Thanks Misti....you can do it too!

Holiday, work and friend stresses so I had another unscheduled cocktail night last night. And had some candy and milk after. But didn't do any grains. I noticed last week that I had few grains and ended up with less weight gain so decided to try that last night. This morning was same weight as yesterday. The next couple of days will be interesting though. I've lost all the hormonal water weight so this should be only carb water weight. I might end up doing a one day fat fast on Monday or Tuesday as I'll be making a full thanksgiving dinner on Thursday. I have an internet friend that's going to be alone on Thanksgiving as well, so we are making a semi-homemade dinner together via phone.

Oh yeah. I had bought a pair of 16 stretch jeans several weeks ago, to have something to wear when I got down further. I tried them on yesterday and they were snug, but very wearable. But I decided to wear older jeans instead anyway (wanted to wait till I was under 200), they were the smallest pair I had and they ended up driving me nuts being so baggy. I had to put my keys in my purse as they were pulling them off me.

Anyway, I'm going shopping today, and decided I am going to wear the 16s. It's been sooooooo many years since I've wore a size 16 it feels like a big milestone.

Today 204.6. Either I've accidentally found my exact key to dropping weight, or it's one of those whooshes. Had a fat fast yesterday which, btw, was effortless. I think I might do it today too. Last time, two days was my max until my body said I needed to eat. One thing I do is refuse to be hungry as I feel that forces my body into slowing my metabolism. (Was at the dentist a couple days ago and my temp was 98.7, after being about a degree lower for as long as I can remember, that was exciting. )

I also seem to have a two week max until I need to get a few carbs and lately it's been one week. What I've missed most is my cocktails on Friday nights. But, right now, it seems I can have my cocktails and drink them too.

I sooo much want to see 199 but have Thanksgiving in a few days. Think I'll go through with the cooking but eat a lot of turkey and just a few bites of the other stuff.

Mentally, I think I need to prepare myself as I'll probably see a normal stall after a whoosh like this. But I intend to fight it if it happens.

WOW~haven't posted in a week and I check in to see all these great losses! Melissa, Danielle, Misti, Cudabear, Bringon ~~ you are all rockin' this challenge!! WTG ladies! Also, to peanut and qurly!

I'm hanging in there so far and hoping to shave off another pound before Thanksgiving because I know I'll be up after this week. Instead of just weighing and posting weekly, I think I might weigh every few days or even daily to really stay accountable. You guys are definitely inspiring me to stick with it.

Congrats on the small pants Bring on the Lard! What an awesome feeling that is! I'm still trying to squeeze myself into a tiny pair of jeans I bought last Christmas - I got them hemmed and then went on a month long vacation.. Haven't gotten them on since, still have the price tag on!

I think i'm starting to discover myself that having some up days combined with fasting days is a key for me. I have been trying this over the last couple weeks and it seems to be working!! (minus my WAY over-indulge last Sunday which totally threw my week out, but I still came into my Friday weigh in with no gain, so it could have been a lot worse!!)
Today I am only up 1.5lbs from my weekend of UD’s (I even had 2 eggnog & Spiced rum!) I am finding not only am I gaining less now from my UD’s but I am also dropping the weight from the UD faster.
Is it too late to hit 15lbs by Dec 31st?!?!? Guess we’ll see how my Friday weigh in goes!

Krazy Kat--look at you go!! I'm a daily weigher...sometimes it's good....sometimes it's not-so-good...but it keeps me honest!

I actually read something here, a very old post, from Atkins employees I think, about shaking stuff up and it makes sense. Our ancestors almost certainly didn't eat the same things or the same calories day after day. And I suppose when we try to do that, our bodies adapt and hit homeostasis. One thing I'm not willing to try anytime soon is a total fast. I'm just too afraid of slowing my metabolism as it's running well now. Until this diet, my body temp was usually around 97.7, for as long as I can remember. Now it's 98.6 or even a bit better. And I can't imagine the total fasts could drop weight better than the fat fasts have for me.

Danielle, I'm posting on the Daily Weigher for Nov thread too. I do think it helps me as well.

