Hi. Just checking in. I was wondering how you are doing with LC? I still find myself curious and wondering about other diets (WW) I think im the only person on the planet who hasn't tried WW!
I do like MM ( metabolism miracle) but need to read up more and get into it. I lost a ton of weight last spring doing it. I just find I have a hard time moving from phase 1 to phase 2. Similar to how I struggle moving up the rungs on Atkins. I think I get too comfortable.

So just wanted to check in to see where your head was!

Have a great Friday and a fantastic weekend!

My Valentine's Day was ok. Generally it was frustrating because of all the junk at work (I felt like I was denying myself all day long) and because dh got called in to work and had to stay until 9:45. We didn't have plans to go out, but I was looking forward to a nice evening in. I really wanted to dig in to the cookies I took home for the kids, but I was good. I even avoided the s/f cake my MIL made for the kids.

Yesterday:
B: coffee w/ cream and CO
S: 2mini blueberry muffins
L: bunless ultimate cheeseburger
S: 1 chocolate dipped marshmallow
D: spaghetti (dreamfields)

Doing better today. Keeping carbs really low to try to minimize damage from yesterday.

I'm comfortable with LC and I trust the science behind it. After reading Good Calories Bad Calories, I don't think I'd ever go back to LF. I've not done a structured diet other than Atkins, but I like how I feel when I'm in ketosis and the reduced appetite from it. I don't do well when I have to go hungry (because I've used all my points or whatever) and I really like that I can eat full fat stuff that are no-nos on other plans. Also, I'm not really a track your calories, fat grams (or carbs for that matter) person. I just like to know what I can eat and stay with those foods. I don't have the time or mental energy to put into that kind of thing.

That said, if you are bored with LC and want to try something else, go for it! It might work better for you. And if it doesn't, you tried.

Thanks for your perspective. I actually like LC. I think we are similar in our thinking. I guess sometimes I wonder If I'm missing out on WW since so many enjoy it. But I'm a die hard LC believer for many reasons.

Sorry to hear about your v day with hubby

Good morning and Happy Saturday!

Last night I went out to dinner with my bf and his family. It's a long story but his grandpa changed where he wanted to eat at last min and wanted to order in so we met my bf aunt at restaurant. I didn't find out until we were in the car the change of plans. We ended up at a pizza and pasta rest.... UGH!
While we waited for our food we all had a glass of wine. It's been a long time since I've had a glass of wine. I think it caused cravings.....because I was craving sweets. I told my bf I wanted choc covered pretzels and thank goodness he didn't stop for them or I would have eaten a whole bag.

No weight change on the scale this morning.

B: hb egg with coffee with hh and coconut oil
L: 2tacos
D: chicken and wine.
S: Atkins shake
Water and diet root beer.

I just watched a documentary called "fat head" I found a post about it in main lobby. There is a video in the thread. It's about an hour and a half long. I really enjoyed watching it. You might enjoy it as well.

2//18/13 weekly weigh in

Down 3lbs this week. I think it could have been more if I didn't have that little slip up on fri night.
But I will take the 3 lbs!!!

Hi. Congrats on the loss! That's great. I still need to find the time to do a search for my scale and find out how I am doing. It helps me stay on track.

Sorry I've been MIA. I've been super busy. We were out with the fam on Friday, lots to do on Saturday and Sundays are always packed. Let's see if I can remember 3 days worth of food.

Friday:
B: scrambled eggs, coffee w/ cream and C/O
L: mock danish
D: tacos

Dinner was at Rubios. I ended up eating the corn torillas. Better than flower tortillas, not not the best choice.

Saturday:
B: eggs, coffee w/ cream and C/O
L: cottage cheese, hummus, celery
D: full of bad choices

I had a moms group meeting and we had a breakfast food potluck. So, there was sweet crepes, savory crepes, quiche, baked pancakes, muffins, etc. I tried to stay away from the breads and stuck with the egg based stuff, but it was still way too many carbs.

