Shy, today is the day for me - I am literally bursting out of all my clothes, so I absolutely HAVE to do something about it. I'm giving Dukan style low carb a go, Lola's DD has done so well on it. 18 days til my holidays and counting, must be slimmer by the time I get on that plane!!

Started listening to Paul McKenna again - just ate only half of what 'bird like eater' DH ate and I'm stuffed! Unpleasantly so!

Very interesting.

No April Fools here ...

Happy April Fool....yep I told DH that there was a hole in the bottom of his mug of tea when he lifted it to take a sip...ha ha he fell for it.

Blotto: Yep she lost 3 stone with Dukan...mainly eating the pancake in the morning with fat free yoghurt. Salad for lunch and Salmon and onions for dinner.
Otherwise chicken and onions. Omelettes and then rotated again. Seemed like onions figured quite a lot in accompaniments.

whizzing by....speak soon xx

Mint, sounds like Paul McK is having an effect.

Lola, haha, wonder if the onions were significant to her success?! Maybe they speed up your metabolism. I always thought they were quite high in carbs, as far as veggies go anyway. DDs menus sounds pretty similar to my plan, except I'll have HB eggs for breakfast as I eat it at work.

Hello all! I shall forgo the normal moan about starting a new thread every month because there is FINALLY a little sunshine coming through the window... could this be spring at last??

Ailuros, I am sorry about your father's decline. Hard on all concerned. Hugs.

Blotto, congrats on getting through the exam in one piece - and through the champagne too! You must be looking forward to your trip!

Kissa, LOL on the slightly failed DD including sausages, mash and wine :-) Yep. Do it properly!!

Mint, interesting about feeling full on less food. Hope Paul McK keeps on working his magic for you!

Lola, LOL on the April Fool's joke :-) And interesting about onions. Hmmm...

Shy, did you manage to eat all the rabbits? Now THAT'S being back in the groove ;-)

Everyone else, I am sorry I am a lazy beast, can't be bothered to go back to last month's thread and frankly was in a rehearsal daze throughout most of it, so no personals, just... nice to see you all again!

So I survived the mad period and the premiere went wonderfully. I am apparently very convincing as an old lady with increasing dementia :-) I had to counteract all those wrinkles and aches though - 's a short recording of some Brazilian music (I had a concert of that the evening before the Onegin premiere), showing what I changed into for the premiere party :-)

Just sat in all afternoon waiting for my sister to Skype, but had a nice conversation and saw her new baby and said hello to my cousin and her family who were there... nice to be able to chat despite the distance. However I was getting rather frustrated that there was finally - FINALLY - a bit of sun out there while I was stuck inside, so I am going to go and leap on my bike and take advantage of the weather!

Who Juno you are looking a million dollars there! Love the singing too.

I am either mad or a saint as I haven't had any chocolate at all this Easter.

Still haven't cooked that b***dy leg of lamb. Probably tomorrow. We keep being waylaid by lunches and yesterday I turned my UD into a DD cos we just weren't hungry in the evening.

Have friends coming to stay for 3 nights so tomorrow it is, if it hasn't gone off!

Glad Paul M is working again VIcky, it is simply forcing oneself to listen isn't it?

Brilliant April Fool's joke Lola!

Happy April Fool's Day! No jokers here!!

Hope everyone is well. I was a poor LC Friend in March. I ate badly and kept away from the boards as I tried to ignore the pounds creeping on I will do better this month and besides, I missed you guys....

Juno - you look fab in the excerpt above. Can't get the sound to work at the moment, though.

Sorry no further personals - I'd have to go too far back.....It finally feels Spring like here - hurrah! We had a nice weekend in Maine for DH's birthday. Off to see DH2 this afternoon as I've offered to sit in the apartment she and her boyfriend are buying together while the surveyor is there.

Like Blotto, I have hols at the end of the month - Venice, then the UK for MIL's 80th, then a hike of part of the South West Coastal Path with 3 other couples. Should be fun, but I need to shed 5 lbs pronto!

Happy Spring to all,

Jan

Hi Jan, lovely to see you.

I am off holidaying too, in Turkey for a week on the 27th, then only back for a week before a rail trip across Northern Europe ending at St Petersburg.

I plan to continue doing 5:2 but am going to try to be a little more vigilant with my UD calories. It would be nice to go away a few pounds under goal!

Juno....love the picture..what a sexy siren you are lol!! and wow powerful singing. Hope that you sun is warmer than ours...its bitterly cold out today.

Blotto yep I thought onions were high in carbs but apparently on Dukan you can have when you are couple of weeks into the plan. However, DD was having them quite early on I think. Also a little salad which should have been further on I think.

Kissa...hope that you get the lamb cooked anytime SOON lol !!

Jan ... good to see you back

Shy... hope you have munched your way through those last eggs!!

Juno, I can't access the photo at work - I will look these evening, no doubt you look uber glam as always.

Jan, lovely to see you back. I seem to remember we were both in the UK around the same time last year too!

Kissa, all your holidays sound fab. Get that lamb cook quick, would be a travesty to waste it!

