Cinema night - could be anything from Despicable Me 2 to Now You See Me depending on train times.

I dried some celeriac yesterday so our cinema snacks will include dehydrated kale, peas and celeriac with semi-dried tomatoes and a glucomannan shake. The glamour.

Hope all is well, wherever you are.

Ailuros, that sounds to me like a great idea. I often don't count on my DDs when I know I am eating sensibly.

Mimosa, I am thrilled you didn't gain after your fun weekend. Our bodies are remarkably forgiving on the Alternate Day Diet.... At least for me it is.

Vicky, so delighted that you are seeing a downward movement on the scales again. Feeling cool is definitely a good sign.

And yes, lotto, I do miss her. It gets easier though.

I am having a great DD. Nothing to eat so far, just water and black iced coffee. I have been through all my shoes...quite a task, ask Vicky, and got rid of loads. THen I attacked my makeup and general cosmetics, another mammoth task, and feel very virtuous now.

Just beginning to feel peckish and it is 5.40. Nice salad planned.

I’ve now reached the, “I’ve been doing this for three days, surely I should have lost some weight by now!” stage.

Time to see what I can rustle up for tea.

Good plan Ailuros - hope the scales are showing a little movement.

Kissa, I'm planning a big clear out in the next few weeks too - I'm going to tackle my clothes first.

Slow, I chuckled at your cinema snacks - a far cry from popcorn, lol!

I swam with sea lice this morning, so I'm tingling all over - urgh.

Thanks Blotto. I did see a lower number than I’ve seen for months this morning — and that moves my BMI back into the “normal” band.

Sea lice?!? That doesn’t sound good!

Blotto, if commercialised, I have a feeling that this range of cinema snacks would be the slowest-selling lines in history. There's little mindless snacking with this range and it can take a surprisingly long time to chew through a bit of kale or celeriac. And, as for the gloop of the shake...

Ailuros, much as I have reservations about the use of BMI for individuals - it is such a milestone and relief to move into the 'normal' band, isn't it.

I think I'm near Regents Park tomorrow. DH and I have taken the day off. We're having a body fat evaluation at 9am (the couple that Bod Pods together...) at the Uni of Westminster which is quite near Regents (that department, anyway) so we'll go for a walk there afterwards. Not too sure what we'll do in the morning but in the afternoon we're going to Little Venice (possibly the puppet theatre) and we're booked into Zoo Lates in the evening.

SlowSure, I’ve seen lots of examples of BMI being misleading, but I just happen to fit it quite well. The normal/overweight boundary is about when I start to feel not just that I’m bigger and squidgier than I want to be, but also that I start to get out of breath more easily climbing hills &c. The normal/underweight boundary is about where I think I’m getting too thin and bony. And, as you say, it’s nice to see the indicator turn green!

Hi Cindy, I know just how you feel! When we moved house I got rid of tons of things that were either unuseable or not used for a long time, and I felt just like you, LOL! Sounds like a good DD today!

I got like that, lost a bit at the beginning, but then weeks with just bouncing around. Now I'm losing after every DD, and only gaining maybe a lb or so on a good UD, which is then gone with some friends after my DD... Not sure how long it will last, but I'm glad I've stuck with it for 5 weeks now, it pays off!

Yuk, Blotto! Hate them! I used to have this when I still lived in Barcelona and used to go swimming in the sea there. If I didn't wash straight after swimming it would be horrible! Fresh water did seem to reduce the tinglyness of the lice... Hope it doesn't last all day!

LOLOLOL Slowsure, I can almost see you at the cinema eating your snacks, LOL! They do sound good to me though!
What film did you end up seeing?
Let us know how it goes with the Body Pods!

Vicky, sounds like your DD and UD are all going well! I hear you on the cooler feeling, I sleep with a duvet and BF is boiling at the moment! He just doesn't understand why I'm not as hot as he is!

Lola, Juno, Shy, Jan, Renee and everybody else: Hope all is well!

Today is another UD, lost a total of 8.9lbs after a great DD yesterday!
I'm eating LCHF today and here's my menu:

B: bulletproof coffee, and some chicharrones (like pork puffs) to have a little crispiness in the day
L: leftover stuffed pepper and some cheese
D: pork chops with homemade garlic and herb (from the garden) butter, chopped spinach sauteed in olive oil.

Have a great day everyone!

Another glorious day, I don't want this to end.

Surprised to see the scale up instead of down this morning, will blame water retention and inflammation. My muscles are letting me know that I've upped my exercise routine.

Off to a 12.15 conditioning class today.

Have a great day in London Slow. Hope the Bod Pod is interesting.

Sorry about the lice Blotto, not something I've experienced, nor wish to.

Nice work Ailuros and Mimosa, love seeing the reward of our work.

Hi all,

Sorry to have been MIA recently. I have enjoyed catching up on everyone's posts just now. Sounds like everyone is doing well.

I had a nice visit to CA, though we flew home early for our ailing dog. It was sad to say goodbye to her. We actually got our new puppy a few days later (wasn't planned to happen like that) - so it's been an emotional time.

