I think no matter what type of program you're on, portion control has to be in there somewhere or you'll just keep losing the same lbs over and over. Ultimately we all have to learn that we don't NEED certain foods just because a particular program says we can have them. If they aren't good for us, we need to learn to live without them

the new "Catch" diet! You throw your food up in the air, and you eat everything you can catch before it hits the floor! but throwing the plate is a complete violation of the rules! You can only throw the food, but you must throw the entire meal at the same time! You burn more calories that way!

I usually don't WANT the crap until I tell myself I can't have it and push myself to a time frame on hitting goal. Then I eat crap and binge and gain quickly. When I tell myself I CAN, I usually leave it alone. (unless it's a big craving and then it's actually worth it and I don't overeat it, but savor it and don't gain anyway

women gain a lot of times during the premenopausal times and post and how it's just sort of a "given" that it will happen. However, some women do NOT do it but keep their weight under control their whole lives though it is definitely more difficult. Why should I just accept that it's a part of life? I don't want to and WILL NOT accept this. Just like being on certain kinds of medicines can contribute to gaining. Some people do not gain in spite of that. No it may not be EASY but few things in life worth having are.

Going to visit my BFF this weekend and am sad because now that we will be 13+ hours away I don't know when ill see her next. Mixed emotions about leaving here. I will miss the weather and the beach, kyles school, his friends, our neighbors, etc... But it will be nice to start a new adventure :)
Eating and exercise is going well and I'm losing weight slowly at about a pound a week. My stomach is noticeably flatter recently which is nice.

Jackie -- A new adventure for your family! Very exciting, but in a month? Wow -- not a whole lot of time to plan for. Will you be living on base in Ohio? What part of Ohio? I've got relatives in the Columbus/Dublin area and found it to be very nice.
Had a great time with my kids last night for Jessie's birthday. Dinner was great -- way too much food -- then the kids played Wii for a bit while I cleaned up and played with Hailey. I even got a couple of pictures to share.
Jessie (DD20) is holding Hailey (DGD10 months) and Andy (DS23) & Melissa (DIL23) are in the back. I added a better picture of Hailey because I can never seem to get a great picture of her smiling in group pictures.
We won't live on base probably. The housing isn't great I guess. We are going to have to find a place. It's the Dayton area

I weighed this morning and am down just over 6 lbs. I can honestly say this is the first 5 days I've been 100% on-plan for a long time. It feels good to be in control with my eating. I'm also glad to find that having my greek yogurt & berry smoothie for breakfasts isn't causing cravings or hindering my weightloss. I've decided to forgo adding the protein powder and just have the yogurt, berries and splash of diet blueberry juice. I do not like the flavor the protein powder adds, and without it my smoothie is already 23+ grams of protein.
The sun is shining and it should be in the high 40s today -- last couple of days have been 50° and it's felt great. I'm picking up some bratwurst on the way home and grilling a burger and a brat for dinner -- bunless of course.
Not sure of weekend plans - I got all my housework done before having company on Wednesday so that's out of the way already!
I'm back up about 4 pounds. Still not bad. But I want to get back down into the 160's!!
I love doing genealogy searches. I recently found a different site that has more information on it than I have ever seen before. And it is free. On my dad's side I haven't been able to find anything beyond my great-great grandfather being born in 1840. On this new site it traces the lineage back to coming over from Germany in the early 1700's. And on my Mum's side it traces the Pierces back to coming over in 1635!!!! Wow!!! So neat!
Back to work tomorrow night. So glad I have tonight off. I slept 7 hours yesterday but I was still exhausted last night. Slept about 4+ hours on the couch.

good morning. my weight is up today too, but I figured it would be. have had some late night snacking a couple times in the last few days. we did have a nice about 7 1/2 mile hike the other day though, so at least there was some activity in there too. we saw 9 of the 10 waterfalls on the trail we hiked.
It felt good to get back to our comfy bed last night but I got up early, got ready to go pick up my bountiful baskets produce and just before leaving got a call the truck broke down so will be an hour late. oh well, more coffee time, I guess.
not sure what else we are doing today. might go shooting and out for pizza but not sure I feel like it. we also might go to a farmers market. its not the best day for it weather wise, but its opening day and I want to talk to the nursery that we bought our hanging plants from last year about getting the same kind again.
I'm SO not ready for this break to be over yet. going to enjoy every last minute of the weekend before work again on Monday.
just picked up my produce from Bountiful Baskets. no excuse to not getting back to mostly healthy eating again this week now.
Just got back from running to 3 different grocery stores. Picked up all my deals -- at one store I saved over $35. I'm set for paper towels & tp for a long while too! I picked up a meat-markdown -- garlic butter spinach steak pinwheels. Those will be dinner tonight.
I'm making a cheesey cauliflower side dish to have for dinner tonight and lunches this week -- it's supposed to have smoked gouda, but I ended up picking up Tillamook Garlic White Cheddar. I've got a small spiral (not glazed) ham that I haven't opened yet -- so the leftover cheesey cauliflower dish will go good with that for a couple lunches this week.

