L&A getting back into the swing of things-February!

Getting back into the swing of things: I lost 30lbs last summer by doing "metabolism miracle" it was a fantastic lc diet. You should google it to learn more if you haven't heard of it. As I learned of some health problems, the emotional eater in me reared its ugly head and I gained all of the weight back.

I had a surgery on jan 25 and lost 10lbs prior to the surgery. I think I might be carrying some water weight from surgery (initially it added 10lbs back) this morning I was down 5lbs from surgery water weight. I took a week off of LC during the first week of recovery and was eating fairly healthy but the last couple of days I've found myself eating cookies and high carb foods. So, yesterday I started back to LC and my goal is to be down 50lbs by jun 30 which is 2 days before my bday.

I am also limited in exercise for a few weeks but can start light walking soon.

I am excited to get back in the swing of things and really get in shape and lose the weight. The surgery really changed my perspective on my life and health.

Well didn't have dinner yet but did well today. I'm making sure I'm eating every 5 hours. I haven't been able to move much due to surgery but the dr encouraged me to do light walking. I did about a block or 2 today.

Hopefully I can begin exercising more with walking longer distance/time.

Let's see if I can remember my meals
B: Atkins shake and coffee with hh
L: chicken salad sand on 1 slice of Lc bread
S: 3 meatballs, almonds and cheese. Coffee with hh
D: yet to be determined

Really need to stop eating lc bread for awhile

I've drank a lot of water today!

Hi, Liz!

I really need this. I've been slowly on the upswing for a while. Not sure how much I have gained because I don't have my scale unpacked (we moved last fall), but I'm growing out of all my clothes. :doh: Not good. Time to get serious.

Today was a total mess for me. Not worth writing it all down. I'll be starting tomorrow with LC.

I'll check out the Metabolism Miracle. Sounds interesting!

I saw your fb message about your surgery and all that. So scary! I'm glad you are doing well and that you are finding some positive elements to the situation. Is the surgery going to take care of it, or will there be chemo or other treatments in the future?

As far as further treatment, I will find out at a post op appt on thur. It's unlikely that I will need further treatment, but as of know its undetermined. I will keep you posted!

I know you are super busy and are not posting much now, but I'm just sitting around at the moment so hopefully my excessive posts don't drive you crazy! :)

I think I will post my weight each Monday. Eeek! I do feel it helps me with accountability. I weigh daily to just make sure the numbers are moving in the right direction. I remember the batteries in my scale last fall/winter went out and I didn't change them until jan, I picked up weight because I wasn't keeping track of my weight and just emotional eating. I do get a wake up call when I see numbers on the scale. It just seems to motivate me and keep me accountable.

I hope you dig out your scale and join me. :)

Ok. So here's what I ate today.

B: coffee w/cream and coconut oil.
S: almonds
L: beef broth with some noodles (my tummy was acting up and the ham rollups I brought for lunch made me queasy at the thought)
D: eggs and sausage

Lunch wasn't lc, but I didn't have many options.

How are you doing today?

Hello there! Good job for getting started and not going off the rails like I would if I had some carbs for lunch!!

B: Atkins breakfast bowl ( freezer meal found at wal mart)
L: 1slice lc bread with spinach and chick salad
D: chicken and veggies
S: cheese, Atkins shake

How did your appointment go? Good I hope.

What LC bread do you use? I have used Alvaredo Street Flax bread without too much issue before. I try to not stay away from it when I'm trying to really lose, though.

Here's today's food for me"

B: coffee w/ cream, 1 hard boiled egg
L: egg salad made w/ cream cheese
D: pork tenderloin, green beans

So far so good. I might have something for dessert. Don't know yet.

Appt went well!!

I use that same bread I believe. I get it from TJs. I try to limit it. I think I have 2 slices left. Not sure if I will buy another loaf.

Your egg salad with cream cheese sounds fantastic. How do you make it?

I'm still losing a lb a day. I'm sure it's the water weight from surgery. I'm still 4lbs heavier than I was going into surgery.

B: Atkins shake
L: salad with grilled chicken
D: Atkins shake and meatballs
S: lc toast with butter.

I notice you don't snack much. I really need to work on that!

For the egg salad I just mixed up the hard boiled eggs with soft cream cheese instead of mayo. It was good. I got the idea because I used to eat kavli crackers spread with cream cheese and sliced boiled egg on top. It's basically the same w/o the crackers.

I've been using coconut oil in my coffee in the mornings and I think that helps with reducing my appetite. .

I didn't eat much today. Here is my menu. I definitely need to drink more water.

B: coffee with HH and Atkins shake
L: double double pro style
D: beef with broccoli.

I didn't get much activity today. I really need to walk more but didn't feel too good this morning and started feeling better in the late afternoon.

L: 2 scrambled eggs w/ ham and cream cheese
D: tuna patties

I wasn't thrilled with the way my tuna patties turned out. May go for something else later.

I think I'm already in ketosis. I'm having stonger body odor and my appetite seems to be decreasing. I couldn't finish my eggs at lunch and wasn't all that hungry for dinner. I think the coconut oil is helping with ketosis. I've read that it will do that.

