Was going to go to the pool today. Yeah that didn't happen.

Instead I took a load to the dump, had a blood test done, and built a wood shed. Instead of just making excuses up, I'm just filling my days up with tons of stuff to do. Yesterday I spent the better part of the day raking leaves, and taking the SMR out for a ride. I'm pretty sure everyone should own one of these bikes. Alas is wasn't meant to be, and its already up for sale.

Eating has been on plan, albeit a bit high on the dairy intake. For some reason I still cant shake the 260's. Ugh.

NQSBD,

My address is actually in Georgetown, but my kids attend the Liberty Hill school. Georgetown proper is probably 20 minutes from us. We are on Ronald Reagan Blvd (Parmer Lane) right before you hit highway 29 in a subdivision called Rancho Siena. We are 20 minutes from Georgetown, 3 or 4 minutes from Liberty Hill, and 10 minutes from Cedar Park.

I'm having a lot of buyer's remorse right now. We moved from the swamps of Louisiana where there was hardly anything to do and everything occurred indoors, so we came to Austin with that mindset. Here, no one spends time indoors. It's all about canoeing, biking, kayaking, running, and etc. We built a house thinking we'd be spending all of our time indoors (movie room, game room, etc.)

Also, my wife has been obese all of her life, and she's losing a ton of weight. It appears that she's going to have a lot of loose skin when she hits her goal, and although she won't "need" plastic surgery, she already thinks she's going to want it. That takes lots of cash, so I am actually contemplating selling in a year and using the equity. I know, it's a crazy irrational thought, and it isn't necessarily responsible, but why reach your weight loss goals and still feel bad about it?

CTIgrad,

Sounds like CALORIES were being burned regardless. You took a load to the dump, built a wood shed, raked leaves.....

That's good stuff. It's all better than what I do almost every day of the week (sit for 8 hours).

I hear ya man. Thats what I do when I'm at work. At least we have a basement gym that we can use on break. I got in 13 miles tonight on a stationary bike during one break tonight.

Last Week: 207
This Week: 206

I had some type of stomach virus yesterday, so the 206 isn't likely to stick, but I'll try to be optimistic.

Shiner,

Wish I was up for a challenge....Thanksgiving is looming next Thursday, and the thought of my binge eating (which I usually do on that day) depresses me. I definitely feel that social events are the toughest challenge for me in dieting.

CTIgrad,

I sit all day long but have been toying with the idea of purchasing a treadmill desk for some time now. I could eat whatever I wanted in college when I played racquetball for 4 hours and worked a night job stocking at the local grocery

My wife wanted me to go with her to lunch to meet a friend. It was a Japanese restaurant. I brought my food scale with me and I paid $12.00 for 2 oz of raw fish (all of 45 calories).

We had the itch to go to a restaurant on Saturday night, and I got nutrition and calorie information off the restaurant's website before we went. I had everything perfectly planned out. When we arrived at the restaurant, the person taking our order informed us that they no longer served the dish I had planned for.

I had a backup plan, but it wasn't what I wanted to eat, and it depressed me.

The low carb way of not having to think about things or measure is definitely a much easier lifestyle.

Not to be anti-motivational, but outside of working around the house, and 12 oz curls(I drink a lot of light beer), I haven't done a great deal of exercise. I did, however, eat on plan for well over a year. That's the key thing for me. I could stand to build some muscle, so I may look into weights sometime in the future.

11/13/13: 170.6 lbs
11/18/13: 164.8 lbs <---I don't think this pace will last long.

ETA: Nice avatar BTW, Bubbles is awesome.

I could definitely use one of these. We just booked our belated honeymoon for February and its quickly coming up.

I'm still bouncing in this mid 260 range and cant seem to bust out of it. Ugh.

I need a challenge. What do you propose, Ken?

Bulk - I have the same problems with eating out. I usually plan in advance, get something good and then am in a bad mood because everyone else food looks better than mine.

