Hi everyone!

I have been making terrible choices lately, and think I am not ready to make a commitment to Atkins. So I am going to try a mind game on myself where my only rule is no binging and see how that goes. I do not think I will be successful on any plan until I've got the binge monster tamed, if not conquered.

Gibby - I am so sorry about your friend.
Hope your dryer is repaired easily & cheaply.

Abigale - Sounds like a fun time with your childhood neighbors. I love that Mrs K is still going strong at 90!

Bec - Congrats on the new low!

Turtle - Hi! I am new to this challenge too, and everyone is so lovely and welcoming. I like your idea about not worrying about the scale and gauging loss by how your clothes fit. I honestly don't care how much I weigh, I just want my size 6 jeans to fit again. I am an ice cream freak also, but I love me some movie popcorn.

TTYL!

Mimsey, you are not alone....I am the size of two healthy people. We can do this!

BTW the dryer is fixed! The blow motor was out of alignment so they lined everything up and it sounds like new! Not bad for a 12 year old machine.

Mimsey, stopping the binge monster is a very good way to start! You are well on your way to get back into those size 6 jeans!

Marilee, so happy your drier is back working! When I think of all the things I could live without and the things I just could not live without, my washer, drier and car are my prized possessions!

Hi Abi! I should get my candles next week. I can't wait.

Does anyone have any ideas for making a LC mushroom cream sauce to go over the pork chops? I used to use cream of mushroom soup, but I'm not sure how many carbs it has.

I would cook up fresh mushrooms in butter and when they are good and brown so the flavor is all released I would just add some heavy cream to them. Candles should be there real quick now!

hey girls, great to see everyone posting!...

mimsy, i agree, if you are not ready to commit to a restrictive plan at the moment, you can make any kind of plan you know you have a good chance of achieving, like a "no binging" plan...good for you!

marilee, great job on the shopping...i really do think that is the key to staying on plan...i was gonna suggest the same recipe abi did on the mushroom sauce... :-) you'll have to tell us how the candles smell!...

abs, is probably done with her bacon and eggs by now...and i am off to the gym for only the second time this week...gotta get on the stick!

emmy and her hubby and my oldest and his gf are coming over today and we are meeting friends for dinner at an italian restaurant in town...i think i'll be having the baked haddock!

see y'all later...

Scrambled eggs and bacon was delicious Tony. Our waitress was so relieved I was not ordering just two poached eggs. lol Enjoy that meal with the kids tonight and don't over due it with the exercising today! Boy, it won't be long before that little grandchild arrives!

Marilee, how did the sauce turn out? I love cooked fresh mushrooms. Canned - not so much.

Reading some David Baldacci books that DH has just finished reading. Pretty good! Reading gets my mind off eating!

Abi, you are more efficient than I am. I haven't made the sauce yet. The chops are in the freezer. I'll let you know when I make it.

Well Marilee, you are the organized one. I would have the chops all thawed and then think, I wish I had some fresh mushrooms to make a mushroom cream sauce. lol

so, marilee, what did you make for dinner?...was it the ribeye?... :-)

abs, i had a great workout at the gym - i wasn't slowed down by only going twice this week, although i will make sure i go at least three times this week...i also did some swimming this afternoon - yes, the pool is still open and the water is 85 degrees...i will probably close it sometime in the next few days...the winter cover has a hole in it that needs to be repaired...

i was such a good boy at the restaurant tonight - ordered broiled haddock with steamed broccoli on the side...pasta and bread are not allowed until i get below 228.8, so i was limited...now it is after curfew so no worries about the rest of the night...my weight was holding at 230.2 this morning...

hope everyone starts the new week off strong!...

Glad the gym workout went well Tony. Hope you get your 3 workouts in this week.

FF, if you pop in today, have you gotten any new pain medicine yet for your leg? Sure hope so. Cooler weather is on the way and it would be nice if you could get out more.

I have tuna and .....wait for it - pork rinds to take for lunch today! Will probably have ground beef for dinner.

Have a super day everyone! Hope you all tell us how you are doing today.

Abi, I waited for it.....pork rinds....love them!

Tony, I didn't have the ribeye - I still have a lot of NS food and I'm not throwing it away so I'm using it up. It will probably take a while. But, on the NS program, you have to add protein so I'm stocked up. The bacon is off plan, but WTH!!!!

Reputedly, there is a product called NoStarch that will allow you to thicken sauces without carbs. I keep meaning to look for it on Amazon.

I did not disgrace myself fully at my hardcore badness meal on Sunday. Some food remained uneaten, I am happy to say. I also worked for an hour in the morning, gardening and taking out trash, and then, after the brunch, spent a long time walking around Tysons Mall, looking for my favorite store which has apparently closed. So at least I got some exercise to go with that excessively carby meal, and it was great to see my friend.