Congrats Bringon!!

krazycat, You are doing Wonderful as well! We go up, we go down, we stay the same sometimes. I see it as a jugsaw puzzle piece - straight edges the plateau and then all the ups and downs. But as long as we stick on plan the overall trend should be downward.

cudabear, if you look at my beggining on here, that is how I did it. I used the Juddd program for UD/DD but Atkins Induction rules. So UD i stayed under 20net carbs but ate whatever else I wanted; DD I fasted with nothing but coffee and water. It worked really well for me. I think I did that for 3 weeks if I remember right. But lost most of the weight the first week and a half.

Danielle, keep at it and don't get frustrated. It will come down.

I'm not actually following any particular plan, just how it's evolved for me. 6 1/2 days a week or more I stay extremely low carb but try to eat plenty of calories and high fat. Then I have one evening every week or every other week where I splurge a bit with cocktails and sweets (as of recently avoiding grains though even on carb nights). Then occasional days where I only have fat (as much as I need to not be hungry) in the form of raw grassfed butter and coffee. If this stops working, not sure what I'll do. LOL

Mjgh, how many up and down days is JUDD? Curious.

I know what you meant but I pictured a stick of butter walking around munching on grass...

Juddd has an up day followed by a down day, rotating back and forth. The up day you can eat whatever you want and as any calories as you want. The down day you use their calculator to determine what your calories should be - most often under 500. It works for a lot of people.

Thanks for that info! Is it low carb though? Or just low calorie?

It can be both or neither. If you follow it as the plan states it is high calories some days because UD you eat whatever, low calories the DD; and it can be high carbs as well. But many people use it with another way of eating so if you use Atkins like me I always do low carb and my UD is around 1200-1600cals with DD lower than 500cals most times.

Welcome AlyNicole! Are you just starting out with LC eating? (or some other plan?) I started right before Thanksgiving last year and did fine. You definitely can do it if you set your mind to it and stick with it! Good luck!

Did fat fast on Sunday, and felt good. Then started with fat fast yesterday but body didn't like it. Felt hungry and fatigued about noon so ate vinegar chicken. Also had some bone broth that I have simmering. Hum, thought I had something else last night but can't remember. But, only 6.2 pounds to go for goal.

Bummer about yesterday! I don't know much about fat fasts, is that a common occurence? Look at you, so close to your goal here!

Danielle, there are many types of fasts - three most common are the meat & eggs fast for a week you nothing but meat & eggs; the fat fast for 3-4 days you eat nothing but fats throughout the day; and a complete fast for a day where you eat nothing just drink. All are supposed to help you get further into ketosis and burn even more fat. They also help break up a stall.

I did a complete fast yesterday in prep for TG and OMG was I hungry. When I started back in October I was complete fasting every other day and had no problems because I had no appetite to eat. My metabolism was shot. I did it for three weeks that way before starting to eat every day. Eating every day has given me an appetite. So my metabolism is healing. I don't think before yesterday I have ever felt hunger pains. I do not think I would be able to do rotational fast like I did in the beginning ever again.

Start Date 10/23/13

That was only my second fat fast. The first lasted two days, just a bit hungry by the end of the second day. This time, day one was great, felt good. But hit bottom second day early. I just go with it though. I do what my body tells me is ok. I refuse to be hungry or feel bad on LC, so I modify as needed to get back to feeling good. That includes carb up days as long as it's been a while since the last one. And for carb up, I only do the one evening, but I feel good afterward and no issues at all getting right back into LC the next day. Also, I find that I'm back in ketosis very early the very next day so it seems to work with my body, rather than against it. Possibly due to VLC the rest of the time. (I think I'm about 10g carbs a day)

I don't want to even try complete fasts as I refuse to ever starve myself again. (Total agreement with Mjgh) Every obese person on the planet got there, I believe, from starving themselves at some point, or many points.

So on my fat fast days, I eat as much of my homemade butter as I need to not be hungry. A tablespoon at a time.

I'm going to add a prediction about what will happen to my weight due to Thanksgiving foods. Very curious to see how close I am. Friday to Sunday after, I'll gain about 5 pounds (3-4 lbs water). Saturday or Sunday I'll do a one day fat fast. Saturday to Thursday I'll lose the water weight. Friday I'll be back at 204. Going to be interesting.