Sunday:

B: coffee w/ cream, banana nut bread (not LC I avoided the bagels that were my other option, though)
L: grilled cheese (on lc bread)
D: broccoli cheddar soup
S: greek yogurt w/pb

I really need to get myself planning ahead better for these situations that come up. I'm pulled off-plan too easily. I need to do better if I'm going to lose. *sigh*

I'm glad you were able to do well at the restaurant (in spite of the wine) and didn't end up with the choc pretzels. That would have made it harder to stay on plan.

Oh, about Fathead, I just found that book when I was going through my stuff the other day. I know I read it a while back, but I was thinking about reading it again. Watching the documentary is a good idea, too. Thanks!

Hi there! Was getting worried about you. I know how hard it is to plan. I've been there and find it extremely hard especially when traveling.

I am lucky now to be on loa so my planning is good. I'm worried when I go back to work though. I don't work from an office but travel from store to store. Makes it hard to pack lunch. I need I keep snacks in my car.

I found some Atkins frozen meals at Walmart neighborhood store. They don't have them at my reg Walmart. I bought some and tried them. Not bad. Have a lot of sodium. I did stock up in case of emergencies and to have when I go back to work. Have you seen them or tried them yet?

Today I walked 2.8 mi on free motion. I have a little pain so I might try to slow down on exercise

B: Mexican meatloaf and hb egg. Coffee with HH and co
L: Atkins shake
D: Mexican meatloaf and artichoke
(Gonna be eating this meatloaf for a few days)
Water All day.

I've been been hearing about the Atkins meals. I need to take a trip to walmart and see if I can find them. They would be handy for work and emergencies.

Yesterday's food:

B: eggs, coffee w/ cream
L: strawberry smoothie w/ greek yogurt & CO
S: cheese
D: chicken strips, cheese sticks, a few onion rings

I need to get my water consumption up. Not getting nearly enough.

I bought a camelback cup thing. It's 24oz of water. I try to drink 3 or 4 of those a day. I need to drink more water too!

I know you can't find scale but do you know how many lbs or pant sizes you want to drop?

I'm going for about 30-40 lbs by July. I need to be diligent. I'm afraid when I go back to work it will be hard.

I'm sure that by the time you go back to work you will have had a good foundation laid and you will be fine.

B: coffee w/ cream & CO, almonds
L: greek yogurt
D: dreamfields w/ alfredo sauce

Ok so sounds like we have about the same amount to lose which will mean we are in this for the long haul!

Your menu today looks light. Are you not too hungry?

I did my walk today. Was gonna take the night off but decided to go around 730p. It was crowded. Trying to figure out how I'm gonna fit exercise in when I go back to work. Evening was packed at the gym tonight. I've been going late morning/afternoon and thought that was pretty busy but wow. The 7p hour was packed. I barely found a parking space.

B: hb egg coffee with hh and co
L: tortilla with pb and strawberries
D: broccoli cheese chic casserole
S: salami and cheese. Few straw
Water all day.

You are doing great wit all your workouts! I'm impressed. Maybe home exercise will be a better option when you go back to work.

It was a light day. I wasn't all that hungry. I'm getting hungry now, though. It's too late to eat, so I'm going to bed.

I want to make the most out of my gym membership so I think I will try to go still. I just need to pick a good time. I was thinking either early morning (5:30am) GASP! Or late evening like 830 or 9. Not sure how either will work but I need to continue the exercise.

Thank you. I've never been good at exercise but after my health scare I need to get serious!!!

Have a great day today!

I did pretty well today. Stressful day at work, but didn't go for junk food to deal with it.

B: coffee w/ cream & CO,
S: greek yogurt
L: palak paneer
D: eggs & LC toast

I've been eating a lot of eggs lately. Getting a little tired of them. I think I need to mix things up a little or I'm going to get bored. Time for grocery shopping.

Working on getting more water in today. Trying to reduce my sodas, too.

