Abi - Notes on Pork Rinds: My next desired try for pork rinds is the "cinnamon" pork rinds. I read a post on here that you can drizzle them with butter, sweetener, and cinnamon and they are a wonderful treat! Have you tried this?

Lori, I have not tried that but boy it does sound good! Let us know if you do try it how you like them.

artemis, I am wondering if your new job is going to be less stressful and that you will have nice normal 8 hour days? Sure do hope so!

We had our first real snow fall last night. Fortunately it was only a couple of inches so far. Son in law in Missouri posted at 3 am this morning that it was 9 degrees and -1 with the wind chill. They also have snow on the ground.

Tony, so glad you got to talk to FF and that he is fine except for the pain. He and DH could compare notes. Those nerves can raise havok! You and your wife should congratulate yourselves on raising 5 children with good values and being such a close knit family!

Mama, that is pretty much the recipe I found on line and tried. I like it alot. I put cream cheese on top and sprinkled a little splenda on it and it was similar to a cinnamon bun.

Marilee, are you still having that cold spell? It looks like maybe in the 50's. That is pretty darn cold for Phoenix isn't it?

One of my work mates is having a glass party at her house tomorrow afternoon. She makes jewelry, candle holders, bowls etc. from glass. Really lovely things. I think at last count she has invited about 30 women and her house is pretty tiny. She is serving wine among other refreshments so I don't think anyone will notice that we are packed in her living room like sardines. lol

Need to get some cleaning done. Will check back later to see what everyone is up to. Have a great Saturday Blitzers!

hey abs, today is a boy and girl baby shower for emmy and sal thrown by his family...gonna be a brunch i think...should be nice as it is at his grandparents house which is in our town, but we have never met them as they were in hawaii during the wedding...

all my kids and sal (except sarah) stayed here last night...all the boys were playing video games until 3 a.m., so they will be dragging their butts around today, i'm sure...we had a nice dinner at a restaurant last night for my youngest's bday and the kids were all there...we were at an italian restaurant, but i had the baked half-chicken with steamed broccoli...i was a very good boy!

got my son some archery stuff for his bday and he was very very happy

today is day 7 of being on-plan and it feels good! :-)

how's everyone else today?

Good morning Blitzers!

Hope you are all having a relaxing weekend!

Tony, what fun to have most of your family spending the night. I bet the boys had a great time playing the video games. Wonderful your son liked his archery equipment!

Good going for staying on plan for 7 days in a row!

My friend that is having the glass party posted some new glass ornaments she just created. I really love the snowflake.

Have a great day all!

Hey guys, just checking in. Sounds like everyone is doing great! I am just feeling like I need a hug the past couple of days....I got iced in from the storm and had to spend my birthday alone...yet again. *sighs* I just feel like I am not getting anywhere with getting this weight off. Haven't regained my motivation to workout. I have been taking it too easy on myself and rationalizing that all the stress with job changes and moving and family issues makes it ok to not push myself on this weight loss. But I don't want to wait until the New Year to get in gear because I can feel my clothes getting tighter and tighter. I want to give myself some tough love and put myself through a bootcamp of sorts. Aside from getting my doctoral degree, losing 125 lbs was the hardest thing I've ever done, and over the years I have let it slip and have slowly gained it back. Granted, I am not as heavy as I was back then, but still I know that if I don't stop it now it can get even more out of control. I know it will be hard, but I have to do it. Time to suck it up and face the music!!

artemis, i hear ya and here's a big HUG

i think we've all been where you are - i was there 8 days ago, in fact, so i know it isn't easy to find motivation sometimes...when clothes start fitting tighter, that's usually my trigger...my suggestion is to go through your fridge and cabinets and trash every food item that are not on your plan and then go shopping, stocking up on alternatives you can eat without guilt...that's what i've been doing here and what i will do when i get to my apt in nashville...it's amazing how much easier it is to stay on plan when the bad stuff is not close at hand!...good luck! p.s. i know when you work out, you do some pretty intense stuff, but maybe you could start small and low-intensity, just to get moving...my workouts are not intense, but they have made a huge difference done consistently over many months...

abs, bacon and eggs today?...who joined you at the backside?...those are beautiful ornaments...can't wait to hear about what you bought at the party today :-)

just hanging out today before my flight tomorrow - hope the weather doesn't mess up my trip!

also

There is no time like the present to get back on the band wagon. What plan works best for you? Whatever it is, plan your meals for tomorrow and make any preps needed today. We can do it and not gain back all those hard earned losses!

