Thanks ladies... hubby and I are both just totally in love with this dog. We'll figure out how to make it all work. I did just get off the phone with the other cardiologist, who agrees with the medication choices, and thinks he has a really great prognosis as long as we can get proper rate control with the meds. I'm scared to be that optimistic, because no one thought the rate would be spiking at this point in the first place, but in a year after we've had a couple more ultrasounds of his heart under our belt to ensure we're not just catching some other cardio problem early (DCM - dilated cardiomyopathy) I'll feel more confident.
Definitely glad you're home safe, Monica! Stay warm

Wow, that's one big snowstorm! I saw on some news report or other that 24 states would be involved before it's over. That's an amazing picture!!
I'm glad you're home too, Monica. Sorry about your hungry DD but I'm determined to starve right along with you and not cave in today.Tami, I'm so sorry to hear about doggy's diagnosis, but the prognosis sounds good so far. I can imagine you're as stressed out as possible , hang in there.Danielle, I went and looked at your concert pix. Thank you for sharing them! I can't believe it's SNOWING where you live!! Holy crow!! Me... so far so good on this DD, coffee with cream only. It's not snowing here, but there's a little rain and it's COLD. The kid didn't want to wake up and go to school this morning, but I finally enticed him with sausage. ![]() Stay safe everyone who's swimming in snow!! Lynne

The snow finally stopped. MY DD ended up more of a mid day! Moving on! We got a foot of snow. That's a lot of us. Major roads have 1 lane cleared, our little side street hasn't been touched. Honestly, drive smart and we had no issues, drive like an idiot, and bad things happen. There are TONS of idiots out there!

LOL I love that you lured him out of bed with sausage, Lynne! Yummm! I'm a big fan of whatever works and that would work on me, too!
Ah, Danielle, sounds like your body has mixed up it's UD/DD's... hope that gets straightened out soon! Idiots... isn't that the truth? lol Anyone have anything exciting planned for the weekend. We don't. lol Not sure what our Sunday project will be... hubby mentioned cleaning out the garage.... I won't help with that one much. There are spiders in there... big black ones with red hour glasses on their bellies... nope, not my department! |

Tami~ congrats on the new low!
Uncle Tom needs to get lost and stay lost and leave the Whoosh Fairy alone....He interferes with her work..![]() Was up all night with DD16 Thursday night..I think I finally shut my eyes around 7am as the sun was coming up Friday morning..*yawn* .. after a million episodes of I Love Lucy and Lizzie McGuire of course.. Poor kid was nauseated and having anxiety...puts herself under so much pressure with class and projects..Spent Friday sleeping on & off and watching SVU marathon and reading.. was a long day..Scale is being naughty of course..and uh, yeah, I may or may not have eaten some chocolate ice cream on a DD I hadn't eaten ice cream in years but craved it terribly yesterday.. Sitting at 230.6 today...*YAWN*...Five days before the month ends..maybe by the 28th I'll actually see my goal? Or something close to it... just OUT of the 30's puhleezze!! ![]() |

Tami, we're both doing fine. Altho' for me it takes a lil longer to bounce back after an all-nighter
It's been a quiet weekend around here so makes it feel even lazier and more tired. i think the biggest event has been going to the grocery DD16 had ocd issues which resulted into extreme hand washing.. went to therapy and did meds but she hated the meds..made her gain weight and when trying to lose it, it wouldn't budge, so she went off them and has been fine.. well now things are manifesting into anxiety symptoms because of school. Wish my other 2 felt the need to excel as much as this one does! She'll be ok we just need to figure out something that will ease her out those moments when they spring up on her. UD yesterday... a very big UD too I didn't count exact yesterday but by eyeballing everything I had I'd say I ended up somewhere around 2400..my ceiling is supposed to be 2100.. Ooops! It's that dang ice cream I tell ya! Definitely no more regardless of mama bear is craving it or not!..God love DH for trying to keep me happy. ![]() Scale only went up .2 to 230.8. The plan is a good strong DD so hopefully, maaayyyybe I'll get a glimpse of something with 22X in it... DH is home today tho and already acting like a tazmanian with all his running around and picking up etc... gives me anxiety... Give me strength people!! ![]() |

