Some whole food shops sell them loose (the Scoop Aweigh chain or something like it in Bristol but other independents and chains do likewise). H&B sells the powder form and there are several suppliers for the husks on Amazon. (H&B stock both plain and flavoured, and they may be called colon preparations but the completely plain version does exist and it contains only psyllium husk - but usually in powder form.)

I usually turn the yolks into ice-cream for DH, or a curd of some sort for the neighbours. If I have a lot of them, then I'll cure them in miso paste. You spread out a thick bed of miso, make some hollows in it and place the eggyolks - then cover them over in miso paste and leave them undisturbed in the fridge to cure. (The blog Playing with Fire and Water describes the technique and has amazing photographs.) The eggyolk is transformed into a very savoury spreadable.

There are times when I use powdered eggwhites (obtained online although I know the liquid form is available from fresh cabinets in several supermarket chains). I like using the powder because it allows me to use a heavily flavoured liquid/stock to make up the mix and this can add a lot to the recipe.

Psyllium has a neutral taste which is why I like the option of flavouring the eggwhite powder.

thanks slowsure for info. we dont have any of those weigh type places out here, its good old tesco or morrisons and even thats 14mile round trip lol. good idea for the eggwhite powder i shall have to seek that and pysllium stuff out. i shall have a seek online probably as i do fancy trying the wraps.

i make the flax buns and they make a nice sarnie but the wraps would be a change

Thanks Dottie, for adding the link

You are very adventurous with your food preparation Slow, I am duly impressed.

Sorry I gave you a scare Shy, it was as Ailuros guessed, a reference to the bashing I will be giving it with these particular friends.

Had a good day yesterday, lunch with a friend, some successful cloths shopping mostly in H&M then an evening at a folk gig in our local village hall. Steve Knightley who is great, and a friend too.

Another DD called for though. I am wanting to get back to 5:2 but haven't seen the goal weight yet since getting back from hols, so keeping on with regular rotations a bit longer.

About once a month I dehydrate some coconut wraps for DH but this is horrendously expensive as it must be the flesh and water of young coconuts, not the older, brown hairy ones. Not only are young coconuts difficult to find but expensive - although probably on a par with the average lunch from Pret or similar.
Loads of coconuts here - sorry I can't send them to you!

Dukan is popular with some of DH's colleagues. At lunchtime, little is to be heard apart from the chewing of FF cottage cheese with Marmite.

Super busy at work. Worked late everyday last week and so far this week! Can't stay late tomorrow. Thankfully, I have the dentist right after work!

Blotto - If you have no social schedule we should plan a coffee morning.

Vicki pointed me in this direction, so Hello from the North of England!

I've been JUDDDing since last September. I have lost nearly two stones and am almost a maintainer. I'm currently like Kissa, I got down to 124lbs but am currently 126/127 due to a couple of pounds left over from a recent holiday. I'm also only 5'2".

I had my 60th birthday last Thursday and, despite the extended celebrations, my average weight for last week was 0.5 lbs less than the previous week. I JUDDD!

Nice to meet you all.

Hi Flossyliz, you found us! Kissa's my lovely Mum, and a great inspiration. I'm 5'2"' but have a long way to go before I see anything in the 120's.

Well I've been back JUDDDing for over a week, I have no idea what's happening on the scales as I don't have any - I'll know how much I've gained once I'm back in the UK - I vaguely know what I got to ...

Our container is due to arrive in port on the 21st and we move in to our new home on the 24th - just in time for me to go to the UK - sure DH is very happy, left him to pack, leaving him to unpack!

Now just need to sort out my company!

Lola, welcome back - we missed you! I'm hoping you might keep me company on Dukan??

Slow, cottage cheese and marmite?! Just mixed up and eaten on it's own?

Blondie, yes, we must do coffee soon!

Blotto yep I am with you on Dukan....good first day yesterday.

I put nearly 3kgs on holiday..yikes...however, I am normally still quite controlled on holiday and only usually put on 1kg max. However, I will admit I let my guard down and drank loads of cocktails and fruit smoothies.

Glad to say though after clean eating on Sunday and Dukan yesterday I am down 1.5 kgs phew....

Welcome Flossy and hi to all reading.

Hi all! Hope you are doing well!

Flossy, Welcome!!!!

I'm back.

The funeral was as far as funerals go beautiful and wonderful. I am sure we honoured my grandmother in a way that was respectful and lovely.

My holiday was good. It was nice to be able to finally switch off after the months of stress. We realised we haven't stopped and relaxed properly since we moved house more than six months ago!

I didn't pay attention to my diet, so I'm back on the wagon now...

Still sticking with the nourishing traditions philosophy and have decided to add 3 fasting days a week to speed up the weightloss.

My menu today (non-fasting)
B: 3 eggs hardboiled, homemade mayo
L: big salad with leftover roast chicken, dressing made with olive and flax oils and lemon
D: probably something from the BBQ with a summer salad, the weather is lovely and so eating outside will be nice!

Have a good day everyone!

Mint - Welcome back to the Middle East! Hope your stuff arrives safely and on schedule.

Flossy -

Mimosa - Happy that the funeral went well.

Blotto - I have to be in the city on Saturday. Maybe we can meet for coffee. Unless you want to head out here to see the new babies!

Lola - What is Dukan???

Work is crazy but we are handling it. DD arrived safely back in Colorado and has already started summer classes. All the rest are out of school for the summer. Oh yes, I almost forgot. Insha'allah in about 8 months I am going to be a grandma! My DS1 called and told me his wife is pregnant!!!!!!

