Jessie is still not diving into her food like she normally does. Not sure what to do about that. Dang dog is so picky. Lynne, I will try the PB! Thanks for the suggestion.

Happy Valentine's Day ladies!!! Hope you're all being appropriately spoiled rotten!

Monica, sorry to hear Jessie still isn't quite back to normal. I don't think I'd worry too much about it as long as she's eating some, keeping it down, and stools look good. I had a couple of articles open to save for you, but computer restarted itself overnight & I lost them. This morning has been crazy... good crazy, but still CRAZY... both articles sounded pretty promising, though. While they typically can't determine the cause of HGE, most dogs recover and only 10-15% have recurring issues. I think the percentage was from Merck's website, but it was definitely 10-15%, which tells me you probably don't have to worry about it happen again and I wouldn't. Many articles suggested changing food just in case, but mostly it seemed like with a scary sudden onset and then good supportive veterinary care, like Jessie had, most go on to live happy normal lives without another incident. Sooo, unless it happens again, I wouldn't stress over it and treat her like normal. Remember she's not getting as much exercise & stimulation right now as she normally would, so that could be reason for the lack of enthusiasm for food. I'd slowly start working her back into her normal routine and not look back unless it happens again. Sound reasonable? I'm not a doc, but it's what I would do if she were mine

Scale was finally under 200 again.... and shortly after weighing DS20 gave me a package of my favorite cookies for Valentine's Day. This should be interesting... do I give up another few days so I can chow on cookies? Or quit toying with this poor body of mine and get on with it? Ugh. We're staying in for dinner tonight. We exchanged gifts already and hubby's has some assembly required, so hopefully that will go well so we're not frustrated and ready to kill each other! lol

Both... yay me...

I do better without sugar & grains & I know it, so there's really no reason to include them on Fast-5.... at least it made sense when I made the decision. lol Sunday's 'cheat' really didn't set me back much at all, though, so I'm thinking Fast-5 will allow me to be a little looser... it would just make sense to wait to take advantage of that until I was closer to maintenance, though.

I bet Jessie was so glad to get her walk in this morning! Keep us posted on her progress. I'm sure she's going to be fine!

Yay Jessie!

I'm going to eat a whole plate full of pizza and a cookie or two... will be fighting my way back to 199 once again. No frustration putting hubby's gift together, but it's taking hours longer than they said it would so we're ordering pizza. It'll work and actually sounds amazing...

Today I am aiming for ULTRA low calories for my DD! Dennis whipped up some stir fry this morning and that goes a long way! Tonight I am hosting BINGO night at my son's school. I will be glad when it is all done! My son doesn't want to go. Said he would rather do homework! Such is!

LOL Love that your son would rather do homework than go to Bingo night! I bet he'll have at least a little bit of fun once he's there with his classmates, though. Too funny. And yay, Jessie! Sounds like she's bouncing right back to her old self. Now tell her she needs to stay that way!

I got hubby an arcade style dart board. He plays in a dart league once a week and is always saying he needs to practice, but the old board we have at home just doesn't do the trick. So far the new one is awesome. Here's the one I got: Arachnid Bullshooter Electronic Dart Board Game

You know my son, is in 8th grade. He is very gifted in all the advanced classes and is a bigger guy. He tends to get teased a lot at school. I know some about his size, but more often, about his "smarts". Because of this, he chooses to not do anything school related after hours. He does not attend dances, sporting events or in this case, CPO (parent organization) events. I hoenstly don't blame him. This year has been better than his 7th grade year regarding teasing. I am sure the teasing hurts, but his attitude about it is, they are all just STUPID. My Mom talks to him a lot about it and while I know it hurts, I feel his attitude about it is positive (FOR HIM). Does that make any sense?

T enrolled for his freshman year a couple weeks ago. He wants to take a full 8 hours of classes (which is 1 more than is required). I could not talk him out of it. He literally said to me, I want to get the crap electives out of the way so I can get on to my science classes (he wants to be a vet). It would not surprise me if he does this each year with a hope of graduating early. Not sure how I feel about it, but I am trying to prepare myself for that in the years to come.

