me too on the hot flashes

So...short story long....
Olda did the Fast Metabolism Diet (FMD) a while back and did awesome. I toyed with the idea during the summer but felt like I couldn't commit during the summer (I really actually could have...huge regret)
So I started the diet in November (out of desperation because no matter what I was doing, I was gaining) and have lost 12ish pounds in 5 weeks (idk what I weigh now because I refuse to get on the scale now that I have been off the diet for a week and a half) but I do know I have gained back very little if any because my pants are still lose

The idea of the diet is feeding your body and fixing your metabolism from all the crazy diets we put our bodies through. I was really worried about it working...but it worked for me.
Basically, no sugar, no wheat (except spelt or sprouted), no alcohol, no artificial sweeteners, no bananas, no caffeine, soy, or dairy....eat within 30 minutes of waking, food choices are phase specific.

Phase 1 is carb loaded but no fat - lots of grains, veggies, fruit, and protein in this phase (duration 2 days)
Phase 2 is protein heavy, no fat, no fruit (except lemon and lime) (duration 2 days)
Phase 3 is a balance of all foods and healthy fats, fruit is somewhat limited [mostly peaches, berries, grapefruit, lemon and lime] (duration 3 days)
then you repeat the phases. Exercise fits the phase...1 = cardio 2= weights and 3= relaxation, massage or yoga

FF is jumping on the FMD with us...and so is riot

They all seem pretty yummy on paper. lol

In fact, I'm secretly terrified to eat all this food. It soooo goes against my normal amount of food I allow myself to eat, that I'm terrified I'll gain weight instead of losing.
oh...and weigh today...and then not until the end of P2...then don't weigh again until a week later....that's what I did...I occasionally jumped on and peeked because I am addicted to the scale....but seriously, this has been SOOOOO liberating without the scale and just noticing my clothes are getting looser...but not obsessing about the number on the scale....this is seriously curing my addictions to EVERYTHING!!! scale, "bad foods" and everything else

Afternoon everyone!!!!

Ok, can I just say that I'm only half way done with day one of FMD and I already LOVE it???

Steel cut oats are DELICIOUS. I felt like I was cheating this morning. And now I get to eat lunch in 30 minutes..and then I get to eat dinner too??????

What is this? I can eat this way and lose weight???? Why didn't I do this when Olda first did it months ago?????

Ok, I have to see if it works for me....but I'm hopeful. lol

Menu today:
B: steel cut oats, watermelon
S: clementine
L: chicken, brown rice, broccoli, watermelon
S: Apple
D: chicken, brown rice, green beans.

THAT, my friend, is EXACTLY what I said...why didn't I do this sooner?

Honestly, If I didn't lose a pound more, I would survive...as long as I can eat this food and not gain...seriously! I love eating THAT much!

So what to expect...
you might end up EXHAUSTED tonight...I slept soooo good and was exhausted by 6pm
but then...I had leg issues....like restless leg issues in the middle of the night. I felt a little flu-ish the first week...like, tummy because of the grains...gassy, bloated and uhmmmmm....regular ....VERY regular ...but also VERY tired. a little achy...She talks about foods and vitamins that combat these symptoms...she has some really good webcasts and blogs to answer questions.

The third week...a lot of people don't lose weight that week...tweek your diet and move on...don't stress, because you will have a good whoosh the final week.

Also...don't cheat...even a little in the first 4 weeks...this was advise Olda gave me and it is so true. After 4 weeks...you just think of this as a life style or a way of eating...you can eat things and then jump back on plan without any damage.
One of her webcasts, she talks about taking a break between rounds...So if you stop...only for a week or two...and if you have a significant amount to lose...take a break after the first round. If you only have a few pounds to lose after 28 days...stay on until you lose it. I stayed on for 5 weeks...but I still want 10ish pounds so I took a little over a week off...and tried to follow the eating plan, but failed miserably because of the holidays. <----this is important because Olda and I discussed the problems with stopping long term....it is difficult to get motivated to start again. So far for me...no problem jumping back on after taking only a week

Yes Beach!!!! I know exactly what you're talking about already because after lunch I could barely keep my eyes open and I had to take a nap.

Thank you for all of the tips! I love them.

The only thing I'm really dying for is my coffee!!!! But it's only 28 days. I can hold out for 28 days.

One question...do you guys ever eat out while on this plan? DH wants to go to dinner tomorrow and I figure I can just order a steak, steamed broccoli, and rice...but I hope there are no hidden fats....

Also, mid January I have a road trip over 3 days. It will be while I'm in P3 so it should be fairly easy to follow, I think. I'll pack fruits and carrots and maybe buy some sprouted grain english muffins to fulfill my grain requirements...but I'm sure I will have at least one or two meals at a restaurant and I hope that doesn't derail me.

Thoughts?

I didn't eat out...but I rarely do I do know people say they have eaten out without issue. I think your plan sounds solid...just tell them to keep it simple as far as oils and sugars.

and yes...I found myself napping....a lot

Hey all! Just checking in. I have been reading your posts about the plan you all are using... Sounds great! I wish you all well in the coming new year.
What happens after 28 days? Do you follow a different part of the same plan or do something different?

I am just hanging in, trying to stick to the plan. But all the holidays/birthdays are driving me nuts!
But I still have faith that my plan will get me there as long as I stick to my rotations. It might take all year, but I WILL get there in 2014!

It would be super cool to be thin by my birthday in June!

Im hoping that by the end of January to be firmly somewhere in the 150's, continue exercising 420 min a week...and keep eating on plan!

ugh...I hear you....my hubby's bday is the 5th and Christmas....

You eat normal...meaning, the foods on the diet. You eat protein, veggies, fruits, and grains. After fixing you metabolism, you can eat. You still don't eat sugar, flour, corn and corn byproducts...but you can...and it won't hurt or make you gain...that's the theory anyway. Oh...and after 28 days and IF you are NOT at goal...you repeat 28 day phases until you reach goal (that's what I'm doing)

I am so happy for the New Year!! We have a party tonight and then its all about routine again!!
Day one is done FF. The first week is insane between cooking and preparing and clock watching to eat, worrying because you havent eaten like this in 10 years and are POSITIVE you are going to blow up..... but then one day... you just think "I feel good and this food is good" AND you are losing weight.

I have been off program for 5 months but whats funny is when I say "off" I really eat with so many parts of the program incorporated daily anyway.

Deb, good luck on the 150s!!!
Low, Heres to June!!!!

I just read in the book that it's the broccoli florets that we're allowed to eat...and I've been eating the stem cause I bought this bag of "broccoli slaw" that is basically the stems shaved to look like matchstick carrots.

I hope I didn't screw up already. Any idea why we wouldn't be able to eat the stems?

Hahahah Deb, you're not the only one. In fact, on any given week you can find us on a number of different plans. Lol

This challenge is for everyone, on all plans. We've pretty much done them all so we can support everyone with first hand knowledge. lol

yeah...you are fine...we all do something different...because we are looking for what works. Atkins worked for me once upon a time...but not in years...so I have since done South Beach, Biggest Loser, skinny rules, some cleanse thing, hcg....you name it. The FMD is working really well right now...hoping this is the true fix

Ok, so I survived dinner! I ended up ordering the petite filet which was 5 oz, and then I had steamed broccoli and grilled zucchini with it. I didn't have a grain though. Should I go eat some brown rice now or just let it go?

I'll start our new challenge tomorrow. Maybe I should just put us in the regular LC thread since we're not really doing weigh-ins anymore.....

Stay safe tonight everyone! Happy New Year!
