Hi All!

Hope everybody's weekend was nice.

I'm struggling with my back, some days are ok, some are bad. Today is ok. I'm now not taking any more painkillers, which is going fine. They were just too harsh on my intestines. And of course, the weight's not coming off, LOL!

The weekend in Holland was lovely.

My menu today:

Nothing. I'm back to fasting!

Have a good day everyone!

I'm back!

Mimosa I am so sorry you have such a nasty back problem, an infected nerves wow that sounds horrid. Glad you are mangling without the painkillers as they clearly didn't agree with you.

Congratulations on the promotion Maryam, good to be appreciated, especially after all those years when you weren't. It is great that you changed companies.

Glad the trip to Kerala was good Blotto, I was there in the eighties, such a peaceful place.

Ailuros, I am glad you saw the Horizon programme, now you know why I keep,on doing this even when I don't need to lose anything. I was really impressed by the research. Well done on a 6lb loss, as you say, that is a lot on a little person.

Jan, I really hope you get good weather when you are over. I seem to remember you did on your last visit. I love the sun.

Glad you raised a glass or six to you parents Lola, I know they'd have appreciated it, even if your liver didn't.

Good work Vicky, I hope I have as much luck losing my holiday weight!

Well, it was a wonderful trip. We loved both Berlin and Dresden and had a whale of a time with our friends for the first 4 days. We walked and walked, (I know because my new toy, the Jawbone UP keeps track of my steps ans activity levels along with my sleep patterns..love it) and saw so much. What a great country, and boy what good food and drink! So I pay the price with a six pound gain.

I am allowing myself some inflammation weigh though.

On our second day there I tripped over a small paving stone and positively flew into the air, landing with my entire weight on my left hip. It took the whole impact, no other point of contact. The bruising has to be seen to be believed. My entire thigh, from butt to below my knee at the back and groin to just above my knee at the front are black, purple, blue and yellow. And sore!

I took painkillers and Arnica, internally and externally, and think I am a very lucky woman. My bones must be in good shape for a woman of my age, everyone expected me to have broken my hip.

But it didn't spoil the holiday, I went straight on and climbed to the top of the cathedral, and taking painkillers with alcohol is my new tip...

So DD for me today.

Kissa (my autocorrect just tried to change that to Kissable!), ouch — glad you’re OK!

My previous attempts at IF were because of the health benefits I’d read about — reduced inflammation in particular. I was hoping it might help with allergies. It was just that I couldn’t quite find a workable version for me. I think getting away from the numbers let me find a version I can live with. The fact that my husband’s doing it too makes a huge difference. It would be much harder if he thought it was wacky or dangerous.

This week is completely off any plan because we have a house full of visitors, but last week I was noticing that I didn't’t really care if it was an up or down day. They felt much the same. Sometimes I had to count to work out which it was.

Hi All!

Cindy, glad you had a great time in Germany, even though you did have a nasty fall. I hope the pain is much better now and you are on the mend!

Everyone else: how are you all? We seem to be quiet this month!

Back is fine again. A little stiff in the morning, but I'm pain free!

I'm back on track with the fasting again, so hopefully next week will show some new lows in my weight!

UD today:

B: homemade yoghurt with coconut oil and almond butter
L: a salad with something fishy!
D: roast chicken and lots of nice homemade mayo

Have a good day everyone!

P.S: since we only have ladies here: for the ones still using stuff for TOM, anyone use menstrual cups? I know it's TMI, but I'm the curious sort, LOL! I just got my courage together to try again after a failed attempt to get them to work for me and now I'm in love! I really can't praise them enough!!!!!

Glad you are pain free again Mimosa, I feel fine, just a bit sore if I touch my hip, have to hang my shoulder bag on the other side.

Down to 129.8 this morning, but off to,have lunch with a crowd of lovely old mates so I know I will be sipping champagne.... Expecting the bounce tomorrow.

Morning all!

Mint, there's tons of diffrent brands to choose from, I have three different ones because I couldn't decide which was going to be best for me. They are all fine.

Enough about that. On with today: I'm fasting so not much to report here!

Weekend will be nice SIL and BIL are staying with BF's parents so it will be nice to see them! We get on really well, and they have the most adorable little baby girl! (well, not a baby anymore, she just started walking)

Otherwise no big plans, so I'll probably be doing some much needed gardening, if my back allows it. So far, so good...

Have a great weekend everyone!

See I can just pick one up at boots!

Have a cold & sore throat at the moment - making DD quite impossible - hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow!

Hopefully only 2 more weeks of the Khareef (Monsoon) - can't wait to see the sun!

Enjoy your family time Mimosa.

Sorry you are poorly Vicky, sending Mummy hugs. I wish I was coming over after the monsoon finishes, like I did 2 years ago. It was so beautiful then.

Was happy to see 129.4 this morning, even after my UD indulgences. Actually it was all really healthy food and I didn't go mad with the alcohol either.

