D - new bedding?? And Dh is willing to go shop for it???? Buy 1 piece of tile for and put it under the scale. I would think the thickness of the tile would help even if the tile sits on carpet. But I could be wrong!

Tami - that scale will move again soon. I know it will.

My insomnia. I started wondering if it isn't caused by something. For several weeks now I have noticed my heart will race when I move even just a little and on the cruise I noticed my hands were shakey. I have thyroid issues and have been on meds for years. I looked at the symptoms and indeed they can indicate further thyroid problems. I haven't had my levels checked in years and when you are on meds, I think you are to do it annually. I put a call into my DR, it's worth getting the blood test done to check.

OOH, ooh, I know this one!! *waving arm in the air like Hermione Granger in Potions class*

As long as your scale is weighing the same thing each time you step on it - i.e. no fluctuations - then the surface its sitting on is firm enough. You don't have to go to the garage and freeze your butt off every morning.

Tami, what Danielle said about your hunger on Fast five is spot on I believe, and is also in the (free) fast five e-book somewhere. The doctor says it will iron itself out in time, and no harm done. You're still low-carbing, right? And lc-ing by itself drives down insulin production, so you're not likely to be storing fat. If that made any sense.

Monica, I hope you get to sleep soon, like a walrus in the sun.

Me... I had a very angelic DD on Monday, perfect. Low calories (for me), like 700. But then? Tuesday, a bit of a UUAD, and complete laziness.

Today I decided that moderation would serve me better, and am determined to stick with 1000/2000 rotations without deviation. I'm fast-fiving on my DD, though, Tami! Tweak, tweak, tweak...this is sounding familiar.

It's a beautiful sunny day here on the coast - but FREEZING. When it freezes here, the humidity in the air turns all the surfaces into skating rinks!

I hope you feel ALL better soon, Danielle.

Back to work for me...again. Happy Wednesday!!

Lynne

Thanks ladies... glad I checked in here before making lunch, cause I was seriously considering it! I can make it a few more hours, though. I do still need to read the fast five e-book. I got so hung up on the coffee/cream thing that I downloaded the book and didn't read it

Monica, glad you're getting checked out by the doc. It does sound like something is amiss.

Danielle, new bed and bedding... heavenly... Also so glad the new scale wasn't too different than the old!

Lynne, you're doing so well with the 1000/2000 rotations I can't see why not to continue with them & fasting most of your down day makes perfect sense as well! Keep it up! That whole tweaking thing can get a bit neurotic sometimes, but I know you've got it under control

Hello... nothing like switching plans in the middle of challenge... but I did to JUDDD. I had been thinking about it and reading a little bit. The flexibility of being able to eat anything in your calorie range was interesting. I did good on induction for a week and half and then Sunday had ham at a get together Without even thinking about it and that it was honey glazed. The sugar threw me right out of ketosis. Monday A.M I went to the refridgerator and nothing sounded good. I decided to make it an UD and go from there. I figured if I can't get the hang of it and counting calories after two weeks I will go back to atkins but really wanted to try this. So here I am.. My UD # is 2078 and my DD is 520 at 25%.

Ok so by my calculations I am at 579 for my first DD. (1-15)
Atkins shake (160)
3 onion rings from kids lunch ( 90)
sugar free jello (10)
2 tbsp of redi whip (15)
1/2 cup of beef stew (203)
3 green pepper slices
1 tbsp of ranch dip

Today I have had.... UD (1-16)
Atkins shake (160)
Plain bagel with butter (372)
no bake cookie (102)
1 and 1/2 pizza hut breadstick with cheese with sauce (315)
949 so far..... 1129 left.

Dinner is going to be
garden salad with french dressing (190)
and a 3 oz piece of pizza bake. (409 according fitnesspal recipe builder)

503 still left after dinner..... what am I going to eat???

Fellow JUDDERS.... how does this look?

Hi, Melanie welcome to JUDDD!!

