Hi, Danielle, welcome back!!

Yesterday's DD went pretty well, I'm easing back into things. Fasting is bringing my anxiety back with it...not sure what to do about that! I'm taking some supplements (not beer ) to try to counteract it a bit.

Sort of moving back to the LC side of the street, too, as I mentioned before the end of the world didn't happen.

I want to have fun and be kind to myself this challenge.

Question: Does anyone else here substitute eating for cleaning the house? I mean, when my house is cluttered, I eat too much. When my house is tidy and organized, I don't so much get the munchies. Discuss.

Lynne

P.S. I enjoyed gaining back 10 pounds, but I sort of wish I hadn't now.

Lynne, I don't even know how many pounds I gained, I don't plan to get on the scale till 01/17!!

Anyone can join! My goal by spring, well, how about 164! That would put me 2 under what I was before Christmas.....

Ultimate goal for 2013 --- 154! Which would be total GOAL for me

I was just thinking about this the other day. I don't know if it's a direct substitution, but when the house is clean and I'm buzzing around staying on top of everything I also tend to stay on top of my eating. Now if I could only figure out how to stay that way 365 days a year!

I've put a tad back on, too... I'm back to within a pound or two of my siggy weight, though, so will leave it for now & weigh tomorrow morning. I got back on track last Thursday so have had a bit of a head start after my Christmas Carb Fest.

Deb. I'm doing JUDDD, alternate day fasting. I like to fast at least most of the down day, not counting half and half in my coffee of course.

Monica, I haven't figured out what my ultimate poundage goal will be for 2013. I was getting pretty happy with my looks and my lightness in the 150's. I don't like how weighed down I feel in the high 160's. I wonder how I managed to drag around 215-245 lbs for all those years??

Tami, I wonder what's up with the clutter/munchies relationship? But as I get closer to my goal weight, I think I'm going to have to solve all the weird issues with food I've got simmering under the surface. The clutter factor is just one of the many problems I've tried to solve with food, unsuccessfully.

Deb!

I can't wait for TBL it feels like it's been eons since it's aired! Jillian's back and I am so happy!!

Hmmmmmmm goal for spring.......

Well I can say before I got the nasty mean ole new scale I was at 228.5..the new one now says I am at 235-somethin... ...yes, high drama for several days over this lemme tell ya!

So for a while there I actually thought I'd be sitting somewhere new Onederland by spring time.. not so much now I don't think? .. so, on that note, I'll say 219 will be my goal for this challenge. Not too shabby, I suppose?

Lynne~ today I have had a case of the hungries... I have been staying busy cleaning and cleaning some more... finding it funny that I complained about having the kids underfoot but finding gratefulness in the fact that it's keeping me busy picking up after them.
I am back to the freezing mode too so something is workin!

I'm sorry you get anxiety! What on earth is the correlation with fasting and that?

....did someone say beer!!!!!

Does the clutter bother you? Are you otherwise a type A neat freak? I am, but get overwhelmed with my house pretty quickly and that sense of being overwhelmed makes me just say 'screw it', which of course makes matters worse! Sigh. For me I think it's mostly an overall feeling of control. Control over myself, my food, my space, etc. When I've got it "all" under control I just cruise right along and each thing seems to compliment the other. Sound familiar? Or No? I fully accept I could just be a total weirdo and I know I have issues! lol Could munching be a stalling tactic for you? I can see that happening... walk into kitchen thinking you're going to start cleaning when suddenly you're hungry? Hmmm... what's in the fridge?

When I went back to school I had to give up some of the control to housecleaning, meal prep, etc.. after doing it for years and years it was hard to let go..that created lots of anxiety for me that created the need to munch mindless I think. And now things are changing again with me not going back to school so I'm resuming everything again.. praying it all goes ok

Kinda like associating social events with food and license to eat whatever, I think I associated a clean house with my eating plan too..clean house = sticking to plan perfectly...so no, Tami, you're not a weirdo. Well, if you are, then so am I

Good morning all! I had a decent Up day yesterday. Could have been better, but could have been MUCH MUCH worse!

How far do you run Deb?? I used to be a runner. My thing was 1/2 marathons! Multiple injuries sidelined me, now I just walk 5 miles a day, 5 X a week!

Our house, I like kept neat. I am not type A though...that's my husband! I have tried to let him know, stressing over the kids rooms....it's not worth the effort. He is slowing coming to that conclusion. My rule, no FOOD in your room and nothing on the floor. If the dresser/desk area gets too bad, then they have to do something. Oh and twice a month, sweep the floors and dust everything. It's a compromise, but seems to work. I don't lose sleep over it. Life's too short....now Dennis, he isn't there at all yet!

Good morning everyone!!

The weather has been beautiful here on the coast the last few days, but it couldn't last. Here come the raindrops again.

Tami, I think with me the clutter/munchies thing has more to do with taking care of myself.

