LCF We Came We Saw We Conquered We're Back: Alumni Thread

Hello Friends, A new challenge is here! Does this describe you:

-Are you an LCF alumnus of success?
-Have you been successful for a long period of time, perhaps years?
-Are you just starting to or have you allowed things to slip?
-Do you fear getting "sucked in" to this board yet need a place to talk about recent weight creep or slipping on your LC plan or WOE?
-Did you love maintenance but somehow you gave yourself one too many allowances in the long haul?

If any of these sound like you, you're in the right place! The purpose of this challenge is for former LCF success stories to come and share their challenges and struggles. To help us get back on our feet, especially if we are new to the idea of putting weight back on and struggling.

If you are resonating with this post, good news: you HAVE done this before, and you CAN be successful. It's all about the mindset and support.

Post anything you need to in order to normalize things. Fears, menus, struggles whatever.

Welcome back!

Managed a fairly successful day. It wasn't my "best" but it wasn't my worst. I don't have sugar cravings at all... so what did I do wrong? haha.

OK, lacing up for a jog before work. Will check in on my phone since work blocks this site.

hugs to all...

Good morning Fitterly and anyone who shows up later today.

So glad to have this thread going!! Its nice to know i am not alone in this.

My struggle is that i dont think i know how to eat anymore. I think im doing everything right. I eat pretty much primal. Organic when i can, meat, veggies, very little to no fruit, a few nuts, greek yogurt. I take really good supplements. I take gelatin everyday, maca, apple cider vinegar with lemon every morning. I use ghee and coconut oil for good fats. I exercise. I eat about 1200 to 1300 calories per day most days. On the weekends i may eat a little more but rarely over 1600 calories. I have wine maybe twice a week, sometimes less. I dont eat grains. I very rarely have any sugar. If i do its maybe a half a cookie or a bite of something. And that is rare. I just dont know. I make all of my food for the week on the weekend so i dont have to think about it. I'm so confused and just lost!!!
Menu for this week.

Breakfast- 2 cage free eggs, with 1/2 chicken sausage cooked with some kale in 1/2 T ghee. Bullet proof coffee with 1T coconut ghee. Which is half ghee, half coconut oil.
Lunch- 1 boneless skinless chicken thigh, 1 boiled egg, cauliflower rice and sauerkraut.
Snack- 1 6oz container 2% fage
Dinner- salad of mixed green lettuces, a few grape tomatoes, 1 hot link, 1/4 of an avocado, 1T sunflower seeds, 5 pecan halves and walden farms dressing.
If i have a snack in the evening i have sf jello.

It ends up being about 1200 to 1300 calories.
very little carbs.
I dont know. Cut out nuts? i dont eat cheese. cut out my yogurt?

Will check in later!!

Hi Girls (and any guys lurking)!

It's awful how once we experience disordered eating, it becomes quite difficult to know what's "normal," and what should work for us.

I'm PMSing and focusing on healthy, LC choices!

Still wanting more to eat after my lunch (tuna & celery w/garlic EVOO & lavender balsamic + pepper), I had unsalted, mixed nuts. I ate more than I needed, but I'm happy to be full and satiated until dinner.

Well Girls, I hope it's okay to join you. I have been here a long time too. Same thing happened that you guys described, got sucked in. Spent a lot of time here. Even went to low carb events they had. Was really successful, but never did make it to goal, unlike you guys. But I am a pro at losing!

Going to start again but this time I think I figured something out. This is a lifestyle change for me, not a diet. So, how do I make that happen? I did find a great new site, you guys might want to check out. It's Maria Emmerich. I think getting back to cooking is what will be the biggest challenge for me. I too love my booze! I drink mostly when I eat out, so that might help.

Flitterly, thanks for the post, & to everyone who responded, nice to know I'm not the only one who feels this way...

Of course join in! Welcome! Love the approach with cooking. I am on auto pilot but I totally see the creative emerging with recipes... thanks for inspiring us!

Well... I'm having middle schmirtz which at my age is just extended pms. Why is it this bad! Mom of two I'm with you except I have no appetite and I'm crazy fluffy and crampy. But I managed to eek out a nice jog this morning. Salad at lunch sans dressing but with glorious goat cheese. Hope its ok to have?

I've not decided what to eat... I wish I had advice per what works. I used to be able to drop tons of weight with eating nuts. I loooove them. I'm wondering if they are causing issues.

Stay strong gals. Lets just pretend its a new ball game. We may just be pro athletes... by good karma not practice. I'm pretending I have a lot to learn. And I'm sure I forgot some important good habits.

