i had a sizable post for y'all, but i lost it.

Just checking in. When u purchase pre-owned vinyl(LPs), you pays your price, and you takes your chances. These highlights of Die Walkure I bought used featuring the legendary Kirsten Flagstad as Sieglinda (Act I), and Bruennhilde (Act III) were savagely ABused by its previous owner(s). You cannot always go by the surface, as the problems are at the microscopic level. In any event, the cover art was worth the price I paid for it ($1.00 a disc). So, no complaints. Just for the RECORD, I take excellent care of my vinyl. Tomorrow, I will wear a spring jacket, as the high will be 65 here in the BIG(i.e BAKED)APPLE. Tues, Wed, & Thurs will be moving on up to the 70s (barf, pyoo, yuck). Lots of iced coffee in my near future. Lots of Wagner too. FF

FF, it was so chilly here yesterday - your kind of weather! I am not looking forward to hot weather coming so soon either. i get so aggravated when i lose posts. Sorry that happened. also sorry your dollar vinyl's were not in that great a shape.

Tony, your get together sounded so nice. 16 people! Wow! Good going on the shopping trip!

my left shift key stopped working this morning on computer. popped it off and dusted under it but no go. Excuse the lack of some capital letters.

yesterday went well until about 5 and then went down hill. i did enjoy the bacon and eggs for breakfast and should have kept to the low carb all day. Well i am back on track today. Scale did say i was down a pound but it is just fooling me i am sure. tomorrow i will probably be up 2 after yesterday's transgressions.

hope everyone has a great monday!

hey abs, if you are apologizing for the lack of capital letters, what should i be doing <gulp>?...i've used 4 capital letters in the last three years! :-)

ff, i've got my 70s and 80s vinyl - all rock and country rock and singer-songwriter stuff...haven't listened to any of it in a few years...gotta dust off my turntable!

i've got the gym this morning and then a lot of work today...i have about 50 projects on the agenda between home, the building and maine...i've hired my two oldest boys to help me in between their other things...i'll keep you posted...

i am sooooo happy it's gonna warm up this week...60s and 70s is perfect - i only like the 80s when i am close to the pool and would rather never see anything above the low 80s...

guys, let's try to spend this week looking at "food as fuel and food as medicine"...if we're hungry, then we eat, but if we are gonna put food in our mouths, let's make sure there is a healthy purpose to every morsel...go blitzers!!!

Hi All!

Hope your dad is okay Marilee!

Weekend was fun. Boy and I brew beer at home sometimes and a friend tipped us off to a home brew fest happening at one of the supply stores we go to, so the 4 of us met up there and sampled the different beers and traded horror stories with the other brewers there. It was a lot of fun. Afterwards we went to a pub-style restaurant for dinner and I had their fish and chips (it's the best there, that I've ever had)

In other news, I decided last week to leave my job. It was not proving to be what I'd thought it'd be, company and managers alike. Not sure what's going to be next on my agenda however. Boy is encouraging me to soul search. I've been in my "field" for nearly 12 years, so a change could be nice. Deciding what to do from here feels crazy, almost surreal. I am grateful that I can take the time to decide what I'd like to do, rather than what I have to do. For now at least.

Hey Britt...where did you go for fish and chips? I love them and am always interested in a new place.

No further news on my dad. They are doing tests.

Thanks for all of your well wishes.

i love the english style fish & chips that have the hard, crunchy batter and are wrapped in newspaper...haven't had that in years...

britt, i think you are about to embark on a very exciting journey...having the time to think about what you really want to do at an age where you are still very young but not a kid, is very, very special...i'm so happy for you...

i sold my lumber yard/hardware store in 2011 to spend more time doing the work i love and i have not regretted it for a minute!...i did what i had to do for 30 years and now i get to do what i love doing...it's such a gift...feel free to bounce ideas off us here...we all have a few years on ya but are not decrepit yet :-)

great workout at the gym today and knocked a couple of small projects off my list...three of my kids are taking me to a minor league baseball game tonight - they got me tix for my birthday...emmy is coming home from school, chris (the oldest) and vincent (the youngest) are all going...not sure if emmy's bf is joining us...it will be fun...then anthony (second oldest) and i may go to another game on wednesday morning... :-)

today, so far:
b: greek yogurt with banana and strawberry
l: salad with evoo and feta
d: baseball game food - probably a burger and a doggie

had fun at the ballgame...vincent couldn't come as he had a school project, so it was just emmy, chris and me...had a burger and a hot dog...

sorry, abi about the computer problems.i

i hope you have less complications, and much less expensive solutions than i did, in dealing with my computer problems. Now, bottom lining my retirement situation: i shall not have a dime of pension till sometime late June, nor any medical/hospital coverage till that time. Which means no Dr visits, and no meds. If I go into a diabetic coma, or a stroke, or a heart attack, it better be fatal, cause there is no way, i can pay off countless thousands of dollars, and still pay rent and utilities. FF

ff, that is ridiculous!...there has to be some mistake and a way to expedite this...it's not like you sprung your retirement on them - they had plenty of time to get this right...if you don't get any satisfaction from the people in charge, i bet you could threaten to file a complaint with the mayor's office or AG or some authority somewhere...i am not litigious, but i'd consider an attorney in a case like this...how much do your meds cost?...this is awful!

