Cheryl dear god . I do hope you are ok and I am sorry I wasnt here sooner. I unplugged for the weekend , hadnt even watched the news. Needed a break and wasted my long weekend playing games with DH and boys outdoors, lots of walks and watching movies with them. Just what I needed. I would have been scared to death. The poor people, what an awful thing to happen. Thinking about you
Guess I shouldnt stay away that long..

That's where we will be. Terrell, Forney and Rockwall

I just read some posts on the Ok thread. Some people just don't understand. Saying things like - how hard can it be to dig a hole in the ground? We are undermined here lots of tunnels and shaft which fill with water. It just up set me. Many people in this area are trying to raise families on minimum wage. They don't have $1000's of dollars for safe rooms. Or live in rentals. These kinds of tornados used to never happen. So very rare. They are becoming more the norm now and we will have to adapt to that. But I find comments like that very hurtful.

Sorry for the rant.

Rant away Cheryl , not sure what the Ok thread is but there are people in the world that just are not nice or just stupid. We can always figure one the stupid ones but the mean ones bother me at times as well. I think everyones weather is changing and not for the better. We get that alot up here, why would people live there, why dont they just all move. Easy to say but there are alot of poor people up here just barely getting by. All any of us can do is stay as safe as possible and live our lives being happy. The one thing none of us can do is control Mother Nature. Stay safe Cheryl and know I am thinking about you today.

Thanks Jo. Ok stands for Oklahoma where the tornado was ther is a thread on here about it. I've been struggling this month with our tornado anniversary coming up tomorrow. Plus the tornado warnings we have been getting. Then to see Moore. It just made it all come back so vividly. But I've been talking to some other people around here and the same thing is going on with them. So we are trying to not to focus on ourselves and how to help Moore, OK. I still find myself in tears easily but I try to refocus. Ours is the past. Theirs is now.

Deb and I kept searching after my tornado for a place with no weather- natural disasters. We really couldn't find any thing. Mother Nature is everywhere

I kinda figured out that what it stood for. I didnt see that thread. I am sure this had to be a very scary thing for you to hear about and those poor people that are living through it. Take care of yourself Cheryl , and if you need to cry , cry its healthy and sometimes we all need to. Yes Mother Nature can effect everywhere, just in different ways. I am so glad you guy made out alright this weekend. I know nothing about tornado other then what I see in the news. How long do the season last, or does it go on all summer?

May is our worst time. The flash of the warm/humid and cold fronts sets them off. We had a late start to Spring and thought we would get by with a calm season. Which we are here. Poor Ok. Our town has all kinds of areas set up needed items to them and we have sent out several crews. Experience helps us know what they will need.

Come June I will be back with a plan to get this weight off. Back on track !!

hate watching the news, but can't not watch. There but for the Grace of God............................................... ....

We live Concrete Dome house. Found out all 4 kids want to eventually build same thing because of safety from storms. Means we did something right.
If weather gets bad, we just run for the house.

I remember your dome. They are rated highly safe. Do you have shutters to go over the windows? When we looked into domes in the early 80's they wouldn't let them in the city. I wonder of that would change now. The monolithic like you have not the wood ones. I have always liked them.

Thank goodness there wasn't any other destruction and everyone is safe. I couldn't even think about food, though i did ok. It's hard to watch the news reports without getting tearful. Things like what happened in Moore really help put everything into perspective.

For everyone in OK! What a devastating tragedy! I've been crying about it too. It's so sad.

CJ~ It's your anniversary today...
Yes, I bet those comments on that thread are hurtful.

Morning everyone.

Sunny and cool and no storms predicted

I remember when Moore was hit before. There used to be a big outlet Mall there. They got totaled both times and didnt rebuild after the second hit. I remember hunkering down here because they were headed our way. I don't remember which time it was that there tornadoes everywhere that night. The channels couldn't keep with tracking them. We were in Ok at the lake house and had the car packed ready to head south anywhere. The storm finally calmed down the other side of Tulsa.

I'm surprised, since I've just been eating whatever, that I've only gained a couple pounds. Getting back on track may not be so hard

Well my freezer is down. They are coming out today to look at it. I am coveted for $150 food. That will help !

Pat : yeah. 2 years. Things are really starting to fill in the past 6 months. Lots of plans in the works. It'll feel better when most of the vacant areas are built up. For 2 years we have really accomplished a lot.

Deb what's up today?

Liz we are all thankful !!

We were sitting in the house listening to the storm outside, and the conversation came up.......all 3 of my kids want to eventually build monolithic domes. The security factor of this house is phenomenal. One feels so secure inside during bad weather.

Not used to be back working, plus it's been so hot and humid and steady thunderstorms.
Still watching the news and the updates on Moore, it's so sad.

Cheryl I didn't realize that Moore went through a tornato before. Glad to hear that businesses are starting to be rebuilt around your area. Two years seems such a long time but looking up. Did you lose all your food? Glad you got some replacement money. Was it from the power surge?

Jo it's nice to take a break and sounds like you had a fun weekend with the family. I went to GD dance recital on Sat. and loved it, she's been dancing since she was 3. How's everything around you, is it all starting to green up now all the ice is gone. Now gotta ask, do you have to take a boat to get to the main land after winter is over?

Deb sneak me in that camper with everyone. LB gonna have to understand with all of use he has to stay home or do the driving.

Karen I remember seeing pics of your home. Love it to start with but didn't realize how safe it was. I'm surprised more don't build them. I just seen and ad in our local paper that a lady needed a rider to ride her 2nd horse so she could ride them together and I answered the add. Been awhile since I've rode but I'm sure I'd be do good. You just don't forget. But Dh said the ad has been in the paper for awhile.

We have had so many storms L/D is now afraid of the sound of rain he used to hide but now he follows me around and wants to be held. I find myself tripping over him.

I didn't lose everything in the freezer. The top 2 layers defrosted but under that things were still frozen. Hopefully the part gets in tomorrow.

Spent a quiet day. Nice !
