UK/Expats July

Hi gang,

Here we are in the second half of the year. Hope I have managed to start the new thread properly!

First, big cheer for Slowsure on reaching goal. Great job!

Congrats to everyone else who is making progress with their WOEs.

Blondie - must be great to trade produce for your eggs. If ever we move to CA I want to grow my own fruit and veggies. Here in New England the deer have always eaten anything I've planted ant I've stopped fighting them!

Kissa and Mint - enjoy another week together. I'm sure Tonda is excited to see her sister!

Blotto - sounds like Dukan really suits you. And Champagne blips are the best kind of blip

Lola - how was your weekend with DD? Lucky you.

Shy - hope you're not having withdrawal symptoms from Majorca. Somewhere else I'd like to visit one day.....

Ailuros - your DH sounds to have mastered IF. He sounds like mine - very focused. He's been doing 5:2 for months, and never, ever cheats!

For me, I struggle with fasting. I did manage the juice cleanse and am happy to report that I am starting a new month back at my stats weight, so just a pound over goal. I lost 3.5lbs. It was 1000 calories a day, and although the actual juices on this cleanse weren't the tastiest, I have decided I will do my own version for a couple of days whenever my wight creeps up....I

Mimosa - so sorry about the eye problem. Let us know what the doctor says. I hope you'll be able to fly and go on the UK trip. Good luck fasting today. Can I ask how you do the water/ginger infusion - just fresh ginger in water? I may try some as I have loads of ginger and lemons left over from the cleanse!

Hope Juno finds us this month - miss her!

Have a great week/month everyone!

Jan

Thanks for starting us off, Jan!

I use fresh ginger, I slice about an inch piece into small bits and pour hot water over it. Strain after infusing about 5 minutes. I use that one bit of chopped up ginger throughout the day, and get about 3 or 4 large cups out of it. I guess adding a bit of lemon and cinnamon will give it a nice boost too!

Thanks Jan I managed to post the link before it got locked. They are being very efficient about closing monthly threads which is great, but it is nice to have a day or so to post the links.

I have decided to try going back to couch to 5k starting today. Only on the treadmill though.... Wish me luck.

Have done a body conditioning class already this morning will go this afternoon.

Hi everyone...happy July OMG...where is our Summer.

Good luck Kissa..I.ve never ever got past week 5 lol. DH uses it and seems stuck on week 6.

Jan good to see you back. Mimosa hope your feeling better. Ailuros...obviously its the plan for you two...great

Hi Blotto, Shy, Mint and anyone else reading Juno?

Off to spin. Still on Dukan but kinda just stuck at the same number at the moment. However, due to other reasons I upped my sleeping meds by 10 fold...and think they have been holding on water..so getting back down and back to normal dose within a week so maybe things might start moving then.

Off to spin see you laters.

Wow, half way through the year - scary!

Thanks for starting us off Jan. Glad the cleanse worked well for you.

Kissa, good luck with C25K. Is Mint joining you?

Lola, keep plugging with Dukan - my scales stalled too but they have finally started moving again.

Shy, lol to the pub visit! Good luck getting started today.

Mim, Ailuos, Blondie, Juno, Mint - hello!

Morning all!

Well, the 6lb gain turned out fine, I lost 5 of them already. Hopefully the rest and then some more will be gone by Friday.

My menu today:

B: 3 eggs, HB, 2 TB mayo
L: some kind of salad with some kind of protein. Can't say what yet, haven't gone out to buy it yet!
D: the sun is shining, the temperatures nice and summery so... BBQ sausages: cheese Krakauer and Spicy Sucuk.... Some kind of condiment/salad with this, probably involving saurkraut and pickles!

Have a good day everyone!!!

Thank you for the reaching goal good wishes Now to emulate Kissa and others in being a successful maintainer.

This weather. My garden was a complete heartbreak last year, I've never had such a bad gardening year but this year is little better. It seems as if the cold Winter did little to kill off pests - most of my seedlings and young plants are stripped or chewed.

Mim, 5lbs off so quickly is great!

And yay, Lola, we are kicking Dukan I'm down a total of 7.8lbs - slowly but surely.

Slowsure, good luck with maintenance - I always find that the hardest bit - hence I end up needing to diet again

Mint, are you back on JUDDD with your mum now?

Shy, have you got back on plan? Wish you could join Lola and I, but I know you would miss your cream!

I look like a kid today with a bloody knee - I rather embarrassingly fell off my bike last night!

Blotto, yes - maintenance does seem to be its own art form.

You and Lola are doing well with Dukan. One of DH's colleagues has been following Dukan since last December. Her lunch every day is Marmite stirred into FF cottage cheese with snacks of FF yoghurt. She never varies although other Dukan people in the office eat different items (including the Marmite and cottage cheese which is a combination I'd never heard of previously).

Lola, because I never learn, I not only have flowers but vegetables - and it's particularly irritating to see seedlings I have nurtured through get chomped or killed overnight (I loathe raising seedlings).

Hi All!

I'm having a good gardening year, seeing as this is my first non-balcony gardening year, LOL! Finally having a big enough garden for flowers, herbs and some veggies is a dream come true!
So far, my herbs are doing great, I've got basil, parsley, chives, mint, bay leaves, sage, rosemary, thyme, tarragon, lovage, oregano and dill. They are happy, and doing great, and it's so nice to use fresh herbs on everything!!!!

I did fail on my radishes and cucumbers, but have mustered up courage and am trying again. My strawberries are delicious, at least the ones not being eaten by birds and my red peppers are doing great...

