I think the higher fat/lower protein/light exercise combination is working. This morning my blood ketones tested at their highest yet (1.6 - FINALLY in the optimal range!) and my glucose was 89. Perfect! I am looking forward to my second UpDay with higher fat. I bought some really high quality full-fat cheeses and a block of Kerrygold butter. Drinking my bulletproof coffee right now.

BTW I have something to say about Kerrygold butter. As a long-time vegetarian, I have noticed that these days, (cheap, factory-farm produced) butter tastes like beef fat and not like a dairy product. Well, yesterday I had my first taste of Kerrygold butter and I have to say, it tastes like I remember butter tasting when I was a kid. Back when cows were raised on real farms and got to roam around in grassy fields.

From the Kerrygold package: "In Ireland cows graze on the green pastures of small family farms. This milk is then churned to make Kerrygold butter."

I say YES to this farming model and I will gladly pay the difference. I wish our local farmers would also do this.
Hello Nikki,

I'm glad you posted something about Kerrygold butter, I was wondering about it from your earlier post. I will have to get some and try it out. Sounds yummy!

Congratulations on your drop in weight .

Brie gonna have to get some of that too

And welcome, Mom2Mayhem, you're in the right place for a fantastic group!

Tuesday, weigh-in day. Always just as scary, but once again good news!
Last week: 78.3 kg (172.6)
This week: 77.3 kg (170.4)

I'm still sceptical of my scales though because I don't "feel" like I'm at 77 kg. So I did the other test: I got out a dress that I would not have fit into 3 weeks ago and sure enough, it sits just fine. Sadly the weather is too cold to wear it but give it another few weeks (and hopefully another few pounds) and it will be splendid!
Woo Hoo for the weight loss! You seem to be on the right track. I bet you look really nice in your dress.

Oh my! What wonderful news on the drop in weight! Congratulations!

Hi there - I'd love to join. I don't think I know too many of you from other threads because I spend too much time on the PG and not enough time focusing on weight loss.

Room for one more?

I'm going to pick some up too. I was happy to see on the website that they sell it at my regular grocery store. Is it pricey?

Page 24.....

Good news, I'm 253.9. Down 1.1 finally. Gotta love those tenths of a point.
Thank you all for the support because I really wanted to give up after a week of eating great and no movement on the scales.

I have a slight headache today, most likely from grinding me teeth all night. My jaw seems to be a little sore today.

Today will be uneventful, trying to catch up on studying. I'm five days behind on schedule. I'm going to try to make it to the pool again today; goodness, I'm out of shape.

I'm off to boil a couple of eggs. Have a great low carb day everyone.

Omg - I so wish! I loooooove Hawaii and we go as often as we can. No, it's the SUPER exotic, temperate, exciting north shore of....Long Island.

I know. So boring. But at least I'm 2 blocks from the beach, right?

If I were going to live anywhere else, though, it would be Hawaii.

Kerrygold butter costs more than the cheapest stuff but no more than Land o Lakes or other premium butter. I have read that it costs less at Trader Joe's if you have one nearby.

Good for you for setting yourself up for success. I am in a FB group where they are down on goals because if you don't succeed, you will be disappointed. ???? Boy, that makes lots of sense. I feel a goal is what pushes me and will make an effort to reach it. But if there is no goal to reach for, I feel like a sailboat set adrift on the tide with no specific destination.

Anyway, I was just kinda shocked so many wanted to avoid "disappointment"--like they expected to fail.

I love it. I blend it in my Nutribullet, and it comes out frothy and very velvety. I add some SF syrups to it--my favorite right now is salted caramel by Torani. I have a BPC every day and sometimes twice. (I can't drink caffeine anymore though, so mine are decaf.)

Welcome Portia and Mom2Mayhem!!

Finally had my whoosh this morning...203.5! Pretty low-key day today. Trying to decide what to make for dinner. I bought some small pre-cooked shrimp. Thinking maybe I will steam broccoli and pour some alfredo sauce over it all.

Planking

Has anyone tried planking as an exercise for the abdominals? I heard it was a good one, and my daughters and I are going to do a 30 day plank challenge. To me it looks too easy, but then I haven't tried it yet, and I could be unpleasantly surprised.

I agree everyone one needs to have some type of goal. The key is to have a realistic goal and plan to get there. Mini goals help a lot to keep you from getting too frustrated and keep yourself in check a little along the way. Also its just positive thinking if you don't quite make the goal. Say if your goal was 25 by xx but you only lost 20lb, you still look and feel way better than before. more motivation to keep losing.

Congrats to those of you losing so far this week. I was down a pound Tuesday, showing another today but 80% of that is probably water. Went on a shopping trip after work and didn't realize till on the way home I had not drank anything for about 8 hours. Drank half a bottle of water but still feeling pretty dry this morning.

That sounds amazing! I'm been thinking about it since the olive garden post a ways back but it wasn't on my make for leftovers list. Congrats on your loss!

G'Morning!

Alright! 180.2 again! My losses stuck. For now anyway. lol Maybe I'll even get to see the 170s before this week is through.
I'm enjoying the few inches of white stuff we got yesterday and hubby even gets a snow day! Yay! These poor Bama folk though.. they have no idea how to handle this kind of weather. lol

I "plank" in my hard core class at the YMCA. I try to do it at home as well. I heard it is one of the best for tightening up the stomach. After 3 kids, the area right above my pant line is a bit squishy. I'd love to tone it up before summer.

Love when I get my pants out of the hot dryer and they feel snug...gets in my mind that I put weight back on, but luckily they have been loosening up.
