sugar doesnt do well with me neither!! Neither does high protein apparently LOL

This WOE is such a science sometimes...why can't it be as easy as the first time!! Seem's this 2nd go around is much more difficult!! I am 2 weeks into this, and I am noticing nothing different... granted I am on my menstural therefore, i feel bloated, and just gross... hopefully when this is over I will feel lovely again )

Good morning Ladies! (yes, where I am it is still technically morning, if only for another 10 minutes!) No running off to work for me! We are on day three of Maria's "Healthified" way & doing good. I have been doing more cooking & that's always a good thing...

Spunki, that's awesome that you know that about protein. I didn't until a few years ago. Even after all I'd read. It's my Mom's fault. She's diabetic & couldn't figure out why her numbers were high. Made me go back & do some reading! lol - Guess I really don't know it all! Just don't tell my kids! Hopefully you'll see something by Friday....

Momov2, ummm... duh? Now if you decide you wanna try that again, ask us first. That way we can remind you, it makes you feel icky & stuff! Glad your back on track! Did you get your book yet?

Shelley, have fun on your trip! If we have to throw a life preserver out, let us know..

Well, off my stool & on to making low carb bread. We'll see how that goes. Hope everyone is having an awesome Wednesday, you too Flitterly. (where are you?)

Hope everyone had a good day! My bread turned out great! So now I get to do it again! Yea me!! Tomorrow is my daughter, Alisha's birthday, but she's having a big dinner party Saturday. So guess who gets to bake the bread & cheesecake? Good thing I love her!!
Good news is it's all low carb (she says she's Paleo) so it'll make it easier to stay on track... Have you guys seen the new pasta product made with almond flour? We are trying that out..

lol - I know what you mean! I have a pink wrist model one. Like a watch. Is that what you got? Did you find out your resting heart rate? I had to quit wearing it! But, there are worse things to be addicted too!

Making more bread for the big dinner Saturday... Worse things I could be doing!!

Still no Flitterly? You started this woman! Get back here!

Oh my gosh i have wanted one of those pink ones so bad. Its the Polar one right?
I have looked at or the fitbit. I like that the fitbit is small and has different bands you can change to match your clothes!! But you have to do everything online. It doesnt show your heart rate right there in front of you. I love the pink polar one. I may have to get one.

Right now we have to really be frugal with our money!! I am gettin gmarried in Nov and we are taking a cruise right after and we have got to save some money for our excursions!!

Ok, i have to be fast so i can finish packing and getting ready for my trip but i have to share this great treat i had for dinner last night. I am pmsing and was wanting chocolate ALL DAY. I didnt get any and i was really good but when i came home i made a chocolate egg and it was perfect. It is 1 egg in a small bowl whisked with sf chocolate syrup 1T cocoa 1T almond flour and a few nuts, nuked for 1.15 minutes and ate it with some arctic zero vanilla maple ice cream. It was a perfect dinner!! Can you believe i ate that for dinner!! that is how bad i needed chocolate!! And if you havent tried Arctic Zero ice cream try to find it!! 150 calories for the whole pint!!! Made with protein.
Anyway guys have a great weekend!!!

Hello!

I'm here at work I am in a cube while my office is undergoing rennovation. I am also newer at my job so I am really trying not to post too much. But things are a little slow so I'm always wrestling in my head if I should post... argh.

Updates: I get up really early, like 4:30 am to hit the gym. HURRRY to get to the gym so I can get a good workout and go to work. Usually I am home and with a glass of wine I am crashed ouuuuut early. I should post at night though, and I will make a point of this since I think it's going to be harder to post here at work than i thought.

Negative on the family front. bleh. oh well!

I dropped like a couple pounds, but nothing major. Clothes are really tight but in really weird places. I think it's like muscle and fat and my body's shape is legitimately changing from a ton of strength training. i think I am actually "bulking up." i hate these articles that say women can't ...uh... right. I have been doing heavy intenseity training for a year so maybe that's what's up.

I love my HRM, but it's depressing and motiviating. I barely can get my HR up... I have to sprint uphill for like 3 miles to get it up.