Back on track today. Yay for me.

i had a good day...didn't eat anything til 6 p.m. when i had baked salmon and asparagus at a restaurant where i met one of my former employees - she had worked for me for 20 years and we hadn't seen each other since emmy's wedding...

busy week coming up...picking up a buddy from the airport tomorrow and have tons to do in the morning and early afternoon...i finished a song today that i really really like...weds it's back to class...

stay strong kids!

I was up Marilee but looking at e-mails and facebook. Sorry you can't sleep. It will be a long day for you. I ordered a candle for a friend in Florida yesterday. When I got home I had a ups tracking note and number from our candle company. Did you get one with your order too?

Tony, hmmmm, I seem to recall having some pork rinds in the past. We hope your new song is a smash hit! We can say we knew you when!

Today is free pizza day at work. I will have the tops off 2 slices.

Need to get going. Have a great day Blitzers!

Wow, Abigale, I never thought of just eating the tops of pizza. What a great idea. The people here are always having pizza or donuts or bagels brought in. Luckily for me, the central area for this madness is a table on one side of a corridor that's blocked by a freestanding wall that I, as a short person, cannot see over. Otherwise, I would constantly be backsliding into full-on carbyness. I am so thankful for that wall.

Egg salad and Trader's Joe's Pot Roast and TJ's Pomodoro sauce and cauliflower (plus a little cheese to sprinkle) for me today. I don't know why, but I never get tired of egg salad. It's so plain, too. Mustard, mayo, salt and pepper. I've tried variations, but they're never as good.

Turtle, I love egg salad. Along with the mustard, mayo, salt and pepper I add onion, celery and a shot of dill pickle juice. But I like it your way, too! No way is bad when it comes to egg salad...

I thought I'd share a picture of last night's sunset. It was beautiful. There are more vibrant ones than the one I chose, but I had to do the saguaro cactus in there.

bec, congratulations on the new low, girl!...a whole month is a great accomplishment!...

marilee, thanks for sharing the sunset...happy you liked the candles - maybe someone slipped a little thc in there by mistake (while they were trying for tlc and missed), so you should be feeling great after lighting up... :-) * i'm just teasing in case there is a dea agent lurking!

hey turtle, i LOVE egg salad too - i rarely think to make it, but i made it on saturday and enjoyed it for a few days...

hey abs, how's hubby feeling?...what was on the pizza today?...

i posted a long message this morning and it's not here :-(

had a good day - i didn't eat all day and had 1/2 chicken dry-rubbed on the grill tonight...i will probably have some kind of snack before curfew...when i picked up my friend from the airport today, he said i looked much more fit and in shape than i did when he left 8 months ago...he was oversees taking care of his dying mother, who passed away this summer...that made me feel good although i'm at least ten lbs. heavier than i was when he left - he said i looked a lot more muscular, so some of the weight must be that...

hope everyone has a great night!

Bec, congratulations on a great losing month! You are a real inspiration to us all. How is the painting coming along? Now don't be throwing any of them away!

Marilee, I am so glad you finally got your candles and like the scents! I love your sunset photo with the cactus in it. Now you took that picture? It is so beautiful! Don't forget we want a picture of your patio too!

Turtle, they put so much cheese and toppings on you are really full just eating those. If I were eating the crusts I would feel so full and it would be hard to work all afternoon. I love egg salad too and I just put mayo in mine. Now tuna salad I like onion and celery chopped up in it.

Tony, I don't even know what thc is? lol Maybe you don't really need to lose any more weight. Maybe under the muscle you are a 185 weakling? On pizza day they have 4 or 5 choices. Mushroom and meat lovers which I take one of each , cheese, pepperoni, and bbq chicken. DH had his best day yesterday in months. Pain is still there but he got up off his recliner, loaded the truck with our trash and recyling to take down to the road. I have been taking it down since his surgery, he drained a hot water heater that is out in the garage before freezing weather comes, and several other jobs. He will probably pay dearly today but thinks maybe in time he will feel better if he moves around more. I could have told him that but bit my tongue and let him figure that out for himself. lol

Have a great day everyone!

hi abs, i wish i didn't have more weight to lose...honestly, i have a lot to lose...when i was about 30 years old, i worked out at the gym regularly and i was very muscular and weighed in the 190s, and that was probably still too heavy...i'm only 5'8"+ tall and based on that, i think my bmi is up in the mid 30s...i am large boned, but still...

i'm happy to hear hubby had a good day...from my experience, he may feel sore today, but should try to keep moving tomorrow...even if he does an every-other-day thing for a while, he will probably notice increased strength and decreased pain...has he considered physical therapy?...i didn't believe it could help me and it literally gave me my life back both before and after surgery...their eval, allows them to prescribe routines that build the muscles that have atrophied...it works!

the pizza toppings sound really good...btw, i make my egg salad and tuna the same way as you! :-)

busy day today: gym, then work, then class til 8:30 tonight...see y'all later!

Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I have only been painting in fits and spurts so it will be a while before I show what I have (and I won't throw it away)