Honestly, it sounds fine to me. You've got to experiment a little to see what works best for you.

Have you read Stephanie Dray's weekly JUDDD updates? You probably have, but in case not, it will give you an idea of what to expect.

Good luck! I know you'll do great!

Lynne

P.S. What a bummer that a little honey-glazed ham was all it took to knock you out of ketosis! It's just not FAIR!!

Good luck with JUDD, Melanie! I'm still fighting the need to count, but will be watching your progress with great interest as I try to settle on a program. So far Fast-5 is interesting. I need to give it more time and really get it dialed in before looking elsewhere

Thanks Melanie! Doing a little happy dance this morning! Down one more pound to 205! Even if I haven't quite perfected this yet, my body seems to love it!

I did join a fb Fast-5 support group where even Dr. Herring, author of the book, chimes in occasionally... kinda cool... and I'm part way through the book. Creamer for my coffee is still my sticking point, but it seems to be working regardless. I'm trying bullet coffee w/ CO now and throwing the stuff in the blender or magic bullet really does make it more palatable than just stirring it in like I tried in the past! I still have some SF creamer in there for good measure, though. I'm going to see if I can wean myself down to just the CO, but I honestly don't have high hopes. Going to give it a go, though.

Tami~ As IF we would EVER just let you go off and do your own thing! I love having our little group here. Woo hoooooo!!! Another pound lost! Glad you're looking on a board for fast-5'ers.. Cracks me up to say that, every time I think about it it reminds me of the Fast Five movie with Vin Diesel.. The no creamer thing in coffee is a dealbreaker for me...call me old, set in my ways..whatever... I ain't giving it up.

Still coughing.. Only now my body has decided that excessive sneezing would be fun too.. o_o

Not happy!

Trying to be productive around this house, clean and get organized..but just moving stuff around I start coughing...meh. I give up for now ..
I'll just sit here and be a lump then. So there!

How's that for a temper tantrum?

Ok seriously..going to go do something! Anything to make myself feel useful..

Have a great day my lovelies!

That's exactly how I felt! However, this morning I heard from the lady in the below video (can we link youtube vids? Perhaps you should google 'youtube four years of intermittent fasting' - I don't want to get in trouble again... ) Anway, the woman in the video, Angela, says she lost all 120 pounds without giving up cream in her coffee. She actually uses milk at home and heavy cream when she orders coffee out of the house. I'm down 6 pounds in 8 or 9 days, even after already being in ketosis, so the creamer doesn't seem to be causing problems? I have used half and half some of the time and sf creamer half the time.

I sure hope you're feeling better soon! If you're still coughing, take it easy... no need do anything to feel useful

Hi everyone!

WTG, Tami! Yay for fast five!! I'm glad you decided to stay. Now we get to enjoy your successes with you.

Yay for cream in coffee, too.

Melanie, how's that second DD going today? The second and third one are always toughest, I think. I like Cindy's (Kissa) signature: with JUDDD, tomorrow really IS another day!!

Monica, sleeping better yet? Hope so.

Danielle, no creamer in the coffee would be a dealbreaker for me too, believe me. I've spent like 200 calories on REAL half and half every day since day one, with the exception of some misspent DDs choking down FF half and half which is abominable. The SF creamers are yummy but I'm trying to not use AS anymore, it scares me.

Me... Yesterday's DD was perfectly on the money. Today's UD is fine so far, nothing to repent of. I'll let you know tomorrow how the rest of it went.

Tomorrow's Friday, right? Right?? AAAAAHHHHH!!! TGI-almost-F!!!

Lynne

TGIF ladies!!!!!!!! I slept great both Wed and Thur night! I am so ready for the weekend.

Weekend plans??? We have volleyball tomorrow with Haven, then Sunday is church and cleaning house. Monday the kids don't have school. I think Haven is having a friend sleep over and T is having his "girl Friend" over both Sunday and Monday having a Harry Potter DVD Marathon! *yawnfest* to me! He's happy, so that's all that matters.

