I think you are gonna have another whoosh since you've been working out so hard. Don't worry, you are doing great!

The other day, I decided to go on a hike since I felt guilty that we are on vacation and all I do is sleep in the hotel room. The first part was pretty good, then I felt like sprawling out on the trail and waiting for someone to carry me back down to the car. That day most likely set me back.

I had my phone interview with a school I've been trying to get into. I got in! I was a bit surprised since I wanted them to accept ALL of my previous classes and I coughed and hacked throughout the interview. One of the board members kept asking me if I wanted to reschedule the interview. Boy, were they matter of fact. And boy, can I talk. I finally got the jist of the interview questions and just made 3 or 4 minute answers without trying to carry on a friendly dialog.

My eating has been so, so. I am not eating very much, but what I eat is not at all on the diet. I actually cannot wait to get back home to be on a routine again and stand on my trusty scales.

Just wanted to peek in and say I'm still here. Not checking in often but I am down 11.5 lbs. from my start date which will be two months this week. When I started I had hoped to be further along but realized it doesn't matter how fast it goes as long as it is going. I'm just proud of sticking with it and it has gotten a lot easier to do so. I may not be at my goal weight this summer but I will be thinner than I was last summer and that is an accomplishment!

Did a mini fat fast yesterday because I felt like my metabolism was getting sluggish. I had never done a fat fast of any kind so this was new for me.

It seems to have worked! I ate far, far more calories than I usually do, but it was all fat, and I am seeing results. But eating all that fat made me feel nauseous and I am not sure I want to do it three days in a row. Bleah. Still, I think three days will net me better results; maybe I can get deeper into ketosis if I stick with it for three days... hmmm... still deciding...

Yesterday my poor old dog injured her foot so instead of walking her I went for a run; I did Couch 2 5k. It was ridiculously hard! I have always found running to be really hard no matter how fit I am otherwise. Even when I can do an hour on the elliptical doing intervals and can leg press 200 pounds, I still have a hard time with running. My body hates the impact (big boobs) and I just feel weak. I think my Thalassemia (a form of anemia) probably hinders my blood oxygenation at high demand times like running, which doesn't help.

Anyway, I did it! And I plan to do it again tomorrow.

Mayleesa, I am wearing a 14/16, it just depends on the type and brand of jeans.

L2l - grats on the job and hope you're getting better, that was some nasty bug you caught there.

mayleesa - big grats on the big 2-oh loss! And hang in there, those jeans will fit after another woosh.
Think maybe we need more woosh fairy pictures here!

nikki - awesome job on the run!

Vella & L2l - thanks for the insights and I totally agree, now is the time to work on the self-image as much as on the weight. I wouldn't even have gotten this far on this path without the work already done to love myself but it is a work in progress.

Next weigh-in tomorrow. Basically all my pants are now falling down, even the stretchy jeans that used to be my faves as they were so forgiving, so it will be interesting to see what the scales say.

Just Checking In

Checking in, Same ole weight this morning, 131.2. I slacked off my workout this weekend and had a lazy time. Also have been pretty hungry lately and going a little over my allotted calories but always on plan. May not be drinking enough water again causing hunger sensations. Need to do an egg/cheese/meat day or 2 and see if I loose just a touch more to finish off February, the end is coming fast!

Weigh-in day. First week that the drop is not one kg or more but I reckon that was too good to keep happening anyways. This is likely more realistic.

Last Tues: 73.3 kg (161.6)
This Tues: 72.7 kg (160.3)

I'm longing to see the 60s (kg range not pounds obviously) as I really don't know when the last time that was, probably in my teens.
Even at a slower rate, I should be comfortably there by my friend's wedding on April 19th, yay! That is the main aim for now.

I can't go every day, I'd DIE. lol running is SOOO hard for me. But I'm hanging in there. Did it again yesterday, but this time I made up my own custom intervals in my Runkeeper app. Instead of 1 minute run, 90 seconds walk, I did 1 minute run, 2 minutes walk. The extra 30 seconds of recovery time between running intervals did the trick and I was able to complete the workout. I think I will hang at this level for two weeks before I up the difficulty. So it's not really Couch 2 5k but more of a slower-paced, self-styled plan to work my way up to eventually running a 5k. I actually DO plan to run a 5k someday but I am going to listen to my body and take my time working up to it. As I have said before, any workout that leaves you unable to work out again for days afterward is counterproductive. Baby steps build a lifestyle. For now, it is enough that I am getting out there and trying.

