Not much to report, still bouncing around. Still hanging on but not really doing anything. I think I'll be switching back to LC my way in a week or two, gotta keep the body guessing, and it's nice to switch it up so I don't get bored. I miss my hot wings and hot dogs that are too high calorie to eat on JUDDD.

Those crab cakes do sound really good - wish we had fresh seafood around here but we're totally land-locked. Where do you get your crab?
Nanner---well, I certainly welcome both you and trigger back to "Low carb our way." You've probably read my post above, so I'll not repeat myself. Seems like you did pretty well on JUDDD, or at least I didn't hear your struggle w/it. But it does seem a bit like a "diet" to me, and I'm allergic to that word. And yes, whatever keeps us from being bored w/in reason, is what we need to do. Boredom w/what I was eating has always paved my way right off the wagon.

I hope you saw in one of my former posts here today, that I found those Sara Lee hamburger buns you recommended. I'm hoping I can use them occasionally the way I've used the Sara lee lower carb bread. Of course I've got to "try on my new duds" So I'm having a hamburger on a bun tonight. But for 8 carbs, on an already good day, I'm not going to sweat it.

So as I said to Trigger, onward. I so appreciate our little club.

Jaded---I've been meaning to make those cream cheese clouds and you inspired me to try it this weekend. Don't know about the cheese curds thing, hope you get some good ideas.

Well, I had my hamburger on a bun last night. Ha, in fact, I had two, and didn't have the salad I was thinking of making. And they were so delish. I toasted them up w/butter, then burger w/Kens low carb bbq sauce, swiss cheese and a slice of onion.

It cost me 16 carbs on a day I'd had hardly any, so I ended up w/a nice low carb ct of 22 grams for the day, and calories at 1550. Nothing wrong w/that! Also, I feel no cravings for carbs because of the buns. I just feel happy to know I can have a hamburger on a bun now and then. Put the rest of them in the freezer next to my SL bread. This takes that one extra step---thawing--- that helps stop an off plan moment.

One thing this has resolved for me---I'm DONE w/low carb bread recipes. I've made three and they were all barely OK to just plain bad. SL buns and bread taste and feel like bread, and if I'm not going to get that, I'm not going to bother.

Still stuck a bit, at 249 today. Every day I've been telling myself no snacking but it hasn't worked. Tomorrow is the big day (two graduation ceremonies that I'm planning), and I'm going to be there from 7 am to 3 pm. Will be bringing LC snacks tomorrow and not worrying about quantity. They will be providing lunch for the staff working all day but I have no idea what it will be. Probably sandwiches which would be ok, I'll just skip the bread. After tomorrow I'm getting down to serious business. Thinking of ordering a blood ketone meter to see if I'm in nutritional ketosis. I'm trying to eat that way in general but I'm not counting to really know.

Jaded, I searched for "low carb fried cheese curds" and found a few intersting recipes. Might have to actually make some myself! Are you in the midwest too? I never heard of cheese curds until I moved here.

Nanner and Trigger - nothing wrong with reevaluating things if JUDDD isn't working. Low carb our way is a good way to be.

Blue Skies - I have the Sara Lee bread for my DS but have never seen the buns. Would love to find those, will have to keep looking. I don't eat it myself (I don't really miss bread, and have made LC bread only a few times). But I need to get him on a low carb/low glycemic plan and he needs to bring his lunch every day this summer to summer camp.

Misti---I found the SL hamburger and hot dog buns at Wal-mart---they have a huge SL bread section compared to most stores. No one else in town has the buns. Which was tough for me as I usually make it a point not to shop Wal-mart because I don't like the way they treat their employees. But then I figured one Low carb exception could be made---nothing's getting between me and my LC goals. The buns are good and your DS won't even know he's eating something lower carb. And since a regular hamburger bun is around 20 net carbs, at 8 net carbs this is quite an improvement.

Good luck w/your big weekend! I'm glad for you that life will get calmer soon. Been reading a lot lately about cortisol, the hormone that rises when we are stressed. It's known for increasing appetite. That probably doesn't surprise you,
as via your posts I know you've been struggling with this. But don't lose track of the fact that you've done GREAT so far, and you will get back to it. I'm starting to find it a relief to return to my LC woe after a treaty time.

Thanks for the tip about Walmart! I never thought to check their bread section. I go there to buy my Atkins frozen meals (though I stocked up last week when they were only $2 each). I will definitely check it out.

I'm hoping stress/cortisol and the accompanying snacking I've been doing it what's causing this slowdown. I just found out one of the people who is supposed to help me tomorrow was in the ER and has been sent home on bedrest (Does that mean she is pregnant? I have no idea!) So now I have to scramble to find someone to fill her spot. It will be over in less than 24 hours. I have my LC snacks ready to go with me tomorrow... Will get seriously back on track on Sunday.