Heya Girlies! TGIF! It's been a looooonnngggg week.

Monica~ wonderful news about Jesse, I'm so glad that she's finally eating.
I most definitely understand the things going on with your DS. My DD16 endured lots of bullying in jr. high..(I think I shared this already? Sorry if I did!) ... in high school she gets talked about and talked to meanly by several nasty B!***'s because she is smart, dresses well, and every teacher absolutely loves her. This isn't to brag, she is just who she is and teacher's see it. She is very passionate about her grades and making sure to make the most of hs so she can do well in college.. she is finally starting to believe what I've been telling her for the last 5 years when this all started...the people who go out of their way to try and get to her, to tear her down, are the ones who are the most insecure, most unhappy, and jealous ones out of everyone. I think she's starting to see it and understand it. Funnily enough, all of their comments and rolling of their eyes when she asks more questions in class only serves to make her do even more of it. I told her one day that some of those nasty girls who make snide snarky comments will more than likely be the ones who are sweeping the food under her table at a restuarant or asking her if she wants "fries with that".... I know many a "popular girl" from my day who ended up just like that so I know it happens.. I could go on, it's such a hot button for me.. GOOD for your son for sticking with it and for realizing that yep, they ARE stupid..especially if they're not going to take advantage of their education the way he is.. he will be stepping over all of them on his way to a great career with money in the bank. I do know how hard it is to see and know what they go through! My girl is a toughie and so is your kiddo.

Tami~ Wow, what a great gift! Crossing my fingers that 199 won't be too much of a struggle to get back to,...maybe not at all??

Lynne~ Yes, DD16 has superman abilities when it comes to exercise..it's crazy..what's funnier is she has super long legs that I'd swear she would get tangled up when she yoga's She is my academic one....DD18 is the social butterfly x100.... SO glad that things are being fixed with the book!!!

Me, well, I'm still trying to get my ears to stop ringing Saw P!NK on Wednesday night. Amazing!
Scale is being somewhat "kind"... had an UD on Wednesday...spent a bajillion hours at the venue and didn't get in alot of water and not the best of food available.. I actually had a drop of -.4 Then I had DD yesterday, ended it with 347 calories and only went down -.2 I'm sitting right at 230-even... My body is determined to keep me in these 30's.. .. Hoping after today's UD I don't go waaay up with the #'s..

Oh, and "still" no TOM

Have a wonderful afternoon!

It's funny she says that. IT's exactly what T says about those that make fun of him!

D - you will see that 22X number. I just know it and soon!

SPeaking of the "popular" people from HS. I know at least 4 that were kicked out of college after their first semester. Well, they were probably put on academic probation and their parents told them they had to come home to get the grades up! what goes around does come around. I am a FIRM believer in that!

Happy Saturday, everyone!!

Sorry I haven't been holding up my end of the conversation here, but the kid was sick all night and I've been doing Mom duty full time.

The publisher's legal department is still trying to figure out just how much trouble they're in, so no news on that front.

It is an absolute ZOO here on the coast this weekend!! Valentine's Day, long weekend, nice weather...the whole state showed up. Standing room only at the Aquarium today.

I hated high school too. It was a prison sentence, I was glad to get parole. I wonder how much bullying grows out of jealousy??

Have a lovely weekend ladies!!

Lynne

Hey all! Sorry to be MIA the last couple of days. I was out at my son's swim meet most of the day yesterday. Managed to get hit by a car while I was walking from the gas pump to convenience store to pay for my gas... I'm fine. Their bumper hit me right on the back of my right calf. Not even a bruise. It felt like getting socked in the arm, hard enough to get your attention and make you rub it for a bit, but nothing serious. Thankfully the little old lady managed to stop before running me completely over! lol Ugh. It was honestly more shocking than anything. Anyway...