Dinner: garlic butter spinach steak pinwheel, cheesey cauliflower, steamed broccoli
I have to log-in and do a little product testing for work, but then I'm going to the gym. I asked my entire development and support team to work this weekend and need to put in some time as well.
I think we are doing breakfast for dinner tonight. we ended up not cooking breakfast at the camp site yesterday and went out to eat at a German place for lunch on the way home instead.
I'm planning on using some of our fresh produce to make fajitas sometime in the next few days. Think I'll saute' some chicken to go in them too. I did make some yummy ranch dip also to eat on some of my veggies. if Wendy were here she would be saying YUM! since its our favorite brand of ranch :p .
speaking of Wendy, did you all see on fb that she broke her arm/wrist and had surgery? I miss our Wendy pooh!

Food prep day for me today. I just seasoned some boneless skinless chicken breasts with a Mojito Lime spice blend I picked up at Sams Club and put the small 1/2 boneless spiral ham in the oven to bake. I'll make a small casserole dish of cheesy scalloped potatoes w/ham for Jess -- she'll make a couple of meals of it to bring for lunches at work. For me, I'm going to make some coleslaw and a dip with greek yogurt, sour cream and more of the Mojito Lime spice blend. I really want the Jalapeno Greek Yogurt dip from Costco, but my uncle who I am going to join with isn't available to go and sign-up. Maybe next week.
Today's food plan:
L: 2 tbsp. of buffalo chicken dip, pepper strips
D: grilled chicken breast, steamed broccoli w/garlic basil butter
I should be sleeping. But I woke up after about 4-1/2 hours sleep. So I'll go to bed shortly so I'll be rested for another night at work. At least I hope so!!

Dinner was excellent! The new spice mix is a hit. I didn't eat a whole chicken breast though -- just 1/2 -- probably about 3 ounces. I wasn't terribly hungry -- too much snacking on the ham as I was cutting it up to put away after I baked it. :o
Dinner got a bit delayed -- Jessie found a cat on the property across the street from our house and she ended up bringing it to her work (Humane Society). She thought it was a pregnant female -- turned out to just be a huge, fat Tom Cat. She scanned it and it's chipped so they should be able to find the owner.
Not ready to go back to work tomorrow -- another hectic week on tap. The weekend went by too fast! :cry:

Weight was up 1 lb from yesterday. I'm sure it's the ham -- I even drank a ton of water to help keep the sodium creep away. Not worried -- I'll probably just stay off the scale this week since I'll be having several meals out of the ham. It's a once-a-year thing for me -- I only buy a small ham at Easter time. I'll be sure to keep drinking the water!

Sorry I haven't checked in since LAST Monday - or was it Tuesday? I stink. I'm sorry. Last week, mom was gone and I was SO busy and so tired. I didn't even play Farmville. :laugh:
Work is going well... Everyone is nice so far. Learning is going well. Not too bad. A lot of training classes this week on various things. No internet though. Or really, its that most sites are banned. Haven't tried here - but also don't want to get in trouble. So haven't tried anything. I know FB, etc is not allowed, so I assume her isn't as well. :cry:
So...good news! Mom got that job! She starts next week. So, that is good. Also, here eye is 100% fine. Whatever that doctor saw, is just a mark my mom was born with on her eye and it has no affect on her sight. So that is a huge relief.
So, a lot of changes going on in our home. Next week it'll probably be a bit crazy. She usually has dinner started etc by the time I get home. Now she'll be getting home about the same time as me. So, we'll see...
I'm gonna try real hard to get on here at night. Sorry I have been bad.
I haven't been around much either, Amy. hopefully can be around more again now. dh has been on vacation while I was off work for spring break so we spent a lot of time together. he doesn't go back to work again until Saturday, though so we may do a little more. I've been trying to put aside the laptop and just watch tv together mostly when we sit down to watch instead of watching and playing at the same time.
I'm glad your mom's eye is okay. and as far as dinner goes. you'll figure it out. when I cook on work days I do a lot of fast things. fajitas tonight was fast and easy. taco's are fast. do thins in the a crock pot or that you can do some of the prep work ahead of time if you need to.

I'm hoping for a short day today. I have meetings until 1pm but then hope to leave and meet Jessie at the local cosmetology school. She has an appointment to get her hair highlighted and she really wanted me to go with her for my opinion. Not sure if it will work out -- I'll have to see how my morning goes. I've got time I can take -- I still have 5 weeks of vacation time that I have to use before Dec 31. This is the first year we aren't allowed to carry over time into another year. :annoyed:

my routine is set up to be 3 to 4 days weights and 120 min. cardio each week.
today I will come home from work and have lunch then get some cardio in, I guess. no other plans really.