I did lousey. On track perfect with food. NIGHT time snacked out. UP 1 lb.

holy. plan change killed me. Now I have to break that carb addiction AGAIN. If I had just stayed lower carb on JUDD UP days, I would be fine. BUT OH NO, I had to jump on old higher carb foods nailed me.

So today is eat clean. my lc snacks I had ready for last night, I just passed them buy and jumped on Doritos and some other junk.

OK--mindset must be junk free eating. I gotta buckle it down and get off the craving train

everyone hang in there! sure is a crazy journey.

ugh - Doritos, Cheeto puffs, and potato chips - my latest weakness, and it's killing me. I can feel the water retention from the sodium I'm accumulating, and I feel so bloated. I have to learn that I can't buy them, even for the kids. I get so hungry on the DD and tell myself just a few won't hurt and end up having more than a few. I'm still just 2 lb up from lowest but feels like more.

Oh well, today is an up day and going to niece's graduation party, so that's a good thing. I have to get my LC foods bought before I switch over. I need a switch to get off of these chips - lol.

Hope everyone has a great day - probably won't be back until Monday.

LOL Nanner. you are gravitating toward chips and junk like me

the bloat. yes I feel it also. I have gut troubles happening and I also have that feeling of putting on at least 10 lbs. eating this stuff makes the body feel so much worse. I know!!

HAVE A BLAST at the gradulation and enjoy yourself! then get back on the lc way like I am trying to do have a good time at that party!!

Hi :) Can I join?

Hi all Can I join?
I've been a LCer for many years, all the way from strict Stillman to Atkins but found that I do best when I do it my way. I keep my carbs at 20-30 most days but also include sweet potatoes when I really feel the need for the nutrients, and every now and then an apple.
Of course it's about weight loss but for me, it's even more about feeling better. I had to make a change earlier this week and get back on track. I'm tired of feeling like I'm 100 years old Today is Day 5 and I'm down 7 lbs. It would be more but I actually overate even low carb food yesterday. So today it's back to basics
I went back and read over the posts from the start of the thread. TY for the great posts! I learn so much from the experiences of you all!

Thank you both for the warm welcome! Today I'm going to be fairly strict with my menu. I kept to LC yesterday but I was unusually hungry and overdid it even with LC. Today it's pretty much meat, fish, eggs or cheese And lots of water and unsweetened tea It's only been 5 days since I restarted but I already do feel better and that's what I'm focusing on. Every time I feel like a bit of a cheat food I ask myself if I enjoy feeling better...that has taken care of any issues so far I am such an emotional eater and that's the hardest part for me. Coming here and staying accountable will be a HUGE help!

Welcome Stynger! --- I just joined in over here myself about a month or so ago, and it's my favorite place on this site. Great little group here. And you and I are on the same track, trying for 20 to 30 grams a day---I allow myself up to 35, but often end up between 20 and 30. And yeah, I too have learned those LC foods can add up on the calorie ct, so a couple of weeks ago I had to add calories along w/the carbs to my daily log. Look forward to seeing more of you here.

Nanner & Trigger---Good luck to both of you w/your transition back to low carb our way. Trigger, you'll do this, yes you will. So it takes a couple days to a week to settle back down from all those carb excitations, before you know it you'll be back in the groove. Nanner, oh boy, the LC grocery trip! My wallet wants to hug yours.

Last night I was again out to eat, w/the gal pal I rescheduled with when I couldn't take another night out last week. I ordered clean---we split a shrimp appetizer, then I had a blue cheese wedge salad, blackened pork tenderloin and teriyaki beans. I knew the beans would cost me carbs, turned out to be about 14, but I still came in under 30 grams for the day.

But boy, did I make a mistake ordering that blackened pork. It was super salty and not very good. I only ate half of it, but I felt SO full I was sure when I came home and logged all the carbs and calories I would be way over. But I wasn't as it turns out. Still, 2 pounds up this morning. I know it's water weight from all that salt, and I'm drinking lots of water to flush it out.

Still, it's been a really up and down couple of weeks. Tired of the bounce, seems like I've lost the same 2 pounds 4 times! Frustrating, and I know we've all been there.

Have a good eating day all planned out, fingers crossed a NEW stick on the scale is right around the corner.

This at some point starts to drive me insane. the sodium from eating out, no matter most times how much you watch what goes in your mouth, happens!!

THEN it triggers that stupid 2-3 lb bounce. over and over again. that losing and gaining the same 2-3 lbs over the course of 2-3 weeks etc. is what can push me over the edge

I have been doing it for about 20 days now.

