I saw the old thread was closed — and wasn’t sure if there was a new one already that I just couldn’t find. I wonder if we could negotiate a day’s grace on thread locking to give us chance to start and link to the new one?

I weighed 9st 7.6 this morning. I’m impatient to get below 9 1/2 again. But we’re just about to head out to stay in a hotel for the weekend for a family wedding, so I don’t think there’ll be a drop immediately!

My goal is to get back to 8 - 8.5 stones. I stayed there for five years after I first lost the weight, so it should be doable.

Lol! Anyway 2nd lowest weight today, still 4lbs heavier than my lowest! Just glad to not be 10lbs away!

Maryam -is it bad that I'm hoping that Eid doesn't officially start until Friday? They've announced very strange holidays here!

If Eid is announced Wed pm (ie the Moon is sighted) then we have Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat off - back to work on Sunday.
If Eid is announced Thurs pm then we have Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon off -and head back to work on Tuesday.

Total madness!!!
The second version will also mean that DH can join me on my trip to Dubai!

I’m up half a pound this week — probably something to do with eating and drinking all weekend. My weight loss app claims I’ll reach my goal in Oct 2017, but I think it’s being unduly pessimistic.

Well, weekend was hectic but nice, and so far the week has started in the same way. Lots to do at work!

I discovered courgette spaghetti, and wow, it's great! I got myself one of these special peelers that can peel really thin julienne slices.... I fried the courgette after draining in a little butter and had homemade pesto and some smoked salmon with it... It was so good! Scales did not agree and I had a 2lb gain, but I'm hoping it's gone after my DD today.

Hi Mimosa, I will be in Germany for 10 days, from Sunday. Mostly in Berlin but 3 nights in Dresden too. We are meeting up with friends (he is German) from Oz for the 1st few days.

How am I going to eat sensibly? At least for some of the time? I have only been to Germany a couple of times and all I remember is huge portions of everything. Are there any meals you can suggest? Any advice would be good.

How nice you are going to Germany! I really hope you'll have a fab time! I'm still enjoying living here!
I think food wise it depends where you eat. Definitely in Berlin there will be something for everybody. Generally, sausages are fine, they are mostly meat here in Germany, they tend to skip the nasty fillers. Again, depending where you eat portions will be fairly large. A German does not think he ate well when the portions are regular size, LOL! (I can attest to that, my BF is the same!) At the moment its Pfifferlinge season, so you'll probably find lots of dishes made with this lovely mushroom, definitely worth eating!

Doing LC in Germany is a disaster. Life revolves around bread. And they have such lovely bread too!!!!

Are you staying in a hotel? If yes, breakfast is usually a buffet with different kinds of breads and rolls, meats and cheeses and usually a selection of yoghurt, muesli, fruit and preserves. Stay away from the tea if you don't make it yourself! Generally coffee is nice and strong, just the way I like it!

Most restaurants have nice salads and good starters, and usually are not surprised if you order two starters instead of a starter and a main. If you don't want to gain horrible amounts of weight, stay away from the beer, LOL!

Germans are more and more health aware and I am seeing more healthy/lighter offerings in restaurants.

I just saw that in Berlin on the Kranzler Eck (no idea where that is, sorry) there's a Dean & David, which is a kind of healthy fast food type salad bar. You can get the most delicious salads, curries, wraps, soups and such for not much money and they don't make you gain weight at the sight of the food. We have one in the city where I work, and I go regularly to get myself a salad. Everything is made to order, and can be customised. So far, I've not had anything from them that I didn't like! You can even download the food information and menu, and they list all the carbs, proteins, fats and calories for each food. (can you tell I really love this place?)

WOw, thank you for all that. I love the sound of D & D, will certainly try to get there. And your idea of 2 starters is brilliant. I used to do that a lot but some countries don't like it. I love mushrooms so look forward to trying the Pfifferlinge.

Had a great DD yesterday after a week of just eating normally, and this morning I was a happy 126, so all is well.

Have fun in Germany, Kissa. I often have two starters if it’s a reasonably casual place — but I haven’t tried it in lots of different countries!

I was 133 this morning: 9½ stone. Next goal is to get below 9! We have friends staying for a week from next weekend, so I don’t think there’ll be a lot of progress this month.