Finally made it to the pool today, 1600yds in 46 min. Not bad for being four months outta the game. Started to lay out a 20 week training plan to get me ready for an Olympic Distance Triathlon in April. We'll see how that goes.

im not sure with the challenge, throw some ideas out there everyone, like obviously the eating LC, but maybe an exercise challenge, like 5 days a week + if possible,

i know i need some motivation, im going away friday for a week, but when away i spend the day swimming, playing tennis, and i even workout in the weight room

so how about the clean eating, daily exercise challenge? (5 days a week minimum) ?

lemme know i am gonna start soon since im on 8 hr shifts this week its a great time to do it

Moved into the new home this weekend and got plenty of unwanted exercise in rainy freezing weather. Eating sucked, as we couldn't cook, so I just winged it. Surprisingly, as bad as I ate, my weight didn't go up at all, perhaps due to all of the exercise I was getting by carrying our heavy furniture to the second floor of our new home.

I'm back on plan as of today, though, and it feels good.

Yep, BigD, social eating and drinking is my biggest enemy, along with being 42 and working a sedentary job.

Shiner/CTIgrad,

I always like the daily exercise challenges, as this seems to be one of the most difficult things for me to stick to.

I'm game for it starting on the 2nd, or at least after thanksgiving. The next couple days aren't diet conducive at all for me. Thats also when I'll be startin crossfit and my 20 week tri plan.

Speaking of which, LC just isn't working for me. For some reason I just cant get my head in the game and stick with it. Cross fit is a big promoter of Paleo, which as I understand it is similar to LC. This would make transiting simple per se, but I dunno. The lack of coffee scares me. Ideas?

Essentially nothing lost or gained last week. I ate a few things off plan. I'm going to be more careful, and maybe acquire some ketone test strips.

awesome, finally exercised for 2 days in a row, almost talked myslef out of it cause i worked my second job the last 2 days, i find thats my biggest obstacle lately - ive been working at my old job part time to help them out since last January, and by the time i get home im pooped,

been taking off about 1 day every 2 weeks

but i feel great now, very motivated, the scale is also starting to move downward from my trip , i think i was plugged up for the last week, which means my weigh in the other day is slightly inflated, but that will motivate me more i think

where is everyone??

Week one of Paleo is in the books.

12/1: 277
12/9: 270.4

I wont total up my millage for last week, but I made it to all nine of my workouts (3 cross fit sessions, 2 pool swims, 2 runs, and 2 bike rides). Today is an off day for me, and I hit it again tomorrow with a pool swim and a crossfit class later in the night. Its the two a days that kill me.

CTI,

I lost from 230 down to a skinny 180 doing the Primal Blueprint. It's a variation of paleo. From my understanding, paleo tries to stick to mostly lean meats and allows beans. The Primal Blueprint allows fatty meats, but they should be from good sources, like grass fed beef, free range chickens, etc.

To be honest, I never did the grass fed thing, because it was too expensive and too hard to obtain for me. Whole Foods was the only store in my area that sold it, and it was 45 minutes away from the house.

You're correct, that paleo and crossfit seem to be married. A lot of the people add in intermittent fasting also. But, definitely keep doing exactly what you're doing. You lost 7 pounds in a week, and that's awesome.

You might want to check out the Primal Blueprint. If you decide to, just do a Google search and you'll find the main website that has tons of information regarding it. It also has before and after pictures of a lot of the people on it which motivated me at the time, although I never looked like any of those people in the end.

Regarding myself, I didn't make it through Thanksgiving cleanly, although I'm only 2 pounds up, which is shockingly low, considering how sick I ate myself.

I'm back on track with eating and exercise. My local gym offers free Crossfit like classes on Monday/Wednesday/Friday, and I'm starting those tomorrow. Hopefully doing cardio with other people will help motivate me.

Hey boys. I'm treading water right now, which for this time of year is pretty good. Eating is crap, but I'm still getting in my morning jogs.

I'm ready for the new year. I can't seem to really get focused with so many excuses to eat badly. 2014 will be the year I get back under 200. It's been a few years.

Hey y'all. It's been a long time. For most of this year, I lived next to an all-night mini-mart. It was so easy to run over there and score some junk. My weight got up to 198. A couple of months ago, I moved to an apartment that is six blocks from the nearest food-selling location, and I've lost ten pounds without trying. Still 50 pounds more than I weighed this time last year. Plenty of work to re-do.

Well Paleo is going so so with the poundage loss. I'm stuck at 270 give or take. I didn't really expect to lose a whole lot this first month as your body is just trying to adapt to the insane amount of exercise being laid on you.

Even made it to some crossfit workouts during/around christmas (one even on christmas eve!) Ok I'm outta here, gotta head to work.
