No worries, Shelly.

You'll never guess what my lunch was...

You know how sometimes life puts you in predicaments where you should just go with the flow?

Well, I was with my 92 y/o Hospice patient all day today. She insisted that I eat lunch with her. We both had: 1/2 turkey & cheese sandwich w/mayo + cheese puffs & 2 cookies.

Never would I have eaten that at home (nor would I have back when I was obsessed with carbs & cals @ 100 pounds). But, it was the right thing to do & I feel good about it!

Dinner was pepperoni stick + cheese stick + wine & popcorn w/butter.

I'm done for today!

Fluttery, I wonder what happened. You got so quiet. Hope everything is better in the morning! I would suggest water (for the head ) but you are probably all ready in bed! Working on Saturday's should be prohibited!

Momov2boys, I answered you on the other thread too, but heck, twice is better right?!
I did order her books, I just want them all & all the recipes she keeps posting! I hope you like it. If I could make a suggestion, if you like it, since you have kids, the kids one is pretty cool. While reading it I just kept thinking about my nephew. My niece feeds them sugar like crazy. And he's been diagnosed with Asbergers (sp?). It's a form of autism I guess.

Anyway, I wish I had known all this when my kids were younger. But, all I can do now is try & guide them... Have a great day!

I was wondering if that was the maria you are talking about!! I follow her blog on facebook. I havent bought any books. I would love to buy her program but its really expensive. I do need to get that book. I have so many and havent bought hers for some reason!! LOL
The Metabolic Effect book was really good too but more carbs than what i eat now. i tried eating more carbs and i got was weight gain from that. even with it being just "good" carbs!! I do miss my fruit. It is getting into apple season. I know i will have to start eating my apples again. I love all of the varieties and they are my favorite apple! I cant deprive myself of them.
Fluttery im so sorry you had a bad night. I know exactly how that can be. i hope things are better this morning.

I did not get the air fixed!! it started raining really hard yesterday afternoon and that said it was too dangerous to finish!! How frustrating!! Especially since i took off of work!! Last night wasnt as bad. We opened the balcony door in the bedroom and put the fan in front of it. The only weird thing is that i have gotten up with a weird rash!! All over my right thigh, my left hand and up my arm. I dont know if its just a heat rash or what. Teh only thing that really itches is my hand!! That is miserable.
I thought abou tnot going to work today but i have to. I have planned a lunch for today so i have to be there to go get the food. We are doing walmart rotisserie chickens, fried chicken, some starchy carbs and a big huge salad, and a fruit and veggie tray. I should be able to eat on plan pretty well. I'm sure i will get some cookies too. I have to make myself steer clear of them!!

I feel better today, not so depressed, thank goodness!! except for this weird rash!!
I'm not even motivated to workout though just because it is so stuffy in here!!

things will get back on track next week!! They have to!!

Update on today

Today seem's to be a good day for me, I am noticing that my appetite is getting a bit smaller, and the frequency of the hunger pangs are decreasing.

Today showed a 1lb loss, but I am still awaiting the nice LC Wooosh that happens

Every AM, I have my coffees with coconut oil, H&H and Splenda. Out of CO and H&H this AM, I used butter (instead of CO) for healthy fat. I don't eat breakfast and the fat keeps me satiated until lunchtime.

Congrats on the loss Spunki, that is great!!

I also make bulletproof coffee sometimes. i think i need to get back to that, maybe making egg creams too. I was reading some of the recipes in the egg/protein fast thread and those egg creams sound wonderful and very filling.
I dont see how it keeps you full until lunch. I wish they would do that too me. I can have a bulletproof coffee and be hungry an hour later. I dont do well on just fat. I'm thinking the egg cream might actually keep me satiated.

yesterdays lunch went great but i still ate too much!! and i ate a small piece of birthday cake!! then my fiance wanted to go have mexican last night so i had chips. I did have salad for my dinner but i did eat some chips with salsa and queso.
i have got to get back on track.

it is so frustrating to gain weight so fast. I havent weighed but i can tell from this week of eating a little too much sugar i have gained!! So today just tons and tons of water and very clean eating. I think i will do the egg cream thing for breakfast. Im thinking of doing the egg/protein fast for a few days to maybe shake things up. I think i can do it for a few days then i will have to have an apple!! I love apples!! I just want 1 per day. is that really too much to ask!! Really!!