I am on strict eating today. I feel like I am 'back in the zone!' I got that underlying feeling I can get thru this day good. I am experimenting a bit!!! Oh yea. I will tell ya tomorrow if it works LOL I expect a nice drop on the scale tomorrow (providing I can end the day in good order)

StyngerIsAScorpio! Please join in!

Nanner and Trigger - hope your transition back to LC smooths out soon. However you both have made me feel better about eating a few of my son's cheese puff balls this afternoon!

Blue Skies - sorry your pork wasn't great. It stinks to eat out then get something not so good.

The gradaution ceremonies are over (no party for me - I just plan them and work at them). So my stress level should be down by tomorrow. I didn't touch the boxed lunch they had for us - a sandwich (turkey or a couple other kinds) on a huge ciabatta roll, a red delicious apple (didn't even like those when I ate apples), potato chips and a cookie. Not enough meat on the sandwich to make it worth pulling apart. Here's what I've eaten so far today:

B - Atkins Advantage milk chocolate shake
L -Atkins Day Break creamy chocolate shake, Atkins Day Break Chocolate Hazelnut Bar, beef stick (glad I planned ahead and brought LC items with me)
Snack/Dinner - salami slices, cottage cheese, almonds, few cheese puff balls, diet Arizona Arnold Palmer iced tea/lemonade mix (2 g carbs)...probably more still to come.....

The good news is I was down below 248 this morning, so I hope the trend continues.

Touching base!

Hi all, just touching base Compared to yesterday when I wanted to eat anything LC I could get my hands on, my hunger today is minimal. I've kept well under my limit so far and have some turkey in the crockpot...I've had a bit of cheese, some low sodium deli ham ( not the best but it's what I like), unsweetened iced tea, water.... I had an epic fail with the juicer attachment on my Magic Bullet...I wanted to try beet juice to see if it lowers my BP a bit. The juicer did not work, so I'm going to forego the juice till a few days before my next doc appointment on the 29th...I don't need the carbs anyway, but if it does work, I'd rather do the beet juice than take any meds. I'm not a meds person.
I did think I burned up the Bullet so after I cleaned up the mess I made, I put a few ounces of almond milk and two strawberries with Truvia in the regular cup and tried it again. Seems the machine is ok and man! that strawberry mini smoothie was good!
I hope everyone is having a great weekend! I'm off to check out some food porn and the recipes...
Thanks so much for the warm welcome. Coming here and being with like minded people is great!

Now that is

yea I need food also. 500 cal. days can't happen for me, ON DEMAND. sure there are days I barely eat but then it is just by no hunger. but on demand my mind rebelled big time.

BEET juice I hear is wonderful for the old body. I just was reading up on that actually. on the net I was finding good info on it. one of the top 5 superfoods.

I'm going to have to come up with a new way to juice beets...not sure I want to invest in an actual juicer...that's my project...figure out a way to be cheap and healthy LOL
It's a gray, chilly, rainy evening here and I think I'm going to get under the covers and watch some TV till I fall asleep. I hope you all have a great night

Sunday!

Hi all I feel like I'm already posting too much here LOL I talk this much in real life too!
This morning I was down again! Yay! That's a total of 9 lbs. since Tuesday! I had a wicked night...for some reason I couldn't fall asleep and when I got up at 5 am I had a toothache...grrrr....took some ibuprofen and went back to bed for several more hours. My day is now off kilter.... I had tons of things on my to do list...I'll get done what I can....the toothache is gone but I feel like I've been pulled through a knothole backwards lol...
My main goal today is to start going through all the smaller size clothes I have...I don't want to spend money on clothes if I already have tons here. I swear it looks like a jeans factory in my bedroom

What's to eat today....
Cheesy crust faux pizza
Leftover crockpot turkey
Mixed greens and arugula salad
Sugar free jello

I hope everyone is having a great Sunday so far

YAY! Another pound hits the dust. I think the relief of having this big project over is going to help a lot, Misti. I know I always make better decisions, in everything, when my shoulders aren't attached to my ears from stress. I find stress increases my tendency to obsess, about anything, including food.

YEPPERS, WS! Super restrictive and rigid is like a big old shoot right off the wagon for me. But it's surprising how well I can do when I offer myself a little rope. Often I don't take it, but as long as I'm choosing that, I'm fine.

What we learn about ourselves by trying something is always a good thing, imo, whether what we tried worked or not. I think your "ON DEMAND" statement describes so well what you learned. As I said above, I'm the same way.

Congrats on another down day! Do get that tooth checked out though, even if the pain is gone for now. My experience is tooth pain is always trying to tell you something, even if it goes away---before it comes back w/a vengeance. Oye, the only thing I've ever experienced that was a painful as child birth was a very infected tooth. I'd had a few warnings about it I ignored when the pain subsided. And then---well enough said. Sorry to sound like the mom I am.

