Dinner tonight was broiled chicken seasoned with garlic/onion powder (DD16 fave) plus caprese salad (another DD fave), and some spaghetti squash for me and hubby...pasta for the kids.

Busy today...hope to read/chat more tomorrow Quick progress note...bouncing back and forth between 3 lbs. Eating lc but not induction level.

Stacy, YUM! I'm so glad we have some inspirational cooks here, cause God knows I need the inspiration! The bounce thing is so familiar it isn't even funny. In fact I bounced up a pound today which is really annoying, but I bounced up to 185 and just a couple of weeks ago (maybe less) I was bouncing up around 190, so I guess I can't really complain. Stick with it and the scale will move again... in it's own sweet, ridiculously unpredictbable, time

Liz, good luck with the assembly! I'm sure the lack of sleep isn't helping Hang in there...

Monica, I'm well. The last few nights out to dinner I think finally caused the scale to give me a reality check, even tough I did really well eating out, I thought? Who knows? You heard the GC recap Monday night, then Tue we had darts. I had a bunless burger at the bar, just patty & mustard plus 3 vodka/water/mio drinks (could be the issue?) then last night we went out again with my sis, bil & baby and I had salad, half my steak, broccoli w/ some butter and iced tea. Hard to explain the bounce, but I know the drill... could be anything

Laura~ I hope everything's ok?.....someone says dr and I start getting ...

Monica~ she came out like that...messy from the her first steps DH always teases her that how can someone who is so organized with her school work be soooooo messy every other way.

Stacy~ Mmmmm I love me some chicken! Sorry about the bounce, it's frustrating for sure. I had one for about 11 days. Hang in there cause it more than likely stick at the lowest!

---------------
Scale went down again. I am loving it this week! Of course next week I have a slingshot week---all high carb days... Just gonna pray that I maintain through all of that!!!

Just saw the forecast for this next week....we're near 90 come Monday! REALLY??

I'm supposed to be the one with the thin blood, Tami!
It's been in the 50's in the mornings here...feels so good! It's not quite hit 60 yet today... so niiiiicccee! I would much rather be cold than hot---you can bundle up when it's cold, and well, when you're hot the only options are get nekkid or stand in front of a fan all day Plus, I don't like the "sweaty thing" that heat brings on.. Yick!

LOL... My perfect day is seriously a high of 90, with pleasant mornings & evenings and just hot enough in the afternoons to go swimming - or hide in the A/C. lol We've been low 40's in the mornings, though. 50's might be doable? Maybe? lol

Tami & Danielle - LOL When I went for my morning walk, it was 32 degrees. I'm starting to think that I need to start on the treadmill now. I'm good with the 40's but once the 30's hits, its not so enjoyable

Brrrr... Stacy! Good for you for getting out there and doing it anyway, though!

It was funny when we got to dinner last night. We had to wait outside to be seated for a bit and my sister was in jeans, short sleeves, and flip flops. My BIL was in shorts, t-shirt & flip flops. I was in Jeans, shirt, clogs w/ socks and a sweater and was cold! They were laughing at me. They're having a 'second summer' since moving down from Idaho

I've always been a foodie, but I have been coming to LCF for recipe inspiration for years.

So I know how to get past the bounce....I need to go back to tracking and eat within induction levels, but I think that since it's been colder here, I am eating for comfort. I'm eating LC, but probably too much, and I still have a ways to go, so in order to see the scale moving, I need to buckle down and focus on the "on plan" eating. I've just been too lazy to track and too tired to follow the plan strictly. Maybe I will pull out my atkins book....maybe it will inspire me to step it up!

Laura, way to go on the check up. I am sure the DR was thrilled.

Tami - I am always cold! ALWAYS! I wear a jacket at work year round. I love the seasons though. For christmas I have asked for one of those Heat sensor type coats from Columbia sports wear. They are expensive, but supposedly keep you really warm. I love winter and the snow, just not being cold all the time!

Wendy - You can do this girl!

Stacy - your recipes and cooking inspire me!

Danielle - seen any good movies lately??

Hello ladies! Checkin in real quick before I gotta hustle and get ready...DD17 is out extra early today (9:30 as opposed to 10:30) so I'm taking her shopping for alittle bit.

Monica~ saw Last Vegas last week--very cute!!! Seeing Thor tonight! I really really wanna see Dallas Buyers Club--may have to go see that by myself one afternoon. You're doing fabulous..hang in there honey!!

Scale's moved a smidge again--so grateful for a wonderful weight loss week Free day today--not sure what I'm gonna do with it yet, but I DO know there will be a Starbucks involved!...Oh, and movie popcorn!!!

BBL to check in.

Awesome, Laura! Gotta love an excellent check up!

Monica, I hear you on being cold all the time. I do like the snow, too, but prefer it in small quantities. I've never lived in the stuff, but I figure as long as there is a heated house waiting I would be fine. The coat sounds interesting! 171... well done! I dream of being there... maintain if you need. I think it sounds quite reasonable through the holidays.

Danielle, love that the scale just continues to move for you. You're rocking this! Enjoy your free day

Hi Wendy! Glad you were able to check in!