Flitterly,

That little guy in your post made me laugh! No help with the exercise, I am not a huge fan. But, have you ever looked at cross fit? My middle daughter loves it! She's trying to talk this old lady into trying it. I have to admit,
(but not to her! ) it's intriguing... But-- she was also a Marine, hmm

Hi ladies!!

I'm glad to see there are a few of us.

I think we have to figure out how and what ot eat. How do we do that? When i lost before i lost so fast eating low carb. It wont come off now no matter what it seems. Am i still restricting too much? I dont know. when i ate low carb before it was just straight induction. i didnt count anything, just carbs. I didnt watch calories, fat or anything but carbs. I dont i can do that anymore. when i got down way too skinny i wasnt eating anything at all and all i was doing was cardio, no weightlifting at all. I enjoy lifting weights and i enjoy the cardio.

I follow tons of nutrition and fitness blogs and most of them say to eat about 1500 calories or more per day. I'm afraid i would gain weight if i ate that much everyday. But i have been scared to try.

Yesterday was crazy for me. I am a travel agent and we had our vendor training so all of the vendors brought crap for us to eat. The only bright spot was the Holland Cruise line vendor is a health nut and she brought big salads from Sprouts!! thank god for her. But she also brought cookies!! Then Insight Vacations brings cake boss cupcakes!! Then Pleasant Vacations brings chocolate. MLT brought fruit cups thank god!! So i was at least halfway good and only ate half a cupcake and 1 chocolate chip cookie but still!!!
So back on track today with a coconut flour waffle for breakfast, a coffee smoothie with gelatin and maca and unsweetened cocoa, chicken thigh and cauli rice for lunch, yogurt for snack and salad with hot link for dinner.

Have a great day ladies!!

Omg yes! What do we eat??? And those cupcakes sound like a good lcf recipe to make!

I'm not sure what the answer is. I'm going to spin in a few min. I have done induction for three days and I feel like I gained and my blood sugar is not at all low. So yes I feel your pain.

Ok gotta get ready for gym. More later!

Gotta get ready for work. Endorphin high for now. Ahhhhh.

Hello & Happy Wednesday!

Unfortunately, I loathe exercise...
Friends roped me into doing cross fit in the Spring and I really stared to bulk up, gaining muscle & weight. I hated everything about it. It made me hungrier & I ate more. I also hurt my back while doing kettle ball swings.

I'll stick with walking & biking, thank you very much.

I'm glad to see posts here on this thread! Everyone !!!

I can't seem to stay off the scale. I weigh daily. I'd like to get away from that someday, but I just can't seem to kick that habit.

After my 2 coffees w/CO & H&H, I'll be off to visit my Hospice patient & do some shopping.

Enjoy your day!

Yep! Nope! When I saw what they wanted per month I'm like no way! Unfortunately she has a gym in her garage. Fortunately, it's inconvenient.

I know, right momov2boys?! I saw an episode on tv of someone jumping up on a tire. A big tire. Told her, that's not happening, I know me well enough to know that will never happen!

One idea for you workout warriors, you really may not be eating enough. My daughter (same one) and I have had that conversation. She wasn't even eating enough to get out of bed let alone work out as hard as she does.

Hope you all are having a great day!

I am in the mindset with all of you, I am on week 1 , tomorrow I am in week #2 of induction, I do not see the big loss as I did last time. However, I am at a lower weight than I was when I began the last time... maybe that is why??

From doing Atkins strictly for 4 yrs prior to crawling my way back to a support forum for help and encouragement.. not to eat bread/pasta/potato's etc.. of course "i did" however, going back to Atkins and cutting it out seem's normal to my brain.

I have went grocery shopping and my cupboards/fridge/freezer(s) are stocked full of Atkins Induction friendly foods... Yes my family is secretly on Atkins as well..HAHA lucky them.. we could all stand to steer clear of heavy starches. I do have some starchy things for them to make with meals, however, it wont be like it used to be.

I worked so hard for 4 yrs to lose the weight and to reach goal (240lb - 130's) , now I sit in the 170's pissed off.. Like the rest of you, it wont come off at all!! I juggle the same 5 lbs... up down up down, to the point I get so frustrated i just throw my hands up!

This time, I am in it for the long haul again, I want my body back the way it was prior to be falling off the ship and sinking 50ft under water...

I weigh in everyday, today showed a nice 2lb loss...however..its not a 'new' number its the same #'s i've been juggling.. so once I get UNDER 168. I will be excited and in new terrority and I think my motivation to keep going will soar... I dont "feel" like I will see a loss tomorrow, but I know I ate everything on plan today.

I do follow the Atkins '72 by the letter its all i know, and I know it works... but I dont think its going to work as fast as it did before. We will all get there again, we will get that groove back, and that scale will eventually be our friend. I've drank so much water today I feel like I am going to float away, or better yet remain planted on a couch because its quite the uncomfortable feeling.

