Glad she doesn't remember, but still... poor baby...

I didn't watch Oscars, either... totally forgot they were on. Will go check out the dresses online here in a little bit, though

Tami - thanks girl! It was a horrific year for us, 2003! On 06/01/03, Haven had surgery on her hip for fluid pocket that they feared was full of infection. On 06/09/03 my precious Corgi (that I had had longer than DH) had to be put down. On 07/01/03, I had a hiatal hernia / gall bladder surgery. On 08/01/03, Haven, DH and myself all came down with Crypto (in what the CDC deemed the largest outbreak they had ever seen) in our town. Then at the end of August the investigation on the daycare provider started. When the state called me in October with the findings, there were 20 "events" Documented, of the 20 -- 11 of them were abuse towards my daughter. I hit an all time low! I cried and cried for DAYS! I got down to my lowest weight ever 161 merely because eating was NOT really an option I was so emotionally distraught!

Dh and I had a hard time talking, I firmly think it was because we both felt such TREMENDOUS guilt as to what had happened to Haven! I, for one, couldn't even function with a solid thought of how to even start a conversation about how horrible I felt as a MOM!

We obviously have moved UP and ON! Haven is fine, her hip is fine, she is NONE the wiser about any of it. She truly has NO CLUE! Oh and she is still very HEAD STRONG and stands her ground no matter what. (good or bad!). We will always refer to 2003 as our very DARK year!

That's awful, Monica! The fact that Haven came out none the wiser is a testament to your strength and wonderful parenting. I can't even imagine the guilt and I'm sure both you and hubby were feeling it big time... ugh... can't even imagine... add in all the other cruddy stuff and yep, can totally see why it will always be known as your very DARK year! Some couples would have a hard time coming through that. Be proud of you and hubby for making it out of that period and moving on! What a long way you've come since that year, huh? Whew... wouldn't wish that on anyone!

And for what it's worth, head strong munchkins are my FAVORITE! I take it as a challenge to figure out how they tick and what works for them. They're often incredibly smart little ones and it's a blast to build a relationship with them. You have to earn their trust most of the time, where as some others are just accepting of whatever from the get go, but earning their trust and building that relationship and having them willing to work with you instead of against you is so very rewarding. Makes me miss my little guys and wonder how they're all doing...

Good morning everyone!!

Well, it's afternoon actually, but who's counting??

Monica, my goodness. What a nightmare. I'm so sorry that happened to you and your family! And surgery for an 18 month old...poor parents. The kids are just fine, the parents are traumatized...

Danielle, OMG, what you're describing at that daycare is a nightmare too!! Your poor daughters, being in the middle of it. The potty training thing, that made me so sad. Those parents are trusting those people with their kids.

Sigh. Tami, how's the doggie doing today? Hopefully you've got some good news to report.

Me... I registered my copyright this morning on all the "borrowed" material that was in the published book. This entitles me to statutory damages and attorney's fees for their copyright infringement. Then...I forwarded a copy of the copyright office's confirmation email to the publisher.

It made me feel ridiculously, outrageously proud to "officially" claim my work. That baby is MINE, back off B*******!!!

Thank you for sharing this moment with me.

There's a hummingbird sitting in a tree outside my office window. It's almost spring!!

Lynne

Love love love it, Lynne!

Doggie seems to be doing well... we started meds Friday morning and he seems to be tolerating them well. In a couple of weeks we'll do another 24 hour heart monitor to see if the meds are keeping his heart rate down... so for now things are quiet and hopeful

Tami - thank you for the kind words. Thankfully that was almost 10 years ago! We have moved up and ON! Great to hear about the Doggie!

Lynne - you GO GIRL! You should be fighting for what is YOURS and what is RIGHT! I am so PROUD of you!

Kids are out of school again today. We have at least 6+ inches of heavy wet snow and HORRIBLE wind. So power is out in some areas. Winter has decided that End of FEbruary is the time to SHINE! March 1st is Friday, I say, BRING ON SPRING! Food was DEAD ON yesterday, DD was around 650C, great for me!

