is what I've been aiming for - a lifestyle, not a diet.

I love lazy days! There are too few of them in this life. Hope you enjoyed yours thoroughly.

I made Dreamfields (low-carb) lasagna the other day for the family, but it was a DownDay so I had not planned to have any. However, after an emotionally draining week and an insanely busy weekend, my resistance was at an all-time low and I binged - and I do mean BINGED - on lasagna. Thank God it was Dreamfields. But still, I ate thousands of calories of the stuff. More carbs than I have had since October. Ugh.

Then the next day (yesterday) I was ravenous all day long (thank you carbs) so I overate yesterday too, though it was all low-carb stuff.

I haven't weighed in for two days because I have been waiting until I stop feeling bloated.

Today I am back on plan and I am not giving up! I plan to weigh in tomorrow and hopefully the damage will be small. I expect to see a one pound gain on the scale tomorrow morning and then I can progress downward from there.

I think one overeating episode since October isn't too bad, so I'm not going to beat myself up over it. Just dust myself off and move on. However, note to self: NO MORE LASAGNA. lol