Good morning Blitzers!

A little concerned about the drive to work today. They talked last night on the weather that driving might be a little slippery today. It is snowing right now at 4am but the front looks well south of us at the moment looking at the radar.

Our Christmas party is tonight at the restaurant. It will go from 7 to 9. I feel like I should go although driving home at 4 and then driving back 30 min for 7-9, then home by 9:30 only to have to be at work again at 7 tomorrow will be tough for me. Alot of the people I work with live 30 to 40 min away so they don't plan to go. Of course DH won't go because it is past his bedtime lol and he just does not feel well enough to stand around for a couple of hours.

Better get some chores done around here and get on the road a little earlier in case they are slippery in spots.

Have a great Monday all!

Hi Arte! Happy birthday late. I didn't log in over the weekend so I missed the date

I understand how you feel. I've been going through some stress of my own and I haven't been watching what I eat. And now, at work, all of the goodies are coming in and it is difficult to say no.

So, here's a hug for both of us

All of you in the East have sure been getting hit with the ice and snow. I work with people in Dallas and they were iced in on Friday and all this weekend.

Well, best get back to work.

Hey guys, great to see everyone....got to Nashville - the flight left Boston on time but we lost 45 mins in the air...they must have taken evasive action...haha!...the guy I was supposed to write with tomorrow canceled as he got stuck in DC...feel bad, but this is the 2nd time he's canceled in a row and I've never met him...it messed up my whole week, but I'm gonna shake it off. :-)

Eating on plan...skipped breakfast, had peanuts for lunch and baked chicken for dinner.

Can't wait to hear about the Xmas party abs...Marilee, do u have a party at work?...Lori?

Happy birthday Artemis!

Artemis, happy belated birthday! Wow, you've accomplished so much looking at your stats. There is no reason you can't keep going.

I myself had some trouble this weekend. I am getting caught up in finding a "plan". I get obsessed reading diet books. But so many have conflicting advice. Anyway, I will try again tomorrow and let you know how it goes.

Sorry about the flight and the wasted time, tony. That stinks.

Have a good night everyone!

Tony, sorry about the guy cancelling on you again. What a bummer. Good that you can shake it off though. The party was very nice. Got to see one of the guys that used to be in our dept. He is working at the store now and also we have a kiosk at the holyoke mall this Christmas that he is working at alot. He lives in Holyoke so he is on cloud nine. He is a very funny guy and a super salesman. He sure had some funny stories to tell about all the mall happenings. Our kiosk is right by Santa so lots of traffic.

My eating has been atrocious but have just cooked up a bunch of ground beef so no excuses now! Going to be strict for awhile!

Mama, I am guilty of jumping around alot with plans too. Then I waste food that I have on hand that does not fit the plan. I always go back to a meat and eggs based plan for the best results like Lori. When I try to make stuff with alot of ingredients that make it hard to figure the carbs and calories it messes with my head and I don't make much head way.

Marilee, I know what you mean about the goodies coming in at work. ugh This time of year is such a struggle.

The roads were very well salted coming back from the party at 9 last night. I was so relieved. They were shiny and wet and the temps were below freezing. They would have been treacherous black ice if not for the heavy salting.

Have a wonderful day Blitzers and keep up the good fight!

Good luck getting back on track, kids...it sure isn't easy this time of year, as I proved over thanksgiving!...

I'm on a roll going on day 10 of being on-plan, but I know I can slip at any moment...did my Nashville exercise routine this morning, so that felt good...

Meeting a buddy for coffee so I will check back later...stay strong blitzers!