I'm with you, Monica, so ready for spring!!! I was actually able to open up the house for a little bit yesterday afternoon. The dogs loved laying in front of the screen door watching the kids walking home from school, etc. It was glorious! Didn't last long, but was sure nice! I'm hoping for a repeat this afternoon! Spring is definitely my favorite season. I'm so tired of being cold! Of course yesterday with the door open I still had on two sweatshirts, but I'll take it! lol Bring on the sun! Hope your storm passes quickly! Great job on the DD

Was hoping the scale would give me another pound this morning, but it suggested that I quit being greedy and be thankful for the 3 pounds in the last few days. lol Ok, ok..

Lynne~ that's what I used to tell my DD's when they were working there..those kids were entrusted to them.. used to make my blood boil by the stuff I'd hear. What used to p.o. me the most, the majority of those teachers there are MOTHERS! Why would you not take a more territorial stance when you're hearing stuff regarding the 2 idiots running the after school care program with no real adult supervision??? My 16yo had more common sense than most of those women working there..heck, even my son would do a better job and he doesn't particularly get comfie with little kids. Ugh, and don't even get me started about the montesorri "philosophy" ....

SO glad that you got your stuff copyrighted! Get 'em girl!!

Tami~ so glad doggy seems to be better! Crossing my fingers for lots of quiet for now!

Monica~ I'm sure the kids are thrilled with no school I am trying to prolong the event of spring...it only means heat, hot, and sweaty here

UD yesterday.. UP 2 pounds. I was about 90'ish cals over my limit so not too bad, but I think I had too much salt.. I know it's impossible to have actually *gained* 2lbs of fat so I'm hoping that I'll dip sometime in the next week or so... Maaaaaannn, I'm praying hard!

Nothing exciting going on over here..same ole same ole... *yawn*

Snow finally stopped and the temps didn't fall like they thought. I think it's like 38* out there! So it's melting and really slushy! We even had some banks completely close for the day??? WTH??? There are tons of businesses open. Truly no reason our bank is closed. I guess I won't be making that business deposit after all!

Monica, I hope you went home right behind him?

Tami, the scale is almost laughable at this point.. someone suggested measurements to me...yeah...I did that almost 2 weeks ago..I lost like *barely* 2 inches from everywhere.. *yawn*snore*.... something's gotta give, right??????? Yeesh...

Good morning all! It's Wednesday! Bring on the weekend!! Is it too early to say that???

I had a good up day yesterday. Made brownies and ate several, but then ate less pizza to compensate. Long ago, I wouldn't have done that! Hoping for a stellar DD today. Goal under 600c. So far, I'm not horribly hungry, which is odd for me. I almost always wake up TUMMY GROWLING STARVED!

Today is T's first day back at school since surgery. With the snow days and his field trip, he is just now getting back! I think he is excited to see everyone and GET OUT of the HOUSE!

Morning my lovelies!

Monica~ sounds like your UD went great! ..and yummo for brownies Here's to an awesome day for T!!!

Welp, the scale only went down .2 of the 2lbs it gave back to me Couple weirdorama things going on... I had about 425 calories yesterday.. the last I ate was my salad around 8pm.. felt totally fine until I got up off the couch around 10:30 to head to bed...my stomach hurt REALLY bad...then proceeded to feel as if someone was blowing up a balloon within my entire belly..I looked like I was 12 months pregnant! It felt like it too It's happened a couple times before but not in awhile.. so weird and no clue what it's from or why...

On top of that? I started with a sore throat and coughing last evening.. Miserable night...kinda figured the scale was not gonna be kind. I'm congested, stuffy, coughing, feel as if someone's punched me all over, and cannot swallow.. DD16 is home today too..

So, that's me on this lovely Wednesday. *sigh* And once again..another month not going anywhere past the 30's.

Good morning everyone!!

Monica, I'm glad the snow stopped. I'm ready for the weekend, I'd say, except that for me the weekend is more work than the week.

Danielle, I'm getting worried about your health. How are you feeling today - better?

Tami, you're doing great with your weight loss!