Lynne STAY STRONG GIRL! You can do this. How's the boy feeling now?
Danielle- my son is MUCH the same about school/projects and such. He is very very smart and does extremely well. GOD help him when things don't come easily....he stresses, freaks and in all, FALLS apart!!!!!! I feel your pain! My daughter, doesn't worry so much about school, but SPORTS! Forget about it!! Tami - I am so happy for you and your new low!!!!!! Me, it was a good weekend. Friday night, we ended up staying home. They finally snow plowed our street at 9:00 p.m. Saturday we left the house at 6:55 a.m. and didn't return until 7:45 p.m.! Girl's volleyball team took #1 in their age group at the tournament. It was a LONG DAY. Stuck there, with very little food equalled a good DD too! Sunday we did SS/CHurch, then met my family in KC for late lunch, then softball practice for the girl, then home. I had DVR'd the pre-show for the Oscar's. Watched that and then to bed! Gearing up for our next winter storm. They say 10-12 inches in our town again, I PRAY they are wrong, like they so often ARE! Supposed to start today at 3:00 p.m.!!!!!!!!!

Danielle, glad you had a nice quiet weekend to recover. Hopefully hubby will fizzle out pretty soon and you can enjoy today, too! lol Your daughter sounds a lot like me. She'll get it figured out, especially with such a patient mommy
Yikes, Monica... more snow? Hopefully the forecasters are wrong! Huge congrats to DD and her volleyball team! Long day, but how fun! I'm down another pound to 196 this morning. Will be fun to watch the scale bounce around 195 instead of 200 for awhile... then it'll get annoying again. lol |

Lynne~ Crossing my fingers for good news on the publisher front!! You're definitely do some $ for sure.
Tami~ hoping today finds you still sitting at that awesome number! Monica~ Yeah I kinda figured your DS and my DD were about the same. She didn't have to truly start having to study hard until high school and that was a shock to her.. the good thing is she knew how to study, how to be organized, etc to get the great grades.. sometimes I just worry though, at what cost ya know? She recently quit her job at the preschool because they were just absolutely nasty to her there..she fell in love with the kids and did her best to protect them...alot for a 16yo to shoulder! That created alot of stress for her in that she felt like she let the kids down by abandoning them.. Ugh! Sounds like you had a very busy weekend..awesome news about Haven's team! OMG, I swear my body or the scale is playing a super mean joke. Awesome DD yesterday and wake up today to 230.0 EVEN... Last time I was 230.0 was on 2/15... Getting old!!! Today's UD will probably bounce me back up again tomorrow.. I jumped on my old scale (Yes, I kept it! ) to see and on that one I'm at 227.5.. Anyone watch the Oscars? I'm not sure how I feel about Seth McFarland. While I can certainly say he is a talented guy, not sure he is the right fit for this kind of scene? Found myself missing Billy Crystal Even Whoopi! Thrilled that Argo won best picture, and I will continue to stomp my foot at the idea that Ben Affleck was robbed for a best director nom. Adele won for Skyfall and sang it beautifully as usual..love that girl. Jennifer Lawerence wins extra points in my book after tripping over her dress on the way up to get her award..poor girl..at least she could laugh at herself!DH home today so who knows what shenanigans will find! Have a great day ladies! ![]() |

![]() I didn't even realize I was replying a day late... sigh... it's Monday alright! Ok, so hope you and DH get to relax a bit today! lol Btw, the preschool thing is just awful and is a TON of pressure on a 16 year old. My very last job before getting in that car accident was at a preschool... I've been a preschool teacher off and on since 1990. Anyway, my very last job was one in which the owner would not support the staff in meeting the needs of the children, let alone to meet state regulations. The center was constantly in trouble with licensing and enough was enough. It was impossible to stay within guidelines the way the center was run and I felt I was doing absolutely everything I could and those babies were just not getting what they deserved. My director and I both left at the same time. We were the backbone of that center and our hope was that the parents would realize how big the issues were and make other arrangements for their kids. By contract we couldn't really say anything negative to them, but they had seen the posted reports from licensing and had to know with the two of us gone things would only continue to get worse. I still feel bad for leaving those kids and still wonder how they're doing. Sometimes you just don't have a choice, though. I really feel for her. It's so hard when you're dealing with kids, living breathing little human beings, and not widgets of some sort. Sigh... give her kudos from me for walking away. I totally get it. |

