Hi Ladies!

My goal for this challenge will be 178, exactly 100 pounds from my start weight. Won't that be a fun celebration?

Thought I'd throw these old stats in here from the previous challenges:
Summer Challenge 270/238/220
Autumn Challenge 238/220/199
End of the World 220/208/199
Swing Into Spring 208/194/199
Slimmer by Summer Challenge 194/188/180

Yaaawn... I'm tired & hungry even though it's an UD and I've been munching all morning. Wonder if I need more water. Will try that first. I'm also thinking of going back to induction level low carb until early August. Truly just in the thinking stage right now, though, and if I do it'll probably be after the 4th so I can enjoy our dear friend's annual bbq. Scale bounce is just killing me and I really don't think I've truly lost anything doing JUDDD. I was back at 193/194 this morning after a DD. I dunno. It's an enjoyable way to maintain, that's for sure! I also had a lot of sodium last night, so who knows. Just thinking thinking thinking...

Speaking of the 4th, I just checked the calendar and I'm going to need to adjust my UD/DD schedule to make the 4th an UD. Best way to do that? Fri DD/Sat MD/Sun UD?

I could use a nap too! DH is working nights and I just cant seem to get a good nights sleep when he isn't home.

Tami- I do the same thing ...one day I want to go back to low carbs the next I tell myself slow and steady wins the race.... I normally loose 10lbs a month on low carbs and I haven't really lost much for the month of June counting calories. We shall see

I'm really torn between just being happy taking it slow and wanting to be a little smaller before we go to Vegas in early August. When we started planning this trip I honestly thought I'd be about 10 pounds lighter at this point than I am now. A low carb jump start really may not be a bad thing.

Tami - everyone as differing opinions on how to switch up rotations. I haven't ever had a MID Day that worked for me. So I typically just do 2 Up Days and move on!

It's Wednesday and I too am TIRED! Up late again last night. Not sure I'm young enough for this anymore! VBS is fun though, so it is so worth it. DD11 is loving Volleyball camp this week. 8-11 a.m., she only wishes it didn't start till 10 or even possibly the afternoon. Waking at 7:00 a.m. is hard....especially since she was averaging around 10:00 a.m. before this. DS14 went and saw World Z yesterday. He said it was GREAT! DD11 and her friends loved Monsters University! Fun Summer movies to take in!

Layne! You'll be moving into onederland soon! How exciting!

Monica, that's kind of what I was thinking re 2 UD vs. a MD, especially if I move to low carb. I just don't know yet. I really do like JUDDD. I'm sure if I was just patient I'd be fine in the long run. Anyone have some extra patience to spare? I'm plumb out Sounds like the kids are having such a great summer already! How fun!

I forced myself to get out there and do C25K. Nothing but pure will power today. It's hot & humid and it sucked. We're used to our 'dry heat' here. lol. This sticky stuff is gross!

Hi everyone!!

to Layne! I think you've set a very do-able goal. I can't wait til you pass the onederland line! It's so exciting!

I'm thinking with the carb-cutters, too, for losing weight. I lost weight best when I combined low-carb with fast-five in the first challenge (and religiously sucked up 2L of sparkling water a day, too). I JUDDD, though. I'll never leave it completely.

Welcome to my world. The humidity here on the coast seems like it never drops below 500%, though as cold as it is most of the time, we call it "damp" instead of "humid".

Tami, how is the latest round of doggie meds going?

Monica, Liz, may you both sleep better tonight.

I'm ready to celebrate every single stubborn pound, Monica!

And Liz, my goal (coincidentally) is 45 pounds total lost too!! We'll celebrate it together!!

Danielle, I'm wondering how DD's gluten reintroduction experiment is going? After what you said at the end of the last challenge about her history already with the prednisone and the mean friends (you know, before size 7 became the "fat pants" ), I am doubly impressed with her (and your) bravery this time. The kid's got character.

Me... I don't want to jinx anything, but both the vampire story and the move are going GREAT. I can't believe how easy things are going right now. It can't last.

Back to work!!

Lynne

Hello Ladies, sorry I've been MIA!

I'm starting out at 187 and my target for this Challenge is 182....

Dukan has worked well for me so far, 9 days off attack phase has seen a drop of 7.6lbs unfortunatly I'm seeing a massive difference from the benefits I was seeing with JUDDD. I've got the swelling again in my ankles and wrists and I'm having to rely heavily on my asthma inhalors so gonna see how I get on in the next few weeks and possibly go back to JUDDD again but the standard EOD rotations instead of trying to be clever and mixing it up!

Happy 'Hump' Day everyone xx

Layne - Welcome....hope to see you in ONEderland soon

Tami- I was thinking of maybe doing low carb again to if I dont see a change in the weight soon

Lynne- it will be so nice to see 45lbs gone we can do it!! Glad to hear things are going well for you right now...like you said dont jinx yourself. You so deserve smooth sailings after all you have been through recently. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Gina- Congrats on the 7.6 lbs, sorry the other stuff is giving you issues again I think doing the rotations of the two may work really well for you....all you can do is give it a try right?