Fitterly, how are you? You didnt post yesterday. i hope everything is ok!!

I have to work a half day today. yuck!! so im working 9am to 1pm then maybe the fair this afternoon. Its really nice out. I would love a turkey leg!!

have a good weekend guys!!

Morning... I kind of feel like I got hit by a truck. Ugh I think I'm getting sick. I am not good with sick.

So I weighed. ZERO loss. Ok, now I need to follow my family's orders and get the thyroid tested. I'm fairly sure it's low because I have all of the symptoms and I low carbed all week, exercised like a fiend, and I should be back to my set point weight from sooooo many years. Nope I'm still up five pounds and I frankly don't even know how these got there either. And my clothes feel fine... the only changes I've noticed are things like when I wear my heart rate monitor out running, it takes me SO much work to get it up. I'm telling you I burn 35 cals a mile hiking. And I had to run after spin class yesterday just to make it worth my time. I'm never hungry. I eat just because... and when there is wine it actually gives me a lovely appetite, and sometimes I can go too far.

My weight is really around my belly. I normally don't carry my weight here. I can't say that DH and I aren't trying... so... there is THAT...

TOM is due in three days. Part of me wants to check, but part of me wants to wait.

I can't believe I'm talking about this here, but my goodness this is the place, if any to just share feelings... right? So if I am a mom, this is TOTALLY exciting. If I'm not, YIKES so frustrating and means a series of blood tests which I know... it's time.

I had a feeling that LC alone wasn't going to work. In the past, I haven't lost much weight at all with LC and higher fat. I need a program like Scarsdale, which is seriously hardcore. It's low cal, low fat, low carb. I did it before the wedding and dropped to 16 pounds. Man that sounds so nice. I could use about 8 pounds gone and it just seems so daunting. I think the scariest part of what's going on with me right now, is that the weight just keeps going up each week. It's like hey, wrong way!

Alright... I'm going to go to the grocery store. We need light bulbs, a scale battery (just in case it's broken), and some ...tests

I'll probably buy DH breakfast and then head out for a run or a hike. Having a relaxing weekend here... this is a dramatic change from the usual. We normally have tons going on. This weekend is just a BBQ with friends and then football party tomorrow. All of my friends know I'm LCing so it makes it SO easy when they are nice friends who leave you alone and have LC options. When it's not like that, meh. But living in So Ca usually everyone is kind of LC-ish.

All of these higher fat LC things like bulletproof coffee. Wow... does it work? My metabolism seems so slow that even just a coffee for breakfast every day (and this is after running or working out hard) I only feel my tummy growl a little at 10 and then it just goes away with some water...

If anyone has tricks or tips for people who can't seem to get the scale to move I'm allllll ears.

Hi Fitterly,
Maybe you need to give yourself a break from working out for a few days to do a reset. you may be working out too much and not eating enough and that can really slow down your metabolism and cause you to totally stall out. I know that from experience. I am trying the same thing myself. I have been reading about how it is really better for your fat loss and for your metabolism to just short bursts of exercise for shorter periods and only 1 steady pace long workout per week. Doing sprints, 20 min HIIT workouts and maybe 1 long run per week are supposed to be tons better for you..

Maybe you should try it. What have you got to lose. Thats how im looking at it now. I have to try something else. Killing myself working out is definitely not working. So, i am going to eat low carb with a little higher fat and have my apples everyday too. I am tired of depriving myself of my precious apples. I love them too much.

So I'm going to be doing egg creams for breakfast, eggs and meat with an apple for lunch, yogurt for a snack and salad and protein for dinner.
I'm going to go to the lake and do sprints in the morning and maybe wed or thur morning. The other mornings I'm going to do circuit workouts. Lifting weights, running in place, jumping jacks, pushups, things like that. I have some 30 min dvd's and I'm going to do those with the sprints. We shall see what happens.

We will figure this out. We have to. I would be happy to just lose about 10 lbs. Thats all, why is it soooooo hard!!!

Where is everyone!! I know there werent many of us anyway. Did you guys have a busy weekend? I know i did!! It feels like it didnt even happen. Monday again!!