S: almonds, tea
D: spicy pork roast w/ sour cream, water

I'm wanting something to eat right now, but not sure what I'll have. *sigh* nighttime cravings

B: coffee w/ cream, greek yogurt
L: herb & cream cheese omelet, diet coke
S: almonds
D: tacos on lc tortillas, tea w/ CO

I'm trying oil pulling, now. I know it's supposed to have all kinds of wonderful health effects, but I'm mostly interested in the dental benefits. Teeth whitening and reduction of inflammation and infection. Ever since I had two of my wisdom teeth removed a couple years ago. I've had occasional aching in my jaw. I've suspected that some infection had set in, but the dentist said the antibiotics would have taken care of that. It's been getting worse, and I don't have insurance any more, but I have to do something. I'll keep thou updated about how it does.

Have you ever done oil pulling?

I actually just started oil pulling the other day. I find it awkward at first and prob can go for about 5-7 min at a time. I am not very consistent with it. Not sure if I will keep up with it. Let me know how it goes and what you think!

B: Atkins shake
L: salad with chicken
D: went to a buffet (gross) steak shrimp broccoli and salad

Have a great Sunday!

Tomorrow is weigh in day for me. I was down but I'm up 2lbs since Saturday. Not sure why???

I find that I do better with oil pulling, can do it longer, if I'm doing something else at the same time. Like reading or checking this site or facebook or something like that to get my mind off it.

Yesterday:

B: coffee w/ cream & CO
L: grilled ham and cheese on flax bread
S: gouda
D: chicken and brocolli w/ alfredo sauce
S: s/f chocolate pudding

Haven't had dinner yet tonight, so I'll try to get on later to post today's menu.

I was reading some people do the oil pulling in the shower I thought that is a good idea. At least get 10 min of oil pulling in that way. I don't like how my mouth feels after. I also had a hard time drinking co and now I do that daily so it's just a consistency thing for me.

I will try to remember to post the days I oil pull

B: Atkins shake coffee with almond milk and co
L: chicken burrito bowl ( I had pinto beans but just a tiny bit)
D: veggie and meat and cheese platter
Water all day.

Walked at Lafayette resovoir about 3mi today.

2/25/13 weigh in day

Good morning! Happy Monday

I don't know what happened with those 2lbs I gained sat but I've lost them today so I'm down 2lbs for the week. I wish it was a bigger loss but a loss is a loss. I've been eating a lot of cheese and I wonder if that is contributing to the minimal loss. I've been walking but nothing strenuous so I don't think it's the exercise with increase in muscle.

Hi. I found this on the playground! Molly Bloom is who write it. Sounds like she knows a lot. You could search posts by her and see if you come up with any good stuff! I thought I would share this with you!

Fellow Oil Pullers.....sigh, I just love this.

It was my group on a natural health forum that actually made OP explode on the internet. I read this very small paragraph in a book by Andreas Moritz, a Ayurvedic guru, and decided to start a forum on Curezone. The forum is still going very strong over 4+ years later. My forum posters have spread it far and wide in sites all over the world. We could barely find any info on it back then. I have even been contacted by the famous Col. Rao who yelled at me because I was suggesting using other oils than sesame and sunflower.

So, after years of diving into this subject I have come up with a theory as to why this works. This after talking extensively with a good friend of my father's, a noted chemical biologist.

Your mouth is a breeding ground of bacteria. Little infections and plaque and tartar. While this bacteria grows, you swallow it. The bacteria in turn attacks your organs. My Dad's friend believes that the acids in the oils attract the bacteria, which you spit out. That the acids work better than conventional alcohol washes. Removing that bacterial load from your mouth everyday is what causes people to feel healthier, and of course plaque and tartar are melted away.

I really do believe that there is sublingual absorption of the good properties of the oil as well. I came up with that theory reading pharmaceutical patents for sublingual medication. They all have an acid as a transporter, like oleic, etc. But this is just a theory. People have reported enhancements to their skin, hair and nails over and over again.

One of our former posters, Bruce Fife wrote a book on Oil Pulling. It's a pretty good book, but I am not supporting him. He stole everything from our forum and Earthclinic, and quoted our posters without asking permission, nor giving the website any creds.

So, if you all want to ask me ANYTHING about OP, I'm here. I've seen it all, heard it all.

I'm OPing right now as I'm typing this! And yes Col Rao, I'm using Sesame Oil dude.

Does my heart good to see this. Everyone should OP. It's almost crazy not to for the health of your teeth.
