Ladyathome, I am glad you are feeling better.

Congrats Ainsley, CrazyCat, Vella, Sherrie, TerriMM, and CK31040!

Niki, I hear you about being able to hold up an old pair of pants for comparison. I used to wear size 24 and now finally in a 14. When I get depressed about the slow weight loss, they are my go to for motivation. Don't give up, you'll get there.

You can do it way2fluffy!

Thewindcriesmary, sorry about the mozarella. I had to start reading nutrition labels on everything! It is amazing how the same food can differ so much between brands. If one company can make the food without all those extra nasty ingredients and higher carbs, why don't they all do it?

I hope everyone stays on their plan this weekend and stays healthy and happy! No getting discouraged! Just bumps in the road that we can either get stuck on if we allow it, OR we can put the gas pedal down and drive the heck over them!

No weigh in today but I had a huge NSV this morning!

Since my restart on Nov 20th, I have lost 24 pounds. After 5, then 10, then 15 pounds, I kept trying on several pairs of my next size down jeans and none of them (even the "bigger" jeans I had in that size) would fit. I was soooo frustrated. The numbers were moving on the scale, but I wasn't losing any sizes. That is to say, my present size clothes were getting looser and looser, but no matter how loose they got I still couldn't fit into the next size down. I was like, "I know my boobs did not weigh 24 pounds! Where did I lose all this weight from? And when will I fit into the next size down? Grrrr!"

Well, today I finally fit into a pair of jeans in the next size down! I am so happy I could do my happy dance. Hold on...

OK, just went and did my happy dance.

DownDay today. Yeah! Now I am feeling more motivated than ever.

I'm currently reading the book protein power which suggests picking an article of clothing that is too small but you really want to wear and attempting to put it on once a week. you can slowly see how your measurements are improving without getting out the tape. There is a particular pair of pants i want to do this with but need to dig them out!

Good luck to all of you this weekend. I know you will make good decisions.
That is a great idea! I am going to do it!

Congratulations! That had to be very frustrating, not going down a size after losing that much weight.
I lost most of my weight in my butt, really fast. Took months for my waist to catch up, so I either stuffed myself into elastic waist jeans, or went around in ones with a baggy seat.

Great news Nikki!!!!! A new size down is great!

Well, I'm kind of stuck at 283, a weight I've been at in the past for a long time. Time to be patient, though it's hard. Clothes are fitting a bit looser. Have a great weekend!

The clothing idea = excellent
I had intended to measure myself but didn't. I recieved a pair of XL pjs for Christmas that shrunk when I washed them. So those with the next size down pants will be my motivation when times get challenging.

Great mindset mayleesa. Come up with your 'special" game beverage. Mine is diet tonic water or club soda with fresh lime. I don't usually watch football (more a soccer fan or basketball)......but I think (at least for me) the alcohol became a mental habit as in "relaxation or entertainment = alcoholic beverage ". So much so that I stalled any weight loss from summer-through fall-through winter......and here I sit
Trying to be alcohol free and relax with diet tonic, club soda or tea (special and exspensive because you are worth it aka splurge ).
It is a struggle for sure.....but you are in WONDERLAND!!!
Totally worth doing without a beer during a game.

Weighed in today and lost another 2.6 lbs. That's a total of 10.6 lbs in 2 weeks . I was really worried this week because the scale was not moving. The 2.6 lbs came off the last 2 days of the week. It was a rough week, because I was back to work full time. I'm a teacher and there is always food in the faculty room...everyday, cookies, candy, etc... Not to mention the kiddies coming around with birthday treats...agggh!!! But I was so good, didn't cave once. I was hoping to lose more than I did this week, but I'll take it. Any amount of loss is good. Just as long as I keep heading in the right direction. So my starting weight was 195.6 and now I am at 185.0. Feels good. Now, I have to try and incorporate some exercise into my routine. Took a yoga class on Thursday...it was hard, but I felt so good afterwards. Going to do that class every Thursday and try to hit the gym before work in the morning to get some cardio in. My goal is at least 3 times a week. Gonna start off slow and just try walking on the treadmill for 30 minutes on those mornings. Well, I hope everyone else had a great week.

Healthy- I have also been alcohol free since 1/2/14. I almost caved last night. I really want a beer. However, I told myself....you know the first one doesn't really taste that good unless it is a cold draft, so you will probably drink more than one...so get over it....and I did. Whew! I am really thinking that it might have become an addiction to me.
Rotay- good for you for not caving. I have been having major cravings this weekend too. I had to attend a football party today (go seahawks!) and everyone was having beer and wine and I was the only one having herbal tea. so not fun! plus they were eating lasagna/garlic bread/chili and lots of chips. it was total temptation. but thankfully they had salad which I had some of. I ate not long before the party as I knew there wouldn't be a lot of on plan stuff to choose from. I think this 30 day break from drinking is a good reset in general to get my drinking habits back in check. the holidays were a bit crazy with drinking every night, at least 3 glasses of wine which is too much for me. I plan to only have wine friday and saturday night after this 30 days is up and only 1-2 glasses max. I need to keep this in control if I ever want to get to my goal weight. I never can get below 145 and I know the wine is a big part of it.