Food wise, not too bad. Like those in Europe, we've been having a heatwave. Salads and shakes are much more appealing when it's hot and humid! I had an annual physical yesterday, and for once didn't cringe when the nurse shouted out my weight. The doc did see a suspicious lesion on my chest though - having that checked out tomorrow.....

Sorry no personals this time.

Best to everyone.

Jan

Wow. First week of Ramadan is gone already! Super busy at work, mostly because the workload is the same but the working hours are less during Ramadan!

Blotto - sea lice???? YUCK!!!!!!!

Kissa - Yes DS1 and his wife are going to make me a grandma in February, insha'allah! They arrive September 1!!!!

Jan - so sorry about your dog. for good news on the lesion

Mimosa - on the loss!!!

SlowSure - ITA. I don't those snacks would sell well! I just choose to not eat at the cinema. Just a bottle of water for me!

Ailuros - glad you are back in the normal range. Although normal is a relative term in this group!!!!

Mint - Mabrouk on the loss. Thanks. How is Salalah?

Lola - I drink about a liter of water before we start our fast in the morning and then drink a couple more between breaking my fast and sleeping time. Of course, there is a couple hours of naptime during the day, too!

Oh dear Jan, I am so very about your loss. Our animals a totally a part of our lives. Having the new pup will help, but the grieving process is hard. Sending you special hugs. I hope the lesion turns out to be nothing, and yay on the weight!

Maryam, I know how tough Ramadan is in July. Respect lady.

Feeling very positive about my weight and exercise just now. Maybe this glorious weather has me on a high.

Jan, I am so sorry to hear about the loss of your dog! Sending lots of hugs to you, and good thoughts that the lesion is nothing bad. xxx

Maryam, good to see you here! Like Cindy said, well done you!

Cindy, I'm with you on the weight and exercise and feeling positive, I'm sure the sunshine has an influence!

Well, I'm off this weekend to Holland, so the usual silence from me. Going to help out at my parents' house, since my mother had a foot operation and is not very mobile, and my old nanny and her husband are visiting! Really looking forward to that!

Today is a DD, so no menu to report.

My mother was recently diagnosed with type II diabetes, so it's even more a motivation for me to get healthy and get the weight off once and for all. I hope that my mother now will see the light and will start LC in all seriousness... Maybe I'll buy her the Bernstein book...

Jan, sorry to hear about your dog! And I hope the lesion turns out to be nothing significant.

Maryam, hope Ramadan is going well. It must be particularly hard not to be able to drink during the day when it falls in the hot months.

Have a good time in Holland, Mimosa. I have a Dutch friend coming over here for a few days next week.

My brain can’t keep track more information than that! I hope everyone else is doing well!

My alternating thing seems to be working. It’s probably working out to be very much the same as JUDDD. On the down days I’m eating low carb and not going wild with the fat. On the up days, whatever I want, but not silly amounts. It feels quite easy and relaxed so far.

It’s still early days, but after a week (four down days) I’m down 2.8 lbs, and they’ve been new lows, not just within the range of daily fluctuations. There are a few visitors and social occasions over the next month. I’m not sure yet how I’ll handle those.

Morning all!

doing a quick pop by.... Ailuros, well done on the weightloss!

My weekend was nice, lots of sunshine and very warm, but absolutely lovely! (I like the heat)

Back to normal today, working whilst outside life in the sun is happening...

I'm glad the weekend went well, stuck with LCHF and did not gain after two UD! Today is a fasting day, so no menu to report!

Have a great start to the week everyone,

xxx Mims

Hottest day so far, but thunder storm and rain this morning.

I don't want this heat to end.

I expect that the Duchess of Cambridge is wishing it was cooler, though I imagine she and the new heir are in air conditioning.

Excited to post a major whoosh! 5lbs! Gone!

Love JUDDD!

Nearly 25lbs in 6 weeks - and 3 of those weeks on holidays!

Hope everyone is enjoying the sun! I have rain, drizzle & grey skies!

Mint!!!!!!!! That is fabulous, congrats on the whoosh!!!!!!
I can't report that much loss in the same amount of time, you must be so chuffed!

I woke up to a 1.1lb loss, totalling my loss at 10lbs for my 5.5 week update. Most of it lost in the last 2.5 weeks, when I really started to be stricter and really paying attention to 24 hour fasts, eating LCHF and stopping when not hungry anymore. It's working! I had a lightbulb moment this weekend when I was eating and realised I didn't want to finish what was on my plate.

For the rest, nothing much from me apart from:

New Royal Baby!!!

My menu for today:

B: bulletproof coffee, small can of tuna in olive oil, slice of cheese
L: Caesar's salad with grilled feta cheese, hold the croutons
D: something from the BBQ and homegrown peppers and tomatoes!

Have a great day everyone!

That’s excellent, Mint!

Mimosa 10 lbs in 5.5 weeks isn’t shabby either, but it does sound as if you need to pay attention to all the details to do it.

I’m at 2.8 lbs for 8 days. A promising start, particularly for a cobbled together kind of plan.
