I gave up Artificial Sweetner today as my new years resolution. So far its fine as I am not hungry or craving. Besides the queasiness I am doing fine. I'm just taking it one meal at a time. Eating when I feel hungry, which isnt much.
We are close in stats... I am 233 at 5'5".... I am sure at 60 years old... I am older......

Poison -I am 42. With 3 kids, 19, 13 and 12.

I had my first carb dream today. I dreamt I was eating a 1lb chocolate chip cookie but when i went to chew it stalks of undigestible, inedible wheat kept being in my mouth. I kept trying to chew it but they wouldnt break down. Also in the dream I was so skinny that when every body went swimming, I had on a fur coat and decided to go skinny dipping. All my cousins were trying to steal my fat clothes. LOL!

I was at 183.6 this morning, down from 185.0 the day before. I rang in the new year with quite a bit of rum so I'm sure the drop is water but.. I managed to avoid the chips and watched my friends roast marshmallows without being tempted by them!

My official starting weight is 160 and I need to lose about 15 pounds to make my doctor happy. I will be thrilled to accomplish that and hope the support from this challenge keeps me on track.

I restarted the couch to 5k running program this morning and also did two walking videos for a total of six miles. It must have wore me out because I had two naps today by 2 pm. I spent New Years Eve at home and ordered several exercises videos instead of drinks. I would love to join a gym but it's not possible with my work and school schedule. I can't wait for them to get here.

Sign me up!

I managed to recover from bulimia last year, but between recovery, birth control, and eating carbs again due to a meat-aversion from the bcp hormones I gained a lot of weight and am now at my highest weight ever. I'm currently 144 lbs. My goal weight is 130. That is where I at least feel okay with my body. 120 would be ideal, but that is more of a vanity weight. So, for now, 130 it is. I quit the Pill (ocella) right before Thanksgiving and fortunately I enjoy meat again, so I'm ready to go.

I am doing Atkins induction + the Shangri-la diet. Artificial sweeteners are a huge hunger-trigger for me, and yet I haven't been able to give them up without feeling unhappy and deprived so I made what I believe to be a reasonable compromise: I will only let myself have AS in my morning coffee. That's it. No more sweetened beverages for the rest of the day, no more low carb desserts. I truly hate unsweetened coffee and having my two morning cups doctored the way I like them is something I don't want to live without. I feel strongly that this is doable--I just need to get my body out of the habit of craving sweets after every meal.

Good luck everyone

emky, do you consider stevia an AS? I gave up sugars and AS and now use liquid stevia for most everything including using a few drops in my morning coffee on occasion. It comes in many different flavors ( I use chocolate and hazelnut for coffee) all zero carb, zero cals (at least that's what mine reports. It hasn't stalled my weight loss at all.

lc48, just join in and WELCOME!

again.... I see we have picked up a number of new folks today. The day went well...... left the bread..sugar... type stuff alone which was my goal for today.... Not that I dont want it.. I do... but I will be off to bed soon and that is a good thing.
There is snow up to my butt around here and the temp is dropping even more.... I feel like a caged animal when I cant get in my truck and go
Makes it even harder... but I am doing it.

I am so glad I found this group! I would love to join you as I will need both motivation and support with my weight lost goals. I have been struggling with my weight since 2004 after receiving a breast cancer diagnosis the age of 35. After all my surgeries and treatments (chemo, radiation, tamoxifen) I started to pack on the pounds. In the past ten years I have gain around 60lbs. I turned to food for comfort when I was depressed, stressed, bored. I been yo- yo dieting for the past ten years and the most I could seem to lose was around 15lbs which I gained back again and again plus more. I don't like how I look and feel. The weight is starting to effect my health and has always had a negative effect on my confidence and self esteem. I also do not want to spend another summer being fat. I officially started my on personal challenge on December 28th. I am doing Medi Weight Loss-which is a low carb diet but under medical supervision. I failed again and again trying to lose the weight on my own so thought this would be the best option for me. My starting weight was 195.6. I will have my first weigh-in on Saturday. My goal is to lose between 40-50lbs by end of June (145-155). I would eventually like to be in the 130's. So far, so good on my new diet program. Be following it to a T and even on New Years Eve. Hoping, that between the support I will be receiving at the Medi Weight Lost clinic and by doing this challenge with all of you, that I will be able to achieve my goal.
Happy New Year!

Hey there! I have been a regular user of stevia for some time, but I only used it as an additional ingredient to boost the sweet taste of artificial sweeteners like sucralose. By itself, it has a yucky taste that I can't seem to get past. I have tried it in coffee multiple times but have never liked it. I've purchased many different brands over the years but I never tried a flavored version. What brand do you use?

Day one on plan is going well so far. I'm done eating for the day and I ended up at 1674 calories with 18g carbs (I'm counting fiber in my totals). Suddenly very sleepy. I might as well hit the hay--I have a trip to pack for tomorrow.

Good morning!
Scale went up today...up to 213 changing stats now and marking this as my start weight. NOT exactly what I had in mind, but it certainly amped up my motivation this morning.

Not Another Fat Summer Challenge progress:
1/2/14: 213lbs.

Yesterday was pretty good. I've got a bag of chocolate chips in the pantry calling my name but I'm about to go throw them away! I need to get some groceries today this is the list so far: salad stuff, cabbage, cottage cheese and fruit. Since I'm a vegetarian, my food options are more limited. Any suggestions from other vegetarians?

I will only record once a week also... I "try" to get on the scale once a week... but... I usually lose that battle. But only that one weigh in day will count for me.

I'm up 1lb this fine soggy morning. I figured as much since I was a little dried up from the mixed drinks the day before. lol Really I'm pleased it wasn't more.

Hey everyone! Happy New Year.

So today is my official start. I weighed in at 149. My goal by summer is 130.

Eating breakfast right now-cheese omelet and a teaspoon of salsa. Also having coffee with cream and a little coconut oil.

I avoid the scale like crazy. I hate that thing! I guess since I'm back on the wagon I need to get on it and see.