I took my son out for dinner last night and we sat in the bar at Buffalo Wild Wings. It was so tough to order water instead of taking advantage of happy hour. The self control was worth it today My scale is down a tad bit this morning. I'm not deserving the weight loss after eating a bunch of wings.

The scale is a lovely piece of equipment when you like what it has to say but I truly don't think it always accurately affects where we are in our weight loss journey. The times I've eaten perfectly the weight has gone upwards and it's depressing. I guess my point is don't beat yourself up over the numbers and just keep plugging away even if the scale isn't treating you kindly.
I totally agree with you! It is hard to pass on the drinks when you enjoy it so much. good for you for sticking to your guns. I find the scale incredibly frustrating too. I think daily weighing is awful and I am seriously contemplating not weighing myself at all for the rest of the month until jan 31 and hopefully be surprised with a nice loss then. Anybody else want to join me in that???

Stomp! Stomp! I so want to eat right now. I'm not hungry; there are no hunger pangs that I am aware of. Goodness, I am logging my food and the carbs and calories sure do add up quick. I wonder how much I was really eating in a daily basis? I feel so deprived even though I have eaten 1,400 calories and 26 carbs already.

I dropped off items at the goodwill the other day and took a look around and ended up buying some cute shorts and pants that were a size 14. Now mind you, I am a size 22 and while folding my "new" clothes from the dryer, I was amazed on how tiny they were. I mean my pants right now seem like a wide load. I think my bones were bigger that the diameter of a pant leg! Oh my!

Okay, I will join you on this! I agree daily weighing is aweful...the scales are either an upper or a downer, and bingeing thoughts come with the downers. It's a win/win situation since Jan 31st's weigh in ought to be an upper.

Does any one here use ketosis sticks?

Sorry, I have to weigh every day. But a lot of people only weigh once a week, or even once a month.
I totally blew it on sugar today, I drank a can of coke trying to settle my stomach. My cravings have been pretty manageable, I've been letting myself have a few dark chocolate covered raisins at night and that's been enough. But no bread, pasta or potatoes for 12 days (except that one slip up with the mac & cheese)

Niki- I totally agree and the way I look at it I am doing this plan I'm on no matter what until jan 31 (no booze and strict low carb) so whatever I lose is going to be the same whether I weigh daily or not. I am not tweaking it because I have an up day and decide to change what is clearly working. (down 5.5 lbs in 10 days) even though today was the first day the scale moved in 4 days. In the past I can get derailed or binge too if I have an up day and become frustrated. I use the ketostix once a day....

Yikes - a bad binge last night. I bought my special needs son raisin bread - and couldn't keep out of it. 3 slices of bread, some crackers, nacho chips (about 80g of carbs) then topped it off with 4 5oz glasses of wine. UGH!!!!! I can't do this to myself. Eating some fresh sausage for breakfast. I need to get back on track!

I use ketosis sticks. I'm doing Medi Weight Loss and they give you the sticks. I check every morning to see if I am in ketosis. Starting my third week of the program and have lost 10.6 lbs. I like using the sticks because they let me know that my body is using my fat for fuel in place of the high amounts of carbs I use to eat. Do you have any questions about using the sticks?

I use the ketosis sticks as well every morning when I wake up. They give me a motivation to keep doing well everyday! Down one pound this morning so I'm feeling great. Everyone here seems to be doing well! Last night my husband wanted to go out for pizza and I just ate a salad... yay me!

I can't do this to myself. Eating some fresh sausage for breakfast. I need to get back on track!
That's ok! Don't beat yourself up. Just get back on track today.

Thank you Mary - I needed that. Beating myself up over this isn't going to help.

I agree the key is to have lots of LC at the ready. I am lucky in that my boyfriend is also doing low carb with me. It also means that my Sundays often turn into a cook a thon so we have plenty for the work week.

Starting today with 2lb bacon, LC clam chowder, spicy sausage and pepper soup, zucchini with sugar free pasta sauce & cheese, egg drop soup, herbed green beans, and counting out servings of nuts. Celery for snacks. Made a point to take out some veggies from the garden this past summer.

I also love buying chicken hind quarters and baking with the skin in the oven for those days you really don't feel like cooking. Add some microwave broccoli and there's your meal.

Congrats on these victories! [understatement] It is not easy to have a salad when there is pizza nearby. [/understatement]

The ketosis sticks never showed more than trace even years ago when I was fasting, which was weird. I just bought the Precision Xtra blood ketone monitor and I am eagerly awaiting delivery of my blood ketone.strips so I can have an accurate test for the very first time. Hopefully it will show optimal ketosis.

BTW I notice you are also a low-carb vegetarian like myself. We are an extremely rare breed. Maybe we can be diet buddies? I would love to see some of your meal plans/menus.