The recipes sound awesome! A huge success for me this week was cutting down on peanuts. I am going to try to eat them once a week and see if this helps sugar tastes VERY sweet so that must mean that I am getting used to LC. though I am not doing it strict like I did week 1. I'm definitely having sugar but not as much.

Glad this thread is keeping up and that you missed me!

Missing all of you! Ok I am not as strict as I used to be but I don't want to be.

Three things I have reflected on since starting the thread:

1. We are a great group and I really like the courage we have. The theme among us is the willingness to have an open mind. Love this.

2. Some wrestling with the reality deamons. I was admittedly pissy about dealing with my body changes. It made me fear obession. But I have cut back on drinking. Thank you!

3. I'm not posting enough and I want to share more support. I will. I'm writing from my phone. It takes forever to type. But being your support sister is a goal.

Hugs and happy weekend.

Happy Sunday everyone! Yea Flit!! I agree with you! (which is why I'm here, of course!) Good decision to cut back. I've decided to do that too. I'm sure it'll help. There is a really good thread in the main lobby, titled 'well this sucks'. You might want to check it out. She's gotten some good advise & it reminded me of your struggle.
So, my weekend is pretty much over. Chrissy's days off are Friday & Saturday, so that's our weekend... I am glad the birthday days are over! Last night was it. At least until November. I think I did okay, did have some wine with dinner Thursday (and it was amazing!) but no more drinking after that. Not going to weigh, that would just mess with my head. So, we are back on the straighter path. Got the bacon cooked, and really, isn't that all that matters?
So, Spunki? Your heart still beating? We are funny, aren't we? With what we will obsess about?! Are you in ketosis yet? Or have you checked?
Momov2, things going good? I am going to make a couple of Maria's recipes today. Popovers & angel food cake. We'll see how that goes. How old are your boys?
Shelly, are you back yet? Hope it was a good trip! You are still hanging onto the wagon, right?
Well, you all have an amazing rest of your Sunday!!

Happy Monday!

Hi Everyone! Happy Monday! I don't have to go to work until 10 am because I have a 9 am doctors appt! I also took the day off of exercise and slept in. I am in a fabulous mood. Crazy good. TOM came though, so it's bittersweet... but good news! 2.5 pounds GONE. Consistently!!! It was too many peanuts. Yup. I nixed that habit. I think it will keep on dropping because I was eating like two bowls of peanuts a day for probably the last year... so let's just see how cutting it out alone helps. And I shifted my workouts back to a schedule my body loves--Mondays are OFF.

Snowangel: you are truly sweet. Thank you so much for your kind words too. You know what I don't think it sucks now, because I found the daggone culprit of the weight gain, so now I'm good! But of course it's all about damage control. Making yourself stick to the WOE, not just only for the weight loss part. Oh right, that's why were are all here!

So, it sounds like you had a nice family weekend. Love those! Hope you are back on track and life is good. Do you decorate for the autumn season? we put out stuff... I have one of those neighborhoods that goes nuts at every holiday.

Momof2... how are you? What's on your mind? Avoiding the sugar monster?

Shelly: are you back safely from your trip? How goes the Monday for you? I'm sure you had a zillion things to do once you returned from the trip.

Spunki, how is the HRM? Sobering yet, or maybe you are blessed with an awesome metabolism that rocks! I seriously hope you burn more than you thought per workout. I do not, so ... yeah... but hey, if it motivates you that is key. It motivates me to keep on trucking.

OK, I am going to be late for my doctor's appt. I got up super excited to post in here. I am SO glad to have this group!

OK... ack! gotta hurry up and get ready.

Hi All!

My boys are 8 & 10; 2nd grade & 5th.
Yes; I'm avoiding sugar, and it feels great!

Had a great, very busy, quite fun weekend.
Now that boys are back to school, I'm enjoying some time to myself!

Happy Monday !!!

Happy Monday afternoon!!
Flit, sounds like you are on the right track! Dam nuts! And, taking time off from working out. I'm impressed! Congrats on the weight loss! Moving in the right direction!!

"Thank you so much for your kind words too." Ahh, shucks, your welcome.