So weight since vacation

132.2 DD
129.8 UD
129.4 DD (ish) Doing fast 5 and hoping to keep under 700

Ouch, Kissa, sorry about your fall - glad you are on the mend now.

Mim, glad the back is a little better.

Mint, get well soon. Seems so strange that you are in the middle of monsoon season when you are so close but it's so dry here!

Ailuros, hope you are having a lovely time with your visitors.

Hi Shy, Lola, Jan, Juno, Blondie!

Feeling a little better - but went out to an amazing waterfall at the weekend - it supposedly hasn't had water for over 70 years - apart from a few days 3 weeks ago! Shows how much rain we have had! Anyway eaten by 1000s of little flying insects. - have well over 50 bites - and they're very itchy!

Have prepared a soup for tomorrow's DD - need to get back on plan!

Seems my visa is through, and I'm working on quotations already! So about to get very busy! Yay!

Sorry about the bites Vicky, horible. But the photo of the waterfall is amazing. Yes, planning is wise, enjoy the soup.

Delighted that the visa is through.

Hi all!

Vicky, glad the visa is through! Sounds like you had a nice weekend, sorry about the bites! I fine ACV tends to help really well when you dab that on with a bit of cotton wool...

My weekend was nice, the weather was lovely! Spent Saturday gardening and we had BIL and SIL over for a glass of bubbly in the evening. On Sunday I noticed I'd overdone things and my back was very painful again. Thankfully everything seems to be fine again today!

I seem to be stuck at my weight, and I do suspect like Cindy said that it's due to the inflammation in my back. I've been really good with my food and my rotations of M W F fasting and I've been really good with only eating LC foods... The only thing that's different is my back and the fact that I've had to take painkillers.

Oh well, at least I'm working on my health, and I'm hoping the fasting will also help me heal my back, or at least support the healing! Definitely sticking with what I'm doing, as I feel so good!

My menu today:
Fasting, so not anything significant!

Have a good day everyone!

xx Mims

Hi Lola!
Hope you are well.

Hope everyone else is good too! It's the end of August, this month has gone by so quickly!

Hope all UKers had a lovely Bank Holiday!

Today's a good day, the water I've been retaining has gone down again, and I'm now at my stats weight again. Inflammation is still there, I'm sure, but at least things are moving in the right direction again!!!!

UD today so here's the menu:

B: 3 eggs HB, half an avocado and some cultured butter with turmeric, cayenne, salt and pepper.
L: Some kind of salad with some kind of fat and some kind of protein. Really not sure what I'll have!
D: stuffed peppers. I stuff them with ground beef, feta and cream cheese and some fresh herbs from the garden. Should be yummy!

Have a good day everyone!

xxx mims.

Good morning. Our visitors left yesterday. We had a lovely time, but ate and drank everything in sight for 8 or 9 days! This morning’s weight was 2.6 lb above my lowest (after DD), the day before they arrived, 1.6 higher than the morning they arrived (after UD).

Ailuros: Glad you had a good time with your guests, and well done on keeping your weight pretty stable!

Mint: how are you? Hope all better now!

Cindy: how are you? Are your bruises gone? Is the pain gone too? Hope so!!!

Well, my lunch has now turned out to be some goo... Goo, but tasty goo!
I made avocado, saurkraut, tuna, feta and soured cream goo... Very yummy!
And I added a glug of olive oil and a sprinkling of nori flakes for that extra little something, LOL!

That certainly sounds gooey! My DD lunch will be either chicken or smoked mackerel, depending on which calls to me when I open the fridge.

Goo indeed, but anything containing avocado has my vote.

Well done Ailuros, that is a very, very modest gain.

I have not done well since getting home, the original couple of days of losses went for a Burton over the past few days. and I am back up to 130 after a weekend of too much of everything. One of our neighbour sadly died of the Parkinsons he'd suffered for many years.

So too many get togethers involving food and drink. Still I am having a good DD today.

The bruising has almost gone thanks, just some pooling behind the knee, and most of the pain has gone too. But I do have to remember not to turn over onto that side if doing floor work at the gym, ow!

Sorry about your neighbour, Kissa. You’ll soon get back on track again!

My week off put me back over 9˝, so I have to recover that milestone before I can concentrate on getting below 9. A weekend in Paris in the middle of September won’t accelerate the process! Still, any diet that can’t cope with an occasional weekend in Paris isn’t going to make the cut.

I suppose that you can always go back to alternate days in between the breaks, rather than 5/2, if necessary.

I must admit that I enjoy only cooking alternate days. If my husband decides he wants to eat every day again, it’ll be a bit of a shock!

I was having a bad time of it, so I decided to just not worry for the rest of this month - starting back on program tomorrow. I haven't gained any weight particularly, as I've tried the oldPaul McKenna regime!

Off to meet the new US ambassador this morning - such fun in my life!