Well, that hasn't happened for awhile. Just lost my post. ugh

Anyway, Tony, have you gotten to see Sarah this visit yet? Love veal marsala!

Have almost waited too long to get our daughter a Christmas present. We send money
for grandkids and sil but usually like to send a gift for DD. I shop at a store that she has out in Missouri so it is easy for her to exchange it. Last year I hit the nail on the head with something she really liked and it was the correct size. I see one of the stores is open at 6am this sat. over in Keene. That would give me time to shop, wrap and get to the post office before noon. Wish me luck!

Have a great day Blitzers!

Thanks for the good luck Tony! It is so great you get to see Sarah so often!

Need to go shopping after work today to get birthday cards for a niece and a nephew. Dec. always sneaks up on me. I always feel like I have an extra week in there in the middle but quess what - I don't!!

I have a hamburger on a coconut flour bun with low carb catsup for lunch today. I am doing better than I was but still not good enough. The resolve is heading in the right direction but it is not where it should be yet.

The temp out side is 12 degrees. Yikes. I went down the drive without my jacket on to get the paper and boy did it feel cold.

Have a great day Blitzers!

Tony, I like your idea of two good weeks before the holidays!

I have to run. Just wanted to check in and wish everyone a good day.

I plan on fixing my breakfast after my four year old goes to school as I don't have to to do anything but grab this am and when I grab I get in trouble. So will be a Late breakfast, but a good start to a day of eating on plan.

Haha mama...it could be worse!...if u can end this month where you are right now, that would be a big victory....

I'm not sure it is realistic to expect to lose weight between now and after new year's...my goal will be to have a net gain of zero - lose a few in the next two weeks and gain a few from Xmas eve to new year's...then start the new year off in a decent place with a lot of resolve!

Abs, I feel the same way about the holidays...they sneak up on me every year!

Gotta run for a writing appt...hope y'all have a great day...dinner with Sarah tonight. :-)

wow, where is everyone?...haha!...abs, you didn't have much to check up on, did ya?...

back home from nashville...weird week, but had fun and got one good song done...my publisher liked it...it was great to hang with sarah last night...we had dinner at a mexican restaurant - i had chicken and steak fajita innards - no tortilla...it was yummy...then she and her dog came to my apt and we watched tv together...it was so nice having her around :-)

now, it's the baby countdown - emmy is feeling great - no discomfort or feeling like she's ready, but she could go at any moment...at midnight, she'll be five days from her due date!

supposed to snow so i got a lot of running around to do tomorrow to get ready...my plow is at work, so i gotta get that and do some prep stuff at the house...

hope everyone is having a great night! :-)

Well, I did the mad dash to Keene at 6am. I was the only shopper at kohls. lol My sil just went over there and it was very busy. Bought DD a couple of cute things, wrapped them, and got to the post office before it closes at noon. Package should be there by Wed. Phew, glad that is done.

Am starting to write afew Christmas cards. We sure have not gotten many this year.

I'm heading to Church here in town at 4 today. Not going to try to get out of the driveway in the morning. DH just fired up the snow blower so I have my fingers crossed I won't have to shovel too much tomorrow!

Have bought a pot roast so will get that going in crock pot in the morning. Love to smell it cooking all day.

Have a good day Blitzers. Glad you are back in NH before the storm hits Tony. I'm sure your family is too!

hey abs, congrats on getting your daughter's gifts bought and in the mail...kohls is one of my favorite stores - they have such a nice assortment of things in there - most of my wardrobe comes from that place, although i'm sure they'd disavow any credit for the way i look!...haha!

Ok, come out, come out, wherever you are! No fair hibernating this winter!

Well, Tony, we got 10 inches so far. Bama and I went out and shoveled a path around the house and DH will snow blow when it gets light out.

I have only been in a kohls once in Missouri so yesterday was my second experience. Really nice and a good selection of clothing and kitchen ware.

Well, the pot roast is in the crock pot so the house smells great. I cleaned out the wood burning stove and DH has started a new fire so house will be toasty all day.

I need to get whatever Christmas cards I will be sending written up today. Hope everyone has a great day. I will check back later!