So today that 2 pound water gain is gone, and I saw that "new" number for the second time---not to mention, I just feel better. So what is my husband making for dinner? Corned beef and cabbage! Saltarama! My mom's coming for dinner, and it's one of her favorites, so I'm happy he's making it for her. My game plan is to make myself a lovely salad and have just a small side of the Corned beef/cabbage. Which won't be hard for me as while I like it, I don't love it.

My thought for the day? Got. To. Have. A. Plan.

eating alot cleaner now and dropping all that nasty bloat/water weight etc. that crept on and made me feel like I gained 15 lbs overnight

Today food is:

fast food on the road, small order chicken roasted bites (yea more sodium, I know) This is a fried everything and biscuit joint. it was all I could eat LOL)

1/2 cup tuna, some pepperoni slices

grapes
black, blue and straw. berries

dinner tonight is grilled chicken with grilled veg with butter. A TON of veg.
I am eating about 7:30/8 pm. I noticed the later I go the no snacking I do at night.

Trigger, sounds like you're really getting back in the "Low Carb Our Way" zone! And Oh yeah, eating an early dinner does not work for me---seems like a whole day after dinner if I do, as I'm something of a night owl and rarely go to bed before midnight. I do best if I eat lunch around noon to one, and dinner about 7 or 7:30 w/a small snack between if needed.

It is amazing how much more successful we can be when we do what we know works for us. Bodies certainly aren't one-size-fits-all Kudos to everyone for working their plan!

My food plan has changed a bit...

I ate two eggs and some bacon.... I needed something quick and easy.
The crust for the Cheesy Faux Pizza is made and waiting for me to load it and broil it later.
I did have some of my crockpot turkey...
I was in the mood to do a little experimenting so I divided the recipe for the Fruit Pizza.... the only fruit I have are strawberries, but I had the almond flour etc.
I did the dessert because I know I am going to want something sweet later...and I'm not into having the SF jello again tonite.
I just need to keep it to one portion!
As long as I don't feel deprived, I'm good
Subbing out LC things for my old time favorites is a plan I have to work as well. Some of them, there is no LC sub, so I just have to pull up my big girl pants and get over it, but there are lots of ways to carb it down....
I might make some low carb coleslaw later and some caulitaters....If I have that stuff handy for the week I'm less apt to binge when I get home from work.
Keep having a great day, all

OK gals, I'm kind of excited. I just got back from a LC treasure hunt! I'm always on the look out for new little taste treats that work on this woe, to keep the variety hoppin'. See if any of these work for you.

I'm most pleased w/the So Delicious coconut milk ice cream I picked up. (I got Vanilla bean, no sugar added---watch for that little label as some have sugar) Had a taste when I got home, YUM. 8 NCs for a half cup. I can easily do w/1/4 cup as I'm not a big ice cream head. Then I picked up some coconut crisps to sprinkle on the top. A little scoop of that w/a drizzle of caramel Toriani's I'm thinking will be a great late night snack when there must be one. I think this will also be great w/blackberries, which I love.

I got some roasted pepitas, which are so crispy and good, to sprinkle on top of eggs, chicken salad and salads. And I picked up some lightly salted whole almonds. Of course, the trick w/this sort of thing is too enjoy just a small palmful. But I'm pretty good at that. As long as it's not say, a baguette, I don't do too badly w/moderation.

I also picked up some "brown tomatoes." Never heard of them before, but the Trader Joe's guy said they had a very robust flavor. Will try them on my salad tonight.

Then I did get a naughty thing, but it's for a treat day. Trader Joes has these French pizzas called Taste of Alsace by Maitre Pierre. I get the ham, carmelized onions and Gruyere. It's a flat bread pizza, and the crust is really more like a pastry, very thin and flakey. Out of this world, bought them once before and sliced then up as appetizers. They are smaller than a reg pizza, w/26 grams for a half of one. So a bit high, but not bad on an otherwise very LC day, for a treat lunch, or even a whole one for a dinner treat. Won't happen often, but lucky me when it does.

So those are my goodies for today. Good Lord, you'd think I'd just been shopping at Tiffany's.

Blue you are just like me.

It DOES seem like an entire day for the evening if I eat early.
I am also up til 12-1am easily every night

2 peas in a pod.

yup, eating later is finally my solution because my idea was 'stop eating by X time'--eh, didn't work for me as a night owl

MAN I WISH I had a trader joes around me. nope. Sounds like you hit goal in that shopping trip! lucky you!!!

Stynger, I am the same. As long as I really feel no deprivation I can do this. once I feel that hit, then I waiver. good for you to plan and plan more
