love2live...I remember when I did LC the first time around I was an emotional wreck for the first month. I think there is a correlation with carbs/body fat/hormones. I remember sobbing over an incident that normally wouldn't even be a blip on my radar. Once I detoxed and my body adjusted to LC I was much calmer, less upset about things.

eta...really the thing that helps me the most is posting here on this site. Letting myself drift away from here was a mistake. But, I'm back now and I'm enjoying getting to know those of you that are posting here (even if I'm not replying to everyone's daily posts).

its awesome when restaurants can make substitutions and totally get it....i ordered the steak meal from chilis and instead of baked potato asked for double broccoli with bacon and cheese and a side of ranch he was like yep no problem...i've done the loaded broccoli at outback too but never at chilis....it was soooooo delish!!! good for you for sticking to your principals in the land of pasta and bread and croutons.....i think you should lose 10lbs just for resolve!!!

everyone is doing so good.....whoosh fairies for everyone who needs one!!!!

Lady- that is good to know because my husband has really been wanting Italian, but was supporting me, so we stayed away.

Well here are my results after 2 week induction. To nite, I was not perfect, as I had almonds a couple of times, and I went over the 3 sweetener a day rule a few times. I do wish the weight loss would have been more, but I knew that I would not have the big water loss that some have at first, because I have been on diet for a while I one form or another.

This is amazing! I re-posted this idea on Facebook. Now I know what I will order next time we go there.

Had a little visit from the whoosh fairy last night. After losing about a half pound every weigh-in for weeks, I suddenly lost more than a pound between weigh-ins this time. Yeah!

Weigh-in this morning was 159.8. I weigh every two days or so, so when I weigh myself on Saturday, if it sticks I will be able to confidently say I am in a new decade!

It's is an UpDay and I am super busy today so it will be interesting to see how I manage to eat all the food I have planned. I really, really love that I have to worry about forcing myself to eat more food on UpDays rather than forcing myself to eat less. I am really loving JUDDD. The UpDays make the DownDays so totally worth it. Not to mention the weight loss - JUDDD works!

Lately, when I see you post Mary, I sing a song of long-ago by The Association.

.... And then along comes Mary.....

That song was stuck in my head all day yesterday.

Liquid Diet

Today will be a true test of my willpower. Tomorrow I am set up for the dreadful colonoscopy.

The menu for today consist of clear liquids only. Coffee however I found out late last night is not considered a clear liquid. I have Fresca, coconut water, Crystal light, and four cans of chicken broth.

I was given two packets of Gatorade mix that are about 100 carbs to mix with a huge bottle of ez 2 go. I already threw a fit about the Gatorade mix. My doctor is letting me mix the ez 2 go with Crystal light, thank goodness.

I ought to be thankful that I am low carbing, because today we will be much easier then if I were eating the hundreds of carbs that I used to.

I figure sometime today I will be using that help SOS smiley face.

The chicken broth is just not cutting it.

I'm already fantasizing about what I'm going to eat tomorrow afternoon. I was thinking about a huge juicy hamburger with lots of bacon and lots of cheese and yes, lots of mayonnaise.

I'm getting ready to eat my lunch: sugar-free lemon Jell-O. My stomach is growling for the first time in a long time. That won't be for long though, because I'm getting ready to start the regiment of drinking that horrific concoction to clean out my colon. Gross.

I will say though, my house sure got cleaned today.

Good luck on your liquid diet!!

Busy day today but wanted to pop on and check in with everyone My oldest has an ice skate comp on Sunday so we are spending some extra time at the ice rink. Just came home from a Costco run. Anyone else like their salads they have at the food court? YUM! I had that for lunch and the rest of the hotdog my younger couldn't finish (I just left the bun).

I have to schedule one of those for myself as well, and I've never done it before. Bummer about the coffee, but I am a power-tea drinker too so I wonder if plain tea is OK (?) I'm glad to know your doc allowed you to sub the Crystal Light.

One recommendation: Do not tell your husband to be careful not to spill the polyethylene glycol in the hot tub.

Polyethylene glycol is an osmotic laxative that is to be Mixed in about 2 L of liquid.

You know what egg whites look like when you beat them to make stiff peaks? That's what our hot tub looks like after a glass full of polyethylene glycol was spilled in it.

Another note is that after further reading in my books, I found out that polyethylene glycol needs to be mixed with electrolytes. Hence, the sugar loaded Gatorade.

Mixed in a solution with electrolytes, such as sodium, potassium, and chloride, it is used to clear the lower intestine before certain tests or surgery of the colon.

