Anyway, I've been dreading Halloween a bit - last year I purposely bought extra candy, if you know what I mean! I was trying to figure out if I should allow myself a cheat and have some candy this year, but now I am telling myself NO!! This year I will make sure to buy candy that I don't like and see how that works out!
And I thought I had a good week!

I don't buy any candy for Halloween we don't get any trick-or-treaters where I live, so there's no excuse for me. I would rather eat a fat bomb, anyway. The sugar is so not worth it.

Welcome Calixte!

Not so good here....but, I will get the mojo back!

My dad once ran out of candy and gave out hot cocoa mix packets (he was a great shopper and stocked up on good deals!). It was a chilly Halloween, and the kids loved it! Was thinking, something like that would be less tempting...less likely to binge perhaps. Here, we get 0 trick or treaters these days. However.....the kids, now adults, throw a halloween party in our garage for friends and fam....tempting party foods ughh!

......Calixte.

--------------------------------------------------------------

As far as the Halloween candy, or any sweet for that matter, for some reason if the package has not been opened, I am not tempted. Now, if I know it's been opened....look out. So keeping it sealed until Halloween should work for me. I'm also going to put it in a bin and store it in the garage, 'cause my husband keep asking if he can open the bag....

Something else that has worked for me is to get Ring Pops or Push Pops (a larger type of lollipop), and little packages of Swedish Fish or Gummy Bears. (We have a BJ's near by that sells them in bulk containers.) The kids love them and I am not tempted at all.
It's always the chocolate that catches my eye.

Have a great day all!!!

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Ya know, I had been happy seeing the numbers on the scale creep down slowly...my measurements have been the same way - a half inch here, a half inch there over the past month. Seeing such a huge jump downward on the scale really had me scratching my head Now the rational part of me knows it can't stay that low, and yet I know I will kinda sad to see it bounce back up!

We do have a lot of families with young kids in our neighborhood, so we get a fair amount of trick-or-treaters. I like the idea about Ring-Pops and other sugary types rather than chocolate candy -- it is the chocolate that does me in too! And alternatives like hot cocoa mix sounds like a fabulous idea! A good way to give the kids something different, while also avoiding temptation!!

When my children (now 34 and 31) were young, a lady in the neighborhood used to put quarters in their treat bags. I don't know if kids would scoff at quarters nowadays.

Spouse and I like to go to the local auction on Friday nights. Last weekend they had a good buy on juice boxes and I said to Sam, "That would be a good trick-or-treat." Didn't buy any, though.

Have a good one!

I like the gummy candy idea...I've never liked gummy things....not sure why probably a good thing not even vodka soaked tummies

I might grab some of those playdoh mini packs just in case some kids show up....DGS can have them if not.

DH got the tractor prepped for th hay ride! we usually try to set up things along the route to spook th riders. Last year, the "kids" rigged a doll on a bike to go in circles on a porch of an empty old farm house along the route...creepy! an spooky ideas? Ride is along rural roads, farm fields, etc...

Thanks, Jayce....but..... I got so tired of looking at my real goal, that I put in a short term goal....

You know... a mental game with myself...

When 149 sticks for good I'll update my goal. I'm thinking 135-140 should be a good range for me.
I'm 5'5" and have a really thin frame. I'm sure I would be good at 125-130 too, but that's a just a dream.

Hey Kitty and Jumpstart - I'm assuming that something must have happened with that scale...maybe it got bumped out of place or something? I always try to keep it in the same place, on a nice even spot on the floor, because I know you can get goofy readings otherwise. The scale was showing 173 - 174 for several days in a row. Then after a few more days I started weighing again, and I have been weighing every day since then -- it has been staying between 183 -185. I also checked my weight on the scale at my parents' house just to make sure I'm getting an accurate reading! The weird thing is though, I measure every week and my measurements that week had also dipped down by more than usual! Kinda weird

Hey easwann - Thanks! That one oddball week not withstanding, I have been seeing slow but consistent weight loss, and it has been the same with my measurements. About 1/2 inch off my waist and hips each week. I'm not sure if it has to do with what I am eating, or if it is because I am still in the early stages of the diet. My opinion is that if you stick with it, it really does work. I usually keep it simple and have not really done any of the low carb cheesecakes, muffins, bark, etc. I usually just do eggs and turkey sausage for breakfast, and occasionally a pumpkin smoothie or avocado smoothie (but not too often). I have a salad for lunch almost every day (ranch or caesar dressing). Dinner is usually a hamburger patty with cheese and a fried egg on top, chicken with a vegetable, chicken salad (just diced chicken, mayo, mustard, celery), something along those lines. As a treat I sometimes have sugar-free jello with a little bit of whipped cream (just regular out of the can type). Not every day though. My "craziest" snack is "hot" flavored pork rinds with sour cream, though I really hate pork rinds! At work I just have a small Babybel cheese, if I really need a snack. I drink coffee only occasionally (usually a bulletproof coffee), drink diet snapple half & half (lemonade/ice tea) which is made with sucralose, water (of course!) and rarely ever have a diet soda. I also have almond milk sometimes too (for coffee or smoothie). I do sometimes have a glass of wine on Saturday night. I actually made a flaxseed minute muffin for the first time yesterday, but it made me feel kind of ill afterward. Anyway - probably more info than you wanted or needed, but glad to share any info that might help!

Calixte, thank you so much for sharing your plan with me! It is very much like like the way I eat, and how I lost my first 60 lbs. I hit a speed bump this year having surgery, discovering I have a low thyroid and a slew of new meds and gained 20 back although I have shaken 10 back off. I am just not losing like I did before and I guess I was hoping to see a magic "fix" in your plan lolol "laugh".
You are doing wonderfully and have the perfect attitude to succeed, just keep on plan and it will work for you. I know this too, and I am sure I will see a drop here soon.
I must say that the jeans I wore a month ago that almost cut me in two fit me nicely again, so even if the scale isn't moving we must look for those other indicators of weight shifting/loss.
Well, it was nice meeting you!

Calixte - Thanks for the plan details. You seem very organized and committed. For me personally, I totally agree about keeping the meals simple and repetitive. That's always how I lose consistently. You're doing great!

Kitty - Hope you're feeling better.

I re-set my goal since I've been at 149.6-ish 4 days in a row.
It's also an interim goal... I think when I get to 140, I'll think about 135.

Have a great weekend all!

I'm off to my son's Rugby game.....

Prayers for no injuries are welcomed...

No, Margaret- NOT a good way.

Our home was "vandalized" about 3 weeks ago (rock thrown through large bay window in the kitchen) and we were supposed to have our new security system installed Wednesday morning first thing. Husband and I stayed home from work. The guy showed up at 11:30 am and my husband went on to work. It took the guy until 4:30 to finish the two hour job. All that just set me off. Big expense, not on time, took forever... And then after his 5 minute spiel on how to operate everything, my brain was frazzled. We are having problems with the system already and it's going to be a week and a half before a tech can come back out.

Thursday and work meant I did Wednesday's and Thursday's work + we had two new computers installed Tuesday evening and I had to troubleshoot/reinstall software on those.

Whine-whine-whine

I need me some grandbaby time to get myself back in good shape.

Now, aren't you sorry you asked?

Janice

Have a good day, ladies! I'm happy with maintaining since I had "fair food" (including a deep-fried Snickers *gasp*) on Sunday. Looking for a loss next week, though! Good luck everyone.
