Yes, asking works but I never ended up doing that either as I was always too shy to have some bundle of muscles guy instructor show me what to do.
So I've always gone by what my brother told me way back when I went with him - set a weight and then lift it 9 times. The last 2 should hurt! Like you should be able to do it but basically by gritting your teeth. Rest. Repeat the 9. Rest. Repeat the 9. Switch machines.
And obviously, if the last 2 lifts don't hurt, it's not heavy enough. Happy experimenting. =)

And huge kudos for planking! I could never. Weakling here.

I weigh on Tuesdays because I started out on a Tuesday so that gives me a full week. I can't do the every day thing, I would live on the scales.
I would blame it on zero character but given that I'm on my fourth week and I haven't cheated once, I think I'm going to stop saying that!

TMI is too much information and DH is for Dear/Darling Husband I believe. Not 100% about that though. I'm not that great with acronyms myself. lol

I'm at 181 again this morning. I checked back and I weighed 183.6 on January 1st. Less than 4lbs away from a new decade but I've just bounced up and down the same few pounds all month. Meat and eggs for a few days should fix that, I hope. lol Now if only I could get myself to do it.

I did the lemonade fast for seven days last spring. It wasn't so bad at first, but on the seventh day I became weak and dizzy, almost fainted, and so I went off the fast. All in all, it was not the best cleanse. A true cleanse includes a daily dose of psyllium husks to really clean out your gut and a milk thistle supplement to support/detox your liver.

Thanks for the advice...winging it is what I have been doing but I will use your guidelines for sure...makes sense. I'm shy too...I have to keep in my mind that those people are there to help so I need to open my mouth!

Good morning everyone,

I'm on day two of a headache! I wonder how many carbs are in NyQuil?

DH; The H stands for husband. But the D can stand for anything, it really depends on my mood--dear, darling, dumb, or dysfunctional.

We got about 10 inches of snow yesterday, and I must say it looks really beautiful outside.

I sure am craving potato chips and chocolate.

Uh oh. I wonder how many carbs are in the Tylenol Cold I've been swigging?

Looks like I'm ending January at 193lbs, which is a 6 pound loss for the month. Not spectacular, but I've been a little sloppy with my eating. Plus the weather has been horribly cold, so the only exercise I get is running around Walmart. On to the next month!

Man this thread really moves! I am checking in, actually up 2 lbs as of this am, rats! Having a back issue since last Saturday, not much activity. I'm impressed with the workouts many of you do, need to get myself moving. Hoping you all have a great weekend. And my superbowl dish will be buffalo wings, celery, and ranch.

I just love the word, swigging.

I found out that Tylenol Cold ha s suclarose which is really Splenda. If its yummy sweet than you ar most likely getting a few carbs during swigging.

Look for sugar free cough expectorant the next time you go a shopping.

Okay, this looks like a smiley blowing his nose ->

It's hard to believe tomorrow is February 1st. January just flew by. Geez, my life has just flown by.

When I looked at the calendar, I noticed that we have exactly 4 weeks until March 1st.

I decided that whatever I weigh in tomorrow morning, I am going to try and lose 10 pounds for the month of February.

Oh my, how were those cookies? I figure if I'm going to have a run in with something, it's either going to be cookie dough or mashed potatoes and gravy.

My favorite cookies are Mystic Mint Oreos and then I could go for some homemade chocolate chip cookies. Oh yummy!

Hey everyone! I feel so bad for not interacting too much. Been so busy. At least winter session at school is over in 2 weeks, then I get a week off. I PROMISE to catch up and read everyone's posts this weekend.

I lost 15.2 pounds in Jan I know its mostly water weight but I feel better. I barely got out of 320's too. I was at 319.2 on weds.

Going to the San Diego Zoo tomorrow, so that definitely be my exercise for the day. I am going to prepare some low carb snacks to take and water. No excuses for me

Down .6 to 180.4 this morning. Since I only lost 3.2lbs in January I'm going to try to really focus in February. My goal this month is to lose 10.6lbs so I can see the 160s! I'm very excited by the prospect!

Does anyone have any big plans for Valentines Day? We don't really celebrate but I love all the cutsy things the stores have out for it. And alll that candy!! There are plenty of romantical low carb gift options though.

Last night I tried on a pair of "goal" jeans and much to my surprise they fit quite well so I'm wearing them today. I'm also down three pounds but don't want to get my hopes up and also not focus on the number.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend.

Hiya Vella Marie, Your weight-loss is awesome. Waterweight or not, it is still a loss. You are so close to breaking the 300s, I bet you'll see your scales somewhere in the 200s in March. That is so awesome. Just remember, we are here for you even if you don't have time to read everything or post. Have a wonderful day at the zoo .

February

I weighed in at 251.8 this morning. I had an 18 pound loss in January.
My new goals for February is to be at 240 pounds. That's 2 1/2 pounds per week and I am going to have to work really hard at that. I figure somewhere in the month I can also lose that 1.8 pounds

Wow, your January weight loss was SO. INCREDIBLY. AMAZING.

I had a January loss of 10 pounds, which is about all I can hope for from here on out, I'm afraid. But still, if I hang steady I will be at goal in June or July. Bring on the BEACH!

-------------------

I am down to 154.4 this morning, down .6 from two days ago. Slow and steady wins the race, they say.

Today is an UpDay so I am looking forward to lots of healthy food: coffee with real cream, one minute flaxseed muffin with grass-fed butter, whole-fat Greek yogurt, steamed asparagus with gourmet aged cheddar cheese, an omelette with old-fashioned farm-raised eggs and local vegetables from the farmers market, etc. Started out with a bulletproof coffee. Mmmmm.

LOL, on the DH comment! So true, and most likely to dysfunctional in my book! Hahahaha.

Sorry you are not feeling well. It is harder for those of us not consuming sugars because like you just found out, most "medicines" have the white death in them.