Me... I'm feeling wrung out. I've done everything I can do for now on the publishing front, and am waiting for them to make their move. The emotional stuff is starting to kick in now, the feeling of betrayal. I can't seem to shrug it off and move on.

Also I don't want this to take over my life, but it feels like it IS.

I'm sticking to my rotations basically but I'm afraid too much emotional eating is going on for my liking.

I think I'm a mess this week. Can I start over??

Happy Wednesday anyway!!

Lynne

Danielle... man, you can't catch a break, huh? So sorry you're not feeling well

Monica... never too early to bring on the weekend! This week does seem to be dragging. Hmmm.. trying to be more active here. Not sure it's a total success, but trying. How'd T's first day back go? Hope well!

Lynne, thank you... you've done all you can. It's out of your hands for now. Maybe set yourself a deadline of say, Tuesday of next week, and if nothing has happened by then you need to act on it... and then try to forget about it as much as possible in the meantime? Easier said than done, but that's what I typically do when waiting for someone else to make a move... and man do I HATE waiting... sigh... I'm sorry you're feeling the sense of betrayal, too. I think that's a really fair emotion, though. They really treated you poorly and they better make it all worthwhile in the end!

Well last night he was burried in a mound of homework and studies. He has 3 tests today and one tomorrow. 1 of his tests today was over a documentary series that they watched in class (over several weeks due to snow days). T had to watch 3 hours of it last night! He even stayed up late and got up early to prepare. I think he will be very glad when today AND tomorrow are done! Hoping he will be caught up by then! Thank you for asking!

Well my DD ended up around 750c. There was a major work issue that was STRESSING me! I grabbed it, ate it and moved on. I counted it too AND I stopped at ONE! I call that success! Looking to enjoy my Up day today!

Plans for the weekend ladies?

Ah, stopping at one is always a success! Great job! Poor T. I feel bad that he's buried in homework, but by the way you've described him I'm sure he'll be caught up in no time.

Scale is back to not moving, was actually up a couple... under 200, but still grrrr... but my legs & chest muscles are sore, so hopefully just retained water in those ouchie muscles.

Bingo. It will be gone by next week, new low, et cetera et cetera. Good on ya!!

And good job to you, Monica!! You've had the week from he!!, and have stayed the course. I'll bet T will be pretty happy when he's all caught up, huh? But it's fun to dig out after a break, too. Back in the saddle!

Danielle? Are you feeling okay I hope??

Me... much better today. I think I just needed to get it out of my system.

It's Dr. Seuss week at Gavin's school this week. Giant colorful hats and ridiculous huge shoes have sprouted up everywhere!!

Out of curiosity: What's your favorite Dr. Seuss book?

Oooh, Dr. Suess... I pretty much love them all, but Hop on Pop was the first to pop (hehe) into my head as a favorite I think I know all of 'one fish two fish, red fish blue fish' by heart and probably a couple of others. Fun fun fun

Glad you had a much better day, Lynne. Hugs...

Yeah, I've been trying to be really active & busy, doing some walking, some formal exercise type stuff, and a lot of house & yard work. I'm feeling it, but it does feel good. Hope the scale rewards me for it, but even if it doesn't it's all good.

How fun, his birthday is next week isn't it??? Or was it this week??? I love love love DR Seuss. When I found out I was pregnant with T, we joined a Suess book club. We got 2 new hard back Suess books a month. I have them all still. They are in a special box in the attic. Haven loves to hear me talk about how I plan to read them all to my Grandchildren one day. That tote is actually so full of books DH could barely get it up the ladder to the attic. So many Suess books and other classics I simply couldn't part with. I still have the rocking chair that Dennis' mom used with him and we used with our kids that I fully plan to use to rock/read to my grandchildren!

Favorite Suess books:

The Grinch (I used to bribe my son to let me read it to him just ONE more time)
The Lorax
Horton

The kids' elementary school has a reading night in October each year. For 3 years running I have manned the Suess room. This year I asked the librarian if she would let me continue to do it even though next year Haven will be at middle school, she happily said I could continue as long as I wanted!!!!