I have worked out already today. I did a Kelly Coffey Meyer DVD. She is awesome!!
Im having an egg cream for breakfast, 2 farm eggs, 1 scoop protein, 1t chia seeds, 1T gelatin, 4 oz coffee, 1 cup coconut milk
I made some cauliflower hummus, YUMMY. I'm taking some of that for a snack with baby carrots and cucumber.
Lunch is 2 eggs mashed with 1T mayo and about 4oz boneless skinless chicken thigh, 2 romaine lettuce leaves to make wraps.
snack of greek yogurt and an apple for the afternoon
dinner will be green salad with a hot link.

I will be under 1500 calories. If i eat all of this i will be 1350. Not enough. I really need more fat i think.

Made some poor choices yesterday & feel like junk today.

Oh we'll; today is a new day!

Fitterly, I can't help but wonder, too, if you're exercising too much(?)

Shelly, enjoy your apples!

Afternoon, ladies! Yep, Shelley it was busy! Mom, I hear ya. Since we were starting Sunday we went to our favorite Chinese food place. Both of us felt yucky Sunday. Sooo, we restarted today. It's been much better! Don't know why we do that to ourselves.

Fitterly, are you sick? A couple of things I was thinking about for you... You do know that if you don't eat enough & exercise like you do, your body will use your muscle for fuel, right? And, Dr. A. said, and I just re-read it in Maria's book. When you drink, your body switches out of ketosis & burns the alcohol first. Just a something to think about...

Shelley, yes it's that Maria! You might like her book "How To Have a Healthy Metabolism". It might help both you & Flitterly..

21niasara, How much you gain is pretty individualized. It'll be mostly water anyway. Instead of thinking of a bingeing (which is a good way to jump right off the wagon) how about A meal that you 'over feed' on. All legal foods, just more of them. Sometimes that does help your body say, "hey, o.k., we aren't starving after all!

Hey Everyone ... Its been a few days since I have been able to get onto this website due to crazy work and crazy home, but anyway.. I am here... now so no worries

Fitterly, I hope you feel better soon, and I think you need to tweek up your eating, and give me some of that energy for all that working out.. I need that energy... damn it send it to Delaware Please!!!!

I am pretty irritated as I have been so diligent in everything I eat, and drink, etc... I got my ketostix in my mail yesterday, and I eagerly went pee this morning, got my KetoStick ready, and did my thing...

neg..zero..zilch didnt even try to turn purple

WTH

So I am just in my pissy mood today, because of a disposable, KetoStick!

Good morning!! I'm so glad to know you guys are still here!!

I did really enjoy the apple. You know, to me it was just as heavenly and luscious as someone eating cheesecake or whatever their very favorite sweet is. It was so good. No more depriving myself of apples. Even with the apple my carbs were only 45 for the day. That is still low. Maybe i wont get into ketosis but you know i didnt lose tons of weight in ketosis and it never gave me the appetite suppression anyway so why do i care about ketosis!!!

I think i will look into getting marias book. I have so many others, why not...lol

On the binge question. It really is individual. The times i have binged it has taken me a few days to get the water weight off. My problem was always not just binging but i would purge also. Even doing that, i would have water weight gain for a couple days.

Being too low in carbs causes me to start thinking about binging and wanting to binge.
Just giving myself that little apple per day is all i need to keep the binge monster at bay. And if that is what it takes, then im having my apple.

Since i really started eating really low carb again the binge monster has been killing me. I hadnt had a binge in months, maybe a year and then i went really really low carb and have binged. So, at least i have learned that about going too low in carbs.
Hooray for the apple!!!

So i went to the lake for a run this morning and fell!!! I tell you what running is dangerous! i have fallen so many times. My poor knees are going to be jacked up for life if i keep falling like this. So a few weeks ago i fell on my right knee, today i fell on my left knee. I need to invest in some knee pads!!! lol

Breakfast today another egg cream.
snack of cauliflower hummus and cucumber if i need it.
lunch is 2 eggs mashed with half an avocado and a little mustard between 2 romaine leaves and an apple for dessert,
snack of greek yogurt with sunflower seeds
dinner will be hot link with salad

Have a great day everyone!!

