Hmm I've only been on it for a week but I am getting good AS already, feeling full quickly. A good diet, weight loss and exercise helped with my depression but brought on binge eating. BED is the dopamine pleasure seeking centre in the brain. WB works on dopamine receptors. I'm giving it a shot and if it doesn't work I will dump them. They seem to have the lesser withdrawal effects than SSRI's. I must read Chris Kresser's blog.

Nice to see you girls doing so well! Jeaniem I can't believe the amazing AS I'm getting from the WB; it's almost a miracle for me. I have stopped thinking of food all the time and am not craving anything; I haven't felt like this in years. I can IF all day and then have my evening meal, not feel anymore "hunger" or need to binge/graze and then go for a walk or cycle and end the eating there . I do have the odd lower brain thought flicker through my head during the day but I squash it by ignoring it (aka Brain over Binge) and get on with what I'm doing and it's fine. I'm even down to my lowest ever now at 120. It seems to be eliminating my thoughts of food as pleasure; sort of pushing it all to the background and not as important.

I know this can't be a cure or a long-term solution but I hope to maybe keep this up for at least 4 months using BOB strategies to cope with the lower brain voice; and eliminating old habits with new ones, dealing with Pavlovian cues aka David Kessler End to Overeating allowing me time to rein in the monster. At this stage I really don't care now what my diet or macro/micro nutrients are..lol.. I'm just going to eat when hungry, smaller portions, low carb, no sugar/gluten and no bingeing.

Not really surprising at all to me, from what I have read it is very common to develop BED after dieting/restriction. What I would like to figure out is why some people are able to overcome it or escape it altogether?? I think some of it may be hormonal and why I feel so good eating carbs every week or so, problem is I am losing control more often which has the opposite effect.

Can I join you all? I started this WOE at the beginning of 2013 and haven't done nearly as well as I wanted to. And it's because I went off the plan a couple of times for a month or two at a time. Many ups and downs with a net loss of 16 lbs (including the 2lbs this week).

Maybe watching you guys lose and counting "out loud" will be the motivation I need. I restarted 10/15.

Realistically I'll shoot for 15 lbs and would be very, very happy with 20. (fingers crossed for willpower)

I have discovered a new diet. It's call the Boring Food diet. I have been craving beef all week and so yesterday cooked up a long slow beef casserole with the meat falling into pieces it was so soft. It was so delicious..I couldn't stop eating it and I had to portion out the leftovers straight in the fridge and wash the dish out quickly as I could almost feel that mindless eating coming on and that full stomach feeling that seems to set off the binges. If not for the WB I'm sure it would have turned into a full-on binge. Strangely enough if was fatty protein food that seemed to be the trigger this time. I think now that I'm at goal weight it's a totally different ball game and I have to re-assess my eating. I believe when I was heavier I could get away with lots of fatty meat, but now it seems I have to limit any good tasting food regardless of whether it's protein, fat, etc. In fact I'm finding fat and meat a huge trigger these days, especially if I cook it. I should limit myself to the supermarket ready cooked tastless junk instead of home made.

When I eat boring food during the week, in my case tuna, salad, soups I find I have no hunger afterwards or any further compulsion to eat. On weekends I love to cook a roast or something nice but I guess that brings me to my point that I have decided to absolutely limit any good tasting food. I believe this whole food reward aka Stephen Guyanet (sorry don't know if that is right spelling) is something I need to follow at this stage, start eating to live and push food pleasure a bit more in the background. Then again maybe this is the WB talking..lol..

Marika did you ever do the crazy spicing aka SLD? What did you use? Maybe I should just sprinkle cayenne pepper on my trigger foods. But yes this is my new aha moment...