Monica, middle school is the absolute worst! He's almost out of there! I wouldn't be surprised at all if T graduates early or if he finds a whole new life at high school. Hopefully he stays focused and finds that he can have fun at school as well.... but really, in the grand scheme of things, he just needs to make it though. I used my high school classmates as examples to my kids often. Who they are and especially how popular they are in school really has very little bearing on how the rest of their life turns out. T sounds like a smart kid... and I'm sure those other kids ARE being stupid! He just needs to hang in there and get through it and it sounds like he has a great attitude to help him do that. Still feel awful that he gets teased. I think we've come a long way in that regard, but they all still get teased over one thing or another

Danielle, you saw P!NK? I'm so jeaous! You do all sorts of fun stuff! No doubt you'll see 220's soon!

Lynne, sorry to hear about the kiddo... hope he's feeling better soon! I do love your Oregon coast... not too surprised everyone showed up. Weather's been fantastic here adn I'm sure it's gorgeous up there as well. Fun fun fun! Enjoy the rest of your weekend!

Oh, and I haven't gotten on the scale since Thursday night's foray into Pizza/Cookie Land. Not going to worry about it... onward we go...

Tami!!! Thank goodness you are ok! I hope you've enjoyed your time with DS at his swim meets, sounds fun.

YES, I saw P!NK!!!!!!!!!!!! I've followed her career from the beginning but always missed the boat on scoring great tickets. This time I made sure to get tix the second they went on sale..we were right in front. It was my Christmas present from DH. Worth every penny. If you go to my journal here, very top of page 26 I posted a few pictures. Amazing show! I think she's up near you tomorrow night in San Jose. Let's go!

Lynne~ I hope DS is feeling alittle better. Went through that with DD16 about a month ago..rough stuff. Definitely believe that alot of the bullying going on is related to jealousy..at least in girls anyways.. my daughter has endured alot of it and has built quite a tough skin.. she sees now that it's mainly coming from people who only wish they had half her brains or even her looks.. it is crazy making the amount of girls who get angry with her because of what she wears or because she gets straight-A's.. If she wasn't thriving so beautifully I would worry about her, but she goes to school kickin butt & taking names.

Scale went down *some* despite a stellar DD.. 400 cals and about a gallon of water.. 231.0.. UD today and praying I don't get a huge bounce..I want OUT of these freakin 30's already!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I was looking at past weigh-in's...I have been trying to get out of the 30's since December..I was 231 on December 1!!..This gives new meaning to the word patience.

Stay at home day today..I love when I don't have anywhere to be and I can stay in and watch movies or read. Weather is lovely today so I think a short walk is in order.

We survived the weekend. Saturday morning T was supposed to go to an all day drivers Ed class. He was NOT looking forward to it and started mentioning a tummy ache in the middle of the night Friday night. He got up and went to class. He even texted me at 9:30 a.m. and said he was feeling better. At Noon the class broke for lunch and he ate part of his. By 1:00 he was calling telling us he felt worse. DH told him to buck it up, that he only had X hours left but that only HE knew how he felt. At 1:30 he called and said, I need to come home. We both rolled our eyes and told him he would be doing nothing the rest of the evening (no date night with girl friend or anything). He said, FINE, I don't feel up to it. He came home, I sent him to his room. Within 5 minutes of getting home he was throwing up. By 2:15 he was moaning in pain. By 2:45 the pain had reached agony levels and we were in route to the hospital. The ER waiting room was FULL! They checked us in and told us to take a seat. T just kept getting louder and louder. Finally after 20 minutes, they took us back. They had no ER room for us, but put us somewhere where T could try to get more comfortable. We were in that area for 15 minutes until they finally had a place for us. By 4:45 they had basically determined it was his appendix but needed a CT scan to determine whether it had burst. By 7:00 p.m. he was on the operating room and as I stated, by 10:15 p.m. we were home with him.
