Y'all would have been proud of me today. I ordered chicken salad at a restaurant knowing that it had pecans in it. When I took the first bite, I realized it was sugered pecans. I picked every single one of them out. Why would they want to mess up perfectly good pecans? Oh well it was still good.

cfine----Good for you! That's tedious work! I once picked out every little potato in my New England Clam Chowder...it was work, but I had to do it at the time!
Anyone have corned beef for St. Patty's? I did, it was wonderful with cabbage and veggies! I know corned beef is an American St. Patty's thing, but I love it and I only eat it that time of year! I can't wait to dye eggs this year for Easter---because hard boiled eggs are a staple of mine now------yay! |

Thanks Lindsay. I was quite proud of my pile of pecans
I didn't even think about eating corned beef yesterday. I buy it on rare occasion. I think the last one I bought was at New Years. They are tasty. How is everyone getting along. I got several compliments today about how I am shrinking up. I loved it. I ran yesterday at the track for the first time in my life. I thought the elliptical machine was getting me in shape, but I am sore in places that I didn't know I had. |

Congrats cfine and 4myfuture! I picked the roasted potatoes out of the Applebee's entree a couple of weeks ago. I am trying to learn that just because food is on my plate does not mean I have to est it. My victories have consisted of maintaining for a couple of weeks. It has been Spring break and I have been at home more where it is harder to resist smacking. But I am back to school tomorrow.

Hey everyone.
Sounds like you're all doing well. Those little choices (like leaving the sugared pecans on your plate) can really add up over the long run. Great job cfine. I've been (24 hour) fasting a couple of days a week and finally hit 203 today!!! It's been a tough slog but adding the fasts seems to help in getting me past the sins of the weekends. Hubby and I eat out fridays and sundays and sometimes I'm on plan, sometimes I'm not. But that's real life and if I want to be able to eat this way long term, I have to have a break here and there without it feeling like an international incident. A cool non-scale victory happened today. I was at yoga this morning, my once a week exercise other than walking the dog. A lady who has been out of class for a month told me after class that she can't believe how quickly I've improved in such a short time. Then the instructor took me aside afterward and said the same thing! It was such a day brightener. I also discovered Carolynf's life-altering peanut butter granola recipe. I can have cereal again! If you miss granola, you must give it a try. It's wonderful. You can find the recipe at her blog All Day I Dream About Food. Any LC food blogs you guys enjoy? |

Oh my gosh Mrs S, I LOVE that blog! It's my favorite! She is a food genius. Wtg on the yoga. I love to get compliments.
@amundson. I agree you have to find what works long term. Sven, are you around? Missing you. I have finally gotten myself back into nutritional ketosis. I tested my blood ketones last night. The pounds are coming off quickly right now. Yay me! |

Great job cfine!! I think sven is travelling -- visiting her sister I believe. I am down 1/2 pound. I will take any progress that I can make even if it is very small. My total weight loss is 118 pounds so it is a lot harder to lose. Am not getting to the yoga though, and I really need to start exercising.![]() |

Wow Amundson, I had not noticed your stats! What a great job you've done. I didn't like exercise at first, but I am getting to like it the more I do it.

Wow Amundson! That's a fantastic loss! Very inspiring.
This fasting 24 hours/ twice a week thing is working really well for me. I'm down to 201.8 this morning, down 46lbs which puts me just over halfway to goal. I bobbed around 204-206 for almost 6 weeks before this. It was so discouraging. I'm still doing hf/lc but now I'm not counting calories and can get away with eating out twice on the weekends off plan and still lose (so far). Of course, I've felt this way before so we'll see how long this works for me. But for now, it feels like a pleasant break from the rigidity of calorie counting in addition to everything else. I hope you all have a great weekend! |

Great job MrsS. I know that fasting has wonderful health benefits. I wish I could make myself do it.
I am down to 223.1 that's an all time low for me. |

Had a whoosh this week. After two weeks of no loss and being pretty good I am down to 164. I haven't seen that for over 30 years.

I spent all day yesterday testing, and thus tasting, cupcake, buttercream and ganache recipes as I've been asked to bake for them for a good friend's wedding. (Before LC, I was THE baker among my friends and family for such things.) It's the most sugar and grain I've had since starting LC. I'm scared! Hopefully fasting will help atone for the sins of yesterday because let me tell you, I sinned big time.

I doubt a few bites will do it cfine. You're probably good still.
I don't want to taste another cupcake or any kind of icing for a loooonnnng time. I'm actually grossed out by sugar right now. It's a miracle! |

Lol! That's great. I checked my blood ketones and I am still in NK. So happy about that. I worked so hard to get there that I don't want to blow it.

Checking in. Hope everybody is well. Had a great Passover but ate too many carbs. Oh we'll, it only comes around once a year and I got right back to LCing today.

Good work cfine, back on the wagon. Me too. My cupcakefest ended up adding 2 pounds. Yikes. I'm already back down to .2 over my low so a pretty quick recovery thankfully. I'm just really happy and grateful that the even didn't trigger some old behaviors. In the past, that kind of thing would have meant the end of eating well for months, maybe longer.
How is everyone else doing? |

I hear you MrsS. I weighed in yesterday at 224 but today I am already back down to 223. It was worth the little side track I took but now gotta work extra hard these next few days. The only thing I hate about going off plan is that I see all this food, like French fries and crap, and I really want to eat it. I don't feel that way on plan. Oh well, a couple more days on very low carb should get me back on track.

Good Morning all and Happy Passover to those who celebrated this week. I met my Easter WL goal on Thursday and magically am now down 2 pounds below! This brings me from 230 to 211 in 5.5 weeks, 19 pounds. I can hardly believe it. Now onto my May goal - 10 more pounds. It's going to be a tough month. I'm allowing myself some carbs on Sunday, so we'll see how Monday goes.