I am going to go walk this evening around my development, watered down feeling or not... baby steps will get me back in the gym...religiously...not sporatically.

Ok im done.. lol glad to be here with all of you!!

Spunki. Omg I'm sure others relate so much! As do I! We all just want to know... whats the catch... what's the magic? I like that as we try we share. I'm avoiding the scale now because I'm afraid ill have an expectation to lose. Not sure I could handle a zero sum game right now. I usually feel different when I lose and just on feel alone... hmm nep nep nope. Lol.

Did a hard workout tonight but taking a short walk because hust on butt all day. Then weight work out then dinner.

I wish I could convert the home to induction friendly. I just pretend crap I cant eat is invisible.

Snow I'm totally in board for eating more but a recent trip where I let loose a little = scarily growing waistline like I've never seen.

Ok I'm hungry. Will have a wee protein snack b4 weights.
So glad to have you spunki.

Guess who has access to this site at work!

Yahoo!!

Ughhhhhh when is it time to drive home? Honestly I sit on my butt so much that at the end of a work day I honestly don't even feel like I did a hardcore spinning class.

I feel like a doggie that needs a walk outside!

20 minutes... 20 minutes...

I think its secretly fun for me, because aside from this website I have told no one of my WOE or my plan to drop the weight... Im looking fwd to dropping enough that people begin to notice, and comment on it... My Fiance knows I am low carbing and he is very supportive (though he believes I am already "skinny"...Pffffffft!)

To some 170's would be an okay weight HOWEVER I am 5'4 @ 170, when at the time I met him I was 5'4 @ 136 ... Guess I got fat n happy? LOL

To me its a mind over body war... I know where I was, I know how it feels to feel sexy in your own skin... I want that back.. worse than I want another burger on a bun, or a loaded potato..OR...OR..OR the damned creamed chipped beef over a biscuit smothered over homefries (at work they serve this!!).. (stop drooling its BAD FOOD lol)...

So I will continue on, with my own secret agenda to see peoples jaws drop, and start commenting on a thinner me.... Its silly, I know...But it works somehow in my brain as a self esteem Booster --which I desparately need!!

Hello to you spunki! Flitterly, I didn't mean bad food! You silly! But maybe up the fat? More protein, but definitely more fat... Shelly, that might help you too. I am not doing Atkins per se this time. It's called Maria's way! lol But it is low carb, just higher fat.. Do you guys cook? She has some really amazing recipes. No joke. Just about anything you can imagine if you don't mind making it your self.

I cook all of my foods... I do not buy the Atkins Bars or frozen dinners..

I may cheat on bacon, cuz i buy microwavable ...easier to proportion out, and not so MESSY!

I boil my 18carton of eggs on sunday, let them cool..put them back into the carton and grab & go when in a pinch..

Dinners are cooked everynight... I get ALOT of my recipe's from Food.com ... I made my own zero carb "Almond Crisp Crackers" last night..they just like wheat thins, SO GOOD. I took them to work today for "reviews" from the critics and everyone raved about them

Not trying to sound all snooty patooty, and I got this all under my belt by any means...

Just throwing out ideas of things that I do

Hey everyone,
SpinkiMama i do the same things. I cook all of my food on the weekend so i can easily plan what im going to eat all week and it makes it so much faster. I dont mind eating the same things every day. I also boil eggs on the weekends!!
Snowangel i have also tried crossfit and it is tough!! I still do some crossfit but i do the stuff in my house. Lots of pushups, deadlifts, using dumbbells, kettlebells. I have also tried the whole eating more thing because i workout so much and ended up gaining weight. So im just at a loss still on what and how to eat to lose but not starve!!!
I need to check out that Mariasway.

I'm also a book junkie and a research junkie. I have every single lowcarb, paleo, primal, veterinarian, nutrition book out there!! I think i know too much for my own good sometimes.

Maybe we all need to take SpunkiMama's advise and just do clean Atkins 72 for a couple weeks and see how we feel. Just keep it clean and whole foods and thats it. Cut out the nuts and other stuff just to see if we can get things going.

I dont know. What do you guys think? We still had crap at work yesterday. But thank goodness our vendor training is over!! So back to normal. There is still stuff at work but it has been dispersed to the rest of the office now so the cookies and stuff wont last long now.

I'm thinking of doing a protein shake day today. Just to detox a little from the last 2 days of more sugar than what im used to. I have boiled eggs to snack on if i need real food. But I'm thinking about it. I dont know.