I do decorate a little. Use to go all out. Once the kids left, didn't seem worth it anymore. But, I love the holidays. My two oldest have birthdays in September, so that kicks off our season. (only 86 days until Christmas!) And, since I downsized again, in June, its like where do I store all of it! Because believe me, it's a challenge to NOT buy all the pretty things!

Yea, I'm glad that birthday is behind me. Tried to make good choices, and really wasn't that hard to do. Saturday was all low carb so that was good too. I like the whole family & friends thing. It's always more enjoyable to cook for a crowd. Alisha, (daughter #2) just needs to relax a little. She wants everything perfect & that's just not going to happen!

Momov2? What's going on in your world today? I cooked up three of Maria's recipes yesterday. All a hit!! Angel food cake with lemon curd, that's a snack & only a couple of carbs. Protein popovers, way yum, again just 1 carb each & very filling. Chrissy went nuts over them. Score!

Shelley, you back? Like Flit said, you must be crazy busy getting caught up. Are those your kids in your pictures? If so, you really do have your hands full! Congratulations on the up coming nuptials! How exciting! Where are you planning on cruising too? I've been on a couple & really enjoyed them. Or, maybe it was the shopping?!

Spunki? How ya' doin'? Do you need a HRM intervention? Hope you had a good weekend!

Lots of hugs & support to everyone!

Howdy ladies...

I am here My weekend sucked, my motivation has been in the gutter... I started my period 2 weeks early, the scale is NOT my friend.. yesterday & this morning I said Screw you mr Atkins and ate brownies, etc.. the downside is I have puked since 10am.. guess mr atkins got his last laugh at me!

My body is pissed off at me... no HRM work outs this weekend, i've pretty much been in a funk since Thursday.... I was hoping to hit hte gym this morning, but my belly hurt so badly I laid in bed (on my day off) until 2pm ...

Hoping to feel well enough tomorrow to hit hte gym...tonight I am going to cook the kids a quick meal, and probably head back to the couch

Good morning!!

Glad to see everyone is still here.
Fitterly, im glad you are still with us too!! I know exactly what you mean about bulking up. They say women catn but im here to say some women can i am also one of them. I have a lot of muscle in my arms and legs and back. I like it but sometimes i feel like that is why i cant lose weight. that i need to just stop lifting weights but i really like it too much. congrats on the weight loss!!
Snow im gonna have to get that cookbook and try some of those recipes!! they sound really good!!
Spunki you will get back on track. I was right there with you one day last week. i know what you are feeling and going through.

i had a great time at the conference but ate way too many carbs. i havent even gotten on the scale to see the damage and wont for a little while. i am swollen from flying and from eating. you would think as much as i was walking all day at the conference to different rooms, downtown, at the mall, all the changing buses and changing trains and just go go go that it wouldnt be too bad but that is not my luck. Not eating carbs causes carbs to really do some damage. i think people that eat them all the time dont get these water gains and everything. but breakfast and lunch were at the conference so of course, bagels, pastries, fruit, sandwiches, dessert, things like that.
there was also a warm doubletree cookie that i couldnt resist and hey might as well live it up and have haagen daas gelato at the mall!! Lordie so i did it up good and am trying to detox now. back to low carb and lots of water.

I also havent worked out in days. my flight didnt get in until 10p sunday night and then had to work yesterday so yesterday i was so tired and miserable. today i feel a little better. i will at least do one of my videos today.......maybe!!!

Good morning gals! Didn't weigh in today. I'm having a very weird period. I'm not really bleeding... but I didn't test PT. Ugh. So... yeah just kind of waiting here. Hub is cute and bought me 12 boxes of tests at the dollar tree.

Snowangel, I am really into decorating for Halloween now. I think it gives me something to do at night when my hands want to be busy shoving my face, I start rearranging the window treatments/displays for Halloween. We go through over 100 pieces of candy to the kiddos that trek through our neighborhood. We have one of those rare things where we have "the" neighborhood that everyone wants to visit because we have very holiday spirted folks here. It's fun on christmas but you don't get door visitors then so I told hub this year we are going ALL out for Halloween. But yeah, I actually downsized a TON about three years ago. Now I'm kicking myself and missing my old stuff. Oops. That's what ebay is for. 86 days until Christmas. My goodness if I'm not PT, there is all of the more reason for us gals to stick together to shave off a few pounds before the inevitable. I love me some christmas sugar cookies.