Stacy, you can do this

Scale didn't budge from yesterday's 185. Hope it doesn't decide to stay there for the next decade. lol. On a good note (excellent note) I won tickets to see Uncle Cracker next weekend. It's at a casino about an hour away, so I'm trying to find a room, too. Casino hotel is booked... so then hoping for room & shuttle. Hmmm. I am so excited, though. I love Uncle Cracker. Always have from back in his Kid Rock days. Fun fun fun!

Tami, that's awesome about the tickets. I love winning free stuff, especially if it's related to movies or music!!

Monica, yes we are most definitely part of a movie club

Ok, spent a small fortune at Bath & Body Works this morning...I *had* to! $5 body cremes, even the holiday scents! Now I can smell like candy canes and marshmallows I also got a couple more candles, one in particular, cinnamon frosting...crossing my fingers it doesn't make me hungry because it smells devine!

Ok! Time to eat!

Hi, everyone!!

Laura, WTG on the good checkup and the weight loss!!

Monica, the challenge is still young. Not even half over yet, is it? There's still lots of time!

That coat sounds very interesting indeed! I think I need some techno wizardry SOCKS to keep from getting cold feet this year.

Tami, however he's spelled, I hope you have a great time! Those tickets are YOURS!!

Danielle, I'm glad I'm not the only one who would go home with the entire store at Bath and Body Works! I love lotion and soap that smells like delicious food. Yesterday I heard of a shampoo from Japan that smells like fresh bread!!

Stacy, BRRRRR. 30's are too cold for me, too. My knees complain.

Me... My two-day seminar/workshop thing is over, and I'm back. I learned some very interesting things, and met some great people! (Stayed on plan, too.)

The workshop was about handling challenging behaviors in our kids. They made the point that behavior is communication, and that our kids are trying to get some need met when they act out. Because Gavin's expressive communication is still quite limited, he has learned to act out his communications in physical dramas instead. They don't always work for him, especially when he hits. Nobody cares *why* he hit them, what he was trying to say; they just want him to stop right now! So...the idea is to teach the kid - not in the middle of a crisis, but later or earlier when things are calm - a more socially-acceptable way to get his needs met.

We also covered "how to avoid having a crisis yourself at the same time your kid is having a crisis", and learned how to tell when we were about to have a crisis before it actually happens. Amazing! I learned that my "fight" response (as in "fight or flight") is to turn into a military commander, not listening to feedback, controlling, mission-oriented. If I start going there, getting rigid thinking and "my way or the highway" thoughts, I know I'm going into crisis myself; it's time to pay very close attention to what's going on and prioritize safety and de-escalation rather than instruction. Why no instruction? I learned that as you start to go into crisis (or your kid), your brain starts to "turn off" and you can't think clearly. Your thinking efficiency drops dramatically when you're in "fight or flight" mode. But: if you, the grown-up, make a plan *before* the crisis, you don't have to think. You can just carry out the plan. After crisis we're very vulnerable and that's a good time to just take care of yourself and kid physically/emotionally and wait until you all get back to "baseline" before you start thinking about how to teach and support "using better tools to get needs met next time".

In other news: I got the "mattress-in-a-box" in the mail yesterday. It's kind of amazing. It's been compressed into a roll, and you just cut the tape and watch it "inhale". Before long, it turns into a regular mattress! It's not an air mattress, it's a regular coil mattress. Very cool. Gavin *loves* it. I was unreasonably pleased all day about getting him a proper bed for his bedroom at last.

He's home sick today, however; and is listening to Led Zeppelin on the iPod at the moment.

Happy Friday!!

Lynne

Went shopping today! Had so much fun. I found a winter coat leather look with fake leopard print fur inside lining the whole thing and coming out the cuffs. It goes great with my velvety leopard print gloves. Also got 3 hoodies to keep me warm at work, 6 or 8 tops cuz who ever has enough? Then on to the pants, 2 pair of jeans, 4 pair of slacks. Oh and a real leather jacket for 3.00! I love yard sales and don't forget the lovely lovely thrift stores.

Hope everyone is doing well.

Hi ya'll!!!!

Gessh....Someone hid my computer cord on me. Actually, it was pushed under a chair. I could not find it and my laptop had the nerve to go to sleep. I finally pulled apart the house as I was having withdrawals and was not on my computer for days!!!! Actually, I had to pay bills.......or the cord would have lived under there for a bit longer.....

Missed you all and I was too lazy to go find ya'll on my phone. I've no patience and actually, if I was to be truthful about it. sigh...

I was pretty good last week, but bombed today; I found the Halloween candy again. Slap me.

BUT, I did pretend to be Linda Sue and did a lot of low carb baking! Flax muffins and coconut cheese biscuits. Egg muffies and other stuff. I'm all set for the week. I think. sigh.

Laura, great haul there!

I found a new shop in my town! Well, my friend at work told me about it. I went yesterday. It is the most beautiful consignment shop ever!! It even smells heavenly and clean! No odor at all! AND, everything is steamed by the owner and washed by her!