Hi there - I think I will post a goal here in this challenge too; I don't recall that I've ever really made a goal for myself by a specific date, so I will give it a try!

I think that I will shoot for approx. a pound a week; Sept 22 is 12-13 weeks away, so I shoot for a 15 lbs loss. I'm 215# now.

Thanks!

Lynne, soooo happy that things are falling into place & going well for you! About time!

Did I not update you guys with the latest round of doggy med news? The latest 24 hour monitor (the one following the one with errors) looked pretty decent. His heart rate was much slower overall, with the highest being 170ish as opposed to 300 like it had been. The downside is that there are signs that it's too slow at times and he's getting an occasional premature ventricular beat... it's kind of the last failsafe to make your heart beat if it doesn't for some other reason. So his heart is sensing that it should beat, the meds are keeping it way slow at times, so a different part of his heart is throwing out an electrical impulse to make it beat. These are very infrequent, though, and both cardiologists were happy with the results from this recent holter monitor. They want us to monitor him again in 6 months. We have his 6 month follow up echocardiogram in July. If nothing's changed there (it was totally clear) then we'll keep on our current protocol for the next 6 months. That would be amazing. It seems it's been just one thing after another since his diagnoses in January.

For the newbies (HI!) my great dane was diagnosed with primary atrial fibrillation during a routine health screening. The main issue is the a-fib causing his heart to beat too rapidly, greatly increasing his chance of cardiac arrest. He's 3 and this was just totally out of nowhere, so has really thrown me for a loop. I have two 'nearly grown' kids, but he's my baby

Gina, you've done so well with Dukan. I'm really sorry that some of your old symptoms are popping up. Not fair at all.

Liz, I have to admit I'm secretly hoping the scale will magically move soon... and it may TOM is approaching... so that I can continue with JUDDD, but it may just be something I need to save for maintenance? Still dunno.

Stacy! Your goal puts you right at Onederland's door, too. How exciting! I'd be thrilled with a pound a week right now. As you can guess there are a few of us just kind of stuck at the moment. This too will pass, though.

Thanks for all the warm words of welcome and encouragement...I'm only down .4 so far...putting me at 202.6....but loss is loss! I may have had a little carb creep yesterday, so I'm going to try to be extra strict today. I want to peel these pounds off and never find them again!

Good luck everyone!

Monica- all is well over here....trying to lose those last 2lbs I gained on vacation!! Still doing low calories and loving it. Not loving the slow loss but I keep telling myself this is what I can do long term and I should stick with it. I am like Tami one day I want to go back to low carb and the next I dont.

Lynne - thanks for the update on the doggie! Hopefully they find in 6 months he is doing the same or better.

Layne - yes, scale moving down, no matter how small...is always good

Liz - I completely understand. I have/had a complete LOVE/HATE relationship with LC!

Struggling like hell and totally crashed with tears the lot when I came into work at Lunchtime. Seems my BMI isn't high enough to be seen by the Weight Management/Mental Health clinic which one the one hand 'Yay' but on the other hand 'what now?' Feeling very demoralised (?) and just wanna go home right now xx

I'm so sorry, Gina.

I wonder, with all the chronic illnesses you're living with, if there's mental health coverage for that - separate from your weight management issue? Maybe it's that old health-related stuff popping up that's got you down anyway.

Tami, that's good news on the doggie meds! How's the exercise going in the sticky heat?

Stacy, welcome! Onederland, here you come!!

Layne, yes to the scale movement! Any movement (down) is good! Also I'm curious about how you became a pirate, if you don't mind sharing. Blisterin' barnacles!!

Monica, is VBS over tomorrow, or is it ongoing? I hear ya on feeling too old for burning the candle at both ends, though. Hang in there!!

Me... good news and bad news.

Good news is that I've had a breakthrough on the very beginning of the vampire book this morning, and it makes all the difference. The story was good before, and now it's better than good. If I do say so myself.

Bad news is that I'm really struggling to find some help here in Gavin care for the summer. He can't attend the day camp he's been attending for the past 2 years - we can't afford it, and they didn't respond when I asked them for assistance. We've always gotten assistance before, but this year, apparently not.

The other day camp, sponsored by the community center, seems bewildered by Gavin's special needs.

There are two day care centers in town: he's aged out of the one, and the other can't accommodate his special needs.

All the individuals I've tried to hire have declined, for one reason or another. The one who did not decline...I declined. I don't want to trust Gavin to some random stranger I met through the employment agency, anyway - background check or no.

In the long run, I'm afraid this might just be too small a town for us to actually live in. At the end of the day, there's not enough infrastructure - and what little there is seems to be eroding due to budget cuts.

I guess I'm feeling a little demoralized too today. I'm also afraid that moving into the Villa of Reduced Circumstances next month is going to demoralize me further.

It's just fear. Right?

Topic switch: Did Danielle make it onto the bus, or did we lose her somewhere?

Have a great Friday-eve everyone!!

Lynne
