Still a little beat up from 10.8 mile hike on Tuesday with +2400 ft. elevation gain throughout.

Tough Mudder training is going well. Had a really strong mix of 800m, 400m, 200m and 100m intervals last weekend.

Monthly stats.

April 1st - 268
May 2nd - 264

Not that impressive overall, but it's the 2nd month with a small loss so I'll take it. I'm still eating pretty poorly often, just seem to get enough clean days in to fight off any damage. Definitely need to get on a more even keel.

Nice job to all. Ken looks like you had a great month. Stack, nice steady loss man. CTI, you are doing great. I'd definitely be splurging for my birthday too, but I've definitely let that one day slip into several days, even weeks. Hate having workout and eat well just to get back to where I was a week ago.

Just do it.

Its plastered all over Nike junk, but how many of take it to heart? It's more than just a neat marketing slogan. Its an attitude, a way of thinking, a mantra.

This morning marked my planned end to a two day drinking/eating binge for my birthday. I felt like death when I rolled outta bed. Dehydrated, stomach in a knot, hungover. Took a glance at my new multi sport watch (garmin 910) that Carissa had gotten me for my birthday and I knew what I had to do.

Got outta bed, threw my running shoes one, and away I went. Wasn't my best performance, but I put in 3.03 miles in just over 38min with a couple mishaps in there.

Just do it. Get out there, walk, bike, swim, run, whatever does it for you. Dont make an excuse, and just start moving.

I missed that you're doing a mudder. When is it? We're gonna do a dirty dash next month. Considering a mudder up here in October.

Officially ended my induction carb levels last week. I am just watching what I eat and trying to stay active, I feel I could lose another 8-10 lbs, but will do that over the long term so it sticks.

Good morning all. Struggling a bit for the first time this year. I haven't gone all out off plan, just not keeping it totally clean on my eating. Added to it is a slightly pulled or strained muscle that's made jogging difficult. I fought through it for a couple of days last week and just made it worse, so I'm taking a couple of days off this week to see if it will heal quickly.

On the bright side, I had my 6 month physical follow-up and my doctor was happy with my weight and my bloodwork.

CTI - I like the attitude, especially coming off a cheat. Keep it up!

Missed my swim workout this morning. Got home from my mid and felt like poo poo. Decided to take a nap and woke up at noon. Not enough time to make it to the pool and get it 1200 yards before the kiddies took over, so I decided to hit the street instead.

Pretty warm up here in Seattle, 75 degrees when I took off, but it didnt seem to effect me much.

Oh the good stuff, 3.5 miles, no walking, and feel pretty good. Thats my longest run yet, and also my first with no walking. Pace was slightly slower (averaged 12:30 miles), but my heart rate was lower, and my felt like I was exerting myself less. My next run should be Thursday morning, and I'm going to go for a short 1-1.5 mile run, and work on speed.

Two days in on clean eating, and I'm going to try to jog again (or at least a good walk) tomorrow morning.

Sunday is going to be tough on me. My wife has made a lot of requests for Mother's day from breakfast to dinner and desserts that are decidedly not low carb. I might be cooking two dishes for every meal.

caught some kind of bug, had that hot/cold night with the crazy dreams the other night, woke up with a fever, weird stuff, I feel like i have a cold now, but a heck of a lot better

so far ive been sick/hurt more this year than I can remember, hope this is it for awhile

weight is still holding on, making good low carb choices a lot of the time, indulging other times, but portion control is within limits (which is a big one for me)

Big D - always harder when not everyones on board!! stay strong

CTI - good stuff on the running , especially when u feel like crap, keep it up!

I take over one of the shift guys schedules for 2 weeks, next week its a week of nites which never agree with me, by friday I am the walking dead

All is well here. CKD is working nicely to preserve muscle and drop fat slowly and steadily. Very happy with the way this dieting cycle has progressed.

Tough Mudder is Saturday, June 1st.

Remainder of obstacle racing season looks like this so far:

July 15 - Pennsylvania Spartan Sprint

August 3 - NJ Warrior Dash

September 7 - NJ Tri-State Super Spartan (this is the one I did last year and the one I care most about). Warrior Dash is just a tune-up for this.

Among people I spoke to who had done both, the consensus at last September's Super Spartan was that it is more hardcore than Tough Mudder, but I want to do a Mudder so I can see for myself how it compares. TM is not timed whereas Spartan is, and TM has no penalty for skipping/failing obstacles, whereas Spartan has a 30-burpee penalty. Spartan is obviously tougher in these regards, so my curiosity is more about the difficulty of the obstacles.

Always happens at some point. Usually for me it's not a craving or desire to eat stuff I shouldn't, but rather just being sick and tired of eating the same limited selection of foods and seeking greater palatability. Having to spend time preparing food also becomes an issue for me as the novelty of the diet wears off. I've found that Applegate Farms organic lunch meats, cheeses, sausages, and beef hot dogs (which are even grass-fed) help with variety and convenience while keeping food quality very high.

Agreed. More nagging minor colds and persistent congestion this winter/early spring than I can remember for a long time. Hopefully it will run its course quickly and you can get back to normal.

Taking today off, been at it for 5 days straight and my knees are hurtin.

Highlights from the last week...

Increased my run to 3.5 miles and upped my swim to 1200 yards. Both felt good, and I was much quicker in both my swim and run. Still hunting for a cheap used tri bike, so I'm still stuck indoors on the stationary for now.

Took me a week to undo birthday damage, but I'm back to within a half a pound of where I was last week.

Swimming tomorrow morning, and then a run Saturday.

I've been lucky. Even with Carissa being sick all the time I've remained pretty healthy, save my joint pain, this year.

Doing well here, but add me to the list of folks dealing with colds. Trying to get over the 2nd cold in about 30 days now. It's nothing terrible, but it's affecting my sleep at night with some coughing and runny nose.

Bad weekend for me. Eats were bad and jogging was cut short as I irritated my pulled hammy trying to fight through it. I've cleaned up the food, but haven't been able to do much exercise.

Never thought I'd say this but I'm back! I lost 80 pounds five years ago but 44 pounds have creeped back. I tried WW, moderation, starvation etc but realize a low-carb way of eating works best for me. I'm 6'4' at 244lbs with a goal of 210 and maybe 200. I start today!

Hey guys. It was fun catching up on what everyone was doing. I have not stepped on the scale is months, but my tight pants tell the tale. I haven't gone crazy over the edge, but I really let exercise slip away. Now that warm weather looks like it is finally going to stay around, I am going to get back to work.

CTI - your workouts are telling me to get it in gear. Going to start by walking.

Been doing ok here. Probably just holding steady. I've been getting plenty of activity in but eats have been a little sloppy. I need to get to the grocery store and get stocked back up on healthy eats.

Hey glenn and huff.

Good eats, but minimal exercise over the weekend.

On Thursday, I went to the dermatologist to have a weird spot on my shoulder looked at. Well turns out it was skin cancer and I had surgery on Friday to remove it. Fortunately the biopsy came back the way we wanted it, so I'm moving on with just a scar. I'm pretty limited with what I can do with my arm this week, but I should be back to jogging by next weekend. With my age, it is likely I will get more of these, so I'm going to have to be better about sun protection. When I was a kid, we had a backyard pool and went water skiing all the time, and we rarely ever used sunscreen. We'd burn our way to savage dark tans early in the summer. Shirts and shoes were definitely optional for about 3 months. I'm still not good about sunscreening up, but my wife is pretty freaked, so I probably wont be able to walk outside to get the paper without slapping on some spf 50. My poor kids will never know a suntan.

Welcome back, Huff!