Flower wise I do find everything is a bit late, but things are picking up now, so hopefully in a week or so it will be very colourful in the garden...

I'm fasting today, so no food till dinner...

D: homemade chicken broth, and a side salad with chicken from broth, saurkraut, lettuce, cucumber, avocado, tomato and lots of fresh herbs. Dressing is a creamy one, which I make myself as well.

All comes to 491 calories total for today.
My up day calories are supposed to be no more than 2415 and my down day calories between 483 (20% weight loss) and 604 (25% weight loss), if I use Johnson's calorie counter thingy. I've actually been keeping my non fasting calories to less than 2200 a day and my fasting calories around 500 for my one meal. So far, so good. I'm taking a monthly weight loss record, and although I do weigh every day, I'll report every month on my loss for the four weeks.

Sorry about your knee Blotto, very sore I bet.

Good work Atkins babes, Dukan queens, and JUDDDers of all varieties.

I did day one of couch to 5k this morning and Callanetics stomach work. The gym class on a Wednesday is beyond me.

May be getting an iphone 5 today.......

Slow, maybe I need to try this marmite and cottage cheese combo - has this lady been successful? I didn't even realise marmite was allowed.

All the garden talk makes me miss having one :-(

Just popping in quickly to say to Blondie!

Happy Birthday, dear Blondie, Happy Birthday to you.......!

You Dukan ladies are doing so well, as are you Mimosa and the others too, I'm sure.

Of course the cleanse loss is trying to creep back on (no real surprise there - duh!), but at least it helped get me back in a good mindset. I will get back to JUDDD when I return from California (leaving today for a week). I know JUDDD works for me when I work it!! Meanwhile off to visit DD1

Blondie - ouch to the knee. Hope you're okay and that the bike's ok too - I hear those things are expensive!

Have fun and be good while I'm gone

Blotto, she's been very successful. I don't know much about Dukan, so I've no idea if it's a 'permitted' combination or not.

Many Happy Returns of the Day, Maryam.

I hope that you enjoy the new phone and laptop, Kissa.

Well done with both your garden and adapting to well to JUDDD, Mimosa.

Jan, have a fab time in Cali.

Lola, hope you are feeling better today.

Kissa, yay to new toys! I'm getting the new Blackberry Z10 (thru work), no doubt it'll take me forever to learn how to use it!

Slow, I prefer bovril to marmite - wonder if that's allowed. I feel a google coming on.....

I'm off to another champagne brunch tomorrow, in Dubai. It's the last one before Ramadan, so I shall indulge in a glass or two - but will hit Dukan hard again on Saturday.

Have a great weekend all.

Blotto: new gadgets!!! Yay!!!!
As far as I know, a bit of Bovril or Marmite won't be an issue for Dukan. Enjoy it I say!
Have fun at your brunch and you have a good weekend too!

Mint: Hope all is well! How are you doing with JUDDD?

Juno: Hope all is well and that you're enjoying the sunny weather too!!!

Shy: How is everything and how was the pub the other evening?

Maryam: Hope you celebrated your birthday in style!!!!

Everyone else: hope all is well and that you will all check in to say hi!

Well, my weekend is starting at 5pm today! I'm off to Cologne and then Moenchengladbach tomorrow evening to see the Boss in concert again!!!! Saturday and Sunday will be spent in Cologne again, doing much the same as usual: a bit of culture, a bit of social, a bit of beer and a bit of food, all washed down with some more beer, LOL! Thankfully I'm not fasting on the weekend, LOL!

Not fasting today either, so here's the menu:

B: 3 eggs, HB and 1 TB mayo
L: going to VaPiano, will have a carpaccio there
D: off to our Stammtisch (weekly social gathering at the pup) this evening, and will probably have some dinner there... Will most likely be a double cheeseburger without the bun and a side salad.

Well, have a fab weekend everyone, with lots of fun and sunshine, see you here on Monday,

xxx Mim

Girls at the office brought a tiny cupcake with a candle in and another one sent a beautiful bouquet of pink roses. Got home and DD2 had made a lovely cake. Then DH took me to a place called Jimmys Killer Prawns for dinner. And I have to say, the prawns were AMAZING!!!!! Then we wondered the mall and he bought me a new bottle of perfume. All in all it was a lovely birthday. Now I'm off to Skype to with my Mom!!!!! Sorry no perspnals. to all of you!!!

Well done, Vicky. It's lovely to see that you and Kissa are deriving such benefit from JUDDDing together.

It's horribly sticky and close. Not that I'm making matters much better by running the dehydrator all the time (I've so far dried 10kg baby plum tomatoes, 32 red peppers and 16 green peppers this week - and I still have several cabbages to do).

I can't bake in this weather as I can't stand the oven temperature. However, I had 3kg of goat trim to use so I finally had to mince it down with some other meats and make several meatloaves and 200+ meatballs and patties: this had to be done in the wee smalls of the morning as the kitchen temperature was still over 30C at 10pm.

Lola, glad you're feeling a bit better. Need my Dukan bud fit and well!

Mim, hope you enjoyed your weekend away and the concert. yay to not fasting!

Mint, well done, your mum is such a good influence.

Blondie, your birthday sounds fab.

Slow, send me a meatloaf and some of your dehyrated veggies please, yum.

Hi everyone else. I had a lovely weekend in Dubai, a champagne brunch on Fri which thankfully hasn't done too much damage to my weight. Time to crack on with Dukan seriously now, Ramadan is the perfect time.

Happy Sunday all - enjoy the good weather those in the UK.