Lola, I'm trying to do at least a few days of pure protein before I start adding in veg. I survived Day 1, yay!

Hi everyone else!

Still surviving the madness at work and definitely making some progress!!! Taking next week off to spend with the kids who are on term break. We have a boys day out and a girls day out planned. DDs and I also have a SALON day planned. Should be nice and relaxing. DD1 has decided she wants to come home next month for 3 weeks before summer classes start. So I may take a week off to spend with her, also. We get 7 weeks a year leave and if we don't take it, we lose it, so I might as well use it!

Juno - I can't look at your attachment at work. Will definitely have a look tonight!

Kissa - Your trips sound lovely! DH and I are considering a trip to Malaysia in the autumn.

Blotto - I am thinking to do a few protein days. I have gained a couple Kgs and need to get them back off!

Lola - I eat onions every day. They are really good for you and I just love them!

Jan - Good to see you. On my colleagues was showing that Southwest Coastal Path on google. Apparently he has walked the whole thing. Looks lovely if the weather is nice!

Shy - Better eat those bunnies quick and get back on the wagon!

Mint - Hope Paul McKenna does the trick for you.

Yep! We get 35 WORKING days annual leave every year. That equals out to 7 weeks! Public holidays do not count as working days! I love this job!

Fab! We get 30 working days, which I thought was good until now, haha!

Almost the weekend here. I have a hen day/night tomorrow, so I'm not sure how I'm going to stick to Dukan. Think it'll just have to be general low carb, but of course the cocktails will do the most damage! Ah well, gotta live a little, hehe!

Have a great weekend all!

Yes, this is getting beyond a joke. I don't think Blotto is going to like the weather here at all!

Shy - Can't believe you have more snow! Starting to warm up here. 23C at 6:30 this morning!!!

Kissa - Good for you! I'm back to straight LC. DD are too hard to hard to manage with working out and everything!

I think we managed 3║C. And I picked up another cold while we were at my parents’. I’ve just had one after another all winter. I’m definitely ready for some warmth and sunshine!

Hi there, hope everyone's enjoying the weekend. It's getting warmer here, most of the snow has gone, but NOTHING at all is in bloom. I keep looking at the forsythia hopefully, but no......

We have painters in the house for 5 days, so I am camping out in the basement - there's a bathroom and rec room, so not really a hardship - but it's so good for my eating as I have no access to the fridge in the kitchen! This is the kick start I needed! I have abandoned 5:2 as I can't handle the deprivation. Back to low carb for now.

Sorry to hear you have colds, Ailuros and Shy. Hope they are soon gone!

Blotto - you're right - we do seem to travel to the UK at similar times. I like April/May in England - the flowers are so pretty!

We're on a waiting list for another Field Spaniel puppy - our current little guy is brown and called Monty. DH wants to name the new black boy Python (for obvious reasons!). I prefer the name Bertie.......we shall see who wins!

Take care everyone. x

Hi all! Been MIA due to flu which finally got me!
Feeling lots better now, only left with a cold.
Major stall in weightloss due to being ill.

For the rest all is well!

Finally saw the Horizon documentary on fasting. Very interesting. I found JUDDD too restricting and feel better and less obsessed when I would have less fasting, yet still get the health benefits. Doing 5:2 or even 6:1 makes more sense for me. Very interesting.

My menu today:
B: coffee
L: protein powder, yogurt, chia seeds, flax seeds and coconut water
D: cauliflower, broccoli and chicken casserole

Have a good day today!

Hi Jan, we felt warm sunshine for the first time today. I am pleased to know you are able to go LC again after your ops. The body is a wonderful machine. We do what we must do.

Mimosa, I love, love, love, 5:2. I am maintaining on it but with very little tweaking I know I could lose. The TV programme is so inspiring and loads of people do it LC, maybe not at 20 carbs but at around 50/60 carbs and have so much success.

Hope everyone in the UK enjoyed a bit of sunshine today, we managed to sit in the sun for an hour or so, magical.

The weather has been weird here too - we had sandstorms all weekend, followed by a real thunder and lightening storm last night with a huge downpour. It should have cleared the air but it's still soooo dusty today with zero visibilty!

Ailuros, Shy, Mimosa - are you feeling any better?

Jan, welcome back to LC! The doggies sound cute - my bike is called Bertie, haha!

Blondie, how was breakfast yesterday?

Kissa, yay to some sunshine at last!

Lola, Juno, Mint and anyone else I've missed - hello!

It’s definitely a relief to see and feel some sunshine!

Thanks for the good wishes. The worst of the cold is over, just waiting for the catarrh to clear up.

I’m off to France on Wednesday, so am generally feeling good about life.

I’m so sorry you have all those painful things, Shy — but yes, good not to have RA!

I know what you mean about not being able to knuckle down! I had plans last autumn to have lost a couple of stones by now. I only managed about half a stone. I’m not going to worry about it till I get back from France, but I really would like to be down at least another stone. It would be really nice to be able to get in all those clothes again.