also, you are entitled to cobra or other continuous medical coverage by federal law...they can not cause your coverage to lapse...what are they giving for an excuse for this taking so long????????????

no excuse.

they simply ignore my complaints. i will be seeing this bonehead to whom i gave my application in January, when he comes to my former place of employment, and ask him to expedite the process, and whip out his checkbook to pay my rent and utilities incl cablevision for May. I did not want to join the union 32 years ago, but it was a closed shop. i was out of work 1 year and 3 days and running on empty. i dared not turn down that opportunity. My instincts were well honed. As for litigation, it would be in the courts for years. I was in more than 1 civil case as a juror. the events of the case were several years before the trial. And, I have neither the energy or the stomach for all of that. I will have some porkchops tonight. That, and Wagner will calm me down for a while. FF

ff, they need to fix that...they face huge liability if they cause your health insurance to lapse...

and still i live.

what bugs me most is the betrayal. also, the stress has triggered my old eating responses. i always used to eat as a consequence of the world not treating me right. i stopped myself today. i saved the other 1/2 for late dinner. my friend from the place i worked called me to tell me that a friend of his just filed his retirement papers. he will be retiring in july. i filed mine in january. so why must i wait to late june for my pension and med coverage to kick in? i will see the PUTZ a week from this coming Tuesday. I better get some good answers. FF

no kidding!...you don't want your coverage to lapse as the pre-existing condition abolishment in Obamacare may not kick in til next year...don't take my word for that, but you want to be very careful...

kudos for stopping yourself from binging...you've worked too hard for the past three years to make progress - keep your head in the game, bro!... :-)

great gym workout today...then i did a lot of physical work the rest of the day...i must have loaded and unloaded 1000 granite cobblestones, among other jobs...can't believe i can even do that!...hope i didn't overdo it on my hip, as i'm a bit sore, but i think it will be fine...

abi!?

marilee!?

britt!?

vicki!?

and while i'm at it...

kbeth!?

jenny!?

today, so far:
b: 1 scrambled egg
l: greek yogurt with apple and cinnamon
d: still not sure!

Good morning. Sorry to be mia, but Vicki and are dealing with a lot right now. When my dad fell, he broke his back and his neck. Although he is sharp as a tack mentally and his heart is strong, he will no longer be ambulatory. One fraction of a move and he will be paralyzed. So, that's what's been going on.

I've gained back 5 pounds of the weight I lost. I don't do well with this kind of stress.

Anywho....I'm reading the posts, but I may not be adding much right now.

gibby, i also react badly (weightwise)to stress.

my problems are mostly financial, and as a consequence to betrayal by my labor union. yours are of a more serious nature. so sorry about your dad. when i put on weight, it is usually 100 lbs or more. if u cannot follow your plan to a T, just do the best u can. we are with u, in our hearts and minds. i am a little calmer today. i hit into a computer virus, but somehow (and i do not know how), i got out of it. it was as if someone pulled me out of quicksand, just as my head was going down. i do not know how long my luck will last. with this damned piece of technology, i live by installments of microseconds. i am still working on perfecting portion control. that is the real secret to weight loss and weight maintenance. it will never come natural to me. Now, you will have to excuse me. I am throwing out the garbage, and going to SHOPRITE. FF

omg, i am so so sorry to hear about your dad, marilee...please don't worry about posting - it's amazing you've been able to keep your weight gain to 5 lbs!...we will all be thinking about you and your father...i hope he can heal and regain his ability to walk...wish i could help...

ff, what is your union saying?...that you have to give them 6 months notice to process your retirement?...it makes no sense at all...if they told you that before you left, you could have stayed working until they were ready to start cutting you checks!...

nothing going on with me is even worth talking about with all that you guys are going through, so i will just say that things are fine over here and i'm thinking about you all and let me know if i can do anything to help...

Thanks, Tony. The break is so bad, they say it won't heal. From the xray it looks like a most of one of the discs just blew out and there is just a tiny bit holding his neck together. So, it looks like the beginning of the end. However, I do believe in miracles!

i do too, marilee!...i've seen too many inexplicable recoveries, and where there is life, there is hope...i know at his age, no one is probably promoting surgery, but is that even a possibility?...

No, they won't do surgery because of his age and the nature of the injury. It's just too risky.

He's in Southern California by my sister. Talk about timing....she just retired and she's a nurse. I feel sorry that she has to handle all of this by herself. My brother, SIL and I will be going out soon.

okay, i'll have to fill in for abi til she gets back...although i'm not doing it at 2:55 in the a.m.!!!

today is a gym day, so i will be heading out in a few minutes to abuse---oops, i mean sculpt my body into the buffness i can only see when i close my eyes...

have no idea what will be on the menu today, but i am re-instating my 9 p.m. curfew 5 days a week...last night i ate some sausage at 10 p.m., and although my stomach never bothers me, i was up a good part of the night with a bellyache...

i rented a small excavator to do some yard work tomorrow, including digging a pad for the hot tub, but they just called me to tell me it broke down, ao i may have to delay the project - that sucks and i may have to see if i can find another rental somewhere...dw thinks i just want to play with a machine-toy...haha!

hang in there, kids...hope today is a better day for all...love you guys...

feeling better today.

i know it will all get rectified in time. but..it is the incompetence, the insensitivity, and betrayal that gets me. However, I shall be immersing myself in Wagner this weekend. I will not let THEM beat me. FF
