Haven't checked in for a couple of weeks but am hanging right at 214. Can't seem to get below that.

Congrats CTIgrad on the wedding and take care of your health. I work for the government as well and have been on and off furlough for the last couple of months - just like you am working on government IOU's right now.

Have a great Columbus Day!

Still jogging, but still not eating really well. Naturally, my weight loss has stagnated. I just keep fluctuating between 215-220. I really need to get it in gear as the holiday silly season is fast approaching.

Shiner- Ouch man I'd be pretty P/Od if that were to happen to my boat. But the good news is that this opens the door to off season upgrades!!! It definitely seems like you need a GPS controlled kicker motor... I'm just sayin....

Glenn- I hear ya. Our union just had us hand write letters to congress and fax them to our national office in DC for some added punch in their lobbying. Regardless it seems we're headed over the cliff at this point in time.

And I forgot to check in yesterday. Was kind of busy day.

09/30/2013: 265.8
10/7/2013: 264
10/14/2013: 262.6

-1.4

Still moving down, albeit slowly.

In a touch of irony, we're having trouble buying pants for my boys. They're both so skinny that even the slim jeans have to be cinched up to stay on. To get them to fit in the waist, they're about 3 inches too short and look ridiculous. I was well on my way to fat by the time I was their age, so I guess this is a good problem!

Glenn & CTI - get back to work!

LOL thanks. Was already working, just wasn't being paid for it. Apparently we're considered safety critical and cant be furloughed. With that said, I'm glad to 800,000 other federal employees are headed back to work today yet still pretty POd that we get to deal with this AGAIN in 89 days.

On the diet/foot front; things are going well as they can. I see an internal medicine specialist today about my clot/foot/trying to run again so we shall see what happens.

My Mom had the same problem with me - eighth grade and 6'4" with 28" waist and 34" length - doctor said not to worry he'll catch up - truer words were never spoken

Again starting the week at 214 - just cant seem to lose the 14 pounds to reach goal - maybe if I tried harder and threw some exercise in there as well like shiNer45 is thinking

...and same as CTI - went back to work on a government IOU

Have a great week guys!

Good morning, boys. Still clicking on my jogging and have now gone 3 whole days on strict induction. It's been a while since I've been able to do the 2 week induction thing.

Day 6 down and still going strong. It's pathetic that I feel the need to count days on plan, but with the trouble I've had staying on plan for more than 3 days, it needs to be done. Success or shame!

Jogging was a struggle this morning. My knee started aching a little after .5 mile, so I just walked the remaining time I had. Saturday and Sunday are scheduled off days from jogging, so hopefully a couple of days without the pounding will help whatever is ailing.

10/28 - 217.6

As you can see from my profile that's 6 pounds up from my year low. This induction (9 days strong!) has dropped 4 pounds, so I've got a ways to go still. Morning jog was good today. No pain in the knees.

Thought I would check in. I'm down from 217 a month ago to 209 as of this morning. I have decided to take a big step and have gynecomastia surgery. No matter how much weight I lose, I can't seem to get the look that I want. I've had this since puberty, and it's not going away with diet and exercise alone.

Although the doctor said that I didn't need to lose any weight beforehand, I am trying to drop my body fat percentage before having the surgery, because I have read that it helps with the results.

My plan is to be down 20 pounds (and hopefully 10% body fat less) by April of next year.

I'd love to hit my target sooner than that, of course, but pure fat loss is difficult to come by.

My diet currently is calorie counting, lean meats, high fiber carbs, and healthy fats.

I'm taking in around 2100 calories per day (10 x my body weight). I'm trying to get in 3 weight training sessions per week, but I haven't disciplined myself to get all 3 yet. I'm also trying to get in some daily activity or cardio.

Congrats, CTIGrad! I can really see the changes you've made.

check in

been doing well here, down some lbs but stalled for the past week or 2, ive sort of left the induction phase, but have brought back some exercise this last week.

still working 7 days a week, so motivation for exercise is tough right now, with this new T25 routine thouhg, its pretty quick and im sweating like a pig after

good to see some guys back, and this group going again

tonite the wife is making pasta, i may partake in that, but within reason and then back on it again tomorrow, with halloween its unlikely i will even have time to exercise tomorrow, but not ruling it out

Good morning men. Still on track and preparing for the Halloween onslaught. I'm not a big candy guy, so it shouldn't be too tough. We're going to a neighborhood, and I'm bringing some tasty low carb munchies.

CB - good to hear from you. good luck with your surgery. Check in more often!

Ken - what is T25?

Hey Shiner/Ken,

I can't say that I 'did' Insanity today, but I started Insanity today. I got through the first 20 minutes or so. The toughest part for me is getting my body to move that quickly in any direction, but I plan on sticking with it. I just can't motivate myself to walk on a treadmill for an hour.

I have no doubt that I'll see results with this. I've been done for an hour, and I'm still sweating and breathing harder than normal. I was a little bit discouraged from my inability to finish, but I plan on sticking with it.

NQSBD,

I'm glad to be back, and I'm going to check in more often. I'll definitely post my pre-op and post-op photos. I got highly discouraged after losing 50 pounds and not seeing my moobs go away. They actually got worse.