Way to go Tami. . Good luck on finding a coffee you like at home. I'm still trying to find a good measure too.

Lynne I am doing good thanks for asking. I am starting day 5 today. Since switching plans I am down 1.6 lbs. total for the week is 2.4. I have been over on my DD days a little closer to 600. I am really going to try to be at 500 next one. I would have been there yesterday but I was headed to the gym for a Zumba class and worried that if I didn't eat something that I would pass out so I drank a shake on the way and then had a 3oz steak when I got home. So I was at 570.

Monica, thank you and WooHoo for good sleep! What a difference that makes!!!

Nothing much planned for the weekend here. I'm headed out to the vet in a little bit with my big guy... that puppy in my profile picture is almost 3! lol We're having an echocardiogram done to evaluate his heart. All seems well, but it's a standard test for great danes to determine if there's anything congenital going on and to determine whether he's worthy to be bred. We have no plans as far as that's concerned, but it's the number one test that needs to be done... then hips, thyroid, and eyes. The others are relatively minor issues compared to the heart, though. Cardiomyopathy is somewhat common in danes and the reputable breeders do whatever they can to keep from producing puppies who would pass away early from heart problems. We completed his AKC Championship a while back. He's a handsome, well built, boy so now we make sure the inside is as awesome as the outside

Melanie, look at that weight falling off! Way to go yourself Great job on those down days and doing zumba! You're a beast & I love it!

TGIF! Man this was a long week!

Feeling better aside from all the sneezing I'm doing. My nose is raw from all the nose blowing but I'll survive.

New scale down some... seems to be cooperating. Somewhat.....Yes, I'm still irked by the stupid numbers, but, like the nose blowing, I'll get over it!

I have stayed off the old scale because I don't wanna cry when it gives me numbers below the 30's.. I was so close on that one, but yeah, time for a reality check, eh?

I think we're headed to the movies tonight. Mark Wahlberg is on the menu. New movie looks interesting. I dunno if we're going out to dinner but I'm eating lighter today just in case. This weekend the goal is to clean out my closet and my dining area...DH somehow mistakenly thought that I would be so ok with him piling up all of his video game crap.. he collects all of the big ole collector's edition of everything so there is these huge boxes piled everywhere.. silly silly man, does he not know be by now to know that I would never be ok with that? I finally got tired of nagging him about clearing it out so now *I'm* gonna do it and he has no idea..

Melanie~ my first couple weeks (maybe even 3) I don't think I got below 700 calories on DD's. It was such a huge adjustment going from LC to that, I just decided to go easy on myself.. You'll do great with the numbers you're doing now I think. The hardest part about this plan is being able to roll with the bounces on the scale so hang on tight!! I also think alot of the girls who workout at the gym tend to eat more on those DD's too since you'd essentially burn it quickly I think you're golden..

Tami~ Aw, I love your doggy!!! I hope all goes well with him and everything checks out perfect!

Monica~ Kiddos are off here Monday too. I'm sure they'll both spend it doing homework and/or going to the mall. Seriously, since both are now working they're like 2 peas in a pod and go shop together all the time.. kinda nice for me cause it gets them outta my hair for a few hours LOL ..Funny about the Harry Potter movies..I do fine all the way up til the second to the last one and for whatever reason I CANNOT stay awake..I have tried watching it 3x and I do it every time. I loved the books so I dunno what my malfunction is

Weather here has been AMAZING. 70 degrees and sunny.. Well, while I'm not crazy about the blazing hot ball of sun, the temps are great at least

Have a great weekend ladies! ♥

Eww I would love 70 degrees. I was freezing yesterday.

Thanks girls on the encouragement. I am really loving the newness of JUDDD and the flexibility. I feel great. I will admit that the scale worries me though, but like with everything I need to face my scale issues of not getting mad when it doesn't move like I want it to or think I should. I am trying to not worry about the weekly numbers as much as the end of week number. And end of month number.