My dog's leg is still hurting her, so I only was able to walk her for a little while last night before I had ti turn around and head back home. Poor baby, she is getting old. Plus she has lupus so she just never feels 100% well. But she still needs exercise!

This morning my blood ketones were the highest they have ever been in my entire life. Which means the three day fat fast worked -like magic - and I am now deep, deep, deep in ketosis. My blood ketones this morning were 4.4 mmol/l, which is actually a bit too high; according to the experts it should be between 1.5 - 3. But my blood sugar was 80 so no worries about ketoacidosis. Just some freakin' amazing fat burning going on! I didn't think that was even possible for my body! My metabolism is apparently really resistant and my liver was holding on tight to some glycogen stores. Which will probably happen again even though I keep my carbs <25 on UpDays and <15 on DownDays, since my metabolism is so resistant to ketosis. By the third day my liver had given up its glycogen and the ketosis was deep in the optimal range for the first time, ever, in my life. My conclusion? I think I will do a three day fat fast once a month.

However, with all the extra calories my weight has inched back up a bit, which is unusual for me. In all fairness to my body, the fat fast was VERY high in sodium compared to my usual diet, so that probably has a lot to do with it. Nevertheless, it seems I have benefited all I can from my three day fat fast so today is going to be a regular (uber-low-carb) DownDay:

GG's Crispbread with a Laughing Cow wedge for breakfast
Hard boiled egg & celery for lunch
Omelet for dinner

Veggie broth, herbal tea, Crystal Light, and sugar-free jell-o as needed.

Like mayleesa says - new month is approaching! How amazing isn't it that we've done two months already? That deserves a big applause

We have friends coming this weekend so last night I let the hubby fill up the house with things that I basically won't touch - wine, beer, cheese (might have some of that but Not the baguette he will get fresh to go with), chips ...
This will be a struggle though as we generally booze quite a bit with these particular friends and will be going out for dinners (so my eating hours will be thrown off).
I am determined to stay on plan as much as possible just because I am not nearly there yet, and I want to be!! I so want to be.
I appreciate all good thoughts and strength you can spare my way.

February did fly by me--wow March on Saturday----I love St. Patty's Day, Corned Beef and Cabbage are some of my favorite foods all year long---and low carb!!!

I think my journey has brought me to a point where balance is key. I understand that many on this board have to "abstain from carbs". For me, for the long haul, I have to learn that balancing everything helps me to keep a balanced mind. When my mind is balanced my weight becomes healthy. Weird?

Tomorrow I go in for my follow up visit with my Dr and I'd hoped to lose a decent amount in the month between visits but all I managed to lose was 3lbs. lol Before I found low carb the only way I knew how to lose weight was to severely restrict the food I ate to a few bites a day until I was down a few pant sizes. I'm glad I know a better way now, even if I lose slowly sometimes. I do want to step up my game though since spring is just weeks away! I want to do mostly meat and eggs for March. Maybe with that I'll get to see the 170s two days in a row for a change! lol

Since our goal is "Not Another Fat Summer" I thought I'd mention that I am going on a retreat to a conference center with natural hot springs. Sooo, I had to pry open the drawer with the bathing suits and try them on. Ugh! Still can't wear most of them! But I have a two-piece tankini/skirt thingy which looked tolerably good, so I am feeling OK about going in the springs, assuming the rain clears up for a few minutes on Friday and/or Saturday night.

No matter how much weight I lose I will always need a LOOOONG skirtini anyway, since the droopy skin on my upper legs looks like a much older woman's (or like a woman who has gained and lost 60+ pounds several times). I like the skirt bottoms from Land's End because their length is quite modest.

Anyway there are two suits in that drawer which I could almost squeeze into, which were from a few years ago when I had lost weight last time. I am going to be able to wear them again this summer. THIS IS MY YEAR TO GET FIT AND KEEP THE WEIGHT OFF FOR GOOD. End of story.