The dressing rooms are large and spacious and have huge beautiful framed mirrors! The dresses have their own little room. with a chandelier hanging from the ceiling. AND she makes coffee for the guests! I just loved the ambiance!

I spent $60 which is pretty steep for me, but I bought a coat which ate most of it. It is a lilac mohair, wool and what is the other coveted winter wool? Merino? I can't remember, but it had 3 good fibers and then 10% artificial lining. It is a jacket, but really cute!!! I have lavender leather gloves and a lilac pashima scarf which will match. I don't really have winter coats that fit well.

Then, I bought a gold skirt with a tulle overlay which is heavily beaded. It is beautiful. Gorgeous! Sing with me! la la la. Simple styling with a side zip and goes just past my knees. It is the beading that makes it beautiful and it was under $10. Holiday wear at its finest, I tell ya! Unknown label to me.

Then, a t-shirt with a sequined front from Express. Perfect! Beautiful! Looks cute on me!

Then, a J-crew mohair, angora and wool cardigan with a curled ruffled placket for only $11 on sale. My daughter will love it. I love it.

The last item was a gray sweatshirt, but instead of a sweatshirt with sleeves, it was a poncho. So, it still had the sweatshirt style hood and hood ties, as well as the front pocket, but it was a poncho. Perfect for me as it is more girly! That was an Express label and was only $6.

I like this store!!!

I have to go to work in the morning and I don't know what to wear! I'm thinking of a very basic teal long sleeve tshirt and jeans. I took a shower and put my hair up in leopard print soft rag snap curlers. So, since my hair will be curly, I'll put a scarf in and twist it over my forehead and bring opposite sides down and tie behind my hair. It will cover my roots and that is what I'm getting concerned about; the dirty blonde is showing up darker than the bleached blonde!!! At least it is not gray yet!!!!

K.....someone eles's turn!!! I'm cheating as I missed days!!!

This week and next - I have a jam packed work and personal schedule. Then following week DD19 is coming home from college and we will visit my parents up north for Thanksgiving. Then we drive DD back a few days later - I'm already exhaused just thinking about all this. I stayed on plan all weekend, and plan to all the way through turkey day, with the exception of a large spoonful serving of my mom's stuffing...the rest will be easy Around this year, all I care about is NO GAINS....so I'm not gonna kill myself if my stall stays with me. Everyone have a great week!

I really need to go shopping for some clothes..my tops are getting pretty baggy and frankly, sloppy looking.

Lynne~ that bed sounds so intriguing! I'm so glad that you found alot of useful information during your time at the conference--total win. Even more awesome that you stayed totally on plan!!

Stacy~ sounds like craziness and good things all rolled into one I cannot wait til my boy comes homes for the holiday...but even then he's only staying overnight cause he's got a gig w/ his band on Friday night.. Enjoy your week!
-------------

Scales doing it's "thang".. Well, I'm not helping things because I cannot seem to keep myself out of the dang movie popcorn! Took DD to see About Time yesterday---cute movie!

DD had her check up w/ the gastro doc this morning...she's dropped a couple pounds..he wasn't too alarmed....yet. We've still got work to do in getting more calories into this kid! Hard thing because there isn't necessarily a supplement she can "pop" in place of actual food, KWIM? Thankfully she does like the Quest bars so it's helping some w/ the protein intake and he said they were fine as long as they're all natural.. This kid is gonna be the death of me!

Moncica - whatcha did on the weekeeennd? Plans for this Friday?

Stacy....no gains. Go girl. I'd be crazy doing all that driving. I don't like to drive.

Danielle, I'm going to have to slide that popcorn over with the candy dish for Laura to keep a sharp eye on. Hope your dd feels better and gains some. Yay, that your son is coming home. Do you ever go see his band play?

Well, I bombed today. I don't know what the matter is with me the last few weeks. Halloween just dang did me done in. phhhtt.

I'm not even liking the candy anymore. I think my happiness stops with a can of cold diet coke. Now where did I put it? sigh.... it is probably warm now. Yuck.

The struggle is REAL, girls.

Today was a weird day. The assassins failed and I'm still here. Ugh.

The printers failed too and work was a mess. I have to print envelopes to one printer and cover sheets to another. It is like a flow chart gone wild. Where do I print? If A print to copy room d, if B print to 34. Then I have to walk a mile to the copy room D.

So, I guess they will fix this over the weekend and all week I'll have to concentrate to print what is what to the correct printer. Ladies, that is harder than my job. Well, I guess it isn't as my job has a million of variables, but the printer is just too easy for my brain to comprehend which makes it extremely tasking, like a flip flop dangling off your foot from a ski lift while you're trying to save a kitten. Ugh. My nerves.

To top it off, I washed my hair last night and could not find my brush so I blew dried it and slept on it. This morning it looked like a mop of curls (some would be looking for hay I'm sure) and inches shorter than usual. Took a quick bath and combed through it this morning and off I went. I don't think anyone knew who I was for a while with such short hair. All I heard was "your hair, your hair....your hair" Did they not remember six months ago when this happened when I could not find my brush and dd took my straightener? Gesshum.

Anyway, it is time for bed...off I go.... No more candy......