Wow, blondie, congrats! I didn't even know there was an older DS1 - where does he live? I can't do coffee this Sat as I'm in Dubai for a hair appointment - sorry.

Lola, yay, glad Dukan is working well for you already. Day 3 here too and all good so far :-)

Mim, glad the funeral was beautiful, and that you had a nice holiday afterwards.

Mint, when do you leave for the UK?

Blondie: congrats on the great news!!!!!

Mint: I'm with you on the IFing...

Blotto: How's the Dukan working for you? I tried it a few years ago, and did well on it, but went crazy because of the lack of fat...

Everyone else: hope you are well!

My menu today (fasting till 7pm):

B: nothing, only fluids
L: nothing, only fluids
D: salad with a dressing made of skinny quark, olive oil, a squeeze of lemon and some grated parmesan. This is added to chopped cucumber, tomatoes and salad leaves and mixed fresh herbs from the garden. As a protein I'm adding 150grams of steamed salmon steak. Should fill me up and it's around 432 cals total. That leaves some room for the ginger tea I'm sipping and my cod liver oil...

Have a good day everyone!

Hi all,
Welcome to Flossy! Congrats to Blondie on the exciting news! (you'll be such a glamourous young Granny!). Glad the funeral went well, Mimosa. Happy to see you enjoyed your hold, Lola. Excited for Kissa and Mint to be together soon. Good for you acing Dukan, Blotto.
And hi to everyone else
All is well here...though I haven't been weighing myself or counting calories so I am not surprised to be up a couple of pounds! When will I learn?? Only on "Janet's Planet" can I eat and drink all I want and stay the same weight i am taking matters in hand right now!! Fortunately I have a couple of quiet days ahead, so will try and get back on track....
Have a good week everyone.

Hi everyone.

Mimosa. I am sure that you gave your grandmother a wonderful send off...and be thankful that she had a reasonably long life - albeit poorly towards the end.

Good to see you back Jan and Mint.

Well day 3 of Dukan and I.ve lost 2kgs of the 2.8 I put on over the holiday phew....so only 800 grams to go to get back to start weight. TBH I am enjoying Dukan and will stick with it for a while with Blotto.

My DD...did fantastically well on it and lost 3 stone.

Frantic day at work today...first one back after my holidays so zillions of emails as you can imagine.. but hey its the work that pays for the holidays.

Brilliant day here in the UK lovely and warm...and guess what everyone is moaning now that it's too hot ARGHHHH! What is it with the Brits the weather!! Its either too cold or too hot. For me I never ever complain its too hot...I hate the cold. But yep we will be back to that tomorrow rain and 18 degress...

Maryam get the prize for best news, how lovely to be looking forward to the next generation. Mother to six is unbelievable enough. Grandmother is downright ridiculous.

Jan, good to see you! I'd like to live on Janet's Planet, sounds pretty good to me

Mim, your name came up a lot when I searched the Dukan threads. It's going well so far, like Lola i've had a good kick start - 4.8lbs in 3 days.

Lola, yay to 2kg! Let's keep going, like you I'm rather enjoying it. And we can start adding some veggies in soon.

Lola, Kissa - I never complained about the heat when I lived in the UK either. Here, when it hits 50 - well, that's a different story......!

Have a great weekend all x

Morning all!

Blotto and Lola: congrats on the great losses!!!!!

Nothing much to report, we had an end of the world thunderstorm yesterday evening: hailstones the size of quail's eggs... Took a picture just in case for insurance... Thankfully nothing got badly damaged at home. Some of my colleagues aren't so lucky.

For the rest, still hot here, around 30 degrees already. Promising to be a scorcher again! Loving it! I like the heat too...

Going off to Cologne to see Bon Jovi this weekend. Not a big fan, but a concert usually is fun, and a weekend in Cologne definitely is fun!

My menu today (normal day):
B: 2 eggs, HB, 2 TB mayo
L: going to Va Piano, an Italian style fast food restaurant, where they cook everything from fresh in front of you and where you can customise as well. Looking forward to my garden salad with vinaigrette dressing with feta cheese and sundried tomatoes!
D: dunno, depends on whether we have another end of the world storm, or not. If not: we fire up the BBQ and have some spicy turkish sausages (Sucuk) and a salad on the side. If we have last evening's horror, it will be grilled chicken from the nice chicken place, salad on the side...

Works out to be about 2100 calories total for the day. (including my drinks, cod liver oil, etc)

Have a great day everyone!

Morning all!

Just popping in quickly, got lots to do at work!

Noticing my rings are getting looser, even on the finger that is all horrible because I bent it the wrong way ten weeks ago... I think I've gotten rid of a lot of bloating and water retention by fasting and really waiting to eat until I've fasted for 24 hours. None of the binge behaviour on my non fasting days either so far.
I'm really paying attention to what I'm eating on my non fasting days, and making sure that I stay within my calorie limits. To not obsess to much about food, I'm glad I took the decision to only go for 2 or 3 fasting days a week. I try and do these during my week, so weekends can be enjoyed stress free. I think also this is what got me with JUDDD, and once I made an exception, it went haywire. This way I have flexibility and less pressure.

Anyway, I'm off to Cologne tomorrow morning, so wishing everyone a lovely weekend!

My menu today (fasting)

B and L: nothing, just fluids. Either water or grated ginger with boiling water.
D: big salad with a low fat dressing (homemade) and tuna and a hardboiled egg.
Works out to be 495 calories.

Have a good weekend everyone!!!