I noticed that I felt really good when I tidy and make beautiful the parts of my house that are just for me - my bedroom, my bathroom - that nobody else sees. And when I feel really good about those "hidden" parts of the house that are all mine, I don't so much feel the need to eat treats to make myself feel good. So I think I eat to take care of myself, as a sort of "fix-all" self-care treatment.

Deb, I am in awe of your long sleep. And how great it is to have all those stairs to give you "accidental" exercise!!

Gavin and I (Gavin is my 8 year old) went to the Yaquina Head lighthouse the other day, the tallest lighthouse on the Oregon coast, and hiked up all the stairs to the top. Great exercise, those stairs!

Danielle, before the holidays hit, you were losing weight like nobody's business!! I'll bet you hit 199 by spring. Our friend JUDDD just LOVES you.

Monica, your "kid's bedroom solution" seems so wise to me. I'm learning to "choose my battles", too, but I've got much less experience than those of you with older kids.

Me... I had a reasonable UD yesterday, and am on my way to a good DD today. No more hard core for me!!

Take care everyone!!

Lynne

P.S. I'm staying off the scale for a while, too.

Lynne~ Thanks for the vote of confidence but I highly doubt I will see 199 by the end of this challenge..I WISH. The new scale kinda threw all those plans out the window..prior to buying that stupid thing I *was* at 228 and thought, yeah, maybe I could hit 199 by then...not-so-much now.
I'll be happy with whatever I end up at I suppose as long as it's not going UP!

Learn to choose your battles with the kiddos while they're young...and then throw it all out the window when they're teenagers and start all over It's a whole other ballgame once they become teenagers I thought I had it all dialed in and boy was I wrong! Don't get me wrong, my kids are great and I have much to be thankful for, but they definitely give me a run for my money in the patience department...the biggest thing I am thankful for???? They are NOTHING like I was as a teenager..

Feeling kinda odd this afternoon..sorta nauseated. Tonight's date night, crossing my fingers that I feel well enough to go.
UD today and I cant even enjoy it so far.

I really need to get going with the exercise... I just hate to sweat

I would love to run.. it's been a long long time I did track in hs but that's it.. how wish I had kept that up all these years! Once I lose a good chunk of weight I'd like to think about doing at least a 5k or maybe a 10k.. and then progress up. Good for you Deb!

Melanie!! and you're in good company with the few extra pounds around here. It's all part of the journey, right?

Deb, I have a dream of running on the beach. I used to love to run, but got too heavy in my adult life to safely do it...but I'm getting there. This coming year, I will do it. Even if only once. Just for the joy of it.

Monica, most of the time, I walk, too. No injuries that way.

Danielle, Gavvy's teenage years are going to be interesting, I can see that already. He's very independent.

Tami, I wonder about the "control" thing. That's part of it, too. I learned to keep my house clean with Flylady, and just getting started, just getting the kitchen sink really clean, gave me the same feeling of peace. I was one hopeless Sidetracked Home Executive, that's for sure.

I wonder if clutter bothers me even when I don't realize it does? I think I'm fine with it, but maybe I'm really not.

Also? I'm starting to think that my relaxed attitude toward wearing whatever casual attire (and no shoes) I can find in the closet today is not actually making me happy, either. I might not really be fine with it. Maybe I want to be polished and tailored.

Wouldn't it be weird if just getting dressed up made it easier to follow our WOEs, whatever they may be?

Me... DD went very well yesterday. I'm getting the hang of it again!

I had a wonderful thing happen yesterday. I locked myself out of my home office accidentally. I didn't have a key for the door, and have just been very careful not to lock myself out before. I couldn't even call the rental agency to see if they had a spare key, because the phone was in the office!

I know, doesn't sound wonderful, does it? Wait for it.

So I packed Gavin into the car and drove up there. Alas, there was no spare key. But the maintenance guys came out immediately and gently broke into the office (it's shockingly easy to break into locked doors with a credit card, just like on TV) and then replaced the doorknob with a lock that matches the front door key, so I can't lose it!! Brilliant.

Needless to say, I'm baking them all cookies on Monday.

I'd better get back to life, sigh. I think the Buddha said "all life is suffering". If he'd been a mother, he would have said, "Every day is a work day".

Have a lovely weekend, lovelies!!

Lynne

Happy weekend ladies!

Lynne~ I think independence is a wonderful thing! My oldest and my youngest are that way, my middle one is the one that tends to need the push more. I definitely think your ideas about dressing up despite not going anywhere are good ones... I have started contemplating my wardrobe lately and have discovered that I am not happy with it at all.. my dilemma is that I hate the idea of buying new fun stuff when I'm just gonna have to replace it all in a matter of months! So I dunno, maybe I'll come up with something else to help me feel better.

So glad they got your office open!!! I'm sure they'll love the cookies!

DS is headed back to school today. I am trying to hold it together at least until he leaves I think he's enjoyed being home and being babied for a few weeks

Blew my DD yesterday. Had quite the stressful afternoon yesterday and just munched my way out of a DD into a MD.. I went to bed feeling sorta and woke up starving.
