Happy Mother's Day to the mom's out there!

I'm still on plan with no sugar except the sugar that comes from my kiddies mother's day wishes.
Having a coffee in the afternoon which is really dumb for little insomniac me but it tastes good so whatever as they say.
p.s. Somebody returned my daughter's lost passport and i.d. to the NYC subway lost and found.
Whoever you are, hope your blessed many times for your kindness. You saved us a lot of trouble.

Well, I thought I was sugar free all this week. I found that there is corn syrup in my cough medicine that I have been taking for most of the week... I didn't even think about it because I just really need it.

Oh well...

We'll I'm still at it but I find after 2 weeks on any plan it starts to grind, you know what I mean? Tough spot. I started the week before this challenge I think. I had a low carb protein shake this a.m. Was a little worried about the artificial sweetener but it could have been worse. Resentment makes me do the noshing a lot. I had just walked 4 miles with my dog. I didn't want to walk the 4 miles at all.
On a side note, I read a blog this morning and the woman was talking about "background hunger". It's that fake hunger that happens when you just feel peckish. She said that when she fasted she learned to distinguish the two hungers-real and not. It was a great tool for her. For me, this background hunger is kind of like a psychological "itch". I was aware of it today.
But, I've been in some change rooms lately and OMG!!!!...the brutal stark truth...yikes. On a 5ft tall frame everything looks 10x worse. I hate wearing the clothes I have been wearing.

So, onwards people!! I'm choosing my hard.

Keep with it guys! I stopped taking my cough meds ... I am almost better now so I think I without. I have lost a little weight... But now that I am off the cough meds and counting calories as well as carbs, I think I will keep going down.
Slow loss is fine for me...as long as I am losing.

Slimlizzie, I used to be a chocolate fiend before menopause. But after not so much. Weird. Magnesium helps with those cravings. And if you can handle it, really really dark chocolate.
I do 99% and never had an issue with it but its pretty hardcore.

Ok girls, let's get with it. I've been out of town all week and really need the peptalk from you. Had a welcome home treat last night. A piece of pound cake. First sugar in almost 4 mon. Good too!!

So, lets get down to business.

Lindy, in the past I have found that travel used to undo me. In particular air travel. Something about time zone changes and whatnot. Not sure if you were air travelling or not but either way, travelling is something I need to watch for.
A piece of cake is no biggie. It's keeping going that makes the difference.
My scale is up 2 lbs and I have not strayed. My abdomen is shrinking but man oh man is this ever discouraging. Ugh. But, here is the deal, if I do as I've always done which is give up at this point nothing will change. Persistence not perfection. Perfectionism is a one way ticket to binge land for me. Moving on!!!

You're so right Emgee. I haven't thought about sugar for weeks and now the craving hits. I had 3 Atkins bars that I received 3 months ago just sitting. And last night just had to have one. Justified it by saying to myself "It's only 130 calories" but still......

No, Low Carb Librarian, you only blow it when you quit. Even if there are 2 bad days there are also 28 good days in the month. Those good days add up over time. Just keep adding them up.

I'm still sugar free but scale is not moving although I have lost inches. Whatever. So, I'm a snail. I have to still manage this issue. I don't think there is a cure. Just managing. Somedays you manage better than others but as I said, more good days vs bad add up.
Don't be discouraged. You're doing the best you can.

One thing I am so aware of now is this kind of "hum" that is the urge to binge. Hard to describe it other than kind of a background low level irritating itch. Being aware of it really helps. It feels like low grade anxiety to me. Constant low grade anxiety. Restlessness. I think we smother it with food.

Hey Ladies,
Good day today. So far am keeping up with my bargain to abstain. I still think about it and it's so new. I haven't done this in months. Funny what sugar will do to you.. Stay safe.

Hey all !!

Resisting a lot of real sugar today... Still partaking in some artificial sweetness.
People at work love to share sugar! There are candies and baked goods all over!
I had to get away and have my Met-Rx bar. It has 3 net carbs and I haven't had it stall me in the past. Better than what is downstairs right now in the staff area.

Have a great day!

Fell off the wagon day before yesterday....but got back on yesterday and am still ok today. After 3 weeks low carb my joint stiffness disappeared. One day on a gluten binge and its back. Learned important lesson..weight loss or not, I cannot have gluten. It's going to take some time to undo the damage re the reaction to gluten.

Don't worry, Emgee, temptation is always with us. Try to stay on program and keep the irritation down.