I have access to the site at work but i havent had any time to get on at all!!! It should be slower today so maybe i can sneak on later!!
Talk to you guys soon. Have a great day!!

So glad to have you spunki.

I don’t know the magic or the catch neither, if someone figures it out let me know. I just do what I know to do, which the only WOE that I know how to do is Atkins '72, I get crap from people at work who do not understand the program that I am working. All I hear is about how much fat I am eating, or how many calories I am consuming… Bottom line.. Do what works for you!! I cannot do a low fat/ low cal WOE , I feel like a rabbit and I fail every time I try. Atkin’s I can do because I can eat on plan yet feel so “naughty” lol like Hamburger, mushrooms sautéed in butter, with melted Velveeta… (grease drained). For me, in my perspective…. Its 2 carbs… in their perspective I’m clogging my arteries. Untrue, my cholesterol levels are in perfect range (go me!)

I used to stop my WOE anytime someone would make some ignorant remark, uneducated people barking an opinion… I am to the point that I don’t care anymore.

You have to find what works for you. What works for me is the Atkin’s 72, unmodified. Planning my meals ahead of time, packing my breakfast & lunch for work. Logging my foods daily, so i can see how I am doing.

staying on my plan, and not letting others snide remark cause me to fall off track.

This is my rollercoaster ride, and I am the Driver!!

I have to be strict , and have a strict plan.... because obviously if i get a bit to much wiggle room........ I lose all common sense...

Personally for me, i can not modify Atkins 72 to "my way", my way got me to gain 40lbs....... I can not be trusted with myself LOL

I need structure, rules, and self disciple... Im kind of like my own child LOL

Hi Everyone,

Sounds like the common denominator here is doing the old school version of Atkins. I guess I could try that, too. I am being lazy this morning. Was going to drive to the gym to do weights, but meh. I think I'll just go out for a run. Feeling a little bummed out today... don't want to give up though...

I am also having nausea. Hmmm... oh well.

Going to buy weights for the garage after work today. Driving to the gym works if I have one of my classes, but outside of that, uhm no.

I ran out of work at work... so it's definitely a day where I could do a lunch time work out.

Well since I claim to love working out so much... why am I still sitting here? hehe

OK, well I'm off to jog. I'll definitely post more at work today since there will be ample time to!

Still haven't weighed myself and I think I'm still avoiding it. Someone is going to have to remind me to face the truth in about a day or two. I've been pretty much "On" since Monday and it's Thursday. Don't feel any skinnier.

Ok... yeah about that run...

I definitely have to UP my workouts... I have been slacking big time! There is no way I could work out before work, I have to clock in at 6am , no thank you ma'am i am not working out that early I barely get up in time to shower

However, I did just purchase myself a HRM (heart rate monitor) that comes with a chest strap. I have wanted one of these for SO LONG... But I am always so frugal I dont want to spend the money... well today i said Screw it..this is MY TURN to do what I want to do with MY MONEY!! ( Me and my fiance have separate accounts) ... I work hard, I will buy myself things sometimes...

Now I am ready to get this thing, so I can go to the park and walk / ride my bike on those beautiful nature trails while tracking calories burned!!

I am Happy Happy Happy

lol - we have that in common! You name it I've more than likely read it! Which is why Maria surprised me. I learned some stuff I didn't know! Who'd a thunk?

I cook on the weekends too. It's so much easier to stay on plan if I plan ahead and have a menu. My youngest daughter & I are starting Maria's way Sunday. We'll be cooking on Saturday for the week. I'm getting more excited about trying this!

One thing I do notice when coming back to Atkins, I tend to pick up where I left off. You know, when you knew you could add this or that & still be okay? So, Spunki's idea do a 'clean' Atkins is a good idea...

p.s. Spunki, where did you get the little egg flipper? He made me laugh!

Snowangel you have to tell more about Maria's way and where to find the info. I am curious about it.

I had to leave work early today. Our air conditioner went out the other night. They were supposed ot come fix it yesterday while my fiance was home but of course they couldnt make it. Last night was MISERABLE!!! So i had to leave early so they could come out and take a look at it. Now there is a storm coming. At least it has cooled things down some. they are having to send an air guy since the maintenance man couldnt fix it. I hope they get it fixed. I dont know if i can handle another night without sleep.

Eating today has been crappy!! I have just been to dang tired to even care. What i would really and truly love to do right now is go ot the lake for a run while its sprinkling!! It is so nice out. But i have sit here and wait for the air guy!!
I'm so tired that im really emotional. I hate that. You know you get that 'i just dont care' feeling. I know i really do care but thats just how i feel right now. I need to probably lay here on the sofa and take a nap!!

I know i need to get out of this cruddy mood before my fiance gets home from work!!