146.6 this morning. Slowly creeping downward.

I haven't checked in for awhile and got caught up on everybody's progress.

Mayleesa - I hope your dog continues to feel better. I love Great Danes. The only reason I've never had one is because of their short life span.

Nikki- You are dropping weight like crazy! Good job.

Amin- Your recent post makes me want cocktails and appetizers. I loved going out on the weekends for drinks but had to give it up if I wanted to lose weight. It's worked but I crave adult beverages on a daily basis.

CK- How tall are you? 131 pounds seems skinny to me no matter what height a person has. I haven't seen those numbers on my scale for years.

I ordered new jeans last week in a smaller size and when I tried them on they all fit! I haven't been this size for two years when I packed on 30 pounds going out to eat and drink every weekend. I'm down two pounds for February. This is a huge accomplishment because I'm really close to my goal weight and find it even harder to lose the closer you get to it.

I would like to see 150 by the end of March. As long as I don't grow out of my new jeans I will be happy even if the scale doesn't budge. I'm trying to do more exercise videos that use weights. It really makes a difference in how my clothes fit to tighten up my flab.

Have a great weekend and keep up the great work.

That doesn't sound weird at all, 4my, it sounds balanced and healthy! Something to sustain for life.

L2L - thank you! And yes, I do have a dress in mind that is back home which I'm desperately hoping will fit when I go pick it up at the end of March. Otherwise, I have 18 days to find a new one. Luckily, we have a trip planned to London where sizes are more forgiving than in Paris in that timeframe so I will deffo be able to find something. It has to be pink or gold as these are the wedding colours and I'm the matron of honour/witness.

Phase - how did the Docs visit go?

nikki - you go girl on those bathing suits! You Will look great! And I'm with you, this is THE year for me too!

ValR - eeek sorry, didn't mean to set off any desires for cocktails! And yay for the jeans!

And so far so good on the friends' visit! We went out for fondue last night, I had a meat one and got a sallad instead of potatoes to go with. And I just looked the other way when we went home and the other three continued to munch on chips and have champagne.
Phew. I can do this!

I'm down two pounds for February. This is a huge accomplishment because I'm really close to my goal weight and find it even harder to lose the closer you get to it.

Have a great weekend and keep up the great work.
I am about 5'4 and somewhat curvy. I haven't been 125 in about 5 years at which point I was welding during the summer and eating fresh garden veggies everyday. I might be able to get a little lower since i'm not quite as muscular as in those days. 135 used to be my "Fat" weight but now some of my smaller size 9 jeans that I wore then are still a little tight. That said I can never sqeeze into size 7's ever, its always the range within size 9/10. Does anyone else have this problem? Congrats on your Size change!

The booze seems less worth it everytime I do it over the weekend. the hangover is indeed worse.

I did make my goal weight for the month within the last 2 days, 129.8 this morning, repeat of yesterday. 128 will be my goal for March. I rhink the 1 day Egg/meat/cheese fast helped so I may do that a few times this month intermittently.

And so far so good on the friends' visit! We went out for fondue last night, I had a meat one and got a sallad instead of potatoes to go with. And I just looked the other way when we went home and the other three continued to munch on chips and have champagne.
Phew. I can do this!
It went pretty well, thank you. I found out my vitamin D levels are pretty low at 19 so I'm taking a buttload of the stuff. I'm hoping my energy will pick up now and I've read that low vit D can make it harder to lose weight and ditch sugar cravings so I shall see how it goes. lol

Ow! Fondue! That sounds amazing. Nice work on sticking to the good stuff!

Weight is up from eating off plan the last three days. Son's birthday was Wednesday and I've been on the road for work the last few days as well. mardi Gras season here so it has been real hard to stay on plan. Back on it today. Weight was up 2 lbs. I reached my goal yesterday but I overdid with the eating yesterday.

Starting weight is 243.4. I hope to be at least 235 by the end of the month. I hope to also start exercising on a regular basis. The only thing is that this is the busiest time of the year for me at my job. So we will see if I can find a little time eacxh day. I usually work 12-14 hour days 6-7 days a week for the next 6 weeks.

Good job on maintaining in the 70s.
How did you find out your vitamin D levels were low? Is that from a blood test?