Momof2-- what is up lady? We miss you. Are you struggling? We want to know how you are really doing. Sounds like you had a lovely family weekend. Any plans for the upcoming holidays in terms of decor? Are your boys still dressing up for Halloween and planning it out?

Spunki-- so glad to see you are just being you and confessing your challenges. I have to say that if I didn't do that here, I would not be NEARLY as happy as i am right now. The therapy bills that would have climbed for me to get to this place of peace! So with my psychologist hat on, let me just say, you recognized your issues. You vented your frustrations with an outside agent that you feel like you can't control (hormones, period). And you struggled with the brownies and it struggled with you deeply. Now it's time to just find that place of inner harmony and be good to you. For the first couple of days instead of seeing it as a battle with the scale, how about just approaching a clean way of eating, and something that feels good? Stay off the scale? And i hope you get back to enjoying your HRM!

Shelly--nice to see you back! Don't worry about the water weight. Just drink more water, eat clean, and just re-center your mind. In three days, you never know, you may just get a woooooshhhh.

I'm waiting for the sun to come up so I can go for a jog. I got a new project at work that involves working at a world class resort. Awww shucks. So that's where I'm going to be for part of my morning.

Question for group: is anyone here religious or spiritual? Do we want to talk about spirituality at all? Just opening this up for discussion here.

Happy Tuesday! WE CAN DO IT

I've been there. Hormones really screw us ladies up, in so many ways.
You'll feel so much better eating healthier.
You can do it !!!

Shelley, you're getting married next month...How very exciting!!!
And, a cruise...How wonderful.
Don't focus on weight; enjoy everything about your celebration!

Snowangel, I am well, thanks for asking.
A low-key day today (which I love). Lazy AM at home & lunch with a friend at a Mexican restaurant!

Fitterly, I should get out our Fall decorations; I will!
Boys are still thinking about what they'll dress as. They still love Trick-or-Treating!

I grew up Catholic, but now am a practicing Lutheran.
DH and I teach Sunday school for 4-5 graders. It's fun!

I stay at home, but do a lot of volunteering at the boys' school, at church, and with Hospice.

Happy Tuesday!

Today was much better than yesterday, I am back on track and doing superb today!!!

Burned 657cal according to my HRM doing 70min of cardio including 3mile walk + Hip Hop Abs..

I am hoping things turn around , and staying off the scale is a mental goal of mine... Because all it does is piss me off... lol

Peanut Gallery checking in! Good Tuesday afternoon ladies!

Flit, my idea of decorating now is a new table runner and I might just have to have a pretty glass pumpkin for the table! I know what you mean about getting rid of stuff. I'm like, oh yea, I have that - oh, wait not any more. The good news is I do love to shop. And, I just got a new catalog with some really nice Christmas decorations, we'll see how I do! Maria has a cut out cookie recipe. I'm sure we'll be trying it. Maybe even for Halloween if Alisha has her party... I'll report back if we do. Ahh.. Holiday baking!
I moved into a condo here in Boise in June, so no trick or treaters for me.. It'll be interesting to see what happens downtown though...

Momov2, how fun! I wish I had enjoyed my girls more when they were growing up. If I knew then what I know now... Do you make their costumes? Sounds like you have a nice day planned...

Spunki, What Flit and momov2 said! It's a new day! Work your plan, isn't this supposed to be the way we eat from now on? Then 'stuff' happens. Can't change it, and it sounds like you needed something! Glad to hear you are up and at 'em today! The scale is evil. I am only going to weigh once a month. It just messes with my head if I don't lose like I thinking should be.. Way to burn those calories! heart rate monitor! I remember those days of school projects that have to be done by tomorrow! Hope it's at least fun.

Shelley, glad you made it back! Flying always leaves me bloated. I think it's the cabin pressure and when I travel I never seem to drink enough water. But, it sounds we are all back on track! Yea us! We all deserve a pat on the back!!

Flit? Are you talking about Maria's The Secrets to a Healthy Metabolism? Or the one mom got? She got the one for slow cooker recipes. But the other one is the one Shelley and I have talked about. A lot of good information, but you can get a lot of it off her blog too...

