Thanks, Marika!

Jeaniem, I'm doing induction by the book (except I had red wine Thurs night). Usually at the beginning of induction I lose well and even though I stay induction and below 20 carbs after that, the loss slows down. And I don't drink enough water. I drink 1 lg coffee, lots of iced tea, 2 diet Dr Pepper and very little plain water. I think drinking water helps me lose better but I still forget to drink it.

Hi I'm Lola. I've been doing Atkins low carb since 2004. Not lost mega amounts but enjoy the way of eating. I tried JUDDD but just seemed to go up a pound then down a pound I never made much progress.

Tobelowcatber you are doing fantastic what a loss in 8 days. I would like to join in but going away for holiday 24th October till 6 November so starting today but will be a little interruption between. Think i will give juddd another go. Might be easier with the holiday.

October 20/70 147 DD 50

PS I do find it frustrating with the boards though that the latest posts are at the end of the threads

Mojo, I think Stephen Guyanet is into something. When I eat delicious food I also have a problem controlling myself. I have an issue when I combine homemade mayo with hard boiled eggs or leftover salmon. Once I put them on oopsie rolls I can't stop eating it, even though it is pure protein with very little carb from eggs. What can I tell you, I am a darn good cook ). I should just boil the meat and eat it plain with no salt but I love flavorful food too much. I guess that's my downfall. I have not ventured out into crazy spicing much. I probably should. I started incorporating SLD again few days back and this time it is not as effective as it was when I first tried it. I guess now is different because I am doing JUDDD, so I am eating less calories on DD and can't expect the same AS. I will continue for another week or so and re-evaluate. If is not effective, than I rather used the calories from ghee on food

Lola. Whenever you are ready we are here. If you want to join in November that's fine. I think this challenge will continue till the new year and then we can always extend it

Thank you Tobelowcarber. If I am honest it is your fab losses that has inspired me to try JUDDD again (no pressure there then lol) and weighing and checking in daily will be another motivation to stick with it all. Just finished mammoth workout at the gym following by tough Yoga class and steam sauna. Feel great now. And have only drank 2 soy milk coffee's so will be within 406 calories today YAY...

I think apples are not my friends. I thought it was the sugar and part of it is, but I've been reading about FODMAP and apples are major culprits. The restriction list on FODMAPS is depressing and in terms of food rewards there are very little..LOL... I've always had a funny tummy and am thinking I should look into this. Has anyone tried FODMAPS?

Yes Mojocat unfortunately, apples have a depressing 6 teaspoons of natural sugar in them. I used to love apples. And I remember when I was about 14 yeas of age and totally unknowledgeable about diets I lived off apples all day long and lost loads of weight to fit in with my peer groups at school. (SAD). Start of eating disorders!!

Hope that you all have a lovely day. Raining her in UK and very Autumnal. Off to work...but 1kg down YAY (sorry my scales are in kilos) but down 2lbs from yesterday YAY YAY . Just hope that the bounce doesn't stagnate again.

Thanks everyone, apparently oranges are safe though and I love navel oranges..they are so nice and juicy at the moment.

Lola I visited your beautiful country two months ago and it is definitely a place we want to return to. I remember the delicious lamb shanks and smoked ham ribs..mmm...fried black pudding.. and the best chips in Whitby. They tasted like they were cooked in butter and they asked if I wanted "scraps" on top which was the fish batter - oh my goodness, I went back for a second lot. Also had some double thick cooked chips at another place - crispy on the outside and fluffy inside. I broke my no carb rule in the UK for the chips..hahaha..but so worth the pleasure and I have no regrets. The fields were a sea of red and yellow from the poppies and the rapeseed flowers - oh gosh - I loved England it brings out the poet in me.

Anyway JeanieM I just read the most amazing book on binge eating. I swear to you this is the last book I will ever read on bingeing - with real strategies to beat this horrible beast. I've never felt so pumped and excited and yes, hopeful, that I can overcome this. It's by Josie Spinali and called How to Have Your Cake and Your Skinny Jeans Too: Stop Binge Eating, Overeating and Dieting For Good Get the Naturally Thin Body You Crave From the Inside Out. Yes I know the title sounds like some frilly magazine editor type book, but trust me it is not. By the way it's not a book, only available on Kindle, which is a pain as I prefer books to refer to but trust me this is the best $9 I have ever spent... I'm so ready to take on all the recommendations. I have spent tonight writing and writing copious notes. I'm not sure if this will help you Marika as your probs seem to be directly associated with the week before TOM and are hormonal related, but for me this offers heaps of behavioural modifications which make so much sense and absolutely do-able. I truly haven't felt so excited and hopeful ever about the prospect of a cure. I hope with all my heart that you can find this book as helpful and make you as happy as I have felt tonight.