Hello everyone from rainy Boise! Good day to stay inside & cook! Which I'll be doing as soon as I finish my coffee.
Momov2, how ya' doin' today? Back on track? You won't let a bad day derail you, right?
Spunki, I can so relate to that! I thought I was doing good, ate out or something, weighed the next day & of course I was up! Duh! But I used that as an excuse to stop trying. It's funny because if I hadn't weighed I would have just kept on! Besides the keto strip is probably defective!
Shelly, if an apple a day keeps you from bingeing then that's awesome. Apples are goods for you! But, about that exercise, I know what you mean! My daughter, Alisha, works out hard, & loves it! Crazy kid. But I told her it's dangerous, but she won't listen.. Even after a huge bruise on her shin from missing the box she was supposed to jump up on or dropping a 45# dumbell on her foot! I'm tellin' ya, she'll feel all that in about 10-15 years!
Glad everyone is checking in!

Hey there,,

No its not defective , unfortunally. LOL

I figured out the problem and the problem is that a friend or 2, told me that I need to UP my protein after looking at my food diary on *** , like a stupid girl I listened and I upped my protein which screwed up my fat to protein ratio, so having high protein just cause my body to turn it into glucose, blah blah blah..

So, i have to keep a high fat/low protein ratio which will mean I will cut out my protein shakes..

Onces I get my fat vs protein ration back on track, I should kick back into ketosis in a few days and my scale should start looking sexy again LOL

Glad everyone is checking in, i really like a chatty group, so lets keep it up!!!

Morning ladies!! I'm so glad you are still here!!

Hey spunki i know how that is with ketosis. Its a fine line in how much protein to fat to stay there. I have figured out no ketosis for me. It doesnt curb my appetite. God how i wish it did. I have got to enjoy my apple!! When eating a little more carbs then i have to lower my fat and of course im not in the right zone i guess for ketosis. You will get back pretty fast.

I just want to lose a few pounds!! dang it!!
and I am heading out of town this weekend for a travel seminar in Minneapolis. We are going to be going to the mall of america. I am not even going to say that im going to totally stay on track because i know i wont. Im just going to say that im going to try my hardest not to go totally overboard!! LOL

I wish it was friday!! Well, im off to workout. I think some weights this morning sounds good!!

I have stuff i need to eat up before friday too!! Im going to be eating a lot of eggs and meat.
breakfast-2 eggs, some chicken sausage and a homemade english muffin
snack of a coffee shake to get in some gelatin and maca
lunch- 2 boiled eggs mashed with mayo and jalapeno mustard, some chicken sausage cut up in it and put in lettuce leaves and a pear
snack of fage with nuts
dinner- chicken thigh with salad

Hello Ladies!!

I am here, I have been posting but I think my posts are getting lost in the shuffle LOL

Things with me are great! I am feeling much better today regarding the scale and all that jazz.

#1 I started my period, so there lies some of the weight issues
2nd I realized my protein was too high, and my body apparently turned it into glucose so that really sucked!!

I have reduced my protein .. so i "should" be on a high fat/low protein/low carb and ketosis 'should" kick back in soon...

So with my period and my protein issues.... I hope by friday I see something amazing LOL

As far as stalls, and working out... my best advice is to keep busting your ass with exercising...keep your protein low, fat % high, low carb and in time you will see the scale move!!!

I remember back when I 1st hit goal, i was in a stall for about 3 months... man i was mad!! but eventually the scale moved again.

I "HAVE TO" get back into a good work out regimine... i cant seem to 'want' to work out.. BLAH

Today I am just going to start with a squat challenge and a work out dvd at home... maybe I can jump start a new habit? LOL haha

have a great day all, i have to go to work for skills day, and I have an appt for an ultrasound for fibroids

great.... stuff huh?

Blah

I will check back in later today... Be good to yourselves today!!

Good morning Ladies!

Sugar is Crap.
I'm SO much better off without it!

I do fine having carbs occasionally...
Small amounts of pasta, rice or bread (eaten with protein & fat).
Pretzels or crackers with cheese, etc.

But sugar wreaks havoc on me mentally, physically & emotionally.

No more.

Carry on healthily ladies!

Fitterly, how are you?