Work in progress.

Hey guys sneaking in real quick... it's been a long long day. Clinic was running behind schedule, then everything wasn't fine with the dog, followed the vet appt with a couple of friends who were also having their dogs checked. They weren't ok either so it was a long, thought provoking, dog. The clinic today was run by a cardiologist who travelled to another clinic. The vet at that clinic suggested that we not put a lot of stock into what this particular cardiologist said. Then why are you having her at your facility?!? There are multiple vets there and the cardiologist is a friend of one of them. Anyway. Way stressful and kind of scary right now, though there is no immediate danger. Two of us already scheduled a recheck with another cardiologist on Monday, so we'll know exactly what's going on, one way or the other. I know, I know, he's *just* a dog... but he's my baby... the breeding stuff, eh whatever... but he's my baby <3

Food was clean low carb, but I'm going to have to add a couple of hours to my window due to having that afternoon lunch. I'm sure it's not that big a deal? Either way I'll survive. I almost passed on lunch, but am glad I went. It was helpful to commiserate & come up with a plan of action.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Yay Tami! So sorry to hear about all the stuff with your dog. I hope you guys get it all figured out.

Today is a good day!!!! Beginning of 6th day on JUDDD and feeling fine. I woke up to 210.6, a .4 loss after an UD!!! I will take it. 10.6 lbs lost since getting serious and starting back on January 2. I doubt that the diets good effects have kicked in after just 6 days but I feel amazing!!! So much energy. My plans are to start doing some cardio here at home and some weight training. And still get to Zumba hopefully once a week. I would love to go more but until we get some more money I just can't fit it into the budget more than once a week. So that's the plan.

Tami - dogs are family, plain and simple. I would do just about anything for my dog. I have to limit the VET bills as I have college expenses coming soon. In 2011 our dog ruptured a disk in her spine. Our Vet bills with our local guy were $1200, he told us we could consult the neurologist for back surgery for her to the tune of $4500 minimum. I merely told him that was not in teh budget for us. He then worked with us on a nonsurgical way to get her better. 8+ weeks of total movement restriction and she was definitely improving. Fast forward to now, it is like nothing ever happened. Those 8 weeks were awful. We had to carry her to go outside to do her business and then, the rest of the time, in her crate. I am sure our neighbors thought we were NUTS! Our 40 pounds dog carrying her in a tote in the back yard. But amazingly enough, it all worked! Those animals are special, I don't blame you for doing whatever is necessary!

Danielle - how are you feeling today? DD is still coughing and it is worse at night. Poor thing have been dealing with this since 01/03. We have taken her to the DR twice and they say, this "bug" is just long lasting! I think yesterday her coughs finally sounded productive and not that horrible barking sound! Maybe she is turning the corner.

Lynne - how are you girl? Miss you!!!!!!!

Weekend was good. I messed up my back a bit, so we took it low key. Watched a couple movies, many many episodes of Vampire Diaries with DD and prepped food for tonight. I am hosting my BUNCO group. Going to keep calories low today so I will have 1000 for tonight. Thank goodness it's an Up Day!

Thank you Melanie and Monica! Monica, so glad your baby is fine now! You guys are amazing owners!!! After today we'll be at about 500 just for diagnostics... if the diagnosis stands after the second opinion we'll be looking at a couple hundred a month in meds at some point. I'm not sure if they wait to start meds until they're symptomatic or not? Then he will at some point likely die suddenly regardless of meds. He has arterial fibrillation which right now isn't, but will likely cause his heart to race in the future and... dunno. I'm really upset, but trying to just kick into 'day to day' mode and day to day there's really no difference in him now than there was before Friday's echo-cardiogram.

Anyway... leaving in 20 minutes to make the 2.5 hour drive to the second opinion, but wanted to stop in and shout 203 baby! Getting close

Hope you all have an awesome day!
