Happy July everyone!

Let's make this month a great one. And do it together.

Happy soon to be birthday Deb!

I sent an e-mail reminder to a friend that does yoga that Steve Ross was going to be on Dr. Oz today. Then I got a kick and found a deal at a local yoga studio for 5 classes for $25. I have never taken yoga and have always been curious. So my first class is next Monday night. Kinda nervous as I can see myself falling all over the place, but I know that this is a good opportunity to try something new.

Well I am back at it today and planning on staying there for the month. Been going through so stress , my DH has to see his Cardiologist on the 17th because there has been severe changes on his echo. We will wait and see but its seem likely he will have to have the valve replaced in heart and he is type1 diabetic on top of this. If it has to be done its will be done in Southern On so thats a whole batch of other problems. Anyway stress eating is never the answer and we all need to be healther if this is to happen. Laura try not to work to hard and remember your next days off are straight ahead. Deb your big birthday is almost here, have fun camping great weather for it. We are entering a heat wave but I think you are already there. Avy what part of NS are you from? Some parts get lots of fog but we don't in our area and we are a lobster fishing village on the north shore. I always have wonderful weather in Aug when I go home. Karen just say , brain go to sleep maybe it was nightmares about monster tractors. Bucky yoga is great and I have no balance at all , you will do fine!! Misty Canada Day is just like you 4th of July except its all red and white We had great weather and beautiful fireworks last night. In my family Canada Day is filled with scottish and Irish music. Cheryl it was cooler here about 24 yesterday but moving on up to the 32 range which is around 90F and very warm for here. I am sure I will melt Your right no more company for awhile the next few weeks should be quiet and I will just work on moving the scale that is hating me at the moment

Karen hope you finally feel asleep, I hate when that happens, I'm tired all day. But you'll sleep good tonight.

Jo hope Dh is ok, I can sure see why you under alot of stress. I've been there with my DH. Glad your back on plan, you need to stay healthy and strong. Our temps have been up there too, but way to humid.

Deb shoulds like you almost ready for camping.

Bucky, I think you'll like yoga I have some DVDs that I do on my off days from the gym. I'm finally getting pretty good at it and it's relaxing even though you get a good work out.

Laura hope your work week goes smooth, but I'm sure on the 4th you'll be busy with all the people who don't take care.

There is a yoga studio just around the corner from me (not one the one I got the 5/$25 deal at. But she is closing that and moving elsewhere in August so I thought why start there?

Well, I e-mailed her and she said that she isn't moving far and said that she had a beginner class tonight if I wanted to try it. So after my regular work out, I cleaned up and headed up there.

LOVED it. I don't know why I waited so long. And this instructor is fantastic. I love that it is a smaller studio as she gave personal touches and instructions.

Karen - good luck with the new office. Sounds like a lot of work but it'll be worth it once it is all said and done, eh?

Deb - congrats. So hard to get decent sleep anymore. Especially if you have cats. I'm just sayin.'

Alright all you yoga people. Do you think with my pain issues it would be something I could do? I keep looking for something. What kind should I try? Classes or DVD?

I recommend a class. I go to 3 different ones occasionally, and they are different instructors with very different approaches, but they all have one thing in common... everyone works to this own abilities and limitations, and the instructors will work with each person's pain, disability, whatnot.

I have joint pain and general aches and pains, and I do yoga just fine.

I would suggest buying an extra thick mat, 1 inch thick, bought mine at Walmart, or you can double up (or more) a thinner one. Also, buy a couple of the foam blocks for yoga postures, they really help if you can't bend far enough or are unstable. I never realized how much different (and easier) it was, until I used a block in some positions to get the postures correct, and not put pressure on certain joints.

Good luck, yoga is great, and I need to get back at it like I was!

Misty thanks I am sure he will be fine its just all the wait and see part right now. Should know more by the middle of the month. Avy i am on the North Shore where the water is warmer and lots less fog, cant wait to get there. Cheryl it wouldnt hurt to try a beginner yoga class and a good instructor will help you to not hurt yourself. I like it and love how I feel after but I agree the thicker the mat the better or double up, thats what I do. Deb I hope you have a great birthday in case we miss you tomorrow sounds like you have lots planned and sounds fun. Karen that is beautiful you are going to be so busy. Bucky glad you enjoyed it, its always fun to find something new we like. Well we are in for a hot day and I am spending the day training the guy thats going to cover for me so it will be busy. Hope you all have a great day I had a good eating day yesterday and today has started out good too!!

CJ - definitely! I went to yin yoga class tonight. It was great. If you are worried, they do have ones called Gentle Yoga that you might want to try. I am going to that one on Saturday.

Most studios have first time fees that are much lower. Give it a try! And check with the studio. The one I found is small and lots of personal attention. Plus she supplies the blocks, blankets, mats and straps so I didn't have to buy anything, although I think I may buy my own mat.

I slept better last night than I have in a long time. So relaxed.

Jo - sending best wishes your way for your DH.

Anyone got special plans for tomorrow?

Man, I am going to have to go back to tracking my food. It is time consuming, but don't know what else to do.

I thought I was being more careful about what I was eating, but is not working.
Yesterday, I was about 1900 calories. That should not have my scale going up!!

Just not sure what path to go down, but I have to get the scale down. I have a belly (not as big as DH) but I have to trim down!! Disgusted with the whole process. I realize people swear you need 3 meals a day, but today, Diet pop is my BF. That seems to be the easiest meal for me to cut way back on.

Bear with me, ladies. I have to keep myself accountable somewhere. It is not working to ignore it.......

I'm there with you Karen. I've been gaining and losing the same 5#. I just can't seem to break thru.

I may try the Y for yoga since the studios are full. I'll have to see when the classes are. It's a 30 minute drive.

Bucky I am family over. We live in the country and its shady and cooler out here. What about you?

Pat I may drop by a studio to at least see how big the class is. One studio only has 1 class a week. Mainly Pilates there. There is only 1 other studio in the area that I could find. Otherwise just the Y.

Laura I hope work is better today. Being a holiday tho.....

Avy blocks and extra thick mat. Thanks.

HAPPY 4th Everyone!!

So.... I was looking at different yoga videos on you tube. I noticed a lot of them use hands on the floor. So I looked up yoga moves for hurt wrists and saw this

Yoga Tips for Wrist Pain - YouTube

It felt pretty good. But this morning my index finger and palm area are swollen and sore on my Good hand. Normal or did I do a dumb thing?