TMI

My DH is on his way to the store to buy more Polyethylene glycol and Pedialyte.

Belated Update of Nothing

Hey everyone -

I haven't posted recently because I was waiting to have something to post... but alas, I'm still stuck at 280-282. Also, no real exercise all week, which may account for part of the reason I'm stuck.

I haven't had any treats or anything off-plan. I was hoping to splurge for a beer tonight (Friday is our family movie night) but seeing as I haven't had any progress, I'm afraid I'll have to skip that. Phooey.

I guess I need to track carbs more carefully again, and get myself back on the exercise track in some form.

Maybe a fat fast for a day or two? I've heard about it, but don't know how that's done. What's required for that?

Thanks,
Mary.

Good luck with the colonoscopy Niki! As a nurse I have seen how life saving that test can be! good for you for getting it done. All people over 50 should be getting one. If you are clear you can go 5-10 years until your next one so it's not that bad. The prep is the worst part, the actual procedure is a breeze.

I am super excited to weigh in at 154.5 this morning! woot woot! we are rocking this challenge ladies!

Happy Friday Everyone,

I am really struggling. The scale is not moving. I dont know what I am doing wrong, staying around 20 carbs a day. So frustrating, even cut out any alcohol. I ordered a treadmill from Amazon, it will be here tomorrow. I am hoping this will help. Not going to give up.

MaryThompson, maybe go back to the original 72 Atkins Induction for a week - meat, eggs, some dairy, and only 2cups of leafy greens per day. I do that or the fast when I stall for more than two days. The fat fast consists of eating every few hours with high fat items like cream cheese, hwc, lc peanut butter, butter, bacon, tuna, pork rinds...your goal is to have mostly fats with your daily intake around 80% fat. It really does work very well, at least for me. Sometimes our bodies get stuck or used to what we are eating daily and we have to shake things up to get it to release the fat again. For me I monitor everything and am always changing it up by doing strict 72 induction or fasts to keep the losses coming.

OK I did it again; I weighed in after an UpDay. This time the results are a bit better and I am down to 159.4.

I will finally get to do some exercise tonight! I don't get to work out Tues, Wed & Thurs because I have classes all three days & nights. But I make sure to get lots of exercise Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon to compensate.

I will be very interested to use my new blood ketone/glucose monitor to assess my blood ketone and glucose levels tomorrow morning, after a DownDay and with some good exercise.

For now, not much new to report. Have a lot of housework to do today and I MUST give myself a pedicure (I do it myself) since my calluses could crush diamonds at the moment. TMI Sorry

Terrible day yesterday! I was off work bc I had to go to court for a speeding ticket and just ate all day out of boredom.

I've got to work on starting better habits. Even if I was eating LC foods, it pushed me out of Ketosis today. But that's alright--I'm going to eat well this weekend and get back in the groove!

Not bad for 2 weeks! I'm going to get brave and measure myself this weekend.
My weight has been bouncing around all week but I keep forgetting to weigh before I get dressed. 193 again this morning.

205.5 this am. I'm trying a new flavor of atkins shakes, Café Caramel, and I really like it. I poured it over ice and added a splash of cream. I just wasn't feeling like cooking up some eggs.

Mary- I've never done the fat fast but I did stall pretty good at the 2/3 week mark my first time around. Hang in there and keep sticking to plan and you will get through it! If you watch any of those weight loss shows you will see that they stall around that time (and are always SO shocked when it happens). I would just stick to the more basic plan and really watch every carb.

I don't have much to report. My scale is staying the same no matter how well I watch my food. I've been doing a combination of walking and exercise videos to help get in shape. My clothes are fitting better and I can tell my body is changing shape even though the scale isn't budging. I just wish the scale would move.

Have a wonderful weekend.

TMI Sorry

Good afternoon everyone,

Well, I am laying in bed this afternoon for the first time in many many years watching TV. I can't remember the last time I did this. My cats think this is great because they are piled on me on the bed snoozing away. I was going to study a little bit today but I think I will put that off until Monday.

The procedure went well this morning I was only stuck three different places in order to find a nice vein for the IV. I got a clean bill of health and was very relieved to know that because I was quite nervous since my mother has colon cancer and my grandmother passed away from colon cancer.

I'm happy to report only for the next couple of days that I'm down 3.5 pounds That colon cleanse was brutal.

I came home and had a nice hot cup of coffee with cream. I didn't eat that big juicy hamburger with bacon cheese and mayonnaise that I was dreaming about last night, but I did manage to eat a piece of chicken and some cauliflower. I blended the Cauliflower in my juicer and it tasted just like mashed potatoes. Well, almost.