As for your other question, gave up organized religion (was born and raised Mormon). Some people think that means I don't believe in God, but that's not true. I guess you'd say more spiritual... I still pray and still believe in God, and think it's more about trying live the 'golden rule' every day...

I'm here & doing just fine...

My mom had a horrible reaction to an antibiotic this afternoon and I ended up pawning off my boys, with others, until DH got home, so I could be with her.

She's getting better & I'm going to bed!

More tomorrow

Morning! SnowAngel, absolutely not you! I just did my spin class (which I'm pretty sure is making me fat--ack!) yesterday. It starts at 4:30 am so I wasn't in the best place to write. I'm sooooooooooooooooooooooooooo sleepy lately. I'm not sure what's up with me to be honest but I can barely keep my eyes open now. And it's not just in the morning, it's all day long. So I guess that makes it official: time to check the thyroid. I have a HORRIBLE period too, which I guess is also a symptom. Oh my goodness you guys, my eyes are literally closing while I type. lol. I went to bed at 8:30 pm!

So I thought the extreme tiredness was from being PT and just not testing yet. nope. So now I need to get a blood test soon. The problem is that when is a good time? Bleh. I'll figure it out.

Spunki that is awesome calorie burn. You need to be consistent and stick to it. This gets results! Your workouts are awesome so keep it up!

Snow, you sound really good and happy. I'm happy for you. Did you do the table runner?

Momof2... how goes?

SHelly, still settling in after the trip?

OK guys I need coffee. I can't even type!

Whew! Thanks for checking in! (and here I was thinking the whole world did revolve around me!)

Mom, sorry to hear that about your Mom. That's scary...

Flit, you crack me up... Since when is your health not not a priority? When you find out and if it is your thyroid, you might want to check out Maria. She has some supplements that might help without having to take drugs... And, yep got the table runner! What new stuff, I don't see anything 'new'!

Spunki, Shelley? Hope things are going okay for you two...

Ladies,

Hope everyone had an awesome weekend... Mine was busy. And yes, I am complaining! Thursday, I'm cooking bacon, in the oven and the fire alarm goes off! First thing I think, is, "oh crap, did I start a fire or something?" Well, turns out it was the building. It wasn't on fire and I still don't know what happened. But, we all had to evacuate. So, I pull the bacon out, turn the oven off, get my keys and my bird and head down eight flights of stairs. Fun, fun. Firemen show up, sure enough, it was nothing.

Funny thing, several people commented on me getting the bird. Like I'd leave him behind? Not happening. So they have to 'reset' the elevators so the bird and I start back up eight flight of stairs. Nearly killed me! Really though, it makes me want to get back in better shape.

Saturday the humane society had a 'dog walk' both of the girls signed up for, so away we go. That was supposed to be a mile. Didn't seem like it. But then I was distracted by all the cute dogs! Some wearing Halloween costumes. Let's just say, I'm glad the weekend is over!

How is everyone else doing? Just an FYI, we are really liking Maria's plan. The daughter lost three pounds and I'm down five. Relatively easy too. Just have to cook. Well, and then clean the kitchen. I made her angel food cake with lemon curd, major yum. And her popovers. Chrissy I think could live on those. She loves both of them.

Have a happy Monday!

i hope everyone is doing ok.

I think i may need to try out marias plan. that is great it is working so well.

My week has been crazy busy. the government shutdown isnt hurting people from booking vacations thats for sure. it doesnt help that the other travel agent has been on vacatoin for 2 weeks and we have a brand new travel agent so i have basically been the only travel agent at a majorly busy AAA office!! i am so glad she is back today!!
hey you guys look up my travel page on facebook!! Michelle Loves Travel.
i just got the bright idea to start it so i dont have a lot of people yet. I am telling my clients about it and some of them have liked the page.

well and for some reason i am all broken out in hives!!! it started a few days ago slowly and has gotten so bad that my skin is on fire!! i am living on benadryl so that isnt helping. i have no idea what could have done it. i have been going back the past few days trying to figure if i ate something weird or have used any different products or added any vitamins or anything like that and just have no idea.
Have a great day guys!!!