Thank you Mojocat. Personally we hate living here, we prefer to be in a much warmer climate. Having lived in Spain for several years and we are hoping to return very soon - when and if the economy picks up. Not very patriotic I am afraid lol.

Yes where you were in the North of England the chips and things are "hard core". I live in the Middle of UK and we are not so up on the chips and black pudding. Where I used to live in Spain they did a fruit black pudding with raisins, cherries and nuts and fry that with chips...it was lush...bit like our Christmas Pudding but with chips...

Anyway no more talk of chips that is banned we are all on the 90 day purge lol.

So I currently have no heating, no hot water (cold shower from gym) and no oven...talk about luxury ha ha....and I was thinking remind me why I paid for a new boiler in February...hmmm it was so this didn't happen. Engineer coming 7.30am tomorrow so fingers x'd he gets fixed quickly.

Loving this challenge. Thank you Jeaniem for setting up.

Mojo, I will check the book out. Oh No, I can't -I don't have kindle (yet)!
You are right, it will probably not work for me. Sometimes I wish my binges were not hormonal, I always think it would be easier to use all the psychological techniques. With hormones unfortunately there is no negotiations I hope the book will help you and Jeanie.

Lola- that's a real bummer not to have heat, hot water and oven. Keeping my fingers crossed that you get the boiler fixed ASAP.

Mojocat I would gladly exchange with you... I am trying to encourage my children to go down to Aus as I think the lifestyle etc will be much better for them...once they are there then we can go

Australia seems much more controlled with immigration than we are here in the UK and its quite hard to get in there now for our age unless you have £500K spare...which we don't lol. We were all set to go a few years ago then unfortunately, my Dad died and it changed the whole thing.

So its now tell me again why I went blonde? Yep it was the switch for heating has been accidentally switched off Ooops. Didn't even know there was a rocker switch on the wall in utility room. Too much stuff in front of it...And there I was yesterday with a torch in the airing cupboard re setting and trying to get it started whilst on the phone to Engineer....OH well he said I wasn't the only one..ha ha.

Raining here please send us some sunshine Mojocat...but it won't happen now Autumn is coming lol. Off to Canaries in a week so lovely sunshine there. YAY.

Marika you have to definitely put the Kindle on your Xmas list. I love mine...they are fab and you can buy books off A for 99p each. I never thought I would like an electronic device to read books but I love mine.

Oh and PS...no offence to anyone blonde I love being blonde...especially as the grey is now coming through ha ha.

I know that I have to give this time but I notice from your stats Tobelowcarber that you are going down each day whether its an UD or a DD. This was the pattern that I did before. I.d go up 1lb or so on UD and down the same amount on a DD..I never seemed to go anywhere...so any tips appreciated and I will stick a little longer.

I ate 406 on my DD
and yesterday on my UD 1600 cals.

Lola, give it more time. Sometimes the weight loss on JUDDD is like bouncing ball. You go up and down but in the long run you will see downward movement. I am not always going down, sometimes I am stack after DD. I feel like I have been stagnant for 1 week. It took me 1 week to recover after my last binge. I am going to increase my DD calories slightly. When I followed JUDDD few months ago my DD were anywhere from 400-700 and UD 1500-1800 and I was losing nicely. I would first stick with your numbers from JUDDD calculator and if you don't see downward movement than I would play with the number but you want to stick with something for at least 2 weeks before you change it.

I am thinking of getting kindle only for the fact that lots of books are now only available on kindle. I am old fashion I guess, as I love to have the actual book in hand. Maybe once I get the kindle I will change my mind.

You are lucky to go to Canarias. I love Las Palmas but have not been there in few years. What a place

Mojo-I would switch with you and move to Australia. I love the heat , as long as it is not humid. Is it humid there? I have noticed that humid weather makes me binge more. It sounds strange, as normally people eat less in hot weather.

I am not looking forward to the winter, it is starting to cool down here in CT, although it is still decent. Fall is very pretty here with leaves changing color.
I am starting to freeze on DD. Oh my goodness, I have to drink lots of broth or warm water to get through my DD lately.

It's not fair isn't it. I hate the heat and live in a hot climate; you guys like the heat and so on.... Yes it does get humid and muggy here in the summer. Thank goodness for air conditioning and pools. We are currently alight with bush fires everywhere. This week the skies were a surreal red from the smoke and fires, it was like that V TV series where the sky turned red. My walking track to the beach was burnt out as well, it's all black and ugly now I also hope my girls meet a nice UK boy so mumsy can come and visit and stay for long periods of time

Truthfully, I am aware of most of what I have read so far (perhaps from the insight of other books), but need the fix I hope she gives me perspective on that. Sounds like she has another book coming??