We relocated to Austin on June 1st, and we're loving it! I've got the best doctor in Austin doing my surgery. I could do it now, but I'm so overweight, and it's costing me so much, that I think I need to be sure of the results.

We hired a really good personal trainer for my wife also. She lost 17 pounds the first 2 months, and she's at a lower weight and body fat percentage than she's ever been in her life. The trainer is so impressed with her results that he's invited her this Sunday to a photo shoot.

I can't complain.

Now, I just need to navigate these tricky holiday season waters....

Survived Halloween with candy count of 0. Of course, there's now about 20 pounds of candy laying around the house, so each day will be it's own challenge.

Bulk - good to hear about the move to Austin. I loved my 7 years there. I'd tell you about my favorite restaurants and watering holes, but that seems counterproductive to our mission here! Also, congrats to your wife. That's some nice progress.

Sorry I've been awol, again...

October proved to be a busy month despite me having a broken foot. I'll be back on plan as of Monday (going to the Seahawks game tomorrow and I'll need a few beers). I'll post up with the damage Monday, as well as a quick recap of the month. If you're dying to know whats going on with me, you know where to look...

Last Week: ?

As of Friday, I started doing an hour of morning fasted cardio, as per most body builder's recommendations for fat loss. I'm currently sitting at 2500 calories per day, and I'll adjust downward as needed. I'm getting at least 210 grams of protein in per day, and I let the fat and carbs fall where they may.

I took my daughter roller skating on Saturday night, and I took a nasty fall, hitting my lower back hard. I'm aching quite a bit from it, and I'm sore.

chasing bulk, u are right, theres no way u wont get results from doing that workout, but it is very quick, i just restarted and i cant even keep up close with them, but modify till u get the moves down, i always worry about injuries when i am doing those ones

forgot to weigh in on the 1st, slipped my mind, but theres been no change anyhow,

as for halloween candy, i did not make it out unscathed, however, very happy with the minimal (compared to other years) indulgence in the candy

my son hiding it in my room from his sister isnt helping though

Hey Shiner,

I don't know if it's flexibility, or what, but I have problems getting my body to move that quickly in any one direction. It's a lot of fun though. It beats walking on a treadmill for an hour any day.

I know you and your wife have been doing Insanity for years, and you seem to be able to maintain your weight like that, so it must be pretty good stuff. I would think a typical Insanity workout burns around 800 calories on average.

Right now, we're in a small rental home, and I have to rearrange everything to be able to do the workout. Hopefully in a few weeks our new home will be completed and I'll have a lot more room to move.

I'll bet those Insanity workouts are brutal on a super low carb/ketogenic diet.

I am happy to see my weight finally drop a little bit. It was a lot of work getting it to move, but I'm glad that I didn't have a knee jerk reaction and drop my calories drastically.

I am talking to body builders, and the new rule of thumb for protein is 1.5 grams per pound of body weight, which would put me at 300 grams of protein per day, which I think is ridiculously high and hard to get. It's also very expensive. But, I'm tempted to try it for a week to see what happens.

Hola people. Since I've missed the last few weeks here are my numbers...

10/21: 264.4
10/28: 272
11/04: 270
11/11: 266.4

Up and down I go. My buddies birthday was in there (drinking trip to portland), a seahawks game, as well as a couple fall social outings. I'm back on track now for a week and things are falling into the groove once again. I've been cleared by the doc for everything except high impact. I except that by the end of the month I'll be released to 100% of everything. Back on the the bike this week, planning on a couple pool swims too.

Next planned cheat is thanksgiving. I'd like to be around 250 before that day comes, so I have a lot of work to do in two weeks. Today was a motivational monday (on my blog), and I posted up a pretty cool video if you're interested.

Greetings men. I got through about three weeks of clean eating and then threw it all out the window this weekend on a guys trip. Yet another restart on Monday. I am still getting up Monday through Friday and jogging 3 miles.

I'm entering my danger zone - birthday next week, then Thanksgiving, then all of the holiday parties, lunches, dinners, etc. My goal is to weigh the same on December 26 that I weighed last Friday.

Bulk - what part of Austin are you building in?

CTI -that's a great article. It sounds just like my 98 yo Grandpa. Last year I asked him what he wanted for Christmas and his list was cigars, chewing tobacco, pipe tobacco and Scotch.

It's been a long while since I've posted here. I started eating low-carb back in September of 2010, at 264 lbs(I was 300 at one point). I got down to 141 lbs in August of last year, which is a bit low for my height(~5'11"). Shortly after that, I started eating whatever I wanted and rarely stepped on a scale, and a couple of weeks ago I got close to 180. My clothes were getting tighter by the day, and I can't have that, so I finally got back on the wagon last week. I'm also back to weighing myself and logging it everyday with Libra on my Android phone. Pounds are coming off, and I managed to get the trend line to start pointing downward. Logging weight with a site or app that has a trend line is great, because after you log a week or two of daily weigh-ins, it'll smooth out and "ignore" an extra pound here or there and show you where you're really heading. I'd like to be back around 150 lbs, and plan to be more careful in the future about eating off-plan. You can obviously see here where I quit logging, and started eating junk:

Anyway, on Monday, pretty well into ketosis:

11/13/13: 170.6 lbs

I'm glad to see there's a men's thread here, hopefully it will stay somewhat active. I'll try to check in on Mondays to keep myself accountable.