My 18yo worked there first..for 2 years.. when she graduated hs she opted to take an assistant position and go to school in the evenings/online.. that was the beginning of the end for her..she got accused of all sort of bs that was actually the teachers fault..the director is alittle older, so the daughter runs things..well she refused to hear DD out..so after a series of things she put in her 2 weeks...the day she did it, Robin (the daughter of director) came out to the playground and berated her in front of the kids on the playground...DD called her on it right there and immediately was told that she could leave. DD16 took the after school care position about 2 months later..had an extensive talk with Robin regarding her sisters departure..DD16 flat out said, i am NOT my sister and I deal with things much differently, I am not afraid to confront or speak my mind just so you know..
Well, the 2 B****** who ran after school care, who are essentially 2 18yo's..treated DD like garbage..all on the feeling of being p.o.'d about DD18 leaving.. The kids all eventually gravitated towards DD16..especially 2 little boys..one who was having potty training issues.. he was just turning 4 and missing the potty for #2.. they would berate him, make fun of him..and a few times put him in girl pullups..and would threaten him on days when he hadn't gone yet to put him back in them.. well DD16 took it upon herself to speak to him and soothe him and started taking him to the bathroom on her own..they would talk in there, she even read to him in there..and sure enough nearly every day he started going regularly the minute he would see her come in he'd tell her he had to go.. the accidents stopped..and ironically the week she was sick and didn't come in, he had accidents.. the stuff going on there is just CRAZY.. a couple of the parents when they realized she was leaving were not happy..esp 1 little boys dad..I got the feeling that his ex wife was the one calling the shots where the kid was going and not happy with the school..but he loved DD18 when she was there and soon loved DD16..now they're both gone.. One teacher there went so far as to tell DD16 that she was too soft and obviously too attached to her mommy & daddy. W.T.F.??????? Ugh, I could go on and on! ![]() Last edited by DesertGurl; 02-25-2013 at 08:57 AM.. |

D - so sorry about your DING DANG SCALE!!!!!! That just plain and simple SUCKS! I do believe your DD16 and my DS are a lot the same. My biggest fear is that the need to finally study / have homework is going to hit him like a BRICK WALL next year! I guess, everyone's time comes, doesn't it???
T - way to go on the new LOW!!! Look at you rock - n - rolling right along! I worked in a daycare during college. That woman was a TOTAL LOSER! She graduated from a Bible college in the town where my University was. So she hired a lot of girls from the Bible college...well they all convinced me that the college had a curfew so I had to work all late nights. I finally did some research and they could all get EXCUSED for work! SH#@ hit the fan when I found out. Plus the owner was horrible with cash, so I would have to RACE to her bank with my paycheck and pray there was money in it for my check. I stayed WAY longer than I should have, because of the kids! She was also not even close to code on a TON of things! Rough times!!!!! I finally quite and took and office job, best thing I could ever do! |

Ugh... makes my stomach turn, Danielle... I'm so sorry both of your girls experienced that and feel so horrible for the kids
I have really mixed feelings about being a preschool teacher... I honestly believe that children are better off at home with an active, attentive parent... but I also know that isn't always possible so want to do the absolute best I can for those kids when family just isn't available or capable for what ever reason. The center your girls worked at has some serious serious issues, though. As did the last one I worked at. So very sad ![]() |

Danielle - that is horrible. Daycare and finding quality ones is horrible. I am so glad my children are older. When my DD was there, her teacher got investigated for being too rough with the kids. COme to find out, she mistreated my dd more than any others because Haven is head strong and always has been. 2003 is when it happened, the toughest darkest year of my life. Haven had to have surgery on her hip in May, In August her teacher was terminated for "abuse" and we found out all of what she had done to Haven....very likely the hip surgery Haven had to have was caused specifically by this teacher that would regularly pick Haven up my her arm / near her shoulder and pull her up and throw her back down in a chair to get her to behave! DARK TIMES I am telling you!

Btw, the very first preschool I worked at has still been the best I've seen to date.... and I swore up and down that my kids would never attend that school because of the issues there... sigh... little did I know... there is so much improvement needed in the daycare/preschool system and yet nothing seems to change. If you have to use one or know someone looking, please look for one that is NAEYC accredited. It's no guarantee, but it's a huge ordeal to get accredited and improves your chances of finding a good one greatly... at times they still put 'other' things ahead of the kids' needs, but for the most part it's a much better bet.