What is the HH you said you had with your coffee?

Happy Saturday! I did the coconut in my coffee this morning. Was so oily on top that I only had a few sips. I noticed after a few minutes it settles.... But my coffee is cold. How do you get over the oiliness? :)

I stir it up a lot.:D. It bothered me some in the beginning, but I'm used to it now. I want to try to make chocolate bark with it, just haven't gotten to the store for cocoa powder yet. I want to try it in smoothies, too.

For now I've just been putting it in my coffee or tea. I'm only taking about a tsp per day right now because my stomach getz upset if I have much more than that. Working my way up to the recommended dose of 3 Tbs a day.

Wow 3 tbs a day is a lot!! I need to wrk up to that also.

Today I went to Lafayette red our and walked 3 miles in about an hour. I'm 15 days post surgery where 2 weeks ago I couldn't walk without a walker. I'm very proud but might have overdone it. I want go exercise and dr cleared me for light walking not sure what that means exactly.

Today was interesting in the food dept. almost went off plan tonight because we had panned to go out for dinner and there was a prob at rest (long story) I was starving and was just gonna eat anything but thankfully I knocked some sense in my head.

B: protein bar coffee with hh and coconut oil
L: chicken and avocado
D: chicken burrito bowl
Water and had 1 diet coke.

Sorry I didn't get back in yesterday with my menu. We went to see Les Mis and didn't get home until late.

Brunch: coffee w/ cream and CO, crepe-like eggs w. cinnamon cream cheese filling (recipe I found in the recipe room) It was really good!
D: double double prot. style
S: lc quesadilla (1 lc tortilla)

We really enjoyed to movie. Avoided the popcorn and snacks completely.

Today isn't going as well, diet-wise, as yesterday. Sundays at church there are always lots of snacks and they are usually carby. I was running late this morning and didn't have a chance to have anything except coffee, so when I got to my class and they were having a valentine's party (that I forgot about) I was really hungry and ate some stuff I shouldn't have. 1 pc baked french toast and 3 chocolate covered strawberries. :doh: Planning on keeping the rest of the day very lc to try to minimize the damage.

I loved Le Mis! Sorry to hear about the slip up. Ive had my fair share and I prob will have more in the future.

No exercise today. Overdid it yesterday. Might do light walking tomorrow.

Ok, so I managed to do well the rest of the day, yesterday.

B: coffee w/ cream, scrambled eggs
S: almonds
L: almonds (forgot my lunch at home and just ate what I had a work)
D: ham and cheese rollup on lc tortilla

Les Mis was great! Heart breaking, but wonderful! I learned so much more of the story from the movie than I knew from seeing the stage show on tv.

How were things for you today?

Hello! Weigh In day didn't go we'll. I've been hanging onto weight for a few days. I weigh daily bc it keeps me but like to see what my weekly losses are, therefore the weekly weigh in. At lunch and dinner I decided to up the carbs which resulted in a tiny loss this morning

B: egg scramble
L: protein bar
D: tacos
S: slice lc toast with pb

I really should give up the lc bread and stuff but .... Well I guess I just like it too much.

Did you do ok on lunch? Not too hungry ?

Yeah, I did ok with lunch yesterday. I ate some almonds at 10:30 and then some more at 1:00 and drank lots of fluids, so I was fine. Hungry for dinner, though. :D

I'm glad you had a loss. Great work! :high5: I'm still working on finding my scale, so I don't know yet how it's going in terms of lbs. I'm feeling pretty good, though and I think my clothes are a little looser.

D: chicken tacos on LC tortillas

I have a hard time giving up the lc bread and stuff, too. I know I rely on them too much, but they are better than the high carb stuff. That's my philosophy, anyway. :agree:

Hi there! Sorry I'm slacking on posting my menu from day before... Will be better! I need to give up that lc bread.... I eat too much of it. I have one slice at a time. But I'm becoming dependent on it and I really should introduce it later when I've knocked off more weight. I'm not very active right now.

D: chicken
S: leftover taco mix no taco. Just meat.

Oh and have you been surviving the valentines treat temptations? Thankfully I'm not at work to be tempted however a coworker offered to deliver me cupcakes. I felt guilty saying no but I just thanked her and said it was too far for her to drive. Then I thought about making treats to give out but I know myself...I wouldn't be able to stay away. :(

Today I walked about 2.1miles. Was pretty tired after. Still recovering from the surgery but need to get some exercise in.

L: Atkins frozen meal
D: tacos
S: yogurt
Water all day.

I'm doing well avoiding the treats so far. They have been abundant in my office, and about to get worse. My boss set out a table for the stuff she is going to bring tomorrow. :doh: Wish me luck.

It's great that you are already getting your exercise in. I'm impressed!

I wanted something sweet, so I blended up some cream with s/f vanilla syrup and peanut butter. :yummy:

I'm going to try to keep exercising. It exhausts me but dr encourages me to walk to expedite the healing! I think I need to take it slow though. :dunno:
