Vicky, no need to ever stop JUDDDing, cos it works even when we are a bit casual about it. Keep it up my lovely girl.

Ailuros, Mimosa, glad the rotations are helping you too.

to the new royal baby. I am a total sucker for this kind of thing.

Trying on clothes for a wedding I am going to on Saturday was actually fun, everything I tried on fitted and looked okay.

Then trawled the charity shops and found a good hat for a tenner!

Thanks everyone! And congrats on all the losses! I think my body wanted the weight to go! It hadn't been there long, so hadn't settled!

Course today is an UD, and as I'm having a pack of peanut m&m's right now, don't expect to maintain the number! But it will be back!

Congrats on the hat!

Congrats too to Mimosa...great loss and sounds like you getting the measure of JUDDD.

Another hot day and loving it..even though had to work but its so nice to wear summer dresses instead of UGG boots. Good one with the hat Kissa...

Hi everyone!

Quick check in from me today... It's still very hot and sunny and I'm enjoying the weather as much as I can!

UD for me today. This morning I weighed and gained nothing even though TOM is here. Usually I gain, and now I'm holding at my low weight!!!!! This is some good stuff!

My menu today:

B: yoghurt 10% fat, spoonful of mascarpone.
L: small green salad with tuna, feta and avocado and oil dressing
D: a couple of sausages from the BBQ, mini peppers stuffed with cream cheese, tomatoes from the garden and homemade herb and garlic mayo.

Have a good day everyone!

Mimosa...Dukan is fine...but I think its cos you are on a diet everyday ...whereas with JUDDD you are only on a diet for 3 days a week....just toying with the idea. I did before but honestly found that I just see sawed back and forwards..so don't know for certain yet...but I did like the DD after a particularly heavy weekend day. So watch this space. lol

Ah, yes, I see now!
For me, when I'm doing an UD, I have to stick to a diet as well, unfortunately... But I've found something that's really working for me, and something I can live with, which is most important.

TOM is here, scales aren't showing a dramatic rise even after BBQ and a glass or two (hic...) too many of some excellent white wine...

DD today, I'm glad actually! This weekend looks promising weather-wise, maybe a little thunderstorm in between, but it will make it less humid than it is at the moment.
We've got one of my assistants from work coming over for a BBQ (she's not working at the moment due to medical issues) on Saturday, and on Sunday I'm planning for a lazy day in the garden... With some nice food in between all that, LOL! I'm really loving my UD weekends (UW?), it really helps keep me on track for the rest of the week!

Anyway, not sure if I'll check in, so I hope you all have a lovely weekend,

xxx Mims

My week wasn’t a great one for weight loss, because a friend I don’t see often was in the area, so there were quite a lot of meals out. Back on the straight and narrow today! I bought some nice juicy fresh prawns at the farmers market this morning, so it’s not looking like too much of a hardship .

Such relief, rain and thunderstorms again - and, as it's gone 8pm, it hasn't disrupted today's kayaking expedition

Preparing lunch to take to MiL's tomorrow. Main is a Nuns' Salad. (It's a black and white salad: chicken breast, new potatoes, white of spring onions, black olive, black grapes, dressed in a mayonnaise that I made.) Chicken has nearly finished roasting.

I was going to make a watermelon dessert but DH left the puree I'd made out of the fridge and it's accidentally fermented so that won't work. I've made a red grapefruit sorbet to be served with raspberries and some vanilla meringues that I've just put in the dehydrator. I think we'll also have some of the creme fraiche that I fermented as that will be a good contrast.

Still haven't eaten tonight so it may be some of the dark meat from the chicken (only the white goes in the salad). I should bake a loaf for tomorrow but I can't bear the oven being on any longer.

Thanks for that link Slowsure - interesting reading. My problem is definitely that I use food as a reward - my whole life is planned around food.

Lola, any more thoughts of juddd?

This is slightly weird. my weight is down 4 lbs in the 11 days since I started the alternate day stuff. I haven’t seen a change that fast in years!

In a way, it's targeted at people who have food as part of their social/reward systems. Part of me rebels at the notion that people should look to reduce food to something functional rather than an integral part of their lives but I can understand for some of the women there, they're willing to follow that programme to learn about their appetites, why they eat, and just to shed some of their stubborn weight.

I suppose it's like a rather more caloric, flexible, non-shake version of Lighter Life or the programmes that remove food from people's lives while re-establishing their relationship to food and then reintroducing it.

I don’t really mind how fast it happens – I mean, I want to be slim straight away, of course, but as long as it’s heading in the right direction, speed isn’t really that important. Low carb worked well for weight loss, I just couldn’t get my mind round doing it strictly again. The most important thing was to find something that I can actually live with in the long term, since eating whatever I want isn’t going to work!

I lost weight with LC and kept it off for five years, so maybe I need to give this a bit longer before I decide “this is it”!

JUDDD is more of a schedule for eating (Johnson Up Day, Down Day Diet). It's calorie cycling so on alternate days you eat a restricted number of calories and the other days, you eat your 'standard' amount (there is a calculator to give guideline figures).

You can read about JUDDD on the board here that has lots of helpful stickies at the top: JUDDD - Low Carb Friends And there are and monthly threads for people who want to make enquiries or ask questions.

Most JUDDDers like the additional health benefits that accompany the genetic changes that are triggered, even by modified fasting. Others like the way it simplifies their food intake over the course of a week.

Do come over and take a look.

ETA: Because it's a schedule, JUDDD can be combined with a fair number of other WOE such as LC, VLC, ketogenic etc. as long as calorie cycling is compatible with that WOE.

Thanks for the heads up on JUDD guessing it's like 5:2 / 16:8 Intermittent fasting then great health benefits involved. I must admit when I'm working I don't eat for 16 hours, so go by the principle of 16:8 on those days. I am working mornings most of this week (only thursday off) so that'll keep me on track.

Thanks also for the welcome.

Hi Love2Lift, funny, I am originally from South Wales but left when I was 3. Except for my immediate family most of my relatives are still in or around Pontypridd.

Had such a lovely time at the wedding, and our hotel was nice too. Had too many indulgences but hey, that is what weekends like this are for! Will attempt to post a photo...

haha my Uni is at Pontypridd! I travel there 4 days a week term time (I'm a mature student going into my final year of a psychology degree).

It's a lovely part of the world, I'm up about another 50 miles toward the SW on the coast.

Glad you enjoyed the wedding and food too. Life is too short sometimes not to. You've done brilliantly with your weight loss - I can't imagine what 124lbs would look like on me but you look great.

Love2lift!

Kissa, you look fab in your wedding outfit - v.glam!

Slow, I definitely rebel at the idea of removing the fun from food. I think that's why I'm struggling so much at the moment, I don't want to give anything up, or restrict how much I eat - there's no hope for me!

Ailuros, great that you're seeing success.

Hi all!

Well, the weekend was eventful. We had another horrible thunderstorm and hailstones the size of tennisballs rained down. Roof of the house is damaged, we need to get 8 tiles replaced ASAP. With occasional heavy rain this will cause awful leaks! My car is dented and a rear light broke. In our area there were trees uprooted from tornado like winds, lots of damage from the hail and flooding because of the rain. It only lasted 40 minutes!

Saturday evening was lovely and summery again!

Nothing much else to report, I was good and stuck to LCHF on my UD weekend. I did have quite a bit of wine on Saturday, LOL!

Today is a DD so no menu to report!

xx

Hi Love2lift.

There are several of us on here who love gym and weight training.

Sorry I am whizzing by so no personals...Kissa you look fab as always in your wedding outfit. Blotto/Mimosa...I think I am going to try JUDDing again but like Mimosa keep my UD's in more moderation.

Off to spinning now...hasta la vista amigas..xx

Lola, I’m not looking at the JUDDD calculations. Last time I checked it told me I could have something like 1600 on an up day!
